Foreign Affairs / British PM Triggers Process For Snap Election (Can It Ever Happen In Nigeria) by leeman009: 12:33pm On Apr 18, 2017
British Prime Minister Theresa May has stunned the UK political world by calling for an early general election, seeking a stronger mandate in talks over leaving the European Union.
In an unexpected statement at Downing Street, May said she was seeking a vote on June 8, less than halfway through the government's five-year term.
May, who commands only a slim majority in parliament's lower House of Commons, said that a new mandate would strengthen her hand in negotiations in Brexit talks. Her decision is a reversal of policy -- a month ago, her spokesman said there would not be an early election.
A general election would end the attempts of opposition parties and members of the House of Lords to thwart her Brexit plans, she said. "If we do not hold a general election now, their political game playing will continue," she said.
"There should be unity here in Westminster, but instead there is division. The country is coming together, but Westminster is not," she added. "We need a general election and we need one now."
Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May announces she will seek an early election.
May said she would move a motion on Wednesday in the in the House of Commons calling for a vote on June 8.
Under legislation introduced by her predecessor, David Cameron, an early election requires the support of two-thirds of MPs in the House of Commons.
She called on voters to throw their support behind her Conservative Party, adding that "every vote for the Conservatives will make me stronger" in Brexit talks.
The Conservative Party only has a slim majority in the House of Commons, holding 330 of the 650 seats.
May is expected to win an increased number of seats -- opinion polls show the opposition Labour Party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, at record low levels.
Opposition welcomes vote
May came to power last July in the wake of the British vote to leave the EU, which led to Cameron's resignation. She has repeatedly said that the decision cannot be reversed, and has pursued a hard line on those who have argued for a phased withdrawal or a loose, continued association with the EU.
But Brexit has diviced in the House across party lines, and MPs from marginal parties continue to show opposition to the withdrawal. There are also divisions within her own party over Brexit strategies.

Programming / Re: IP Addresses And Routing Table by leeman009: 9:13am On May 31, 2016
Fulaman198:
a /24 network means you have a maximum of 254 hosts with 1 network address and 1 broadcast address. So for Network A 10.10.10.0/24, the host range would be 10.10.10.1 - 10.10.10.254, the broadcast address would be 10.10.10.255 and the network address would be 10.10.10.0. The same thing is also applied to Network B: 11.11.11.0/24. The host range would be 11.11.11.1 - 11.11.11.254 and the broadcast address would be 11.11.11.255 with the network address being 11.11.11.0.

Router interfaces typically are the first IP address in the host range (default gateway) but honestly can be set to anything in your host range. If were designing this WAN, I would set the router's IP address to 10.10.10.1 for Network A and the Router for Network B to 11.11.11.1.

For a network to support 6 interfaces, can you please be more specific? Do you mean 6 hosts? or 6 router interfaces per router.

A routing table for router A can be seen in many ways depending on your router. If it is a cisco router, type ip route at the command line. How do you plan on configuring the routers to talk to one another? What routing protocol(s) will you use. Remember Directly connected routes have highest priority followed by static IP routes, then I believe EIGRP with an admin distance of 90 and OSPF with an admin distance of 110. Thus EIGRP takes precedence over OSPF. Let me know if you need more details thanks.
Thank you very much for the help, I still need some additional clarification in regards to question 2 and 4.
Please can you help me with your number so I can ring you tonight.

FincoApps:

Some of these questions require calculations that I'm not ready to do, at least not on Nairaland. But you are dealing with class C addresses.... which means the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0.

Also, the default gateway is always the address of that router....

Please if you don't mind! can I have your contact number, I dont mind ringing you so you can guide me through.
Thanks

Im starting to delve deeper into networking and trying to find a good forum for such a topic to get help and guidance, Please I need further quidance from the experts on the following questions.

An internetwork consisting of four networks interconnected by routers.
Network A has address 10.10.10.0/24 and Network B 11.11.11.0/24. Network C and D are subnets of 12.12.12.0/24 that are
each capable of supporting a maximum of six interfaces.
Network A and Network D each have one host attached, Host A and Host D respectively
(not shown).

1)What is the suitable IP addresses for Host A, R1’s interfaces and R2’s
interface on Network B.
2)What is the suitable network addresses for Network C and Network D.
3)What is the a suitable IP address, default gateway and network mask for Host D
4)What is the routing table for R1 showing the entries required to reach a host on any of the attached networks (R1 is not permitted to have a default gateway)
[note: the table should show destination, mask and next hop for each entry. Assign any additional IP addresses required].
5)Explain the routing decisions that enable a ping and its response to be sent between Host A and Host D

Ask your self these questions.
1.do u love him enough to wait for 6 years..
2.is he worth waiting for 6 years?
3. How much does he love you? Do u think he'll still love u in the next 6 years
4. If the tables were turned, will he wait?

If you answer any of them in the negative, then I don't think u should keep the relationship

A friend of mine needs advice, he has being with his wife for over 8 years and they have 2 kids together.
but about 2 years ago he caught her cheating (from her messages to the next man) when he confronted her she denial it, not knowing he has evidence to back up his claim.
As soon as she realised she has been caught out, she called off the relationship with her husband. He tried to give her a second chance but she wont accept it.
She moved out of the house and in less than 2 days he caught her with a different man again, few days later in the process of them trying to rebuild their marriage, he had sex with her.
Few days after having sex with the wife, he caught her in a hotel with the same man.
Since then she has been crying and begging that she has realised her mistake and she want him back.
it's been over 2 years since the whole incident happened and he doesnt have any new evidence of her cheating.
Please note she moved back in with him after 6 months or so from them being apart(when she moved out but they still kept seeing each other) the question now is my friend is confused wether to commit himself into the marriage or get a divorce since they have kids together.
Celebrities / Cisse Leaves Girlfriend For Holiday To Marry Senegalese Volleyball Player by leeman009: 12:29pm On Jun 04, 2015
A game of two (other) halves! Newcastle footballer Papiss Cisse leaves girlfriend for holiday... and three days later marries Senegalese volleyball player fiancée in Paris

Rachelle Graham says she kissed and waved star off on holiday last week
But he failed to return her texts she went online and found wedding photos
Beauty queen believed they had a future but he wed Diallo Awa in Paris
She said: 'I'm disgusted to learn he got married without me knowing

Newcastle footballer Papiss Cisse has left his on-off girlfriend heartbroken after telling her he was going on holiday only to marry a volleyball player three days later, Rachelle Graham, 24, a beauty queen and former Miss Newcastle, says last week she kissed and waved off the Senegalese striker, 30, believing he was off to spend a month in his homeland.

But after he failed to return her texts she became worried and went online, finding a picture of her love's wedding to sportswoman Diallo Awa, 29, at a yacht club outside Paris.

More photos of the smiling couple's wedding in Paris have since surfaced, with friends saying they suspect his religion and family prevented the two from having a future together.

They had broken up last year after trolls abused them because it was a mixed race relationship - but recently they had started seeing each other more regularly again.

She even did a charity skydive to raise money for a community ambulance in the striker's native Senegal.

Miss Graham told The Sun: 'I'm hurt and disgusted to learn Papiss has got married without me knowing after we spent so much time together recently.

But it's his life and if this is what he has chosen to do there is nothing much I can do about it. I just wish he had the decency to tell me first.'

Miss Graham received horrific abuse after news of her relationship with Cisse became public in 2013 and it was reported to police.

Trolls from around the world criticised her for being with a black man and a bogus Twitter account was set up in Miss Graham's name.

Miss Graham said at the time: 'At first the messages came from a US website which targets white people who are going out with black people.

'The person behind that may also have set up the fake Twitter account in my name.

'I am totally sickened by it. I cannot believe someone that would do this.'
Happy couple: Cisse married the sportswoman at a yacht club in Paris and are believed to be in Senegal

Fan: The model, pictured at St James Park with friends last week, is also a huge Newcastle United fan and believed she would have a future with the club's star striker Cisse's new wife is a Senegalese volleyball star and model who represents her national team and Stade Francais in Paris, where she lives.

She walked down the aisle in a long white dress while the footballer, who earns £40,000-a-week, wore a navy suit.
After the ceremony there was a lavish reception with cordon bleu catering and three cakes.
But the footballer would not have been drinking because he is a a strict Muslim who prays five times a day. Their families, members of his new wife's volleyball team and dignitaries from Senegal also flew to France for the wedding last week.

In trouble: In the run up to the wedding Cisse was banned after spitting at Manchester United defender Jonny Evans
Papiss Cisse would have had plenty of time to plan the wedding because in March he was banned for seven games for his part in the spitting storm that also involved Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

He was fined a week's wages of around £40,000 by Newcastle, and was banned until May.

In 2013 Cisse, who is one of a number of Muslim players at Newcastle, had refused to wear the club's shirt because it was sponsored by Wonga, as it conflicts with his religious beliefs. Under Sharia law, Muslims must not benefit from either lending money or receiving money from another person - meaning that interest is prohibited. Interest is not paid on Islamic bank accounts or added to mortgages.

But later an image emerged on Twitter that claims to show the Senegalese forward gambling in a casino. Eventually he agreed to wear the shirt.

Religion / Jeoy Barton: If I Were Prime Minister I Would Privatise Religion by leeman009: 12:44am On Feb 25, 2015
Barton says if he were the Prime Minister he would privatise religion and withdraw all public money from religion. © Rex Barton says if he were the Prime Minister he would privatise religion and withdraw all public money from religion.

If I were Prime Minister I would privatise religion. All public money would be withdrawn from religion. Taxpayers money will cease to sponsor religion in any and every form.

I would dis-establish the Church of England. There should not be an official state religion. Church of England bishops will lose their right to hold unelected positions in our House of Lords. I would cease to subsidise the livelihoods of Church of England bishops and priests.

Land and buildings which were given to the Church will be returned to state. If the Church of England want to continue to use their land and churches then they must pay commercial rent to the Government for the privilege of using what will revert back to state property.

The Church of England should earn their keep in the religious marketplace. If a particular church can attract enough paying Christians to fund the running costs of their church, the salary for their priest and land rent to the state, then it can survive. If a church can't be economically self-sufficient on these terms then the land and church building should be returned to the state. The state can then use the valuable land to build houses, a school or a hospital instead.

All tax payer funding for faith-based state schools will also cease. If parents want to teach their children in their own homes then they are free to do so. However, what they tell their children in the privacy of their own home will not be backed up by taxpayer funded faith schools. It is not the state's business to subsidise the training of a child for one religion.

My government would promote a spirit of tolerance and mutual understanding by standing neutral on the issue of religion. The ghettoisation of religious teaching in state schools, and the ghettoisation of religious communities which one-sided and narrow religious teaching promotes, will end.

All tax payer funded schools should be pluralist in the approach to religious education. Children should be told about the major world religions, minority religions and cults. Children should be told about the different kinds of Gods that humans have worshipped throughout history and in all corners of the earth. Children should also be told about those who think life is best lived in accordance with godless, secular and humanist values.

If I was Prime Minister children (and then broadly educated adults) will be free to make up their own mind about religion based on the most comprehensive religious education possible.

The state should neither be for or against religion. People will continue to be free to indulge in religion in their own time and with their own money. However, religious people should cease to expect taxpayers to subsidise their particular religious thinking and life styles. We shouldn't waste public money on religion when we can better serve the common good by spending money saved on social housing, the NHS and a pluralist education.

he's a fool. Why doesn't he start with talking about obscene salaries that footballers earn and the fact that these are paid by hard working people. Doesn't mind taking money when it suits him. His argument is too flawed until he attacks every sponsored cause in society not just one that suits him.
He also wants to get his facts right about who pays what and who in the church and it's not tax payers. Unlike his ridiculous salary.
maybe he needs to learn how other churches survive without state funding.
Religion / Nigeria: 'girl Bomber' Kills 19 People In Maiduguri Market by leeman009: 2:18am On Jan 11, 2015
At least 19 people have been killed and several injured by a bomb strapped to a girl reported to be aged about 10 in north-eastern Nigeria, police say.

The bomb exploded in a market in the city of Maiduguri, in Borno state.

"The explosive devices were wrapped around her body," a police source told Reuters.

No group has said it carried out the attack. The market is reported to have been targeted twice in a week by female bombers late last year.

Correspondents say that all the signs point to the militant Islamist Boko Haram group.

They have been fighting to establish an Islamic caliphate in the north-eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, which have borne the worst violence in their five year insurgency.
Nigerian soldiers stand guard at the offices of the state-run Nigerian Television Authority in Maiduguri (June 2013) The Nigerian military often finds itself on the defensive in the town of Maiduguri, which is frequently the target of Boko Haram attacks

Borno State police spokesman Gideon Jubrin said that the girl bomber let off an improvised explosive device near the area of the Maiduguri market where chickens were sold.

The BBC's Abdulahi Kaura in Lagos says that this will not be the first suicide bombing involving young girls, part of a new militant strategy intended to capitalise on the fact that people in the Muslim-dominated north are less suspicious of women.

In other violence reported on Saturday a vehicle in Yobe state exploded at a checkpoint near a police station, killing at least two people.

The blast follows heavy fighting in the Yobe state capital Damaturu on Friday night, with buildings destroyed and civilian casualties reported.
The ruins of burnt out houses stand in Baga town in Nigeria (April 2013) The town of Baga has also been regularly attacked by militants

Hundreds of people were killed on Wednesday in an assault by Boko Haram on the town of Baga, following on their seizure of a key military base there on 3 January,

Scores of bodies from that attack - described by Amnesty International as possibly the "deadliest massacre" in the history of Boko Haram - are reported to remain strewn in the bush.

District head Baba Abba Hassan said most victims in the Baga attack were children, women or elderly people who were not able to escape when insurgents forced their way into the town by firing rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles.

Boko Haram has taken control of many towns and villages in north-eastern Nigeria over the past year.

The conflict has displaced at least 1.5 million people, while more than 2,000 were killed last year.

Over the last 25 years, Nigeria has been recognised as a failed state, Leaders aren’t accountable, law enforcement agencies brutalising innocence citizens, lecturers can’t teach properly unless they are bribed or buy hand outs, no health and safety law to safeguard worker and students, landlords have no regards for tenants, our judiciary system is none existence, no credible election, election is round the corner. The so called political criminals will ask you to participate in the upcoming election and they won’t fulfil their promise when elected

All the politicians starting from the local government Councillors to President of the country are all political robbers, even though we all praise Fashola for the transformation in Lagos state, but I think Fashola is as guilty as the rest of the political criminals. Maybe you guy’s probably need to step out of the country before you understand what’s the duties of a government.
In the country where we have a high numbers of unemployment, one who think a lot of the qualify graduates should be employ into the local government councils, law enforcement agencies and ministry of education, the so called corrupt politicians, lecturers, INEC officials and law enforcement officers attend various churches and mosques regularly and still the religious leader can’t advise them to turn to new leaf.

My questions are:
1. Where’s all the foreign aid our government get from UK and USA every year?
2. Why would wont any present government prosecute all the past and present corrupt leaders and present
3. Most be always recycle all the politicians
4. Is they any need for we having a government at all? this country hasn’t offer majority of the citizens anything and may probably not offer us anything throughout our life term
5. Why can’t they reshuffle all the enforcement agencies and employ the right people with right attitude?

I can carry on writing from today till Jesus comes, but one thing is certain no change will occur until we stand up fight and eliminate all the corrupt eggs in our society.

We don’t need no Buhari or Jonathan, we need to rebuild the nation with a new set of people, all the entire politicians are corrupt “they’ve all tasted blood and they will always ask for more”

So how to stop corruption and prevent it:

1.Give better salary in govt jobs: Many employees in government positions receive low salary like clerks, office staff etc. Hence they expect to make money by bribery. For this they try to delay the work for so long that the client is fed up and opts for bribery for progress in the work.
2. Increase the number of workers: In many offices of the government sector, the work load has gone up drastically but the recruitment of vacancies has declined This gives an option for delaying the work by officials and expect monetary or other benefits for faster completion.
3. Set up watchdog groups and special investigations. Use external and politically independent commissions to investigate corruption. Because they are not part of the department, hopefully they will be unbiased and not influenced by corruption in the dept. The problem is the member of the commission are police officer.
4. The courts could act as a greater mechanism of police accountability. Officers who violate the law may be subject to criminal prosecution. OF course, his only deals with individual corrupt officers, not the problems in the dept that led to the corruption.
5. Law to dismiss from service if found to be involved in corruption. This seems a better option. For instance if you see cases where anti-corruption bureau rides an officers home and finds disproportionate assets, the officer is suspended from employment and taken for judicial trials. But after couple of years you will find them in employment at same or even better positions. So this creates no fear among the officials against corruption.
6. Camera in all govt offices, law emforcement agencies vans and stations: In every ATM there are camera to keep a watch on the public taking their money. Then why not government offices, stations, have cameras to have a watch on the employ performance. Even there are many employ’s who openly take bribe in presence of common men. This public bribery is due to confidence that public wants their work more than the amount they are paying to them as bribes.
7. Make Media responsible and fix laws to be so: There are many major scams and corruption events involving media. Though the media is well aware of the corruption happening they stay silent due to their support for some political parties or else their owners get some monetary benefits from the rulers. Even there are many reporters who though come across some scam or corruption, they stay silent without revealing it for press for having received monetary benefits to do so. If media personnel are found to be guilty for not having exposed the scam or corruption intentionally, they have to be prosecuted and their licence be withdrawn.
8. Verify the selection procedures: Many people compete for government jobs and in the process there are corruption happening in the selection of candidates for the posts. So let the selection criteria and procedure used be transparent and any misconduct from this should be punishable.
9. Keep inflation low: This is another factor for keeping corruption high and also persistent. Due to rise in prices, any amount of income seems to be insufficient. This inflation is a corruption involving politicians and businessmen. Businessmen try to rise the prices to sell their inventory or stock of goods at higher price. For this the politicians support them and are paid monetary or other benefits. This is a cheap business tactic but even the so called richest business magnets play this corruption gam
10. Speed up the judgment and increase the courts: Many cases of corruption take years to be given verdict. This delay in cases creates lack of fear for being corrupt and also huge time span for court trials gives sufficient time to make alterations in the witness.

I know you lot will say Buhari is the messiah, For someone to surround himself with people like people Oyinlola, Tinubu, Atiku and Akande etc, this are well known criminals with a track record.
These folks shouldn’t be taken seriously, they are only into polities for their personal gain and nothing else, PDP = APC While APC = PDP
I called this method a finite loop, I think Nigerians are just too thick to understand what good government is all about, in conclusion the problem with Nigeria is easy and simple, we all need to sacrifice everything to make this country a better place for us and our unborn kids to live in.
God bless Nigeria, God bless you all.
