Phones / Beware! Starcomms Products Are Of Poor Quality And Have No Warantees by ksolo(m): 5:10pm On Sep 11, 2007
Hello Nairalanders,

I had the biggest shock today when i went to Starcomms office to complain about my nonfuctional mobile internet card and was told it is no longer under warantee and as such they cannot replace with a new one. This card was purchased in April this year, which is still less than six months. The most annoying part is the way their customer service personel attend to customers and the saying that all their products have a warantee of 3 months.I mean i wont pay 10k for a product i know i wont be able to use after 3 months, it just doesnt make sense.

The fact that the warantee card in the product pack says users are covered for a year while STARCOMMS says nothing at the point of purchase until you complain, is an indicator to fact that they know these chinese products they sell to us are unreliable, and also a pointer to the fact that their intention is to dupe Nigerians by selling fake and sub-standard products to them. I hope the S.O.N and  NCC are aware of this fraud and if they dont, i promise everyone i will be writing a letter of complaint to them soon. We just cant sit down n let some pple rip us off.

So i want you all to be very aware when next you want to do business with STARCOMMS.  No wonder their offices are are like marketplaces filled with pple who are there to complain about a cheap and faulty product they bought from STARCOMMS or the shoddy and unimpressive service they render to their subscribers.

BEWARE MY FRIENDS!!!!

Bless you all

Business / Re: The STB Mastercard Maestro: Credit and Debit Cards in Nigeria by ksolo(m): 3:45pm On Jan 31, 2006
I find this revelation from cheetahcub et al very amazing, cos i carry this card and since the day i obtained it, i have only been able to make payment for a software i downloaded for my handheld device and that took place in August 2005. All subsequent payments i tried making with this card where denied as the system complains of it's inability to get an authorization for the payment e.g-ebay. Reason for this, i honestly dont know. Maybe because the card originates from Nigeria or for other reasons unknown to me. All i know is that, the card has remained with me, utterly useless.

Out of anger i had to go to to an ATM machine to withdraw my money in cash, but ended up losing cos the machine paid me at the rate of 126/usd, about 19 Naira less than the amount i bought the $.

Lastly, I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell be a better medium of making online payment, that is legitimate and without prejudice to people residing in Nigeria, cos intend returning this this card back to the issuing bank.

Honestly we are not ripe for this system of payment.
