President Muhammadu Buhari and Akinwunmi Ambode have disagreed on what the president came to do at Eko Atlantic City.
The Presidency and the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, have disagreed over what President Muhammadu Buhari went to do at the Eko Atlantic City during his two-day working visit to the state.
Governor Ambode said in his official Twitter handle that the President went there to inaugurate the project.
The tweet read, “We took a tour of the Eko Atlantic City with Mr. President as he officially commissioned (sic) the project. Eko Atlantic is a good example of what Public and Private Partnership can do to the Nigerian economy.”
However, Twitter went wild with many users pointing out that it was former President Goodluck Jonathan who in company with the then Governor, Babatunde Fashola, and former United States President, Bill Clinton, that inaugurated the project in 2013.
The pictures of Jonathan inaugurating the project were also shared multiple times on the micro-blogging site.
In his response on Twitter, however, Buhari disagreed with Ambode, insisting that he only went to inspect the project. Using the handle, @NGRPresident, he said:-
“The President did not commission (sic) or launch Eko Atlantic City. His visit was a tour as part of a two-day official visit to Lagos State and the plaque he unveiled was to commemorate his visit to the site.”

Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, who reacted to report of Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, flouting the directive of President Buhari to relocate to Benue state after the January 1st massacre, said contrary to reports, the IGP got no query.
Nigeria police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, in an interview with This Day yesterday, claimed that those speculating that the IGP had been queried by President Buhari, were just trying to cause disharmony and disaffection with the intention to distort facts, as he further challenged anyone with a copy of the query to present it.

While speaking at his country home at Igbere, Abia state, after a meeting of All progressive Congress (APC) representatives, former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, said the President Buhari’s administration is doing a lot to see that activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen become history. According to Daily Sun, the influential politician who said late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had wanted to address the issue of Boko Haram but could not, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to give a realistic strategy on how the insurgency problem would be solved. He explained that when he was Abia governor, the state was not safe and that he brought a strategy, sat down with Abia people, the Nigeria Police, the community and everybody and they fought and stopped armed robbers who terrorised the state. They ran away and the state became a safe place to stay, he said.

Dice Ailes scored an instant hit with his 2017 banger ‘Otedola’ which seems like an ode to the Nigerian billionaire. Certain folks are of the opinion that the Chocolate City artiste did the song to gain financial favours from the business magnate, Femi Otedola.
In a recent chat with Sunday Scoop Dice Ailes maintains that he was just having fun while making the song.
“Whatever you do, people will always have their reservations and opinions, but I didn’t do the song to get money from Otedola or to get close to his family. I was just having fun. Surprisingly, upon releasing the song, I got to meet Otedola and he gave me a lot of money. I am also close to the family members and I call him on the telephone whenever I like. I didn’t plan for all these as some people have said.”
He also explained what inspired the whole idea of the hit song.
“Like I said earlier, I wasn’t paid to sing about Otedola. In the song, I was calling many names. I was just looking for iconic names that would bring out the best in the song. Since I was talking about money and Otedola is a billionaire, I felt I should use his name. Honestly, anything could have been the title of the song, but I settled for Otedola because it was one of the first names I mentioned while singing.”
Chief Magistrate N. A. J. Ogunbona of the Ibadan Magistrate’s Court, Iyaganku- Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Monday, berated rapists in the country. She made the condemnation while ruling in a defilement case brought before her against a 52-year-old man, Mr. Gabriel Olaniyan. Olaniyan was accused of raping a nine-year-old girl.
Arraigned on a one-count charge of having carnal knowledge of the minor, he told the court how he lured the girl into a secluded place with N10 biscuit before raping her.
He, however, denied that he committed the act for ritual purpose.
In the charge sheet signed by Fawole Funke, the accused was alleged to have defined the girl on March 1 at Alapafon Area of Ibadan.
The charge sheet reads: “You, Gabriel Olaniyan, male, on the March 1, at about 5p.m., at Alapafon area, Ibadan, in the Ibadan magisterial district, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl (name withheld) aged nine, without her consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.” The Chief Magistrate advised parents to always monitor their children to prevent them from being molested.
After ordering that the accused be remanded in Agodi Prison pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, she adjourned the case till April 5.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said the desire of the Federal Government was to have the schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram sect from Chibok and Dapchi back alive.
He said that was why his administration chose negotiation, rather than military option, to secure their release.
Adesina quoted the President as saying that Nigeria was working in concert with international organisations and negotiators, to ensure that the girls were released unharmed by their captors.According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while receiving the United States Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. “We are trying to be careful. It is better to get our daughters back alive,” the President said.
Buhari thanked the US for the assistance rendered in the fight against insurgency, noting that “Nigerian forces are good but need assistance in the areas of training and equipment.”
The President promised that his administration would continue to do its best to secure the country, adding that he would be in Yobe State, from where the Dapchi schoolgirls were abducted, later this week “as part of my condolence and sympathy visits to areas where we have had unfortunate events.”
He pledged free and fair polls in 2019, recalling that the then American Secretary of State, John Kerry, had visited before the 2015 polls, “and he told the party in government then, and those of us in opposition, to behave ourselves, and we did.” The visiting Secretary of State commended Buhari for his strides in the anti-corruption war, to which the Nigerian leader responded that money recovered was being invested in development of infrastructure.
Tillerson said Nigeria was a very important country to the U.S, stressing that “You have our support in your challenges. We will also support opportunities to expand the economy, commercial investments, and peaceful polls in 2019.”
Meanwhile, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Alhassan, has said the Federal Government is committed to the protection of rights of vulnerable persons, particularly women and children, in line with international laws.
