There is no need to panic. We are currently experiencing a shortfall in power supply due to repair works going on at the Afam VI power station. Everything will return to normal when it has been fixed, possibly before the week runs out.

lovat: We did meeting in my area and we ve resolved that we will not pay bill until we start experiencing 10hrs at least of power supply. The police station in my area is also a signatory to it.

Excellent! Please keep us updated on the outcome of the action.
Wish we could do the same in my area

Maybe you should re verify your old bible for those chapters. If there is, then my dates are incorrect but you'll agree with me that new bible chapters suddenly appears on the bible within 1950-1980.

You must be a self spirited person to be able to figure out the religious games on your own coming from a Christian family.

Oh yeah! I am immersed in it. It has ruined many in my family. Anytime we have a problem in the family, everyone else contributes prayers, and at the end, I have to come up with the money!

John - 1980

1 John - 1980
2 John - 1980
3 John - 1980
Jude - 1960
Revelations - 1980
So within 1950 - 1980 lost manuscripts suddenly started falling from the sky into the hands of religious leaders to form the new testament. grin
Christians are very gullible people.[/size][/b]

Old boy, I am from a Xtian family and I dont think you're quite right on the 1980 additions. I am sure I read from John and Revelations(Mkpughe) growing up in the 70s.

What amazes me is how adherents of a particular religion never bother to wonder about other religions, and the fate of billions of humans who dont share their beliefs. It was this very concern that set me seeking to really find out what was going on. I think most people are just lazy in their minds and lack courage to face the realities of life, so they resort to some kind supernatural Being to pilot their affairs for them. But why they keep at it for donkey years without seeing any concrete verifyable result is what beats me.
Religion / Re: Is Jesus Relevant In Our Day? by LeSaint(m): 11:53pm On Nov 11, 2013
trolling: He won't be relevant when the Beast is set up, cuz all nations and kindred must and will worship this beast, You can read about Albert Pike who talks about abolishing all religions, Daniel also said he shall not regard the gods of his fathers, it gonna be man worship or you die, this is part of the Great Tribulation

@Trolling. It's not so hard to imagine how this Beast thing can come about in the not-so-distant future, because religion as a whole is becoming a curse on humanity, militating against peaceful co-existence. One day, a clear-headed and courageous leader would arise and say enough of this insanity already! Religion should become a strictly private and personal thing. No public display or worship of any unseen entities, or of anything other than patriotism, diligence, honesty, and hospitality toward your neighbor, for the mere reasons that that's the only way to co-exist peacefully and progress and protect our planet.
To the soggy-headed religious adherents, that leader would become the long-predicted "BEAST"!!!

Human rights lawyers have often complained about the practice of parading suspects before the media. They say that a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. What if he is eventually acquitted by the court?

So, policemen and the media now take measures to obscure the identities of suspects.

That's nonesense! In America, the capital of democracy, they publish the picture of suspects who are still at large even. Not to talk of the one that has been caught AFTER A SHOOTOUT with Police.
We just do things upside down in this country. If they hadnt released the pictures of the Marathon bombers, would they have got them easily?

The question is did she do all that following laid down rules for transparency, honesty and accountability? Any one can mobilize to spend free money at their disposal. The underlying motive, and the integrity are the issues here.
It is well known that no due process was followed in any of those projects, they were 200% t0 300% over-inflated, and the contractors were hand picked by the Minister herself. That sort of public officer does more harm than good, no matter what propagander you mobilize for them. The people of Nigeria in general, and the the industry in particular are the worse off for it. Also, aviation professionals will tell you that most of those projects were cosmetic in nature, i.e., little real CAPACITY enhancement in content. For example, the airspace ids still full of inadequacies that have endurd over the years. Virtually all the recent Ministers of Aviation have followed the same trend - home-in on cosmetic, physically visible programs, and use the to siphon huge amounts of money into thier pockets. Mr. Borishade's Safe Tower project is one of such. Experts say it is more of "Fancy Tower" than "Safe Tower". But it cost over 50 million Euro!

I am having a disturbing experience with my data sub on MTN. I am a post-paid customer and I got the 3gig night sub on, with over 2gig left.

I settled my Oct bill 2 days ago, and all of a sudden, I am already over N2,700 in debit for Nov. I couldnt have made N2,700 calls in 2 days! So, I suspect I am being charged for data So how does it work when one has active night time sub, and some mobile apps on the phone activate and use data in the daytime? Or, even I forgot am on night and browse in the daytime - I think I might have done that yesterday. But N2000 plus?!!

Please answer this - it's very important for me. Why should data usage occur outide the sub (night) hour? And if it does why no warning

This service is crappy. It took me many trials to even sign in, over the months.
Today I just decided to try again, and it appeared as if I signed in because I could see "Logout" at the top corner, but the main page is filled up with programmer gabbage.
On the left some menus; I tried to View Call Details, 1st Nov - 4th Nov, and after ages, it came back with "No records found"!!
No other action yielded any result.

Honestly, l cant understand our Igbo brothers anymore! angry angry

Why do they always think anyone who criticizes any wrongdoing done by an Igbo person, is out to ruin them and does so out of hatred for Igbos?
Personally, l have looked myself in the mirror and asked "Do l hate Igbos, as a race"?
The answer is NO! And l can afford to tell myself the truth, in my own closet, at least no one has any knowledge or power over that.

Alright, it is okay for you to "hate Yorubas" but do you also hate yourself this much .... or how do you describe someone who will "cut of his own "Igbo-Nose", just to spite his "Yoruba-face"?

How can any sensible person say that 250Million stolen wealth of this country, is "small money"?
Even Dangotte will not smile at you if you steal just 10Million of his money, despite his wealth yet those saying this money is "chicken change" are people who can barely arrange 10Million Naira in their "home and abroad"! shocked shocked
Who puts a #150 Million Naira Bullet Proof Car in the "Pool", for everyone's use?

Why must every issues be viewed through "ethnic and tribal lenses"?
What joy does it give our Igbo brothers to defend brazen corruption, just because the thief is Igbo? ... or because one Yoruba man thief stole double that?
Where is the sense of reasoning and Logic in that argument? Have you guys No shame at all?

How did this story turn to a "Yoruba Vs. Igbo"? One of the principal actors i this saga was/is a childhood friend of mine as we attended the same Primary school in Lagos and we actually grew up in adjacent streets!, .... But he is NOT Yoruba, and it does not change my opinion or friendship with him.

How one earth can anyone with their senses intact, defend these rubbish or tell us their own I.Q is so low they cant even figure out what happened, despite all the glaring evidence and testimonies from Stella Oduah herself, and all the principal characters involved who had given evidence?
Which other court are you waiting for and are you guys so daft and moronic? I know you are not but it is just that your thinking got suddenly
get so messed-up once "tribalism" takes over.

Same goes for some of our Yoruba folks who will defend Tinubu till death, despite evidence of his criminality.
But honestly, it is senseless behaviour and those involved in these acts are a disgrace to their family name and unborn generations.

We must all come together to condemn brazen stealing of our national wealth by some Politician and their cronies who dont give a hoot about us.

How much is the filthy #4,000 they are sharing for you (or even if you are just doing it for Tribalism's sake only), from the Billions they steal?
The stealing that is denying your generation the quality of life you are supposed to be living .... or dont you realize you have only ONE LIFE to live and "generator fumes" alone, (caused by the thievery in the power sector, championed by no less than OBJ and his cronies) has reduced the life expectancy of Nigerians by at least 20-years and the sudden increase in the prevalence of cancer in the last few years in traceable to the same Generator fumes which would have been avoided if we all come together and "flog the shyte" out of these thieves (our Brothers!)?

These thieves have NO RESPECT for you and me (even if you defend them till tomorrow or take crumbs from their table).
You need to hear them when they talk about the same foolish "common man" who is here ranting and raving in their defense!

Please guys, you are doing your own generation and children a BAD FAVOR, by supporting a thief, from any tribe.
You are also destroying your own very life (maybe its not that valuable to you sha, that is what poverty causes in a humanbeing).

Let us come together and hang to dry, every thief, whether Yoruba, hausa or Igbo, a thief is a thief.
otherwise, we are on a very 'long thing'.
Somalia is a very good example o! wink
Ten years ago, if anyone told you that "bombs" will be killing Nigerians like chickens, l bet you will hiss and say "gerrout" to that person, but today, it is the reality.
If l tell you TODAY that if we dont change our attitude of supporting EVIL, based on TRIBALISM, Somalia or Yemen will be a child's play compared to what we will become in ten years from now.

Running abroad is also not becoming an option anymore, go and see how Africans/Nigerians die like flies, trying to reach Europe!

Read it here: http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/92-migrants-die-in-sahara-desert-after-failed-crossing
The white people are gradually getting fed-up of a Black man that acts like he is sub-human in thinking and reasoning.
They are ring-fencing themselves inside.
Me, am inside already so nothing to worry about but l still feel for the hundred and sixty million who are "outside" suffering and yet still defend that which causes their suffering! TRIBALISM AND CORRUPTION!

I don talk my own o.

@Lastpage, I come at you again!
You spoke well, except that you over-generalized. As and Ibo person I hope to God that the people who are blinded by such primordial sentiments like kinship or party affiliation in this matter, and indeed in other national debates are in the minority. Otherwise, it is doom alone that awaits!

lastpage: By the way, l dont know how "old" these people arguing about that phrase "do the needful" ..are or whether they have worked in any corporate environment before or whether they are just the usual "ASUU fall-out" that dont know their left from their right?.

I have written as a "subordinate", read and in later years of "senior management", APPROVED thousands of "Memos", so l know exactly what it means and what the intention is, when you use that phrase (Approved, do the needful), to a subordinate.

1.) A Memo is put-up to address an issue (Procurement of BMW's in this case).

2.) Prior to putting it into writing, the "Boss" and his "subordinate" would "verbally" discuss and dissect the issue at stake

3.) When "all issues" have been thrashed out and "AN AGREED POSITION IS REACHED" ....(viz price, supplier, quality and quantity, mode of payment, 'egunje-level", e.t.c) .. between the "Oga" and the "Junior", the Boss would ask the subordinate to "raise a Memo to that effect, for the Boss to "approve".

4.) The subordinate writes the Memo (raises a request) and addresses it to his/her Boss.
The subordinate signs his name and signature on the left-bottom of the Memo and leaves the right-bottom of the Memo, for the Boss to sign.

5.) The Boss goes through the Memo to ensure that all important issues discussed earlier "are captured" in the Memo. If so, the Boss APPROVES the Memo by "signing his name and signature" on the space provided.

6.) In addition, the Boss MUST write "APPROVED" on the Memo
... and to give "URGENCY" to the Memo, the Boss will append "Do the Needful", implying: Based on our previous discussions and position, do GO AHEAD and TAKE ALL STEPS TO EXECUTE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS MEMO".

Thus, the Memo at this stage becomes a "clear and concise instruction" that must be executed by the subordinate, ASAP! ... otherwise the subordinate is liable for a "query" for dereliction of duty and disobedience! grin grin

By appending "Approved, Do the needful" on that Memo, Stella Oduah is wholly and completely responsible for its content (ofcourse, if we factor-in the fact that she is also the "beneficiary", we can understand why she added that phrase "Do the needful", to it.)

I know most of our House-members ain't that intelligent and experienced otherwise, they should just have invited a few corporate heads, dig-out their previous Memos and do same with Stella Oduah's Memos in other activities she has implemented and you would see that they all follow the same pattern of "Go ahead and implement SPEEDILY".

End of story joor.

Lastpage!

My frnd, I dont know the sector in which you worked and gained your understanding of the use of the directive, "Do the needful", but I tell you you misfired completely in your analysis. So much for show of savvy! Now, everyone, get the TRUE and contextually ACCURATE interpretation (and Oduah's intendment in her use of that term for her defence); it means, "it's ok, but follow due process as usual to implement". But the PROBLEM is that that directive is out of context when the proposal or memo contains specifics, like a vendor's name or a firm offer (quotation). In other words, it depends on what the PRAYER in the memo is. If the prayer goes like, You may wish to APPROVE the award to "x" vendor, at their "y" price, then you as the boss CANNOT say "Approved, do the needful"!!!
"Do the needful" is ONLY used for "approvals-in-principle", that is like, Nkemakolam would say Hon Min, it would be a good IDEA to buy Armoured Bimmers, and the Min would say, ok go ahead and COMMENCE the procurement PROCESS, ie, the needful! Nkemakolam would the prepare an ADVERT COPY and send out to minimum two popular national dailies, inviting interested vendors to submit quotations for Bimmers. This is the first Due Process step, and it cannot be taken without approval.
Politics / Re: 5 Nigerian Leaders That Cannot Be Bribed. by LeSaint(m): 12:19am On Oct 26, 2013
Ninapha: Hmmmm, clears throat,

Going by the recent happings in the country especially on getting real information on cases of corruption, are there Nigerians we can still hope on that could not be bought over.

Just 5 could give us hope, like God said to Abraham 'if I could see even one righteous man....

Who are your candidates?

@Op this a very apt thread, and people shouldn't joke around with it.

It's not just enough to not be "bribable".
I know I cannot be bribed, and there are many who cannot be bribed for one reason or the other - religion, personal principles, patriotism, etc.
And mine is not religion! But additional qualities and strengths of character are necessary.

So, the right question should be; who CAN clean up the Aegean stable?
And the answer is (like it or not):

1. Gen Buhari. 2. Gen Buhari. 3., ....7. Gen Buhari.

Reason is this;

He is a guy who's "GOT ISSUES" with anything sleaze, that is, he'll approach the task with "extreme prejudice" - and that's what it would take to address the chaos that is Nigeria now.

I was a fresh graduate during his regime, and I did write him a letter at State House extolling his policies, and asking that Govt embarked on massive Penitentiary Facilities projects, because I foresaw back then what we are seeing today. Even then, a large proportion of Nigerians needed to be locked away. And Buhari had the same 50-50 vision then, as I believe he still does now.

As a businessman and professional, I also had a close encounter with his work and style at the PTF headquarters, where he set standards of conduct of govt business that would make you think you were in America, or someplace like that. Some of us from our part of the country felt he favored his northern people more with PTF projects, and maybe he did. He is not perfect in all respects.

But, just look at his precedents, and just look at his demeanor. If you were a subordinate of Buhari, would you entertain the thought of breaking any laws?
All the politician know it that if Buhari comes to power, that would be the end of laisez-faire that they have all been used to, and are looking forward to - that's why he's deliberately being relegated at APC.

But I have news for them; APC without Buhari, ... we say it in Igbo like this "O nwero ebe i ji azu aga"!

Politics / Re: NAMA Bought Toyota Tundras For Oduah by LeSaint(m): 3:41pm On Oct 22, 2013
Hello. Am new to the forum, and I am amazed at the jabbing and snapping and backbiting among members. We ALL are the LOOSERS for the profligacy and looting that mark our times, even if you are currently (temporarily) benefiting from it!
The main issues are; 1. are these allegations instigated by anyone, or interest group? To this I say, absolutely, NO. Reason: the revelations emanate from the inside of the system. The latest one - pictures of the parked limos - could only have come from insiders with high access clearances, most likely the staff of NAMA's TRAKON. Same with the purchase docs for the BMWs - from Agency staffers.

Now why would they do that? I dare say, out of frustration and indignation for the atrocious looting going on in their systems, which happens to adversely affect their fortunes, and have potential to fatally jeopardize their futures in the Agencies. My guess is that these are the tips of the icebergs, because the real kados develop wings in mysterious ways, that none but few top rednecks are privy to. The staff know that this is so, because they feel the effects when they are told, "sorry we still can't pay you all your allowances this month", or "no 13th month this year", or "there's a freeze on promotions". And they know to do the math and see that they shouldn't be in that mess with an inflow of say N5b a quarter. So, fellow Nairalanders, what we are seeing here is a series of "SOS" calls from within the system. Let's not politicize it.

No. 2 issue is, can corruption be excused under any circumstance? I say another resounding NO. I am not particular about any personality, but I say what is bad is bad, no matter who is doing it. Illegality is illegality, whether it is a jet or a bicycle you procure with public funds for extraneous purposes.

True, as someone suggested earlier, some of us Ibos tend to be more parochial than most. Let's keep the struggle going, because apparently, we're all we got. Even God seems busy with something else...
