Waooo!!! this act is so evil. Although the quick response of the government in this particular case is really heating the polity considering its approach in past cases, Nigerians should really look into this issue of set up by drug cartels at the airport.

Why don't we canvass for a system that gives a passenger an input into how your luggage are tagged?

Listed among the items on the tag, the number of luggage a passenger is carrying should be indicated on the tags. for example if i have 3 luggage; bag one should be 1/3; bag two should be 2/3; bag three should be 3/3 etc. The passenger should also have a copy of these tags.

If there is an additional bag, definitely the passenger can't have 4/3 as the case may be.

Was the government response that quick? Zainab was arrested on 27 December 2018 and was in detention till the end of April 2019.

She was apparently not charged by the Saudi because the case against her was not really watertight.

Note that she travelled with her mother and sister and they had already entered Saudi Arabia, left the airport town of Jeddah for Medina before the Saudi drug agency went to their hotel room in the evening alleging that a bag tagged in her name was left unclaimed at the airport but the family insisted that all their luggage were with them in the hotel.

Otege nonsense! Kwara is a conquered territory that should be your real battle shocked shocked shocked whoever rules tie them to a tree tongue

You didn’t get it. Saraki was not fought by the Kwara Must Change movement because of his struggles at the federal level on NASS leadership but to loosen his grip on the political fate of Kwarans.

Note that the pioneer leader of the anti-Saraki movement before 2015 elections was Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo who was the PDP Chairman in Kwara. In fact, the movement had banked on PDP’s federal might support in that 2015 elections to wrestle Kwara from the hands of Saraki who had decamped to APC from PDP but the attempt failed.

It was that failure by the Akogun led movement in 2015 that gave birth to Kwara Must Change movement under new leadership.

Abuja Sheraton is a dead zone. Not that it was ever really alive in the first place. It has always been a poor substitute for the Hilton.

But it's even worse now. Nobody reckons with it anymore. This so-called luxury business takes no prisoners.

Hilton is actually helped by federal government patronage. Many rooms are permanently booked by government whether occupied or not.

Occupancy rate of “4/5” star hotels in Abuja is not high to make them profitable. That is why they shine only in the first year of opening and after that, they begin to look like brothels.

It is surprising that up till now, nobody sees anything wrong with the pictures vis-a-vis the headline.

Do those pictures depict a convocation scene? Why is nobody in academic gown?

It was actually an occasion for presentation of Chinese scholarships to outstanding 2nd year students based on their 1st year academic results.

The scholarships is worth N100,000 each and donated by the Chinese Embassy.

Those students are potential first class but not yet first class graduates.

What is wrong with these Nigerians?

Nigeria uses her crude oil export sales to maintain relationships with several countries and that is why they MUST export. It is the only thing the country has to export. Selling all 1.2 million barrels of crude oil daily to Dangote means Nigeria as a nation would now have almost zero exports.

THEY MUST EXPORT.

Is there a law that requires you must export oil as crude and not refined?

So you think our oil is being sold to foreign governments rather than companies in those countries?

If it is to maintain relationships with countries, how come we have several unsold cargoes even presently that we have to offer deep discounts in order to sell?

I don’t know whether you are deliberately trolling or your knowledge is embarrassingly limited.

Nigeria produces less than 2 million barrels per day.

The foreign oil companies that mine our crude oil take 40% of the crude oil and give FG 60%.

Leaving us with 1.1 - 1.2 million barrels.

Some crude oil will be looted.

FG would have to sell some as well to generate funds.

The remaining crude oil will be far less than 600k barrels daily, which Dangote needs.

He also has the Niger deltans to contend with to get crude oil he needs.

The emboldened part means what?
The money Nigeria gets from selling crude to Dangote is different from the type of money it will get by selling oil to foreign refineries or who do you think the buyers of oil are?

Dangote would have a lot of problems sourcing over 500k barrels of crude oil everyday for his refinery to process

Why would he have problem sourcing for half a million barrels per day?

Nigeria produces 2 million per day. It is to Nigeria’s advantage that it now have a ready market for a quarter of that production. Note that whatever Dangote buys from Nigeria is regarded as part of its agreed opec production quota.

Now supposing something happened to Nigeria oil wells and Nigeria cannot produce, Dangote will simply import all the crude it needs from other producing countries. Even USA will gladly fill the vacuum. It won’t stop production even for a second.

OPEC has ordered that Nigeria should reduce their barrel-per-day (bpd) production from 6,000 to nothing more than 2,500. This is in the bid to drastically reduce gas flaring and save the environment. The world is turning to alternative energy solutions that don't need petrol.

If Dangote had envisaged this about 4 years ago before he started the refinery project, I am sure he would have halted it!

Just like he recently sold his flour mills, I know he will sell the refinery to the highest bidder with an underpriced amount in the nearest future.

And talking about safeguarding his investments, I am sure the oil wells that caught fire in Ondo were well safeguarded right?

cescky:

Very sensible post

Truth is if Dangote where to be in a civil society he won't amass this type of wealth...his wealth is gotten by fg chaining his competition and allowing him freedom.

With his type of money if he looked into green energy, he would only make more money in years to come and would have greatly propelled Nigeria... but as competition node he won't think on his feet

Why are you people easily taken in by senseless propaganda?

6,000 barrels per day to 2,500 bpd? When Nigeria is producing 2 million barrels per day. Don’t tell me you meant 6 million barrels because Nigeria doesn’t even have capacity to produce 3 million.

Secondly, what concerns opec with gas flaring? Perhaps you think it is all oil wells in world that have associated gas to be flared? That is peculiar to very few countries. Gas is not under opec purview, that is why Qatar withdrew its membership because it now sees itself as a gas country not oil producing country.

Thirdly, opec exempted Nigeria from production cut because Nigeria could even hardly meet its assigned quota. By the way, the production cut is to reduce oil glut so as to artificially raised the prices when oil prices crashed. The re-imposed sanction on Iran by the USA means the production cut will be reviewed even though Nigeria was never included.

However, the degree of adjustments for all levels from 01 to 17 will not be the same and not in proportion to the increase in the minimum wage.

Lol I wonder if NASS will punk out like usual or overide his veto. They were passionate about this issue and seemed like they had numbers.

They don’t have the numbers. Remember that the bill was sponsored by the Speaker who everybody must try to be in his good book then, not now.

The executive wanted to get foreign investors to fund the completion, all of a sudden, the Speaker visited the place and thereafter organized a stage-managed stakeholder meeting inside the chamber which the executive boycotted. It was at meeting that the house passed a vote of no confidence on Fayemi - the then minister of mines and steel.

Buhari’s major angst with the bill is that it requires part of our foreign reserves to be used to finance the completion of the project. The executive see government further participation in the project as a drain pipe.

can you say any of these reasons apply to his rejection of the Electoral Act amendment?? Ofcourse we all followed up the news then, he delayed a bit after which he rejected it. Does that not mean something?

You should ask why didn’t National Assembly override it.

One of the flaws is a clause that requires voting to be electronically transmitted but was silent on the need to count the votes first. Ordinarily, you would think that counting is a given logically but in law, some smart lawyers will pounce on the lacuna to prove that what is not expressly required by law is discretionary. Also does it mean we should use electronic voting or vote manually and result must be electronically transmitted to a server.

otokx:
If true the INEC Chairman and his entire team needs to be sacked for negligence.

shanaka4u:
In law,it is actually a strong reason to have an election set aside. But I doubt if the court will take in such point and order for a fresh election based on the prevailing situation and the need to prevent political instability.

PDM presidential candidate does not have a valid case and it is an abuse of court process.

Electoral Act requires inec to publish the names of eligible contestants in any election at least 30 days before such election.

On January 17 2019, that was 30 days before the February 16th previously scheduled for presidential election, inec published the final list of 73 presidential candidates and their running mates. PDM was not on the list and he didn’t challenge this in court. Why would he expect his party name to be on the ballot paper?

Aguiyi took over power, and ruled for only 3 months, Note: he maintained the 4 regional government.
Shortly after, the north retaliated, Gowon lead his own coup which saw to the assassination of Aguiyi. He assumed government, abolished the 4 regional government and then came up with Federalism, which lead to the creation of 12 states, 1966.
So where are all this your lies coming from?

What did you drink before writing this thrash? Your history tutor surely owe you a refund.

1. There was no coup on 1 October 1963. The first coup in Nigeria was on 15 January 1966
2. Aguiyi Ironsi didn’t rule for only 3 months. He ruled for 7 months from January to July 1966
3. It was Aguiyi Ironsi that abolished the regional government through the Unification Decree [Decree 34] that he issued on 24 May 1966 and he replaced federal government with Central government while restructuring regional government as Group of Provinces. Provinces were equivalent of local governments
4. Gowon didn’t create 12 states in 1966 but in May 1967.

Decree No. 34

[24th May 1966]

THE FEDERAL MILITARY GOVERNMENT hereby decrees as follows:

Subject to the provisions of this Decree, Nigeria shall on 24th May 1966 (in this decree referred to as ‘the appointed day’) cease to be a Federation and shall accordingly as from that day be a Republic, by the name of the Republic of Nigeria, consisting of the whole of the territory which immediately before that day was comprised in the Federation.

As from the appointed day—

the Federal Military Government and the Federal Executive Council shall be known respectively as the National Military Government and The Executive Council;
the Federal territory shall be known as the Capital territory;
the provinces, including Kaduna capital territory, in schedule 1 of this Decree which immediately before the appointed day were respectively comprised in Northern Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria, Western Nigeria and Mid-Western Nigeria shall be known respectively as the Northern group of Provinces, the Eastern group of Provinces, the Western group of Provinces and the Mid-Western group of Provinces;
for the purpose of administration each group of provinces shall subject to the authority of the Head of the National Military Government, be under the general direction and control of a Military Governor appointed by the Head of the National Military Government;
Act No. 20 of 1963 (that is to say the Constitution of the Federation) may be cited as the Constitution of the Republic.

The only further requirement for Tanko to be re-appointed instead of anyone else is that NJC will now recommend him to the president as required by section 231(5) which you earlier quoted. Perhaps you missed this opening clause of that section which reads
