earthrealm: I have a solar pump/borehole on my farm. The pump is a submersible which I bought from China and it hooks directly to the solar panel. The pump has it's own MPPT controller. It is a 1,000watts pump, hooked to 6x 300w panels. It pumps around 18,000 litres on a daily basis cos my guys put on the pump once the sun is up and it doesn't stop pumping until the sun is down. Total cost was around N650,000. I reckon if you need a smaller unit, you might be able to design one for around N550,000. You'll put it on for about 3-4 hours daily and you're good. 4 Likes |

kio052001: MPPT controllers are always a better fit except when cost is a significant deal breaker as they're more expensive. In simpler terms, there are no instances where PWM is better except you cannot afford MPPT. |

tonididdy: You'll need a MPPT CC for it to be effective. If you want to use PWM, you have to be certain it can accept a PV of up to 45volts which is the PV of the solar panel. |

earthrealm: Sorry for the mix up. By solar panel, I meant CC. So output from the CC is the DC Input on the Wattmeter. I've edited the post to reflect my thoughts correctly. Load is the battery, not the inverter. It is the battery that is drawing load from the panels, not the inverter. |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by laposta: 10:11am On Jan 02, 2020 |
earthrealm: I use a similar meter. The DC IN is your solar panel output from the Charge Controller. The load is your battery. So the bottom terminal (as placed in the diagram in your post) goes into both the positive of your battery and the positive of your terminal. The second hole goes into the negative side of your panel and one side of your shunt. The third hole goes into the same side of your shunt. Finally, the fourth hole goes to the other side of the shunt and the negative side of your battery. I hope this helps! |

If you're looking to buy small MPPT CCs...20A, 30A, etc. I'm your plug. Check it out on Jumia. Just go to Jumia homepage and paste the extension below at the end of the jumia web address. Quote this message if you have any issues locating it. 44708737.html |

Please don't do this. You will short out those batteries and you're at the risk of causing fire. On top, you have a series connection with one cable running from +ve of one battery to -ve of the other battery and then on the charging side, you're connecting in parallel, +ve to +ve, -ve to _ve. You're essentially connecting the two terminals on one battery together! Best bet is to match your charging and discharging voltage setup 12v/12v or 24v/24v. You can't do 12v/24v except you have a manual shut of so that the two cycles aren't operational at the same time which is very stressful to achieve. microgiant: |

Penuelseun: Nice concept...However, this would only work for a 12v battery system. It won't work for a 24v battery system as the output of most laptop chargers are less than 24v. |

We can talk this over Whatsapp. 0.9.0.6.9.9.8.1.9.3.6 I installed a 20,000 litre solar borehole for my farm in January. So far, so good! Except you're using the boreholes commercially, the cost of a solar borehole is prohibitive, I should add. ojtech8291: |

From my little experience, each pack in series puts out the total current draw and a fraction of the voltage. This means that the each 1s80p you have will put out 3.7v (nominal) and 60A (BMS capacity) and the 14s will put out 14x3.7v, 60A. Your small wires are still good though as each cell will put out 60A/80cells which is less than 1A. totalgreen01: |

Background info: When using PWM controllers, always connect your panels in parallel However, it is not advisable to use PWM controller for 300watts panel if you're bringing down to 12v. The VOC of a 300w panel is 45v (36volts when under load). The max. current output is around 6A. The 12v PWM controller will bring it down to 15v, 6A which is about 90watts and you'll lose the rest. I'll advise you buy a 30A MPPT controller, that way you can connect a max of three 300w solar panels in series and another four panels in parallel, making a total of 12 panels. I can help you facilitate a MPPT controller than won't break your pocket from China. 100% money back guarantee tchijioke: 1 Like |

Here is my two kobo... Do not power your freezer with your batteries. Even if you have a sizeable battery bank, you'll run down it's life because of the frequency of charge and discharge because a freezer is on nearly all the time. Buy a few more solar panels and run your freezer when the sun is up only. I'm guessing you'll be able to run your freezer between 8am and 3pm with the right size of panels and the panels will still be able to juice up your batteries. I have a deep freezer that consumes 200watts and I have 2x 200 watts panels. I reckon if I wanted to put my freezer on it, i'll need two extra 200 watts panels. The cost outlay will be much cheaper than buying a few more batteries. Alejobs: 2 Likes |

Intellab: For this price, it certainly is a Modified Sine Wave inverter. A pure sine wave inverter of similar model will be at least $150. |

zekepio: Your system is grossly inadequate for your water pump. 1.5hp = 1,120 watts. However, pumps are powered by motors and they need at least 2.5x the running current to start it. Hence, your minimum inverter capacity should be 2500watts pure sine wave. I would have said 3000watts but inverters have a temporary overload function, some as much as 2x the rate capacity. So a 2500watts inverter should be able to support up to 5000watts for a few seconds which is enough to start the pump. You will need solar panels of 1800watts minimum because your panels will hardly put out maximum power even during the hottest times of the day. You will need minimal size battery, say 200ah, to be like a temporary reservior for those times when the sun is hidden by the cloud and power output from your panels drop below 1200watts. Except you're using this pump for commercial purposes, I'll suggest you stick with using generator for it because the solar set up cost will be expensive! bizzibodi: For the inverter, it is the fuse that cuts when you reverse polarity. Open it up and look for the fuse, then check to see if it is burnt. If you can't identify it, snap the panel (front and back) and post here. I should be able to assist in identifying it. |

Hello, I have sent numerous messages to you on Whatsapp asking for an update on my package without response. My goods have been held up for more than four weeks now and your last excuse given was that Customs were on strike. Customs have since resumed clearing and I am yet to get a concise feedback on my goods. I have sent numerous messages to you on Whatsapp and you guys have stopped talking to me after promising that you will call me on Friday without fruition. I need this addressed ASAP before I cross my threshold of patience. Regards, Laposta |

CSNg: Boss, easy on your self. I have been using a souer MSW inverter for over two years and I've been powering my LCD television with it since then without any issues whatsoever. MSW inverters work well with most domestic appliances except Ox fans (and the likes). Your phone or lapotop chargers may also get hotter than usual but that is all that is. It won't damage the devices. My MSW inverter hasn't damaged anything since I've started using it... 1 Like |
