In a sane education environment, this lecturer will either be suspended or sacked for this. You only take 'congratulatory gifts' (e.g. Happy birthday, happy married life or new baby) from your students as a lecturer and not a 'thank you' gift as it can influence the lecturer decisions while passing grades to that student. What is the right word to summarize this statement above, oh yes, UNETHICAL

I'm not too conversant with the Nigerian system but i can infer that he is only their project supervisor, and not the one to grade the project?

rubbish, the reason DSS have to go into their houses instead of first going to NJC is obvious so I wonder why all this SANS continues "beating the same horse".

Don't the government needs hard evidence to prosecute these corrupt judges? And how exactly will they get that? By informing the NJC? By informing the Judges ahead of a search? And the monies will be there waiting for them?

Then all this Big SANS just lamenting DSS did this did that, they never actually proceed to tell exactly how DSS broke the law.

Buhari has no sensible adviser. He arrested a supreme court judge and wants to send him for trial before a lower court judge and expects the lower court judge to send his superior colleague to jail. How possible is it? Truly , common sense is not really common.

wow...what display of common sense. It should also be common sensically obvious that the president will have support within some sections of the judiciary and all he has to do is position a favorable judge to handle their cases.

amjoseph19:
You see there is one thing most people don't get. Nobody is supporting corruption. Corruption is the reason why Africans especially Nigerians are suffering. corruption is deep rooted in our society, we are all corrupt. Yes, we all.
To many Nigerians, we think that corruption is only when a politician embezzled public funds. No, favourisim, nepotism, tribalism etc are all part of corruption which we all tends to exhibit in our streets, community, in school, even in church. So, as we are shouting corruption, we should also have a close look in the mirror.

Most of us are faulting buhari/DSS on this not that those judges are our uncles, father nor any relative of our's. We are faulting them because the are bringing in something greater than corruption, something that can halt a nation progress for a very long time. Something than can divide a nation. Buhari is trying to over power rule of law, he is trying to kill democracy. He is trying to take us back to stone age.

Believe me when I tell you that all politicians in nigeria are corrupt (I don't have any evidence to back it up, it is just a personal option). If I see any of them being accused or locked up for corruption, am not amaze. All WE ARE REQUESTING IS FOR DUE PROCESS TO BE FOLLOWED. If we don't totally and uniformly come against this. Tomorrow, you might be arrested for tweeting against buhari. If a judge is corrupt, there's I due process to go about that. If we boycott it today, tomorrow we might also boycott presidential election because some few thinks that Mr "A" is the right person for president.

Those commeding the DSS should always remember this poem.
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.

Buhari have shown that he belongs to somebody, I don't care if he jail all PDP members, associate. But let him follow due process for fucking sake.

He have been fighting corruption for almost 2 yrs now, not a single soul have been convicted by a competent court. I was even thinking that Dasuki is nailed on with how their media propaganda was going about it. But, only to my greatest surprise that he is still yet innocent. Even ECOWAS court granted him an unconditional release and fined FG.

Buhari trying to fight his so called corruption by overlooking the rule of law is like trying to discipline a child by killing the child.

Modified
...................................................................................................
Remember, Those judges are innocent until proven guilty.
To those tagging them corrupt, when a policeman put your sorry ass inside jail and tag you murderer, armed robber or cultist. don't cry foul or run to nairaland to create a thread or go to any social media to cry about it. Karma is surely one hell of a bitch.

Bro you are a patriot. At least your arguments are based on genuine sentiments. You made two points that I noted:

1. You asked that due process be followed
2. You observed that in 2 years of anti corruption warfare, we are yet to have a single conviction.

Your second point shows that due process, administered by the corrupt has become, itself, corrupt. The value of due process is not in morality but in justice.

You may argue that it is immoral to arrest judges in the middle of the night, however i would argue that morality does not always serve the purpose of justice.

Therefore if due process becomes a means by which justice may be subverted under the guise of morality, then due process is no longer an adequate guardian of justice. If the corrupt may hide under the iron clad cloak of due process, then they must be stripped of that cloak.

in reality there is no hard evidence linking them to any corrupt deal. It is not a crime to keep money at home. It is only when the money can be linked directly to crime that anyone can be convicted. The DSS should be smarter than saying someone who had $2m was racing faster than them. Which court of law will accept such a childish testimony?

No hard evidence? Really? Come on. There is lot's of it. DSS has proof, according to them, of even instances where a judge was caught receiving a gift i a store, and others who traveled out to receive theirs. What you must understand that the recovered monies are not the evidence per se, they are the by product. DSS had other evidence of wrongdoing, which led to the raids, and this evidence is what would have been used to obtain search warrants

BTW keeping such large sums of money at home is money laundering. And it is most certainly a crime.

You are deluded after all the noise shebi Buhari will still bring the judges to court presided by members of the NJC.We will see how far he can go.BTW you are on your own. There is no explicit evidence linking those judges to corruption.

grin funny guy. you added that last line, after you realized the implication of what you said in the first two sentences abi? Which implication is that the judges won't get punished because it's their colleagues who will hear their cases, confirming what we have know since i was a small boy, that the Nigerian judiciary is corrupt.

NYSC / Re: NYSC Slashing Number Of PCM From Each Tertiary Institutions by Kgdavid(m): 2:58pm On Oct 10, 2016
NYSC should go...instead, if we must have any service scheme, let us have compulsory military/police service for one year. This way:

1. Young people are doing something that will genuinely help improve their discipline and self belief

2. Young Nigerians would be giving genuine service to the nation, and will help to solve manpower issues: instead of sending battle hardened and experienced career-soldiers to mann checkpoints and other such banal duties, you could send the recently enrolled, fresh grads to do that, while the big boys are deployed to the real trouble spots.

3. Capable young people can be absorbed straight into the service instead of conducting special training and recruitment exercises for DSSC and SSC entry

Religion / Re: How Should I Pay My Tithe? by Kgdavid(m): 10:18am On Oct 09, 2016
MuttleyLaff:

You are not to pay tithe at all for the following 10 reasons
1.) You are not a Jew or an Israelite, who was commanded by God to pay tithe from cultivating crops or breeding and raising livestock (e.g. cows and/or lambs) in the Promided Land
2.) The tithe commanded by God was meant to be given ONLY in Israel, meant to be paid ONLY in Israel and meant to be received ONLY in Israel
3.) The methodolody used for selecting the tithe, was to hand-pick for tithe, the tenth livestock (e.g. cows, lambs) that passes under the rod
4.) The implication of #3 above, is that if you started with 1 livestock (e.g. 1 cow or 1 lamb) and at the end of year, bred and raised 9 cows or 1 lambs, then you dont pay tithe for that year
5.) Tithe were received in Jerusalem and for convenience stored up in a number of Levitical cities scattered all over Israel
6.) Where an Israelite is supposed to pay tithe on sales, is when ONLY buying back the tithe, (i.e. buying back the tenth cow, lamb or cultivated crops)
-there however, is a warning that the Israelite pays the going rate or value of the bought back the tenth cow, lamb or cultivated crops tithe, plus 20 percent.
7.) The bible is a book of division, where some parts like tithe part, was meant for and talking exclusively to the Israelites and no else
8.) The common denominator in all biblical tithe giving (e.g. Abraham's tithe and the Israelites tithings) is a high priest or Levite physically receiving the tithe
9.) The implication of #8 above, is that a pastor is neither a high priest or Levite, hence has no business receiving tithe nor have any jurisdiction over tithe.
10.) Tithe was an obligatory and mandatory giving command made to the Israelite
Contributions which are voluntary and optional is the sort of giving expected from a believer(s)
It is what a believer decides in the heart and is comfortable with to give that God expects
Also believers shouldn't be sorry that they have given or feel forced in response to pressure to give

You forgot to add:

11. Tithe was mostly meant to be eaten by the tither

12. and in the third year (the year of the tithe), it was to be shared between the alien, the widow, the orphan and the Levite, not just the Levite.

It was earlier reported that one of the arrested judges was cooperating while others where not... possibly he has confessed, offered useful evidence, and is now allowed to return home, pending the lodging of formal charges in a court of law.

There is no reason for him to held indefinitely.

This devil-may-care system of governance has to stop. Waiting on the legislators to follow up on this.

The way Fani Kayode speaks so vividly of how the family members were traumatized and how Wike was almost shot (indeed), one would almost believe he was there in person.

But this guy just knows how to play on the emotions of the masses. I wonder whether the judges families were also traumatized when they were enjoying the money their fathers obtained by dubious means?

JUHABACH:

not only are those charges irrelevant since wike is a sitting governor and is thus immune, but to the best of mine and all our collective knowledge, the DSS didnot present any legal order such as a warrant which would have legalised their already questionable actions of trying to break into the resisdence of a prominent citizen at such ungodly hours.
legally speaking, wike is not wrong to interfere when the DSS not only failed to provide a legal reason behind their actions but also (allegedly) threatened to shot a sitting governor instead of trying to proffer an explanation or give legal documents or reasons backing their actions.
bottomline is even without his immunity to prosecuetion as a sitting governor, none of the charges you presented would hold up in any competent court.

EDIT; as regards his impeachment, given the circumstances, it is unreasonable to believe wike's actions constitute an impeachable offence.

I laugh when you, an obvious layman, say "legally speaking" with such courage and boldness.

Listen, immunity is not absolute. He can/should hauled before his state national assembly and tried there instead of a regular court, found guilty and impeached, then arrested to appear before a civilian court.

Immunity does not grant license for impunity.
