midolian: Agreement is not a way to move forward. Labour unions must find means to make governance more open. The unfortunate thing is that the civil society organizations no longer trust labour unions, so strike may not work well. Sadly too, if the fg and state govt agrees, will the labour unions fight for the private sector workers? 1 Like |

yesloaded: Instead of reducing fuel price, and open us to sibsidy fraud, let govt sign the petroleum bills and open the industry to competition. To provide stable electricity, govt should abandon national grid and let states and cities produce and distribute their own power. Every other thing will fall in place. |

SEGLIZ: Let's just say he is hoping to win, then he will find means to destroy any plans to hand speakership to south west. As it was in PDP, so it is in APC. The chance of the repetition of betrayals, unfairness and disloyalty not happening if Atiku wins is too low. |

Once upon a time, there was afenifere, now what we have is afenifejo. Too much unnecessary talks that make old men look like children. The absence of women participation in most of these groups including Ohanaeze and Arewa elders causes over production of testosterone ideas. Once upon a time, afenifere was never afraid of standing alone as long as they speak the truth to all concerned. Nowadays, it is unclear. They were once anti-obasanjo, and called him an enemy ( though he is more of a chameleon)but he is now a pal, the only good ideas they have today is to be anti-tinubu ( who is sort of a mob boss). They play non partisan politics poorly and play the partisan one badly. It is time to disband. 2 Likes |

Pesin no fit joke again. The VP waa making a joke and reno, ben bruce etc are taking it too seriously. PDP should calm down. They are likely to win as long as they don't play these noisy politics but stand on issues as they promised. Things like Buhari's certificate or Osinbajo's dance rehearsal don't carry weight. APC has begun showing their achievements and PDP has not successfully discredited them.is PDP still all noise and no substance? 4 Likes |

Quigley: I agree with you on the need for changes. The federal government has so much powers, it has become powerless in making things work in Nigeria. |
![]() |
Quigley: I was quite surprised when the board claimed to have sacked him. Government boards in Nigeria are meant to monitor and give reccomendations to either the hierarchy of the organisation or the executive arm of the government. The minister of health also overreached his power when he sacked him without the president's approval. Can the minister of interior sack the heads of any of the paramilitary organisations? I don't think so. Whether the NHIS boss is acting badly or not, the set rules ought to be followed. 1 Like |

Kennydoc: In many communities where Igbos live, they are so vital to the economy of those areas that without them, those people will find it difficult to cope. There is no local It is opinions like these that make it difficult for peope to trust supporting Igbos to a position they deserve as one of the three major tribes. it's not as if most Igbos care much about those positions anyway But most Igbos do and as earlier stated, as a major tribe, the igbos deserve a shot at the position, but it is never given. It is based on alliances, constant shaking of hands, a united tribal front and political friendliness.(something only the northerners have perfected). 1 Like |

All of these disturbing news will fade away and things are likely to settle. Most Igbos will support the PDP, APGA presidential candidates na for play play jare. If the governors sabotage Atiku/Obi, then they have proven to be the main problem of the southeast as many have always thought. Choosing Ekweremadu would have meant another loss for Atiku. His politics with Saraki makes him less appealing to younger Nigerians. But Obi on the other hand with his views and antecedents on running a lean government gives PDP a chance to more non-partisan votes in the southwest, which are deciding votes. |

Sociopolitical specimen : Fashola Principled, good record :. Appreciation Partisan lies, sticking with poor leadership: Depreciation It has recently been noticed thst specimen Fashola chose the latter, hence depreciation. Research concluded. However, Fashola might have kept one part of his known qualities, which is saying it as it is: if Buhari is reelected, power goes to the southwest, not to the southeast as he claims. The 5%excuse will come to play again. But Buhari won't win reelection, yet power will return to the southwest because the southeast might sabotage peter obi' s bid for presidency if Atiku decides to be the first President to keep to his word of one term only. Why will they sabotage peter obi? His antecedents show him as a man who does not do well as an igbo blother especially if given freedom to cut cost of governance? Anyway, time will prove the above hypothesis. |

If truly, PDP made this comments, then they should not try to use it as a strategy. It only fuels APC's chance to pass their own incompetence to PDP's bad image. There are many issues to stake as proof for APC's failures from economy to internal security. Nepotism and failed promises. Port harcourt terminal, commissioned railways and nigeria airways gratuity payments are APC successes that PDP shouldn't propagate by ridiculing it. It will backfire. PDP should come up with a clear, easy to understand manifesto that is specific and has few generalizations. 1 Like |

fratermathy: If you think the name is the big deal, then you might be looking at it from a smaller view. To many Nigerians, southeast and southsouth are the same. They are easily lumped together without respect or consideration for the many cultural differences between them. Unfortunately some people will use it to play unhealthy politics. 1 Like |

Mklanceee: Hmmmm...give to caesar what belongs to caesar and to God what belongs to God...you should know it is not about money or taxes alone. The church is divine is a common saying and well understood, but the chutch is human is a relatable fact since it operates o earth.Human Government will only start overstepping boundaries when it decides to tell the church what to preach or who should be its leader a la China and co. Every other thing including taxing churches (if decided upon) and stating certain requirements for leadership is part of what human government can regulate. 1 Like |

HigherEd: As sound as your point is about Paul or any apostle not having a theology degree, you may not judge modern way of doing things with the old. The moneylenders, bookkeepers, healers, and other specialized positions of that period did not get degrees but their equivalents today must get degrees or at least a diploma. Theology is not all about scriptural interpretation.it also deals with how to properly relate with life experiences and other systems of belief. Something so many pastors, called or uncalled, lack. Some pastors don't even know the history and socio political realities of the religion they follow. While I don't think a degree should be enforced, a diploma in theology should be a requirement to lead any religious organization. |

modaink333: We should weigh our words before writing them, especially when using Jonathan (a bad market) as comparison, it only diminishes the little hope of selling Atiku( a bad market) to the masses as solution to Buhari ( another bad market). |

Tospringe: He is intelligent and speaks like a politician. No one should blame him, PDP politicians are so confident since atiku's emergence they forgot how they messed up the country. Can you imagine? He made it seem Nigeria were merely tired and wanted to try something new. PDP lost because Jonathan's government performed poorly and the people protected their votes. Buhari will lose for the same reason. I really wish a third party can win but we are stuck between two demonic plagues called parties. Osita like keyamo, sowunmi, and others are demons claiming to be angels. 2 Likes |

olalat: Why are we talking about exports when we have not successfully dominated our own environment? |
![]() |
SarkinYarki: I suspect you might say that but ask yourself, have these companies been able to fully supply the Nigerian market? Can they compete with other countries where power and cost of production is lower than Nigeria? Are Igbos not members of MAN and the organised private sector who oppose AFCTA? I do not know if you played the tribalist card but your argument that the president's refusal is targeted at the southeastern manufacturing hub leans towards it. |
![]() |
My major fear about AFCTA is whether Nigeria is ready to compete effectively considering, poor power supply, and infrastructure. We live in a country where it is cheaper to import than produce goods. |

SarkinYarki: What are these exports that are regional based? 1 Like 1 Share |

Richdad50: The igbo society used to be individualistic society until Nigeria became an independent country, coups happened, war came, military bastardised everywhere, poverty ransacked the country and democracy became money based. Times have changed and no parts of Nigeria experience any real change. There are no true advancement anywhere. The idea of greatness for any region or tribe will only return when fiscal federalism takes root in Nigeria. The above write up was a colonial fact but a post colonial fallacy. It is good for making the igbo tribe feel proud but it is not the reality of 21st century Southeastern Nigeria. |

izzou: Adeshina would have been another good choice but Peter Obi is the best choice. He is a politician from the south east, technocrat and has a wonderful track record as a Governor. South West will vote for who the electorate feel will do well. The region is quite cosmopolitan with Presidential elections. Just one problem though, I hope the Igbo leaders manage their ego. History has proven that to be the hubris of the region despite her people being quite Pan Nigerian. Now is the time to bring people from all over Nigeria rather than gloat. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

genternity: 40%? How did you get that figure? We will get back to that. So, to the main meal of the day: I don't see any reason why a south easterner should not take the VP slot of the PDP. Osita Chidoka is qualified for the position but I prefer Peter Obi because of his stance of cutting cost of governance. I say a big No to NOI, wonderful woman who unfortunately doesn't talk true to power when it is needed most but I won't be surprised if a south westerner gets it. The westerners are reaching out to everybody on the issue with a tempting proposal of splitting the west for PDP (not necessarily true since the south west is usually multi directional about Presidential elections due to the cosmopolitan environment). SE deserves the VP slot but they need to reach out and lobby properly. It is politics. Back to the 40%... Do you work in INEC? It's amazing how you are able to pull up such figure. Wow! You are either an overvalued statistician or undervalued hyperbolist. Hit brake on the exaggeration! PLEASE! 40% ![]() ![]() ![]() 1 Like |

CyynthiaKiss: Because you must never get too comfortable with political agreements. Such agreements are feeble and can change under intense pressure by others. The SE needs to put pressure and not be taken for granted by PDP. 1 Like 1 Share |

oshe11: As beautiful as this may sound, transfering PVCs is not the solution to political relevance. The south easterners are the most Pan Nigerian people in all things except POLITICS. The average Igbo hustles for success in his commercial activity no matter where he is, but once it is politics, the hustle, struggle and politicking is put aside over a JUSTIFIABLE cry of marginalisation that can only be solved by politicking all over Nigeria. Something the Igbo leaders have unfortunately not done well in recent years. I see no reason why the South east should not get the VP slot in PDP but if it does not happen, it won't be because of numbers but lack of proper politicking. |
