Nairaland / General / Re: This Is Directed To Males Only. (ok Ladies Can Participate Too) by kimba(m): 10:35pm On Jul 16, 2006
I once saw a lady-police directing traffic with her right hand, while she grabbed her trousers (just like guys do) with her left hand.

Man, people were hailing her, Twas cool though, a nice way to make a scene.

Celebrities / Re: Obba Babatunde: US-Based Celebrity by kimba(m): 10:20pm On Jul 16, 2006
hahahahaha
I wonder why we would rather argue about somebody that might not even care Nigeria exists,

Anyway, back to the topc:
The world has come to a stage whereby the mention of your name cannot be an absolute conclusion as per your citizenship. Rather than argue over Mr Obba Babatunde(honestly, if that was my name, I would still keep it coz it sounds cute and unique, even if I was not Chinese), I think we should come to grips about who we are and where we choose to belong.

We are all Mixed up. My latest info(official Nigerian diplomatic and Immigration report) is that a lot of foreigners coming into Nigeria on temporary visas are getting Nigerian citizenship cheap and easy. Who is helping them? Nigerians of course, interested in making money. Lebanese, a lot of asians(Chinese and Malaysians), Britons, Indians. I have an indian friend, who came to Nigeria(on a 2-years work-permit visa) with his wife 7-months ago. Their first child, a girl just popped out, and guess what my guy was asking me: "Can I get her Nigerian citizenship"? First, im like, what da so i ask him: why would you want to get her a Nigerian citizenship. So he goes to tell me a long story, in conclusion, they are planning to stay-put in Nigeria even after his 2-years is over, because he is already seeing business opportunities. So he wants to get her a Nigerian citizenship, to further butress his interest to stay in Nigeria.

Im talking total foreigners, not Nigerians returning home. This is because of the financial potentials they can forsee(which we Nigerians are blind to) and the business opportunities they are presently engaged in, in Nigeria. Now, by the time these folks die and pass-on, would you say their kids(who would rather go back to their fatherland to pick a life-partner and come back to Nigeria) are not Nigerians because they bear a Lebanese surnname(for example)? Many of these guys will eventually claim Nigeria from some bonafide Nigerians themselves.

Prediction: Lets talk 50-years time and they'll be running Nigerian politics already. If NL is still alive 50-yrs from now, pls refer to this post.

So please and kindly leave Mr Obba Babatunde, an American of Nigerian decent alone and lets focus on how we can make Nigeria a better place for you and I, and for our generations to come.
Romance / Re: Every 'First Love' Is Infatuation by kimba(m): 9:57pm On Jul 16, 2006
@swing4real
u guys can call me names or say anything u like, i don't just believe in LOVE, i believe in meeting a girl, giving her a good time and finally sleeping with her (the most important reason 4 hanging out with her) and then move on to other girl, Alot of people mistake Lust and Infatuation to be LOVE, The only existing LOVE as far i am concern is the Love between GOD and us,

the reason why you dont believe in Love is because you believe in swinging from one girl to the other, causing heart-breaks for yourself and a whole lot of birds of the same feather as you. Anyway, keep it up coz by the time you finally swing into HIV, we at NL will still be here to hear your story.

Celebrities / Re: Obba Babatunde: US-Based Celebrity by kimba(m): 8:04am On Jul 11, 2006
U.S based celebrity ko, U.S based celebrity ni. As if he gives a jacks ass about Nija. Anyway, the point is Nigerians like to enjoy what they didnt work for, thats why by default Nigerians sort of look for Nigerians with a feeling that when they can be spotted out, something will change about their relationship.

But on a more serious note:

Family / Re: Lies Our Parents Told Us! by kimba(m): 4:57am On Jul 11, 2006
yes o @ddizzle,

as far as parents are concerned, all of them came first from Primary to University. Worse is if they got some scholarship to study abroad, everything don scatter be that. All of them graduated in flying colours, its only that the pictures are not to many for verification purposes.

and there is usually that difficult subject that all parents passed through, and they had to burn the candle, go on reading for like 3 whole days, including fasting and praying, which they finally passed, and 'came out in flying colors', while all the other students in the class failed.

Celebrities / Re: Obba Babatunde: US-Based Celebrity by kimba(m): 2:48am On Jul 11, 2006
@Layi
point of correction
Anyone heard of Obba Babatunde? Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens. He wasnt named O.B. He decided to change his name when he traced his roots to Nigeria. He's 1 of holywood superstars (starred in movies like "that Thing You Do","Life","undercover Blues", Multiplicity etc). He also appeared in "Chicago hope". Obba Babatunde is an Actor, Singer, Choreographer, Musician, Voice actor and Teacher.

I admire such a trait (patriotism) especially these days when Nigerian youths are changing their names ( Kenny for kehinde, Bobby for Bobola, Timmy for Timilehin, Simmy for simisola etc) and adopting new nationalities.

Obba Babatunde is his real name. He didnt rename himself. He didnt find out no roots anywhere. He has a brother called Akin Babatunde. All of them in their family bear their Nigerian names. Its best to say he's of Nigerian decent/of Nigerian Ancestry. It even makes it more unique.

Note that people like Shirley Veronica Bassey, Singer of James Bond title song Goldfinger is also of Nigerian ancestry.

Dear Assistant Boyfriend,
I like the title you have given yourself, imagine by the time you put together your "coolblue loveCV", you would have as a most recent attraction:

Assistant Boyfriend,
Funmi .(surnname goes here), ,
2004 - Present, Nigeria
- As her assistant boyfriend, my activities include wooing her all to no avail. Im still wooing her anyway.

im trying to remind Mr. Filch
- that he just posted a thread similar to this one,

- that a lot of people better/stronger/more intelligent than he was/is had/have/are failed/failing in discrediting Jesus and the Salvation story, so even though all he's(Filch) saying are all bluffs, at least he should try to put his thoughts together so he wont be outrightly stupid. especially on NL. grin grin grin
Romance / Re: Long Courtship, Good Or Bad by kimba(m): 4:48pm On Jun 03, 2006
@ontop

forget her looks 10years from now or whateva.

even you yourself, are you more handsome now than you were 10years ago. definitely, you have lost all your baby fat which could have made you cuter than you are now(if ure cute),

what am saying is this: after marrying your wife, and she gives birth to her first child, that is the end of Omoge o, everything begins to slack after that, whether she likes it or not. She would even have to work harder for her body to remain "physically alert" than she was as a single lady, so forget 10years.

If you love her, go for her, else, let her know she isnt worth it.
