Last week in Kogi state university was a great one as meenatnigeria media for the first time in history of the institution, KSU organised a Presidential debate for those contesting for the post of President in the forthcoming coming students union government.

This debate which can be likened to the national presidential election debate has as its focus, to expose /introduce the aspirants to the students and inform to familiarize them with their mission and vision statements as the to-be SUG President.

I wish to use this medium to communicate the school management putting forward the idea of semester payment of school fee by students. This will be of great benefits to both students and the school management if the present policy on the tuition is reviewed. The issue of non-payment of school fee by students of Kogi State University has become a serious challenge to both the students and the school management. This is frustrating the students and even the efforts of the management to run the school smoothly.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Bakut Tswah Bakut as the Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).

The appointment, according to a statement on Friday by the Resident Information Officer, IPCR, Abu Michael, was conveyed in a letter with reference: SGF.6/S.7/T/187, signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

According to Abu, the SGF’s letter to Bakut read: “I am pleased to inform you that Muhammadu Buhari, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved your appointment as Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution for an initial term of four (4) years in accordance with Section 9 (3) (a) of the IPCR (Establishment) Act, 2007.”

He also said that Bakut in his response, pledged his unalloyed support to the Federal government and commitment to repositioning IPCR for greater service to Nigeria and Africa.

“Bakut also commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its understanding and support when he held sway in an acting capacity since August 8, 2018,” Abu added.

Bakut, a doctorate degree holder in International Relations, according to Abu, had since August 7, 2014, fulfilled the necessary requirements for professorial position as satisfied by external assessors.

“Chairman of the IPCR Governing Council on 18th December 2018, approved him as a Professor of International Relations and African Studies,” Abu further said.

Education / We Will Release Results On Saturday - JAMB by Kurentloaded(m): 9:56pm On May 10, 2019
THREE weeks after keeping candidates who sat for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME, in the dark, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examinations, JAMB, Friday, declared that the examination would be released Saturday.

The announcement came as the board paraded a staff for allegedly duping an admission seeker of the sum of N25,000.



JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyode, speaking to newsmen at the board’s headquarters,in Abuja, said the declaration will precede a meeting holding Friday evening.

He said: ”We are holding a meeting now so we can have all the details available by tomorrow. We are releasing our result tomorrow.”

He, however, did not speak further on the issue.

Oloyode later paraded a staff, whose identity was given as Adamu Musa Matthew, for allegedly duping an admission seeker of the sum of N25,000.
