What do you mean when you say the Bible contradicts itself in this instance? undecided

According to scripture, God's Power encompasses all that which He created meaning that He rules over all that is created by Him hence. His Omnipotence in the context of His creation points to His sovereignty over them all, and not some other ideas of men. undecided

Other ideas of men? If he is omnipotent his power should be encompassing all the things man can imagine AND beyond. If he is restricted by our mere imagination, well....what a "God".

Funny how it was in those days people were still going to their farms at 80 and 90 years, surrounded by loved ones, with belly's full, all housed even though medicine was still natural, technology was basic.

Today, family members are enemies, even murdering and sexually abusing the little ones kept in their care, people are homeless, hungry, jobless, insecure and with all the medical thingy many even die before 50 the rest struggling to make 70 years.

Without a doubt, the past was better hence it is not for nought when we say "o the good ol days"!

How ignorant....who was going to the farm at 80 and 90? If you dont kow that this day, the day you find yourself is the best time to be alive. It records the highest life expectancy in history yet. Things got so good or population grew rapidly. In the days, your village could be raided any time. To make sure that didnt happen you had to go on raids yourself which meant young men dying left and right. Agricultural practices couldnt account for the growing population so if the raiders dont kill you or enslave you, the hunger will. Also diseases were all over the place. Or wait, you think they were being cured by herbs all the time? What a joke. If you don't know, please go and educate yourself.

Lol. What are the criteria of being a god?
Your little self is in no position to describe what qualities of God should be.

"A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions."- Google.

Lets not forget that the God we speak of is YHWH, the supreme version of the above definition. Seems you don't know what a God is.

The evidence I see watching the humans I see.

Some humans are like Adams, created from mud and stuck naked in a Garden, afraid to learn for fear they might die. These are the majority of humans.

Some are like Eve who some say is a rib, though she would know better if you asked her. She disbelieves and tests every spirit to see if she'd die least Adam might be deceiving her or be deceived himself, after all he ignorantly did say she was his rib. A lot less humans are like these.

And some are in the Image of Gods. They are fruitful and increase and fill and subdue and rule, and every seed-bearing plant is theirs for food. These are like very rare but do exist.

There's other types too, mind, but these three I find covers us all.

What? Is that what people consider evidence these days? This isn't evidence of anything. You are drawing a parallel to something you have not proven exist in the first place. So how do you speak of evidence?

When I hear or see the above bolded then Im in awe of how arrogant today's youth can be. These days are horrible? These are the best days yet. Medicine has improved, tech is so far in, people eat and go hunting for sports because food abound. Little to no wars. Entertainment is at an all time high, there is everything for everyone.

You think the olden days are good right? Maybe you should pick a book and read how horrible those days were or watch a youtube video. Then come back and repeat that line. The world hasn't been better, my friend. Please reconsider this statement.

I think it does make sense.

Evidence shows that some are created in God's image to rule and subdue and dominate and be blessed, while some are created naked from mud to slave in the Garden of Eden and not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for fear that they will die.

Thankfully, there's also a certain unbelieving Eve who used her own senses to check if she would die if she ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil only to find it good for food and for opening eyes and for gaining wisdom and for freeing from slavery in Eden from where she went in to be self employed and populated the earth with humans who are now on the way to rule over and subdue and dominate the moon and Mars.

The question then becomes, are you created in God's Image or are you descendants of stupid ignorant Adam, or at least use her own senses Eve?

Evidence? What evidence?

Well. Solomon, david, abraham, Isaac to name a few all blessed by Yahweh had multiple wives. If you can give me a quote that says polygamy is sinful and against the law I will wait. Also do you know 1 woman who was permitted to marry more than 1 husband in the bible? I will wait.

Where is what written? This is just silly. A man is allowed to marry multiple women but a woman is allowed only one man. Even a divorcee lady is not allowed to find another man, lest she commits "fornication" (adultery is a made up word)...even if her husband was the one that divorced her. She belongs to him and only him. Aside from family (incest) the only sexual immorality is when a man goes after a married woman, because that is another man's property. But if a man "defiles" aka sleeps with a woman who isnt taken (married) den he has to marry her. He is atleast given that option. Is that not defilement of the bed? Yet it is allowed. I dnt have time to send quotations. I know you know. But just in case you want to pretend, i will send the quotes....

Yes now, for both genders, remember the Bible says, " the bed should be undefiled before marriage" meaning man and woman shouldn't taste sex before getting married.

No. It means WOMEN should not taste sex before marriage. The man is free to enjoy as much. I mean,a man can marry so many wives but a woman is stuck to one man for life....according to the bible.

1 John 4:8
'The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.
[He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]
'

Without knowing which of the at least 7-11 sort of loves, is talked off here, you'll struggle with trying to understand what the set phrase 'God is love' means, because you see, love comes in different shades, shapes, forms, levels, conceptualisations et cetera

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
'1If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me],
then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction].
2And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people],
and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge;
and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains,
but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing.
3If I give all my possessions to feed the poor,
and if I surrender my body to be burned,
but do not have love, it does me no good at all.
4Love endures with patience and serenity,
love is kind and thoughtful,
and is not jealous or envious;
love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.
5It is not rude; it is not self-seeking,
it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered];
it does not take into account a wrong endured.
6It does not rejoice at injustice,
but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].
7Love bears all things [regardless of what comes],
believes all things [looking for the best in each one],
hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times],
endures all things [without weakening].
8Love never fails [it never fades nor ends].
But as for prophecies, they will pass away;
as for tongues, they will cease;
as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.
9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part
[for our knowledge is fragmentary and incomplete].
10But when that which is complete and perfect comes,
that which is incomplete and partial will pass away.
11When I was a child, I talked like a child,
I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child;
when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
12For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly
[a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma],
but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face.
Now I know in part [just in fragments],
but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].
13And now there remain:
faith [abiding trust in God and His promises],
hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation],
love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me],
these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.
'

There you have it all, the distinctive features of love (i.e. agape love aka indubitable love, even known as unmistakable love) portrayed as seen in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 above

In relation to the set phrase, God is agape love, God is agape love, means, God is agape love, that's an epitome of indubitable love, even unmistakable love as well, aligning with all thats featured in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 about agape love.

Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories.

These are not features of love. This is poetry containing the word love.

The other guy gave a great list of features of God's love. He atleast was sincere.

1. I don't understand. Are you saying that because the marjority choose to fear death, means the view of those who don't is pretentious? undecided

2. I didn't liken Death and Calamity to God's Love. You should re-ead my response to you again. instead, I pointed out that they are both part of life which is born of love. That child you claim to love so much, you knowingly conceived and brought into an existence that guarantees Calamity and Death, in the name of love. If you you me, what is pretentious is claiming to love your children yet despising Death and Calamity which are guarantees of life. undecided

3. God is Love. The features of Love are all that God does.
▪︎ When God created man, that was love in action
▪︎ When God cursed man after he rejected God's Original plan, that was love in action
▪︎ When God denied man eternity, and let him go fend for himself on this here world, that was love in action
▪︎ when God killed the firstborn of Egypt, that was love in action
▪︎ When God drowned Pharaoh's army in the sea, that was love in action
▪︎ When God killed over 10,000 Israelites in one day out in the desert, that was love in action
▪︎ When God constituted the Nation of Israel and ratified the Law He gave as the National Constitution of the Jewish state in the Land of Israel, that was love in action
▪︎ When God commanded the annihilation of the enemies of the nation of Israel, that was love in action
.....
▪︎ When God sent two bears to maul 42 boys who stood against His prophet, a message to all in the land of israel, that was love in action
....
I can go on and on but the long and short of this is God is Love and so everything God does is love. undecided

So you may wonder how a human can love as God loves. You do so by obeying His Law and agreement which stipulates what you need do to show Him love and to love your fellow man.. undecided

1. You don't liken love to death and calamity yet liken it anyways.

2. Yes it is pretentious when you make your claim out to be the concencus (if you didn't then you had no business referencing it.) In this argument, you niche feelings means nothing. Especially after talking a lot about "Normal".

As for the rest, I rest my case. What beautiful LOVE. Im sure if it was a human that exhibited these things we will say same. Oh Im sorry! The rules are different for God.

I didnt assume. From personal experience I know, that on this side of eternity, meaning while in the land of the living, with the help of my brain, I am aware of experiencing both physical and mental pain.

Now watch this, in the spiritual realm, in the realm of incorporeality, a different mechanism, exclusive to a use of gray matter, is used to register pain or experience delight

So you want to play this sort of card, no problem, two can play the game. Meet me below

I am sure this is not a science class

On the contrary, it is very necessary. Necessary because the conversation goes into a realm operating beyond the constraints or limit of a three dimension

While you focused on defining what fibromyalgia alone is, what you really was asked, is, whats the correlation between emotional pain and fibromyalgia?

Psalm 63:1
'A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee:
my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
'

Hmmm at Psalm 63:1 too smiley

Do you see the parallelism with the rich man, asking for a dip of the tip of Lazarus finger in water to cool his tongue for him though with Psalm 63:1? The point here, is that, without physical bodies, without physical organs, even without a brain, we are capable of having semblance of sensations, be aware of things, as it were, using other mechanisms while existing or operating in a different dimension

You didnt asking a hard hitting question at all. Try my question here for effect

Is the soul capable of feeling pain or does the soul feel pain?

Yes, of course, even without a body, (i.e. meaning beyond a 3 dimensional setting or set up) the soul, incomparably, is capable of experiencing other-dimensionally more painful pain

You're taking great pains in believing its a bit flawed. Even if a bit flawed, what of the bigger picture, thats not flawed

Thanks for confirming my point that emotional pain, is less accessible to medicine treatment.

Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories.

1. It is a scienc class. Please refer to my OP. The premise was scientific and whether there is a connection with the proposed "spiritual". That is the whole point of the thread.

2. If the soul is capable of feeling pain, through which means will the soul feel this pain? Explain these things well for me. Don't quote claims like you have been doing. Im asking you to prove your claims. Can you do that?

3. The last bit has nothing to do with the OP. Emotions are processed in the brain. I believe you agreed with this.

I don't want to reference the other point because they are digressing and certainly devoid of the evidence Im looking for.

As for God behaving in what you consider a non-loving way sometimes, I believe you are terribly mistaken in your reasoning. The statement "God is Love" implies God is the standard, the definition of Love. Any other standard that falls short of God is not Love and is hence not loving. undecided

It is pretentious because you we are talking generally here and you are only talking about how you will feel.
Edit: I was thinking of another post when I wrote my earlier post. Sorry.

You earlier likened death and calamity to God's love or God being a personification of love. You drew that parrallel. If God is love then what is love? What are the features of love?

It depends on the soul, if the soul will feel pain then or not feel pain, however, it'll be safe to say that, the soul will feel pain, a similar way, one feels pain in dreams. The way you know that you're having a piss in a dream, is the same way the soul, you essentially, can be aware of feeling or having pain

How do you assume one feels pain in a dream? Where do you think this dream pain is processed and the urine analogy too. Where do you think these impulses are processed?

NNTR:

Its a good enquiry
Are you familiar with the saying:
'The soul has been given it's own ears, to hear things, mind does not understand'

Im sure this is not a poetry class. Where is the science behind this? This statement is unecessary in this conversation.

NNTR:

Now watch this, what's the correlation between emotional pain and fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain and spinal cord process painful and nonpainful signals.-

source: mayoclinic.org

NNTR:

Thats like, whoever the person is that said that, is trying to use a Get Out of Jail Free card.

Hmmm

NNTR:

The bible did say so, that the rich man was tormented though. Or didnt it say so?

It did, now I am asking the hard hitting question regarding those claims.

NNTR:

Physical pain, can with medicine, be made less severe, but mental pain (e.g. sorrow, grief, torment, despair, anguish, depression, dementia etc) is less accessible to treatment. Why is this? It's because of being connected to who we are - our personality, our character, our soul. Try and connect the dots, in the the parable of Lazarus and the dead rich man

You analogy is a bit flawed. Let me explain.

If you have a sore toe because you burnt it then medicine can help it become less severe. But let's say during the treatment the toe is still inteoduced to the fire...what do you think will happen? No amount of medicine can fix that...you will feel more pain. That is same with emotional pain, if you are sick of broken heart, and become clinically depressed, it is advised that along with drugs you avoid anything that may trigger the source of your depression. Then you know for sure that indeed medine works.

Well if you don't wish either your daughter, wife or mother to be a prostitute then it's NOT NORMAL some are going through emotional torture seeing their daughter, wife, sister or mother being a commercial sex worker. When Satan told Eve that mankind will be better of if they turn their backs on God {Gene 3:5} Jesus later enlightened us that Satan is a LIAR {John 8:44} of course mankind doesn't know what is good or bad {Jere 10:23} otherwise you won't be here arguing about what is not normal trying to justify it simply because it's not taken as crime in our society.
Well stealing, murder, rape, fraud is NOT NORMAL not because the society frown at the acts but because it a cause for agony in the life of victims even though the culprits feel they're enjoying it.
Likewise prostitution is NOT NORMAL if you won't feel happy seeing your own daughter, wife, sister or mother being a prostitute!

Thanks for sharing your time with me Sir! smiley

Normal doesnt mean right or wrong. Normal means consistent and "acceptable"you behavior. I put acceptable in quotes because again it doesn't mean right thing but rather part of our daily lives so much so that no body bats an eye when these things happen.

In Ghana a taxi driver returned a huge amount to a certain passenger and it was news. He was hailed and everyone donated to him. What can we learn from this

1. It is normal to expect the taxi driver to keep the money

2. It was not normal to have him return the money

3. Corruption is the order of the day, the new normal.

The mechanism used, to give awareness of pain, in the land of the living, is different from the mechanism, used to give awareness of pain or sense it, in the realm of the dead

Can you find delight in your daughter (adult), wife or mother being a PROSTITUTE?
Your response as in reaction to this question will tell if it's NORMAL or ABNORMAL! smiley

I realised you dodged the initial question. Let's back up, you are digressing seriously.

What gladdens people's heart, is it universal?

Please dont use outliers and dont digress. Stay on topic.

To answer your question I will not be happy. But prostitution is normal in our society.

1. The important thing is you admit God did it to Job, not Satan. The "glory" of that which happened to Job rightly went to God and not to Satan who was simply God's orders. Job made sure of that throuhout his ordeal. Something very much unlike what is obtained with millions in Christiandom who instead glorify Satan every chance they get. undecided

2. Well, God never promised even Job tranquility on earth, so the trauma he experienced was, I wouldn't say to be expected, but not out of the question. undecided

Yes, God did kind of admonish Job for demanding he be allowed to make his case before God but God blessed Job for doing exactly what he, Job did. Meaning it was not wrong for Job to demand answers for God in the way He did. God answered Job, did He not? If that isn't a good picture of YHWH, I don't know what else is. undecided

3. I would rather state that the story of Job teaches of How it is, all of it, under the sovereign control of God. He allows it all to happen, this as He holds the reigns on it all. undecided

As for Satan, he definitely works for God, not as a brother, but a servant who does the bidding of the the who is His Master and creator after all. undecided

If a human being did this to their child, would you call that person loving and powerful?

NNTR:
Nervous system has to do with fibres connecting different parts of the body and not the soul. So the soul doesnt have a nervous system, which, in itself, is an attribute of the physical body

Its the combustion in the Lake of Fire, just like the incinerator refuse dump, Gehenna in ancient Jerusalem smoulders, that goes on forever. Might interest you to know that death, hell and souls dont continue burning after already being done combusted. No souls registers pain forever, no soul registers pain, after combustion is done.

Pain can be felt physically (i.e. via the NS) and as well can be felt mentally (i.e. without NS necessarily being involved)

Luke 16:19-24
'19“Now there was a certain rich man who was habitually dressed in expensive purple and fine linen, and celebrated and lived joyously in splendor every day.
20And a poor man named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, covered with sores.
21He [eagerly] longed to eat the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.
22Now it happened that the poor man died and his spirit was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom (paradise); and the rich man also died and was buried.
23In Hades (the realm of the dead), being in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom (paradise).
24And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in severe agony in this flame.’
'

You dont need the brain to process the pain
It's not unusual to be aware of pain or have knowledge of severe torment, intense wretchedness, worrisome suffering, agonising discomfort, debilitating affliction et cetera. The rich man, in the great beyond, there at Luke 16:24, obviously without a brain, without any nervous system et cetera, is traumatised enough to be aware of being under some serious stress or tension

Brings home that Vanna Bonta RIP observation, where it contrasts, the pain of the body with the pain of the soul. Her remark is:
'The body knows no pain, not like the soul.
At least a nerve has limits, a body part, a name.
But the soul... the soul... There is no bandage ...
'

Personal text: Jesus is not a theologian. He is God who told stories.

My brother, the nervous system involves the brain. If the pain is processed in the brain, the nervous system is involved. Know this and know peace. Revise your post and come back. I would like to engage you more.
