Hi Everyone, In my last update here, I reported that the lawyer never came for verification during the visa waiting process. However, last week the embassy surprised me by paying the verification money back. I sent someone to collect 150K back from the embassy as they requested. To God be the Glory. knogbu: 2 Likes |

To God be the glory. I finally arrived Germany Yesterday. I have never experienced this type of cold in my life but I am happy to be with my Spouse. The whole process of applying for German Family Reunion Visa and arriving here safely (18 long and frustrating months) was for me a difficult one. I am still surprised that the lawyer never visited me. For me, this is a miracle and it can happen to anyone on the process. God can change the rule for you. Also, My A1 was long expired and I was not asked to submit a new one. This might be because I also possess a B1 certificate which my spouse submitted in direct to Auslandermpt. Lessons I learnt in this whole thing is that only God can do it. Submit all the requirements and pray to God for the rest. In the last 18 months, I have been on this page everyday (very amazing). However, I will always check to contribute from my experiences and also to give back to the community that many times brought relief to me. Good luck guys. I am still indoors (under the covers ooo because of cold) but I am happy. knogbu: 6 Likes |

The issuance of your visa is largely determined by the Foreigners office (Immigration) of the city in Germany where your spouse lives. The embassy only issues visa when the immigration office directs them to do so. Therefore, the most important thing is to find out if the Immigration has asked your spouse here to submit documents, and also if they have finished processing that here. I will recommend all who is waiting to ask their spouse here to do a follow-up from this side. From observations here, there has been a slow response in getting appointment for 'Residence Permit Extension'. I know persons who applied since and their permit has already expired and yet no date for another appointment. Have in mid that since covid19 started, they now ask you to post your documents and only invite you for bio-metrics in rare cases. These same office handling internal visa extension for foreigners here are also responsible for approving 'long term visas'. The waiting period is also long if your coming to the state of NRW which has high population. you can only imagine how many persons requiring attention from this office daily. Turkish, Syrians, Chinese, Ghanaians, Kenyans, Ethiopians, etc all visits this office regularly. Cities like Essen, Bonn, Dusseldorf, etc have high populations and this affects the process. Berlin is better because they have 3 offices and can handle crowd effectively. As we wait, we pray no to wait longer than necessary, Covid19 really has greatly impacted on this visa issuance. Please, find out if your spouse has been contacted in Germany doctormaliko: 1 Like |

The good news is that at least, they have started considering students. Every other thing will fall in place. God will see una through this bottleneck. I was once in such shoe back in 2018. However, I will also advice here for people to look at other countries. I get sad when i read about those who keep applying to German embassy every year but to no avail. Spread your tentacles. Before I arrived here, my whole plans were for Canada. The year it failed, I switched to Norway. When that failed too, I switched to Germany and I came here. I never in my wildest dream planned to study here but sometimes, one is destined to follow a path chosen by his God. Those blocked account monies can comfortable take you to other EU nations that are good. Such option is better than wasting precious time for German visa appointment that is becoming harder to get. Imagine the admission/semester fee plus blocked account? If really U wish to study, an alternative developed nation is as good as coming here to Germany. It sad to read all these stories here. your spouse can approach the VO at the foreign office in the city (in Germany) and ask for clarifications. Most times, if the person is nice, useful answers are given Sweethoneypour: |

Hi, If you are successful, the embassy will write u an email requesting for your passport and 3 or 6 months health insurance. They will also ask you to put your travel date 11 days from the date they will receive your passport and health insurance. All these docs plus the originals will be returned using the courier envelope which you submitted during visa application. nuel80: 1 Like |

Hello, Are you aware if your spouse in Germany has been contacted by Auslanderampt to show evidence of adequate accommodation and financial status? If not, such affected person can write the visa officer in charge of his/her file and request for appointment to do so. Most times, they can delay without any reason brendybliss1: |

your spouse need to provide a suitable accommodation contract of at least 12 sqm per adult and a salary contract of (bank statement of savings is also allowed) about 400 euro per month for you for atleast 6 - 12 months. These things vary depending on the person incharge of your file. I know a city (Siegen) that requires a student to show blocked account anytime they come for visa extension. Some cities simply ask for bank statement of your savings. When did the lawyer visit you for verification? brendybliss1: |

Anyone who lives in Lagos or in the west has an advantage. It is easier for the lawyers to visit. I pity those who reside in Sokoto or Bayelsa nuel80: 1 Like |

Thank you for your reply. However, I wrote the Goethe guys and they said no exams till school reopens in Nigeria. Does it mean someone can have her visa ready but will continue to wait to write exams which there is no date for now? Maybe they are not aware that the geothe exams are suspended? nuel80: |
