Concerning law in America. If d person is already a lawyer, u don't have to attend law school a over again. U evaluate ur transcripts nd go in for an LLM. After d 1yr masters, u re eligible t write d bar exams and start practice.

Being a lawyer already I Nigeria, you do not need to attend law school again in America. What u need to do is go to dis site, lsac.org, u re to evaluate your transcript from from university and law school in Nigeria.
After they evaluate ur results, you are t apply for a masters in law in any of the American University of ur choice.
After your program, u can den be eligible to write d bar exams nd start practice. D masters is 1yr then internship.
Some persons choose to just attend d law school all over again here, not my advice since u already have ur law degree. U ll den need to write d Lsat exam and go to law school for 3yrs, den write d bar exams. Law in America is done post degree, so anyone with a first degree in any field can choose to attend law school. Law school is very expensive I must point out too.
So my advice to u is to use d masters to bar exam route.

Lollyduke:
Good morning people in the house, I need a help on how I could get admission into a school in U S, am a practicing lawyer in Nigeria but I like to go to the America law school to enable me practicing over there as well. Pls what can I do? Thanks.i need a very cogent and first hand information to accelerate my plans.

U seem t have very silly friends in my opinion cos not so many do dat dese days with so many traveling to just visit.
And staying @ ur parents house doesn't translate to parental blessings, u can b blessed even if u decide to stay @ d hotel. Dese ppl re grown ups too and can choose to stay in a hotel room instead of being @ home.

wristbangle:
Some Nigerians, when they return from abroad often display some nasty and childish habits when they return home, and these silly and childish attitudes are enlisted below;

1. Unnecessary use of foreign accent to intimidate local people

When some Nigerians living abroad return home, they begin to use these foreign accents to create unwanted scenes. They do this to show people that they are not of the same class. A times when you tell them, you can't understand their statement, they will say "Are u deaf"? The ones that annoy me most are those based in cotonou, Ghana, Uganda, china forming British accent. Honestly these ones need serious psychiatric evaluation.

2. High level of Pride

Living abroad is not a guarantee that one will be richer than Dangote or Mike Adenuga so why the overbloated ego? Some will even make it look like they're doing you a favour talking to you. This is common with the ladies.

3. Unnecessary show off

I know of some Nigerians who have lived their whole life abroad and are still able to be casual. But for some, they will wear socks and jacket under the intense sun and will be screaming to people's hearing that they regret coming to Nigeria.

4. They condemn our local dish

When a friend of mine returned from Canada, he told me to take him to a restaurant because he went hungry and I was elated he still has passion for our local dish. I took him to one fascinating local restaurant at Ibadan. When they served us pounded yam/egusi soup complimented with all sorts of assorted bush meats. Instead of eating the meal, he walked out from the restaurant telling me he couldn't eat that shiiit . Honestly, I was embarrassed by his comment.

5. They demand for undue Respect

Some of them are so proud that they will give you this proud look because they feel you want to beg pounds or dollars from them. I really don't blame them, after all it is what they experience often when they visit home as friends, family and even enemies want to benefit from their pocket.

6. Hotel becomes their home

I know most of them prefer lodging in a hotel because they are scared of mosquito bite, non availability of light and other negative factors in their parents' house. Though I wouldn't call this a silly act but I feel staying in your parents' house especially when located in the village will attract more parental blessing.

7. They neglect their old friends

This is common to some abroad based Nigerians. They tend to ignore the friends they left in Nigeria because they feel they have climbed the ladder of greatness. Last year, a very good friend of mine arrived from the UK and what surprised me most was that he refused to come to my house after a week of arrival. I used my church mind to go to his place and he started acting like I came to beg for money. This silly attitude of common with some of them.

8. They condemn our culture and values

It's a pity that some Nigerians are so engrossed with the westerner culture that they view African culture as being fetish and archaic when they returned home. For them to prostrate for elders and even their parents is like displaying stupidity act. This is nothing but outright nonsense.

Well, I have a sister, a citizen and mum, LPR in US but I was granted a tourist visa. First I tink it has to do with d perception of d Vo interviewing u dat moment, ur presentation den ur ties in Nigeria also.

It's a 50/50 chance, visa application is anyway, u can be given nd u myt not be, dere is no rule book except wen u have previous issues.

Some persons ll tell u if u re single, forget it but a lot of singles still get dere visas and a lot of married folks still get denied.

It's just an application, u myt get it, u myt not, don't Crack ur head trying to figure it out, be truthful, do a self assessment nd give it a try. Even d Vo here can't tell u if u ll get it or not

Dis information is wrong. with as much a a won't encourage anybody taking d route of B2 to green card but just for d record; u can adjust ur status even if u overstayed ur visa as long as u an immediate family and a visa is immediately available to u like being a husband or wife of a Us citizen.
TWoods:

You are absolutely free to try. I do not require a visa so do not find it useful to argue with you... however you should note that a B1/B2 is NOT a dual intent visa (that is why the vast majority of folks allowed AOS in the us are H, L etc. visa holders - these visas are dual intent and you do not have to prove no motive to immigrate). Also note that the whole point of a visa interview is to get on record what the purpose of your use of the visa would be. Should you have been found to have lied about the purpose of your visa, you will not be able to adjust status.

With regard to overstaying your visa... again feel free to try, don't say you were not warned. Not sure why people bother to go through the hassle of being banned and having to deal with ineligibility waivers.

Having gone through the entire immigration process from B1/B2 to H to green card, i found your response rather amusing. But to each his own.

You don't have to convert anything. Ur nigeria license is recognised in Maryland, u don't even need d international driving license. It's valid for u to drive for one year after ur last entry to d united states.

Thanks, I'm actually going to stay with the Person I filled on my application, my friend is their neighbor. I didn't think it was relevant to change the address since I only stay at one particular place or hotel. So I'm still going to the same state and city. I was just worried if since I just left 2 weeks ago it would be a problem coming back.

Dese guys @ poe re reasonable ppl so u can also ask ursef questions before u go dere. U just left 2 weeks ago after visiting nd u re visiting again, in as much as u can always travel as many times but don't u work or d anytin in Nigeria dat ll need ur time instead of always visiting. In my opinion, it raises a red flag but depends on wat u do originally I Nigeria though as regards wat u actually filled in ur visa application.
About who u re going to visit, just be truthful, u told dem u had just one person b4 nd now u have visited nd can also make new friends u can visit a second time though I don't understand y u ll b visiting s soon wen u just left 2weeks ago

Travel / Re: 10 Reasons Why Travellers Are Turned Back Or Refused Entry At The Port Of Entry by kellykings84: 1:04am On Jan 19, 2016
It's funny how some persons reason and how some claim to know it all. Personally, have neva been sent back from a poe but I was stopped in jburg in 2013 wen de needed to review my visa stamp, said it didn't have some security features but de checked later nd found out d features were introduced a month after I got d visa nd let me go cos I traveled d 3rd month of d 3 months visa.
While I was dere, I heard dem tell some persons de were sending dem back to dere country for various funny reasons.
D points d op stated re very valid, a cousin of mine was sent back cos he had his birth certificate wit him, de felt he needed it to process stay papers wen allowed into d US but he even forgot it in his suitcase as he traveled wit same bag d previous week to abuja.
Wen I came into US in December, d guy in front of me was asked how much he had on him nd he told dem just $700 nd d rest in his mastercard nd d guy said he didn't beliv nd said he ll have to go to secondary for dem to verify, don't know how dat went. while de were on it, I was called up to anoda booth nd was asked almost same tin, I had $500 on me nd d rest in my mastercard also nd dis guy just stamped me in. It's about dere perception nd mood, just like d CO's in Nigeria.
Nd d oda guy saying once u ve ur visa, u can always go in Dats not true, u should even fear d guys I poe more even, those guys have power of tell u, de can send u back wit d slightest doubt, doesn't mean u re being dubious, de can pick on u also or js act on dere gut feelings. De check fones, laptops, wallets, wateva de feel like, wateva de feel ll make dem make a more informed decision if to let u into dere country or not

Truth b told, relocating even to Ghana ll not b easy unless u have ppl dere to show u d robes nd have money too. Am in America for vacation and I ll b back by month end, like I said relocating I neva easy but those stressing America is difficult place to live in, let's face it, being a citizen doesn't make life automatically easy for u.
D lady who said her cousin nd d husband work out dere ass to pay bills, it's cos de have to struggle cos of d level de re in in dat society, de re most probably working $10 an hour nd having to work so many house to meet up, dat can happen to anybody anywhere if u don't have a good job.
My sister is a lawyer here and d husband is an electrical engr, she works 9 to 5 week days only, d husband works for 12 hours for 5 days nd is off for anoda 5days. De live very comfortably nd own dere house nd bliv me don't stress to pay dere bills or live d American dream.
U can't expect to relocate to anoda country where ur certificate is not recognised nd u have to do menial jobs nd want to live big, it doesn't add up, u ll work ur ass off to pay bills just like d menial workers in Nigeria ve to do too.
Some persons come here because de ll want d serene environment nd want to b in a place where d system works, while I don't blame dem, if u have to struggle to enjoy dat, just be informed Dats how it is until u can find ur feet, America is a beautiful place
