Crime / How Ex-general’s Daughter, Cynthia Osokogu, Was Killed By Facebook ‘friends’ by JustME7(m): 12:13am On Aug 22, 2012
Indications emerged, Tuesday, that the late Cynthia Osokogu, the only daughter of General Frank Osokogu (rtd), whose body was discovered in a Lagos morgue a month after she was declared missing, could have been murderedby her facebook acquaintances.
Already, six persons, among them two university students, a pharmacist and an employee of the hotel where the 24-year-old post-graduate student was murdered have been arrested.
DEATH BY FACEBOOK: The late Cynthia Osokogu
Investigation into the murder, as reliably gathered, revealed that Cynthia was strangled to death in the hotel by her assailants, who thereafter left with an undisclosed amount, her student identity card and phones.
Report said the beautiful and vivacious Cynthia had chatted with the two undergraduates on facebook for months.
In the process, they reportedly got to know that she owned a boutique in Nasarawa State, following which they reportedly had a business proposal with her, promising to host herwhenever she visited Lagos.
On her arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, on July 22, 2012, she was reportedly picked up by the two undergraduates and driven to a hotel in Festac Town. Unknown to her, she was embarking on a journey of no return.
At the hotel, her drink wasreportedly drugged beforeshe was strangled to death. Vanguard reliably gathered that after her death, one of her assailants left the room and later put a call to the hoteliers, informing them that there was a corpse in one of the rooms.
The hotel, as gathered, took the corpse to the Isolo General Hospital mortuary. Sources informed that efforts by the hoteliers to contact family of the deceased proved abortive as there was reportedly nothing to trace her close relatives or friends.
Meanwhile, back in Nasarawa State where herfamily is said to be based, apprehension had set in following her disappearance. She was, therefore, declared missing, with her pictures dropped at some police divisions in the state.
How the suspects were arrested
Vanguard reliably gathered that after the murder, the killers deleted all information and chats with the deceased from their facebook . But, along the line, the deceased phone was dialled and one of the suspects reportedly answered. When the call log was checked from the service provider, the receiver was traced to Festac Town in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.
Again, the Close Circuit Television stationed in thehotel was said to have revealed identities of the killers following which two of them were arrested and their confessional statement ledto the arrest of others.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to have bought the drugs with which theydrugged Cynthia’s drink from a pharmacist, thereby leading to his arrest. It was at this point that her family was reportedly contacted.
Vanguard reliably gathered that during investigation, the two undergraduates, whose identities could not be ascertained, confessed to have killed Cynthia.
They also reportedly confessed to belong to a syndicate which specialised in luring unsuspecting rich women with the aim of dispossessing them of their belongings, particularly cash.
The late Cynthia, as gathered, was not their first victim, as they were said to have confessed to the police that she was their sixth victim.
When contacted, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the arrest, but was not forthcoming with details.

Politics / Re: FG Boosts Gas Supply Topower Plants by JustME7(m): 10:30am On Aug 16, 2012
dedeike: Reforms. Reforms. Reforms. That is what transformation agenda is all about. When I listed as part of GEJ's achievements last month the ongoing refurbishment of power plants and the strategic gas link up induced by upward review of electricity tariffs, so many wanted to chunk my head off.

But gradually it is manifesting. We are witnessing improved power generation owing to the aggressive infrastructure expansion and gas supply plans.
It is not yet Uhuru. This is just a tip of the iceberg. When SPDC completes the building of its gas plants in IMO state and other oil companies follow suit, there will be so much adequacy of gas for our NIPP thermal stations to generate power.

Under Jonathan, the nation has attained an all time high of 4500 megawatts and still counting. We have also revived the NIPP. it gladdens my heart that gas can now be supplied to GEREGU.
I have resolved not to make much noise again till the power reforms fully materialize.

At first, when GEJ started this transformation stuff, I didn't think he was going to be different from past leaders. He has finally known how to solve our power problem. We're really moving.

Politics / FG Boosts Gas Supply Topower Plants by JustME7(m): 1:14am On Aug 16, 2012
IN an effort to ensure steady supply of electricity nationwide, fourmonths after the declaration of a Gas SupplyEmergency Plan, the Federal Government, yesterday, set a 12-month time-line to address seeming misalignment in the nation’s gas-to-power aspirations.
This comes as the nation’s power generation capacityreached an all time high of4.2GW. Addressing journalists in Abuja, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources, said the improvement in gas supply, which precipitated the noticeable increase in volume of power generation, was the result of aggressive infrastructure expansion and gas supply development initiatives.
She said: “Since the roll out of the plan, we have achieved major milestonesin the expansion of the Escravos-Pipeline System— the major gas supply artery to the power plants.
“This is part of the most extensive expansion ever undertaken on this pipeline network since it was built 30 years ago.”
She listed the items completed in the critical pipeline segments to include the 27kmX24inch permanent gas supply pipeline from Itoki to Olorunshogo via Ewekoro, all in Ogun State; the 56kmX24inch Escravos-Warri gas pipeline, doubling the pipeline capacity and enhancing gas evacuation from Escravos, and the 30kmX36inch Oben to Geregu pipeline.
She added: “The net impact of all these is the addition of 120 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcf/d) to the grid and the permanent elimination of the challenges of low gas pressure that has plagued the Olorunshogo PHCN and NIPP power plants.

“We are also now well positioned to supply gas to the existing Geregu Power Plant and all anticipated future expansions in that axis.
“Specifically, with these interventions, we are now able to supply gas to the full requirements of Egbin,Sapele PHCN, Delta IV, Olorunshogo, both PHCN and NIPP plants, and Omotosho PHCN power plants.
“In addition, we are able to meet the requirements of two out of three turbines in Geregu and one out of two turbines in Sapele NIPP.”
Alison-Madueke said despite the obvious marked improvement in power generation as a result of the Gas Supply Emergency Plan, work continued on the implementation of the plan with further targeted additions.
She said: “In essence, between now and December, Nigerians can expect continued growth over the current all-time peak recorded by the Power Ministry.
“Going forward, this trend will continue as we finally address the underpinning challenges of the supply system.”
“I am convinced that we have effectively come out of the deep with the Nigerian power situation and would expect a steadyupward climb from here.”She added that major works on the Utorogu and Ughelli gas plants have reached completion stage.”

Some of the projected additions include: a further 65mmcf/d, within the next three to four weeks, to come from ongoing work at Oredo field, which will effectivelybridge outstanding gap in supply, enabling supply to all power plants on the Western axis.
It is also envisaged that the gross short term additions by September will be 245mmcf/d as opposed to the promised 180mmcf/d in the short term.

Earlier in the year, both plants recorded an all-time low combined output of 300mmcf/d as a result of some maintenance challenges. With the repairs, the combined capacity is now 360mmcf/d, which is a netaddition of 60mmcf/d.

Ileke-IdI:

LOL @ it being nobody's business. It's obvious that each Nigerian community does not have an organization that requires each neighborhood keep its environment clean.

The community is very much everybody's business.
Do you live in nigeria? Do you know how much it costs to buy a land? Do you know how much it costs to build a house? Well, If you are the head of the government, I guess you're going to ban the use of those roofing sheets without considering how people strive.
When I want to erect a building, I'm not going to use those sheets. And I won't criticize those that use them. BTW, I don't think those roofing sheets make the environment to look untidy.

People wants to minimize cash. I think its nobody's concern with what people use to roof their houses. If you think government should ban those zincs, do you also think that the government will increase the salary of those guys? Cut your clothes according to your size.

P.S. This is just my observation.
