A question on minimum living wage is appropriate and should not be less than NGN150,000.00 per month. The subsidy removal and unifying of exchange rate generated so much inflation.

Politics / Re: Tinubu CSU Certificate Fraud: “Save Us From Disgrace", Eze Chukwuemeka by Kaa4(m): 5:53pm On Sep 27, 2023
ivandragon:
The drama over the release or not of BAT's records with CSU continues to get curiouser & curiouser every day.

BAT's legal team had recently objected to the release of documents requested for, by Atiku's legal team, stating, amongst other reasons, that it was a fishing exercise & intrusion on BAT's privacy.

In addition, exposing such information would cause BAT serious harm.

The question I keep asking is that what harm is BAT seeking to avoid?

So I tried to rundown a list of possible issues...

1. Age?
Will the documents released show an age different from what BAT submitted to INEC? If so, it would mean BAT lied. If not, there is nothing to be concerned about.

2. Gender?
There is already issues surrounding that, but BAT has explained that the gender shown on the transcript from DALE was a mistake. Fact remains that transcripts are usually confidential documents & BAT might not have been privy to the 'error', so this can be explained. Unless there was actually another Bola A. Tinubu who was a female. If not, there is nothing much about that.

3. Studentship
CSU had agreed that BAT was thier student. So nothing to that. Except information will show that there was another BAT who is not 'this BAT'. This is highly unlikely. So BAT has nothing to fear here. It is not like he started but was expelled or didn't finish his students. CSU called him a 'graduate' of the institution. So what's to be concerned?

4. Grade Awarded
BAT has consistently claimed he graduated with a 1st class. Kudos to him. In fact, at every opportunity, he has boasted about that. So, if the CSU documents are going to confirm this, why bother? Is there going to be a contradiction of grade awarded to BAT? If not, it's no issue.

5. Undergraduate Awards & scholarships
BAT had also bragged about scholarships he received for being a brilliant undergraduate student & other awards received. These are things to be proud of. In fact, these are things people include in thier CVs. So, if BAT himself has come out to say he got all these awards/scholarship, why is he concerned? Even if it turns out he didn't get them, it will only cause a minor embarrassment & nothing more. He embellished his undergraduate days, so what? Nothing major.

6. Disciplinary Reports
This is where things might get tricky. Did BAT have serious disciplinary issues while a student of CSU? Serious issues that were bad, but didn't lead to his expulsion? Rape? Drugs? Gang membership? Arrests? What? These are certainly serious issues that would give more insight about BAT... but would it be enough to nullify his victory? Except for a case of conviction, I doubt. Yes, BAT would be embarrassed, but not like he cares & his supporters certainly don't mind rooting for persons of questionable characters, so they will simply increase their chants & hailing. After, if the heroin case didn't mean anything to them, neither will any other thing. So, again, nothing much, just a few days or months of abuse & Nigerians will move on.

7. Course Records
BAT had one or two carry overs? So? Even brilliant students have thier off days. So nothing here.

8. Issues Relating to Sponsors/Next of Kin
This is another interesting area. Who was BAT's sponsor, his next of kin, family info. etc. BAT had always said he worked hard to fund his education. But those who know Maami (Iya Mogaji) know she was a wealthy woman in her own right & sponsoring BAT would be no big deal. So, BAT saying he worked odd jobs seems to contradict his family background, but that is nothing because he might have just decided to work for extra funds. However, could there be information that would really throw light on BAT's family background? Would it give insight on who he is actually related to? Again, it would be revealing & might cause embarrassment for BAT if it turns out he had been feeding Nigerians lies, but again, it will only just be a minor inconvenience, expect that information would be a thread that would unravel the background of BAT.

9. Travel History/information
It would be interesting to know when BAT got into the US. Yes, he had at one time or the other made reference to it, but was that the truth? Would CSU documents show that he arrived US at some other time? Was it BAT that arrived US or someone else who later became BAT? Would the passport reveal another name? This leads us to number 10.

10. Name
Except BAT did a change of name, there is no issue here. But is it that someone at a point in time became BAT? Is there a record for a change of name? Now, this would certainly be an interesting one. But except ot leads to some damning revelations, it would only serve to reveal who the real BAT is. No crime in changing names. Besides, it will help Nigerians know more about the man, BAT.

11. Forged Certificate
So, this might be an issue & the only grounds upon which Atiku might realistically have a chance to upturn BAT's electoral victory. But what exactly would be ? considered 'forged' or 'fake' if BAT is confirmed to be a graduate of CSU with a 1st class? BAT has already blamed clerical error on the discrepancies in his certificate, so there is no need fighting to block whatever comes out of that & the Nigerian courts will not do much about it as long as the key information remains consistent. Name, school, qualification, grade, year of graduation, things CSU simply has to affirm or rectify.
So, except there is really nasty information contained in CSU's records, I don't see the reason for BAT's running from pillar to post to block records, much of which he has used his 'mouth' to reveal in public. I also don't get why his supporters are concerned & insult anyone who asks questions.

BAT's supporters should be proud that all BAT had said about himself is true. This would help restore some integrity to himself & make the job of defending him easier. And even if it turns out BAT is a fraud, his supporters don't care. They have no moral compass, so why are they concerned about what the records will reveal.

But if those records reveal that BAT has been lying on just about everything about himself, then he should face the consequences.

In the end, BAT should be more concerned about what the US government will chose to reveal about him rather than his academic records.
You seem to have this report done by ChatGPT to clear him. So, why is he fighting hard to ensure the records are not public. There is definitely something of substance to hide.
Politics / Re: FG Still Practicing Quasi-subsidy, Expect Fuel Price Hike – Oil Marketers by Kaa4(m): 10:19am On Sep 18, 2023
One way or the other, the government must do something that would make life worth living for Nigerians. Either the government removes subsidises on PMS consumption and directly reflate the low income earning strata, or continue to subsidise, it would have to do something! Clinically it is easier to reflate the economy by empowering the poor to increase consumption and output rather than subsidises which is sure to benefit only very few who are privileged.

The first option makes better economic sense,

Chikena.

Really redomination is not the answer to Nigeria's FX crises. The answer lies in where the money is going to. Too much slush money is in the economy. Lack of confidence in the economy is draining it of FX. There are no investments that can hold Naira. Too high cost of governance and the mutifarious challenges Buhari put the eocnomy into before he left.

Business / Re: FG Mulls Redenomination Option To Stabilise Naira by Kaa4(m): 6:29pm On Aug 20, 2023
So many postulations for the beleaguered Naira.

The trial and error method will not work if things continue as has always been. Have Nigerian economists considers the problem as that of portfolio choice of rich Nigerians not necessarily to speculate against the Naira but to shift assets against the Naira. Those who are accessing the dollars now do not need it for trading or transaction purpose, but investment and assets issues. So rich people are mopping the dollar where they can find it. Because they see any hope for the currency. That’s is why the problem is stocking up and is not transactions.
I consider the solutions to be long term. No immediate term solution is feasible under the current situations without restrictions in the market. Therefore, the short term being proposed would be
(a) Documentation on why any buyer requesting for dollars, those who are buying for the assets purposes and investment would be spotted and that would allow those who need to for transactions to have a way in the market.
(b) A second issue is those who are assessing the market, who are they? what is their source of the Nigerian currency. Very few people earning low wages are able to access the market presently.
(c) Thirdly I would recommend the increase in the minimum wage to a minimum of 100k to empower the low income to earn and consume and firms can be profitable once again.
(d) Then the public office holders would have to give up a substantial advantage of their income to assure that everyone is on the same page.
This is what will give confidence to the economy otherwise. Redomination will only be beneficial to a section of the financial market and would eventually return worse at the end of the day.
There has to be sincerity and courage to give confidence to the investors and the people.

Reading through i dsicover that there is no corect econmic staeemet here. The issue is that there is higher traffic ifrom Nigeria which should push down the price, but there is no reproticity. Then the high traffic is complemented by by unstable enviroment forced by instability and delayed exchanger transfrer. So, bascially the airlines are all exploiting the unease in Nigeria with the issue of high traffic. The goverment cannot intervene because the issue is basically imposed by the airlines. Only good competition and ceompetiive enviroment will force the price down.

So airlines would not abandon the Nigerian route no matter how tough or unstable. It is lucrattive at least by 2 times of the normal routes.
