I finally booked my date for 18th dec in lagos. How I wish i didnt have to travel to lagos for this interveiwe.. Well... it only makes it even more worth it when i eventually get the visa. ... Now im preping and prayin harder.

@imperiouxx, will vo make reference to my first interveiwe?...

Can someone who has been to lagos consulate recently give me an idea of what to expect from VOs in lagos. Are they harsh? do they give u time to express yourself(Abuja VOs let you express urslf well). What are the most frequent questions dey asking F1s applicants this time around..? Are dey asking for transcripts,.. cos i dont have one, my school doesnt give transcripts to students(strict policy).
first of all best of lucks, wen at the embassy try to get the young lady at the first counter to interview u(she might not b at d first ccounter wen u go, she's like 26 or less) she's very friendly even helps u wen u forget ur answers n eventually grants u ur visa, the guy next to her asks u all the questions in the world and still denies u(u myt get lucky), then there's this guy at the last counter. He's the olny white I saw that has much bears among them the rest shaved theirs, he asks just tw o questions and then arrive at ur past travelling experience and then that's it, he dosent ask for any document, dosent even type just kips looking at you, he denied almost everybody I saw that went to him weather visiting or schooling and I believe his name is drake, cos I know I friend who told me that he came for there orientation and he even knows him cos he called him by his name(my friend)during hs interview and he denied him, just try and skip him but if u cant just kip reciting psalm 121..all the best

imperiouxx: kpolli,

Lagos, Nigeria is 23401. I use that all the time and my mails never go to Virginia, USA. Really, it's a dialing code for Lagos, Nigeria but in the case where zip code is required, it serves the same function.

@knock out,

Even without that code, your mail should get to it's destination safely. What matters in the case of country like Nigeria is the full traceable address within each state in Nigeria. If I write my address as this:

1111111, Oba Akran Road,
Ikeja, Lagos,
Nigeria.

It's enough to get my mail to the above address.
thanks still waiting on it..cos i was told it takes jst 3days, now is taking a week plus

I received my 1-20 thru FEDEX nd I got it like 3 working days aftr.. Bt normally it should take 5 working days @ most. Bt the fact that their system does not recognise ur tracking number means sumthng is wrong. So I think you should send an email to the admissions office at the skl nd tell them what's goin on.
thanks but the school already sent the document to a third party in the states, and third party was the person that sent me the document..am guessing is because i didnt include the 23401 zip code

Na waa ooo i wonder when fights will end for this thread...you guys should take it easy ooo...Yvete and AnthonyMighty...please take it easy...
. Well yvete in as much you are trying to help, watching ur language is very necesary..you might think you are being smart, but u dont know the damage u must have cost that guy.as for ur past infos u r doing a very good job providing solutions and probabilitis for peeps on here i really appreciate that..we all here wants to study in america the only reason why some make up story to help them cross the consular is cos there story might not be as sweet as the other guys story..even some who are applying has rich fathers some has traveled 2 american before, while has a very good job, not every one has that opportuinity...this is the first time i will be contributing on this thread i hope it helps some1 out dere my cousin just recieved his visa this week to go study at the same community college i applied to, the major factor in securing a vise is God and trust me no pastor can help u exept u talk 2 God ur self, cos some times the consular sees u and just decide not to issue u a visa even without interview so in the interview he now looks for excuse 2 deny u, secondly lie constructively if your story is not good enuff u are young and a student make research on ur own and lie with points and facts trust me it has helpd many people i know and make sure it connects strongly to ur case..n dont smile too much cos they already know that factor, have an answer 2 every question even doe it requires making them up, then the rest is up 2 baba..will post my second experince soon after my interview

screamie: Hey Everyone! I was once an ardent follower of this thread. I got lots of information from this thread when I applied for an F1 visa last year (got it!).

But unfortunately, school work has kept me busy and I have been less frequent on the thread. I noticed that there are few people on the thread to advise, encourage and share experiences with people applying for undergraduate studies. Because of the benefits I got from this thread, I am pledging to come on the thread more frequently and scout out people esp. undergraduate applicants who may need advice or encouragement based on my knowledge of the process.

I applied for undergraduate studies when I got my F1 visa last year, and just to encourage other undergraduate applicants especially those who have been out of a secondary or post secondary school for a long period of time, don't be discouraged, but that is not to say you should be relaxed. There are several loopholes you would have to fix, in order to be considered for an F1 visa.

Like I said, I will be lurking around!
Thanks for still lurking around so whats your story..and please shed more light on the info you have about dose who have finished secondary school for a long time also what are the loopholes the person has 2 fix ASAP

Yvete: "thanks alot..am never a science student but i'd love 2 study the pharmacy even though is not close 2 political science which i did to satisfy my dad..i've written the ibtoefl and scored 80/120 wich more than d score d school required..once again thanks yvete"

You're welcome and I wish you success at your next appointment! Find a way to explain the bolded. If I were you, I'd apply for a Masters or Intl transfer in Pol. Sci or Intl Relations and change my major to Pre-Pharm when I get here because you don't sound too convincing. Having jumped from Pol Sci -> Music -> Pharmacy looks unserious. Pharmacy requires 100% full time commitment for almost 6years! You need to know and show what you will do with your degree when you return home. Explain your good (plausible) future plans. If you insist to go ahead with pre-pharm, I'd say that my Dad was a grassroot politician that encouraged me to study Pol.Sci, but my true passion is in healthcare and I chose Pharmacy. bla bla bla" ... My 0.02cents
PRAY, PREPARE and PRAY again cos' you need a MIRACLE!
thanks once again yvete the main reason am going for pre phancy is that my aunty owns a company in the united states that provides homes for the people who circumstance can't allow to do the normal day to day activities like bathing, taking medications, going out, also providing medications for them and other things the company has been succesful in the united states now she wants to open a branch in nigeria that i will be the main operator so in other for me to do that she wants me to come and atlist study pharmacy to help me in running the place proparly..in as much as u've given me so many advice i still need more thanks and once again how long does it take for the embassy to call u for interview when u book for emergency

Yvete: @Knock-out

"I just got admitted into a community college in Michigan..finished secondary school 2005..finished from Lasu were i studied political science and all i have 2 show for it presently is my statement of results. I have been denied visa last year cos i was going as a performer(a musician) at health care free show." I'd advise you NOT to hurriedly schedule an interview without adequate preparation because you've been denied before. What's wrong with your statement of result? Didn't they issue a diploma? Whilst some people may have gotten visas with Junior Colleges, its always advisable to apply to a 4-yr College. Can your "Favorite Aunty" apply at a 4-yr College Pharmacy program on your behalf? When you get here, you can always transfer to Henry Ford.
Prepare answers for the following; Did you write TOEFL?
Why the change of major from Pol Sci.to Pharmacy? Why did you abandon your music career? How do you convince the VO that you will not continue as a performer and drop the pharmD program?
Is this your Aunt resident in the US going to sponsor your education? Be prepared to answer what she does (career/business wise). SUCCESS!!
thanks alot..am never a science student but i'lld love 2 study the pharmacy even though is not close 2 political science which i did to satisfy my dad..i've written the ibtoefl and scored 80/120 wich more than d score d school required..once again thanks yvete
