Music/Radio / Re: My Review of "Pami" by DJ Tunez ft "Wizkid", Omah Lay and Adekunle Gold by lablonclacla: 12:56pm On Aug 17, 2020
Wizkid is still the greatest musician in Nigeria......forget all this burna hype. When we talk of range i.e how you can easily jump on any genre of song and still deliver well. Wizkid does it 100% e.g this jam called PAMI. He does afrobeats, afro fusion, afro pop, reggae dancehall, Caribbean and so on and so forth.

You see the problem is, time makes us easily forget how good this guy is which is understandable. Another major reason is the fact that wizkid doesn't do giveaways and all and so a lot of influencers don't like him at all. So the best option is to bad mouth him and i guess the best selling of all is the fact that he has Zero lyrics. Lol....well, i would give just five songs that have deep lyrics that you all can go check out.

1. Oluwa loni
2. Joy
3. Mummy mi
4. Thank you
5. Ease your mind

You could say these are his old songs but No.5 was released just last year in his last Ep but it isn't popular, you know why.......Nigerians want vibes and beat more than lyrics.

Let me quote a verse from Ease your mind

"Many thing don really open my eyes
Many things don happen wey don open my mind
Things don happen for my life, we make me realize
Sey, many things go happen, and it's real fine
Never let the small talks but the money get to me
I dey work, I dey pray, omo nothing worry me
I put my body on my grind, let the money control me
Sey, my sound dem dey bus', they can't open their jaws
Some days, it fi be like sey your rain no pour
Hear my brother, even if it be like days too long
Even if it be like sey your light no come
Just ease your mind
You know sey, this life na turn by turn
When your time come, my brother, no go gone
When your thing come, my brother, no go rush
Just ease your mind"

This is a beautiful piece up there that is supposed to garner a lot of reviews but did anybody say anything?? No!! The simple answer is this isn't what we want but Joro and soco is known everywhere lol.

Lastly, wizkid has been in the game for more than a decade and is still the biggest. He is the highest and most streamed artiste in Africa forget all the hype of others. He was the first to fill up the mighty o2 arena in london and also the royal albert hall. He has a day in Minnesota called wizkid day. He was the first African artiste to win BET international act and has the highest BET award in Nigeria. He was the first to win MOBO awards too. The only African to have a song on billboard world chat for 15 weeks straight "One Dance" written by him. The pioneer of Africans getting their award on the main stage instead of back stage. He was part of those who made live band for a secular musician in Nigeria attractive. He has tbe biggest shows in Nigeria. Facially he is the citezt too. See, i no fit finish wizzy catalogue jare.

Summary of all these is because he doesn't hype himself and makes noise or do giveaways doesn't change the fact that he is the biggest African artiste.

I'll drop a list of 100 songs of wizkid that blew and you will please counter it with anyone who has as much hit as this BEAST we are underating.

It's a beautiful pass but that happens almost every week from less popular players and there's no fuse about it.

Education / Re: UNILAG Ranked 3rd Most Productive School In Africa In Educating Entrepreneurs by lablonclacla: 9:10am On Jun 06, 2020
seguntijan:
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) was recently acknowledged as the third (3rd) most productive school in educating entrepreneurs in an online publication by Forbes titled: “If You Want To Start A Tech-Company In Africa, Go To College.”

UNILAG was ranked alongside the University of Cape Town, South Africa, which took 1st place; Makerere University, Uganda, which came 2nd; University of Nairobi, Kenya, which came 4th and Stellenbosch University, South Africa, which took 5th place. The article further described the University of Lagos and the University of Nairobi as the “startup powerhouses of Nigeria and Kenya.”

The article, which was written by Meghan McCormick, CEO & Co-founder of OZÉ and contributor on FORBESWOMEN, analysed the importance of education in entrepreneurship in Africa. This was deduced from a research report titled, “Gender & Demographics in Africa’s Green & Digital Transformation”, by Briter Bridges, a data-driven research company.

Although the study population were tech entrepreneurs, it was established that having at least a bachelor’s degree is a significant factor for a startup to thrive in an African country. According to the research data, only 1% of tech entrepreneurs who participated in the study had no degree.

The University of Lagos is delighted about this feature and uses this opportunity to remind great Akokites of it’s mandate to produce talented and creative thinkers who before graduation are fully equipped and poised for the world outside the University campus. Ultimately, UNILAG aims to produce employers of labour, innovators, inventors, creatives and world leaders.

Forbes is an American business magazine that publishes online and in print. Kindly click the links on the article titles above to read them in full.

When i tell you guys Unilag is not overhyped, you all think it's a lie. The funny thing is most of the students are not even interested in hyping and all because they have seen the life in the city and are determined to make it to live that beautiful life the city of lagos has to offer.

When you see the kind of things that enter Unilag every night, nobody go tell you to be street smart to make it. Unlike some group of people always here day and night shouting gbagba gbogbo. I don't really blame them though. Exposure does a lot and Unilag gives 100% of exposure you can ever imagine.

It is no more news that Covenant University in Ogun state is currently trending on Nairaland for their architectural wonders despite being owned by the private sector, Living faith church (AKA WINNERS) See thread here: https://www.nairaland.com/5897222/drone-shots-photos-covenant-university

Well, here is Landmark University, the most beautiful university in the middle belt, the most beautiful university in Kwara state and second most beautiful University in western Nigeria. (Second only to Covenant University also owned by the church)

Landmark University is a Private Christian University, affiliated with Living Faith Church Worldwide and located in Omu-Aran Kwara State, Nigeria. In 2014 it is featured among the top five universities in Nigeria by Webometrics. Landmark University also holds in high esteem her core value Spirituality among others (Wikipedia)

The environment is neat as is same for most schools and maintenance culture is good but that's about it. The masterpiece in the architecture I'm seeing

Now I'm not outrightly saying unilag is better neither am I trying to be biased but most of new structures in unilag outweighs those heavy block work by a mile. The new library design is very cool I hear it's now on hold, even the alumni house and access bank(I know say na bank but it's an architectural something too lol)

Well, let's assume it's private and since it's more of profit oriented, they will try to minimize cost because a well crafted modern architectural design would gulp more money than the block over block decking and roofing pattern. Even modern tall sky scrapers are being designed and not just tall for nothing.

The futuristic design of the faculty of engineering and architecture department in unilag are cool though. Hopefully we get to see them in our lifetime.

Especially for a 21st century university (founded) with a visionary leader/founder all those block structures are disappointing

If we talk, they will say it's hate. A 21st century looking like that. If those first generation universities still look this way after almost half a century, imagine if they were built now with today's standard.

The person that shot U.I picture is not serious at all

why will you shot just 10% of U.I and call it drone picture.. rubbish

Easy man, most of these shots aren't up to 10% of the schools. They won't fit in if everything is to be visible and if you really want everything shown, then you need satalite images not drone shots.

Based on the subtle competition via drone and aerial view pictures of different universities scattered all over the country, can we say the best universities -architecturally- are as follows:

1. Covenant University
2. University of Lagos
3. Obafemi Awolowo university
4. University of Ibadan
5. Ahmadu Bello university

Note: This is based on architectural ranking seen via drone pictures and not overall ranking.

Pictures submitted by each school were picked

Please what year was this and which hostel was this, because one of the so called New Hall hostels that I stayed at about 27 years ago was a nightmare? The toilets, bathroom and plumbing, in general, was a disgusting disaster not fit for human habitation! In fact, most people used to go and use the toilet and have their baths every single day in other hostels. Power supply was 24 hours then too though.....

No doubt OAU has better architectural designs but the reality most are dilapidated already. The maintenance of these buildings are nothing to write home about. If you take close pictures of these buildings you will be disappointed because even the paints are gone. That's is what gives Unilag and U.I the edge.

For example, No hostel In Unilag is this bad but yet this is one of the most popular boys hostel in oau.

Lol......the editing has distorted the pictures. No doubt OAU has some of the most beautiful architectural buildings but due to lack of maintenance, they are becoming shadows of themselves. Most haven't been painted for decades. Reason is why UI and UNILAG are far ahead.

Take for example no hostel in UNILAG or UI can ever be this bad and unkempt like these ones in the first two pictures. Now compare this to the worst hostel in unilag Enijoku from the last two pictures and see what i am talking about.

Modified: Heard most of the hostels have been renovated and are now habitable. A good one i must admit. I will appreciate if i can get pictures of the new look.

Don't stress. Look at the alumni association and your answer is right there. Almost all governors in the southwest are alumni of University of Lagos. Search for the best lawyers in Nigeria and it's University of Lagos. Nobel Prize for Literature, UI. Think about tech start ups and look it up. It's Unilag. Think entertainment it's Unilag.

Thing is, you wouldn't understand what goes on within the four walls of those schools until you mingle with them and see the rate of struggle to be better.

You're spilling facts bro!!!

What alumni association beats this??

Conducive environment is a reasonable yardstick for a standard university. Many of the schools around can't even have electricity and if they do, burglars might have carted every piece of electronics in the halls.

Don't let's be insensitive. I was in Unilag and I know many lecturers wouldn't even teach if power is interrupted. That's standard.

Lol.......our lecturer takes us with his laptop every single time using slides from the projector. He used it from beginning of the session to the end. If by any slim chance the faculty doesn't have power, no class. That happened just once and they restored it like 30 mins time.

I can categorically tell you that unilag has the best hostel based on the Nigerian standard in this country. My hostel back then has everything including a standby generator and DStv connection to every room. Power supply in unilag is 24hrs. You can't find a unilag student going for night class with a reading lamp.
