Idyllic: I am still a Medical student, but have been thinking of specializations. My issue is that, I don't want a specialization like Surgery where I will be too OCCUPIED, not having enough time for friends and family, I also don't want a too WEAK specialization like Radiology or Community Medicine where my brain may be slightly dormant. Please elders in the house, what are the Specializations a person who wants to have time for his family and at the same time want a Specialization that will CHALLENGE him i.e where his SUPERB BRAIN will be put to good use. Please experienced elders, comment. Few specializations I know are: Radiology, Anaethesia, Chemical Pathology, Community Health, Otorhinolaryngology, Haematology and Blood transfusion, Medicine (i.e Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, e.t.c), Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Surgery (i.e Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic, General Surgery, Urology e.t.c). Go for Pathology or opthalmology. Pathology is not a "weak" specialty (pathology is the closest you can get to being like doctor House in the season movie called "House" and it has less stress, more free time and more brain work.
