My nexus Neva lacks updates lol
U guys are just decieving urselves, some established brands are stuck on the ice cream sandwich OS for example, a guy came to my office to sell a sweet looking LG optimus L9 for 55k and dis device was running on ICS wt a 5mp camera to match.i googled the device only to find out that for nw it cant be upgraded to JB. Nw tell me weda at that price am wrong to go for the f7 which is far superior to the said device.u people should stop all dis sentimental way of thinking in adressing issues. Individual people with individual choices. OTA dis and dat haba!! What exactly are ur grievances against ppl using tecno fones na? Is it ur money? If u ride a ferrari and i ride a datsun whats the problem wt dat, is using a car of my choice nt preventing me frm jumping cabs Enough is enough o!

Don't get it twisted people, wen u cop the f7 u'll personally restrain from cursing these sadists out like I am ryt nw.......between man and God, I charged overnight, started using around 9am and by a few minutes past 4pm I still gat like 23%. I used it a tonight and stopped and 93%, checked like 30mins later and the battery was still at the same point and apps running in the background....there are alotta fones in d market, nobody is imposing the f7 on anybody, if u like buy and if u like go for another..simple!!! I got the fone ystday and am very very happy wt my decision.

If u have set ur mind on the f7 pls don't allow any sadist to discourage u, its a marvelous fone. I almost did not buy it due to the comments here especially by people who don't own the fone buh act like they know all abt it...they keep saying OTA upgrades dis and dat. My question is have u ever heard of what they call a PATCH? Tecno culd decide to create one available for download to fix whatever bug. As of now, am loving and enjoying my f7...don't u even ask weda its my first smartfone at all cos I also have an iphone 3GS and its currently resting in my bag! If u like listen to derailing comments and miss out, no fone is perfect!!!

What is beginning to puzzle me is this intense campaign for tecno. Let there be peace once and for all NLanders......if u love tecno, pls go for it and if its the galaxy series pls feel free to purchase it..all these comparison is out of place, we all use our phones differently. All some do is browse and chat, some play games all day long while some are camera freaks etc the truth is tecno has come to stay and dats that. Am an apple user and neva owned an android device and wen I chose to, the f7 will be the one.........reason? Cos dats my choice and nobody else's. S3 and s4 are superior fones no doubt about that buh tecno has really given the masses the full android experience without having to go out of your way to have a feel of what its all about.
NB: I wonder why when I google the f7, all I see is reviews from nigerian sites and not a single foreign one. WHY

fineemina: 1. when did iphone enter the market (at that time half the people condemned it and half accepted it today everyone accepts it)

2. I used to spend thousands on mobile phones barely 4months availability (e.g. W800- 46k, N91 50k, N82 - 67k Xperia X1i - 68k) but today what happened they are all outdated.

3. Honestly I tried Tecno T3 was impressed moved to N7 I even got more impressed and want to buy the F7.

4. When u talk about maintenance does Samsung really have it (I had friends who used samsungs' and the moment there is an issue fixing it becomes a problem.

5. Y would u want to connect 5 devices to prove ur phone is better its called (to me useless effizy)

6. Honestly Make a list of what u need in a phone and tell me if this phone does not satisfy your need.

7. we are talking of dual / quad / octa cores do we really used them. (a simple feature in an old phone who has ever used PTT honestly who). (How many of us really used video call - I tried it just to see if it worked and that was it)

8. Be is S3, S4, Z10 or IP5 or whatever u call it. (the user ultimately has the ability to show off with his apps the way he know how to best).

9. U drive a BM I drive a Toyota we are both skilled drivers u would only be able to show off at certain points (same to both cars).

10. One question what is it u use regularly on the Iphone or Samsung or xperia that the tecno cannot do anybody?
SPOT ON!

Honestly I don't see any bad the OP has done here in trying to raise awareness abt the infinix fone, all what he's trying to do is for us to be aware and exercise caution when tryin to buy the infinix pressing android of a fone. I personally wuld be furious if I spent 25k on sumtin and it turns out the other way...money don't grow on trees, some work very hard for their money while some don't!

Phones / Hands On: Blackberry Q5 Review by k2kay(m): 3:19pm On May 15, 2013
The BlackBerry Q5 is here, and about time too as the Canadian firm launches its first affordable BlackBerry 10 device.

Unveiled at the annual BlackBerry Live conference in Orlando the BlackBerry Q5 had been almost completely leaked under the moniker BlackBerry R10, so its design and specs come as no surprise.

There's no firm word on which countries will be treated to the Q5, but BlackBerry is touting it as an entry-level to mid-tier device aimed at emerging markets.
What we do know is that it will be available in selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America, with expected availability beginning in July.

It looks like the US is set to miss out on the BlackBerry Q5 and when TechRadar quizzed spokespeople on UK and Australia availability no one could provide a solid answer.

At first glance you can tell the BlackBerry Q5 will be a more keenly priced device than its high-end Q10 brother, with a swath a bezel adorning the front of the noticably plastic handset.
It lacks the premium look and finish of the Q10, but retains the classic BlackBerry QWERTY phone look, with the isolated keys a nod to past BB OS handsets such as the Curve 9320.

In terms of specs the Q5 has a lot in common with the Q10, with both devices sporting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 3.1-inch, 720x720 display - although the Q5 is furnished with a lower quality LCD offering compared to the Super AMOLED screen on the Q10.

While the bezel around the screen may be larger than on its higher-end relation it's not necessarily a bad thing as it provides more room below the display for the upwards swipe gesture required to exit apps.

On the Q10 there isn't any space between screen and keyboard which made the motion a little tricky at times, however on the Q5 we could easily slide our finger around without fear of pressing any keys.
Of course this does mean the Q5 is longer and the Q10, and it's also a little chunkier as well but BlackBerry has managed to keep the weight down so it's not overbearing in the hand.

The solid plastic rear is reminiscent of the iPhone 3GS, but there's no metallic rim round the edge to hold things together and the glossy finish doesn't provide a great deal of grip.
Up top there's a headphone jack and centralised power/lock key which we found was pretty difficult to hit as it wasn't raised above the chassis meaning you really need to push down hard for the Q5 to register your action.

Down the right side are the trio of buttons which also feature on the Z10 and Q10 with volume keys sandwiching a third switch which provides a shortcut to voice commands.
On the left there's a microUSB port, but there's no HDMI out option - something you do get on the other two BlackBerry 10 handsets.

Instead on the left we have a plastic flap which covers microSD and microSIM ports, allowing you to build on the 8GB of internal storage inside the BlackBerry Q5.
As you may have already guessed the presence of the slots of the left means you can't whip the back off the BlackBerry Q5 to access the 2100mAh battery.

That shouldn't be too much of an issue though as the battery in the Q5 should easily last you more than a day if the Q10 is anything to go by - which has the same size battery.
Thanks to the decent processor and amount of RAM BlackBerry has managed to stuff inside the Q5 the BlackBerry 10.1 operating system provides a fluid and lag-free experience.

We were easily able to glide through homescreens and apps generally opened up pretty quickly.
Because the BlackBerry Q5 is running the latest version of the BB10 OS you get features such as pin to pin messaging, but the HDR camera mode hasn't made the cut on this cut-price handset.

The camera app itself opens in a second, but the auto-focus is quite laggy and we found the Q5 took two to three seconds to snap a picture, which is a little too long for our liking.
Round the back you get a 5MP camera and single LED flash which does produce some decent snaps, plus the front facing 2MP snapper will help with video calling and vanity checks.

BlackBerry has managed to take its lightening quick web browsing performance from the Z10 and Q10 and stick it into the Q5 and we were able to load the desktop TechRadar site in under five seconds on a strong 4G connection - that's impressive for a handset which is aimed at the lower end of the market.
Web pages, text and images appear crisp and clear on the 3.1-inch 720 x 720 display, but it's not quite as bright and colours don't pop like they do on the Q10's Super AMOLED screen.

Obviously the big attraction for anyone considering the BlackBerry Q5 is its QWERTY keyboard and once again the Canadian firm shows its prowess in this area.
The isolated keys have a decent amount of travel, but we did find it was a little trickier to type on the Q5 compared to the Q10 and the whole keypad did wobble quite a bit under our prods, which just reinforced the budget nature of this device.

For anyone who's grown up using BlackBerry keyboards the Q5 offers more of the same, but if you're considering switching from a fully touchscreen device you probably won't be convinced.
Quick Verdict

The BlackBerry Q5 is one for the aficionados who can't afford, or refuse to splash cash on the highly priced Q10, with the solid BlackBerry typing experience at the heart of everything it does.

Without knowing the price it's difficult to say how it will stand up against other handsets, but anyone who isn't a BlackBerry fan and is in the market for a reasonably priced smartphone probably won't be taken with the Q5.

That said if BlackBerry manage to price the Q5 low enough it would make it a seriously attractive proposition with its decent power under the hood, HD display and rapid internet browser. We're just going to have to wait and see.

Phones / The Nokia Lumia 925 Is Awesome But Not A Masterpiece by k2kay(m): 3:06pm On May 15, 2013
Nokia has mistakenly called its new phone a "masterpiece" - but it's still the phone the brand needed.

It's no secret that Nokia's been in the doldrums in the last half-decade - it's so obvious this paragraph seems redundant. But that problem has been compounded by investors calling for CEO Elop to change path from Windows Phone - a not so subtle push towards Android.

But it's never been the operating system that's been holding Nokia back - it's the phones themselves. I've still got no idea why a brand would want to make high end handsets in colours that make them look like kids toys. Yes, they're striking, but I don't know anyone that hankers for a yellow phone beyond teenagers and those that like to be a little alternative.

A good brand exercise, yes, but not one that's going to attract the hoardes.

I had an interview with Nokia's UK and Ireland MD Conor Pierce recently, and one of my questions was why Nokia steadfastly refused to bring out a phone that would go on the front cover of the national papers in the same way as the iPhone or a new Galaxy. It wasn't answered directly, in true Nokia style, but you got the sense that he knew that this was a direction the company needed to move in.

And you can't sell phones on innovation alone - and I'll tip my hat to the Finnish brand, it's done well there, especially in the camera space. Make it acceptable inside (and Nokia has just about done that with the mediocre specs on offer) and make it look amazing on the outside and you're onto a winner. By amazing, I mean make it out of some really premium materials that makes people ask about it when they see you holding it.

That may happen with a red, green or yellow phone, but for the wrong reasons.
Design matters

I know many will leap to the defence of polycarbonate, and I'm with you: you can make a premium phone out of that stuff, no doubt. But for the majority of phone buyers, there's a reason they chose the iPhone 4S or 5, or the HTC One - and that was the new design.

So that's why today shows that Nokia could be in the process of getting its act together. It's taken the acceptable innards of the 920, given them a polish, and then plopped them in an altogether more impressive chassis. No need for compromise, it's just taken a decent phone and made it look much, much nicer. And that's what buyers want.

Of course there's more than that - the cameraphone elements in there are still class-leading, and the extras (like Music and Here) are a valuable addition to the Windows Phone ecosystem - but if you have to talk customers into buying a phone, then you're never going to achieve high sales numbers.

Just look at HTC: the HTC One is the best phone out there, but it's never going to outsell the Galaxy S4, as its brand message is essentially: "Look, we still make good phones!"

That's really the problem that Windows Phone has. I've never been wowed by anything on a phone running this operating system, more quietly impressed.
Small delights

Within the technology community there's definitely an affection for Windows Phone, as it's an OS that's intuitively built and is littered with small delights, but no handset running the platform has ever been one I'd recommend over the Android or iPhone range.

So that's why, while the Nokia Lumia 925 is great in showing that Nokia knows the direction it needs to start heading, we need to see more "wow". Nokia can't rely on making good cameraphones, because there are few specs alone won't convince anyone to take a punt on an unfamiliar operating system.

Nokia needs a phone that brings the first really high-res screen to Windows Phone. A processor that matches the current competition (and more importantly apps that can use its power) is a must too.

More than anything else, Nokia needs to make a phone that looks so good everyone has to have it. The Lumia 925 is closer on that front, but still feels a little large thanks to the rounded bulbous edges, and causes confusion with the hybrid polycarbonate back.

But it's good to see you back, Nokia. We've missed you.
