Has anyone done Skrill to Dorm account withdrawal in Nigeria of late? I was able to do that in the past, but a friend said it has been disabled.

Any valid information will be highly welcomed.

I tried the Skrill withdrawal option with 11 dollars. The rate was quite bloody; I got about 290. Na God go punish official rates.

And your bank did not charge you any thing? I need to change banks, as GTB charges 20 USD on all my inflow via their intermediary bank.

please what are the requirement you used to open a GTBank dorm account. Also your skrill account is it a business account or a personal account.

The requirements are the same for current account. Every other document you need to open a savings account plus 2 referees with current accounts(salary account does not count) in either GTB or another bank.

Once you get these your account will be opened.

Gys. I just noticed that you can withdraw directly to your naira account with Skrill, although there is a charge of about 5USD. Has anyone tried it?

If you have a dorm account, this is usually the best option. But be aware that either the intermediary bank or your bank will deduct between 20 and 25 USD so make an allowance for 25 USD. Plus the initial 25 USD which gives a total of 30 USD.

The catch is that if you earn very high on upwork you can consolidate your funds and withdraw just once. Once you have the money in your dorm account you can withdraw in cash or sell at the prevalent black market rate which is better than these exchangers on Nairaland.com

If you don't have a dorm account Skrill may charge you some additional fees for currency conversion and use the official cbn exchange rates for you.

Do your maths and know which one is better. When I want to withdraw small change I use exchangers, otherwise I send the money to my Dorm account. I use GTB by the way and the charges per inflow is 20 USD fixed irrespective of the amount being received into the account.

Frankly, I'm not so keen on outsourcing any job here anymore. I had a horrid experience doing so just now. One of the reasons I feel gutted about this whole job going awry is because of my experience outsourcing or trying to outsource a job. But issorai.

If you can share your outsourcing experience it sure should help us avoid any pitfalls should we decide to do same.

How can you tell if your chat thread was monitored or logged into? I agreed to accept work outside Upwork once after turning down an initial offer. Thankfully, the deal never materialised but I still have our chat staring me in the face anytime I enter my chat room. I've since withdrawn my application to the client but there doesn't seem to be much I can do about the chat.

If you want to accept future work outside upwork I don't think there is a problem, just discuss the future job outside upwork messaging platform.

However if you have a contract that is running and you're discussing taking it outside upwork, you will certainly have issues. I use Skype for another conversation apart from interview and hire process

Good day everyone,

please somebody should help me. I have been on upwork for months now, bidding with customised proposals to specific client, but till now no client wants to interview me talk less of giving me any job. All I see is project rewarded to another freelancer. I have only completed one job.

this is my profile link https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~018dfd73776f1ac9a4

Having taken a look at your profile, you may need to re write your profile statement, using appropriate buzz words in your area of expertise. Another thing to note is that designers are much on upwork, so you don't have to give up, it's only a matter of time. I sent over 100 applications before I got an interview invite sef. At least in your case no plenty interview is really needed. I'll try and share my experience on upwork so far. As you keep applying, you'll begin to learn what works and what doesn't. Wish you all the best of luck, you'll need plenty of it.

I am in a mess rite now.. My client suggested we should go off UPWORK I did agree to him including paying me off UPWORK omo as I dey talk to u UPWORK block our account.... I didnt remember that messeges on UPWORK is not private... Their security team dont sleep at work 247... But I know what to do... Brb.

Lolz, how can you be discussing how to break into a man's house inside his sitting room? grin grin

The client should have used the upwork.com opt-out feature, and you should have suggested it to him. Problem is, client can open a new account, but you will have to build your reputation from scratch.

I hope you can get this resolved.

You are so ignorant. Where have you seen people putting their CGPA on CV. It makes no sense except it's a jaw breaking CGPA of 4.9.

You are the one that lack comprehension.
This is the last I am going to educate you on this.
From my very first post I put strong emphasis on Stellar CGPA and fresh graduate, which you're either not intelligent enough to comprehend or you just choose to go with your ignorance. Either way it's your cup of tea, I am only pitying those that will follow your recommendation. I wanted to provide links but I'll let you do that by yourself. Google "graduate CV template" you'll see professional advice on how such level of CV should focus on your academic qualification. So please tell me why someone who has a 2:1 with a CGPA of 4.44 should not indicate his CGPA as a fresh graduate?

Next time you want to argue please provide hard facts, I'll forgive your ignorance this time, next time don't quote me if you can't argue intelligently.

Instead of looking at the substance of the issue you're busy trying to force your ignorance as if you have an iota of what you're talking about.

O boy abeg shift make I see road, am done with your type. angry angry

You are indeed a fresher in the system. Keep parading with your CGPA when people are building skills to make life more meaningful and interesting to them.

Lolz grin grin grin Mr skillz weldone.

Maybe you should try getting a skill called 'comprehension' it will save you from needless arguments.

After building the skills where will you write them on to show the employer? Your fore head? This topic is about the contents on a CV what to include and not to include. What is appropriate or not.

Do as you please, don't infect others with your ignorance.

the reason why I add my cgpa in the first place is that I was advice by one expert to add my cgpa if its more than 4.00 as a new graduate... but as you gather more experience I think there would be no need.

Listen young man, please don't listen to these folks who obviously don't understand what the issue in discuss here is.

Like I said earlier, please leave the CGPA there. It doesn't do you harm, rather it has the potential to advertise you positively. If I was looking to hire fresh graduates, a great CGPA would make me curious to want to interview you at least. Whether you flunk the interview or you don't have the right skills is a different matter entirely. The point is that it could help you in being shortlisted for an interview. It's a competition out there you've got to put your best foot forward.

I've said my own.

CGPA isn't relevant in your CV be it fresh or experience graduate. Recruiters don't employed based on CGPA but skills and what you can do.

If you like get 4.9 and you have nothing valuable to offer to the company, you aren't better than a 3rd class candidate.

The focus is what can you do or offer to the company?
What is this one saying, when has anyone ever gotten a job based on CV alone. You obviously don't even understand what is being discussed here. Go and read my submissions again, this time read it with understanding.

I won't explain this to you again, if you're a recruiter please confront me with facts, stop giving me your invalid opinion that isn't helping anyone.

There was an argument on a previous thread , where a nairalander included CGPA under his education am qualification. and I ask, on what grounds Will the inclusion of CGPA on ones CV be ragarded as a no no ?. I think it's a major selling point for a fresh graduate with little or no experience. what do one stand to lose for its inclusion. the only exception to this is when it's not a strong ( 2'1 or 2'2). can't you defend it? then why should one be afraid of it inclusion. you may leave out First class CGPA, the inclusion here is unnecessary. also. for vacancies where expererience and skill is required inclusion of CGPA is unnecessary. this is my .opinion.. what do you guys and ladies think?

Like I said on the other thread, don't let anyone deceive you. if you're a RECENT graduate with a STELLAR CGPA please include it. You have more to lose by not including it than if you do.

Any recruiter that gets pissed because you did, isn't someone you want to work with in the first place. It is no longer necessary when you have gained experience. I know the opportunity I lost because I didn't have such so no one should come here and talk what they have no idea about.

If I want to recruit for a role and I am down to about three strong candidates with the same skill set, I'll be naturally biased towards the one with a stellar CGPA. Once a recruiter is biased in his mind, it translates to a hiring decision in favor of who he likes.

Even in roles that require hard skills e.g IT, please still leave the CGPA there as long as you're a fresh graduate with stellar academic performance.

After all the skills evaluation they may still need a differentiating factor. At the end of the day, like someone said you have nothing to lose. You will lose more by not including it than by including it.

Okay, I have started sounding like a broken record so I'll stop grin grin grin

diffrent strokes for different folks I guess. a recruiter once censured me about putting my cgpa. he told me he's more concerned bout performance Dan grades.
that someone might be brilliant but still not be work efficient

What other proof of performance can a fresh graduate bring to the table in this Nigeria. It's not like we have internship opportunities in all courses.

A recruiter saying he doesn't want to see your CGPA should not peg a minimum class of degree. If he does that and then chides you for putting CGPA, go and check his result, you'll understand why.

Like I said earlier, after some experience, you should now remove the CGPA and focus on the experience part.

Thank you very much. You are the most honest commenter here. I don't understand what kind of jealousy would make others tell a fresh graduate to remove such an awesome cgpa. The only people that are advised to remove their cgpa are those with a poor 2,1 or a 2.2.
My current company does not accept anyone with less than a 4.0 for managerial roles anymore. Except as technicians with hnd and 2.2;graduates.
So my advice to you young man, sell yourself. Nobody will do it for you. Most of the people replying you are competing with you for the same jobs and will probably gain a few tips from looking at your cv , then they will come back and lie to you.
The cv is a little cluttered. Reduce the career objectives and give sharp, short bullet poihtsvror skills and professional membership. References are good but as a newbie you cv should NEVER exceed 2 pages. If you can bomb everything into a page then awesome!
Sorry for the long story

Thank you for this.

True talk, but being a finance person, venturing into the Tech area may just be stretching it. I've considered it, I even took a number of Harvard computer / coding classes but at the end, combining it with financial / Economic writing was just too much. Everyone's hungry for skills but at the end, one just has to stick to what he's good at.

Precisely,
I was actually referring to wannabes like us grin grin

Freelance web development/programming can turn you into a millionaire if you know your onions. I was looking at a client who had paid out over 500K and I saw that only one person( a developer) earned about 320k from him since 2013. That means an average of 100k per year, and the dude was an Indian.

Tech talents are in short supply, and they that know their code, shall become millionaires... at least in Naira.

The real way to earn money as a freelancer is to skill up oh.. cheesy cheesy cheesy
