Joiceee: Find the department’s chair person’s email and explain your situation. Copy every e-mail possible you find on the department’s page. Your email has to be civil and pleasant for faster response. 1 Like |

folamorgan: Thank you so much. The problem is conversion. If we convert to naira, we will lose a lot of money trying to convert back to USD. |

Luckyuk: The only way is apply already if you haven’t. Then keep checking your CGi profile for closer dates. Dates may be released in May and June. So best to be registered in the system. Get your I20 from your school if you haven’t. Pay Sevis fee. Start a DS 160 application. Create a CGI profile. Pay for visa fee. You can pay visa fee before submitting your Ds 160. But make sure you submit as soon as possible. |

Good people, please for F2 application, we already have the required funds for husband and 2 kids (3 F2s) available in my account (the F1) Does my husband need to have extra money in his own account? Like how much? If we are borrowing this extra money, is it problematic to deposit it into his account once or is it better to do it in installments? Thanks so much 🙏 |

She can use ASUU strike as a reason because of its many delays. But you can hear what others think too. |

Hi everyone, Been a silent reader here. Thanks for your educative comments. I have a question. I am an F1 in the US. My husband and kids and in Nigeria and applying for their F2 visas. I filled the DS-160 forms for all 3 of them because my husband is busy. So, he reviewed the forms and edited some details from his end. For the question (who helped you to fill this form) I responded that I did and filled in my name. And we submitted. Now, an F2 advisor I asked suggested that we should retrieve the forms and respond that he filled them himself. Has anyone been in this situation or knows anything about this? If we retrieve the forms and change the answer, isn’t the 1st answer already recorded in their system? I appreciate your responses🙏 1 Like |

Hello everyone, Thank you for your useful tips on everything concerning abroad study. I have been a silent render and have learned a lot. I was recently offered a full ride scholarship + stipend and TA position at Iowa State University, thanks to the tips I read here. I am currently preparing for the Visa process and I have absolutely no idea on how to proceed. Here's my situation: I have two children, 4 and 1, and they will be staying with their dad here in Nigeria (for now) to allow me study time. But I want them to be able to visit me throughout the duration of my study (3 - 4 years). Should I go for a visiting Visa for my husband and our kids or should I opt for a resident Visa for them? How long before a visiting Visa expires? Can dependents with a resident Visa live outside the US for longer than 6 months? (What I mean here is, can they still live in Nigeria and visit me like twice a year if they have a resident Visa?) How much (in naira) should I provide as proof of funds if I am going to get a resident Visa for them? Like I said, I know nothing about all this. I'd appreciate it if someone who has been in such situation or knows much about it gives me helpful tips. Thank you. 2 Likes |
