age? scars/bruises/patches? Just Treat with antibiotic & evaluate d following; do you overfeed(you can pollute your water even in a day) , do u let out all the water & allow your fishes rub or their body on bare surface/against themselves without water or is your pond having a cummulation of excessive slime that could trigger infection. it is not only number of days u change water that determines good water mgt

Thnks you Sir! Yes i let out all d water. They are 3wks old. Will avoid dt and see. And I dnt know if i overfeed but am very sure they leave any feed uneaten. But their belly looks bloated fter feedin. Will take corrections asap

[quote author=pumppie post=45340198] Hello sir, I think the confusion here is that we don’t seem to know exactly what u stocked. Post fries are different from fingerlings. If what u stocked are post fries, then u can feed in this order; 0.5mm -0.8mm, 0.8mm-1.2mm and finally 1.5mm. Hope this helps?[/quo

Yea, thanks but I will upload the picture for easy identification.

if they are actually fingerlings from when u brought them, buy now u can use 1.8mm skretting (durante) as chilamfarms suggested, but if u can't get that, use coppen 1.5mm. As regards changing feed sizes pls provide d house details such as number of fingerlings stored and also what u intend to harvest e.g table size or melange. Otherwise, u proceede in this order 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm. Nb: some feeds don't have 3mm and 8mm e.g skretting (sinking) for this type u can finish with 6mm. I hope this helps. Regards.

Pumppie/chilafarm, am grateful for your prompt response. Ok let me give a quick run down of the farm. I stocked 750 post fries per say though the farmer sold them to me as fingerlings cos they weighed 1.2g and less at the initially time of stocking. I want to raise to table size. Am giving 0.5mm coppens for now.

Hello sir, welcome to d house. About your 700 fingerling, ur tank is too small to raise that amount of catfish. The maximum u can rear to table size on 1200 litres tank is 100. To rear 500 fish to table size, u need a 12*12*4 pond. For new farmers like u I will even advice u put just stock 300 pieces on a 12*12*4 feet pond to avoid loss. Pls try and invest little and and increase ur stock as time goes on. Fish farming is not a child's play cos u need serious cash and experience to be successful in it. Fish farming is another school entirely, so try and start from d cradle(start from kindergarten and primary school) before talking of profit. If u can recover all ur recurrent expenses after selling ur fish, it simply means u will be successful in it on your next batch of stocking. Please try and visit a well established farm and learn from them and make sure u pay the owner so that the seriousness will be there. Just my 2 cents

Thanks a lot dear, i appreciate your advice and encouragement.

Hello everyone, am a newbie in fish farming and i have learnt a lot from this thread. A very big thnks to all the selfless coaches in the house. may God reward you for all that you are doing here. (1) I stocked 700 fingerlings recently and they are doing well. Please how do i know the runts among them? (2) I am using white plastic tank of 1200 litres for now, how many of it can contain the 700 fingerlings to table size stage?
