Morning peeps, hope you guys had a restful weekend! Just a quick one. . . Did you know that today is the memorial of St. John Mary Vianney (the Patron of Parish Priests)? Did you know that this Cure of Ars had a childlike devotion to St. Philomena when he was alive? Did you know that he was the one who composed the Litany of St. Philomena? May St. John Mary Vianney in union with St. Philomena present your petitions to God through the hands of the Queen of All Saints, your Mother. AMEN. |

Hi y'all, tomorrow is the first Saturday of August. I have reproduced below an extract from “The Rosary and the Crisis of Faith” on the Blessed Mother’s promise to those who observe the First Saturday Devotion: “I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of 5 consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite 5 decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for 15 minutes, while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.” As we prepare for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin on 15 August, this Saturday is a good opportunity to start this devotion. May the generous Lady of the Rosary grant us the grace to practice this devotion and obtain her promise. AMEN like Carl, i too can't wait to celebrate this GREAT solemnity with Our Lady Happy new month all! |

Hi peeps, The devil is making some of us feel that we can't be of any good any longer. When we want to pray, the devil brings back our past and play it to us as a film. When we want to speak about God and holy living, the devils fills us with guilt that we keep quite (wrong thing to do), saying to ourselves that “we are not worthy to speak”. Unworthy, yes we are; but we should not allow our past failings and evil deeds to stop us from forging ahead. God is not interested in our past as He is in our present. Tuesday July 22, was the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. We know her and we know her story. She had an evil past. But after Christ forgave her her sins, she never allowed those sins to weigh her down. She soared up towards Christ (despite the devil), and she was greatly rewarded. She was not only the first disciple to see Christ after His resurrection, but she is a Saint today and celebrated and honoured all over the world every July 22nd. But that was after she accompanied Jesus and mother Mary to Calvary and took the risk of going to anoint the body of Jesus. Take the risk of faith! So friends, no matter how grievous your past has been, go to CONFESSION, make every effort to avoid every OCCASSION OF SIN and forge ahead. Join people/groups that are interested in heaven; ask the Saints to help you; invoke your Patron Saint and Guardian Angel DAILY, invoke the Holy names of Jesus and Mother Mary when temptation comes, and ACT! Pray your ROSARY DAILY and FREQUENT THE SACRAMENTS. May St. Mary Magdalene, help us to forget our past and soar up to Jesus. And when the devil flashes our evil past, let us say to the devil BOLDLY: Yes, I committed this evil/sin in the past, but Jesus has forgiven me and accepted me. Shame unto you (devil), go your way. Laugh loudly at the devil and go on. God is not interested in our past, but in our present. Let your past teach, "Inspire" and challenge your present. LAST LINE: St. Francis De Sales says: It is no evil to speak holier than you are. And I say to us: It is also no evil to become holier or as holy as we speak. It is all up to YOU. Remember… Chastity is the virtue of those who know the worth of their soul! Enjoy your day! |

I was reading one of St. Louis Marie de Montfort's write ups on resisting temptations this morninig on my way to work, and i think i should share with you below, some highlights of the key facts from the book As long as we live in this world, we cannot be without temptations and tribulations. Hence it is written in the book of Job, “Man’s life on earth is a temptation”. We all therefore should be solicitous about our temptations and watch in prayer lest the devil finds an opportunity to strike – he never sleeps but rather goes about seeking whom he can devour! No one is so perfect and holy as sometimes not to have temptations and we can never be wholly free from them. Nevertheless, temptations are very profitable to man, troublesome and grievous though they may be, for them, a man is humbled, purified and instructed. All the Saints passed through many tribulations and temptations and were purified by them. And they that could not support temptations became reprobate and fell away! Many seek to flee temptations, and fall worse into them! We can not conquer by flight alone, but by patience and true humility, we become stronger than all our enemies. He, who only declines them outwardly and does not pluck out their root, will profit little; nay, temptations will sooner or later return and he will find himself in a worse condition. Be degrees and by patience you will, by God’s grace, better overcome them than by harshness and your own importunity! Take counsel, inconsistency of mind and little confidence in God is the beginning of all temptations! Enjoy your day peeps, |

Never Forget to Say Your Rosary Everyday In travelling the countryside or while you are crossing the street, driving your car, taking the subway, bedridden in the hospital or stuck in prison, don't forget to say your Rosary every day. Let the beads slip between your fingers; they also slip between the fingers of the Holy Father at the Vatican, those of a grandmother in Alaska, a child on a hill in Rwanda, a football player on a field in Rio, a Carthusian monk in his cell, a Carmelite in her cloister, or young evangelists on a mission , The Rosary is certainly the prayer of the poor and the small, the sick and the suffering, par excellence. Yes, always and everywhere; not only in space, but also in time. The latitudes of the planet and longitudes of history crisscross. The Hail Mary has moistened the lips of millions of all ages, races and nations. How many children learned it as their first prayer? How many of the dying whispered it as their ultimate testament? The Hail Mary is a synthesis of two first names: Mary and Jesus. How are y'all doing? |

Hey Peeps, can someone help me out here! When I was in school, I joined this society – The Living Rosary Association (St. Philomena Society). It was actually my first time of hearing about the society then. I was fascinated by the stories I was told by the members on the life of little St. Philomena (virgin and martyr). So I decided to join them. It was a good decision indeed! Well, the thing now is, since I left school, I’ve not participated in the activities of the group, even the weekly devotion. We don’t have this society in my parish nor is it in other parishes close to me. I would really like to identify with this group again, and participate in their weekly devotion in particular. Does anyone know any parish in Lagos (be it on the Island or Mainland) where this group exists? Please don’t hesitate to let me know huh! Thanks y’all! cheers. |

actoor: Mary’s parents (Ann & Joachim) are Saints in Heaven. It is worth knowing that The Church honours them. We implore their intercessions as well, and we’ve never had any regret! If you think you’re being funny by asking such question, well brother, you berra have a rethink! |

hope we know that 29 June is the feast of Saints Peter and Paul? and hope we also know that we can gain Plenary Indulgence on this day by using an article of devotion (crucifix, cross, rosary, medal, scapular), which has been blessed by the Pope or a Bishop? Click the links below: http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/indulge/g35.htm http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/indulge/ac1967.htm#1967N17 http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/indulge/norms.htm#1968N19 PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE CONDITIONS FOR GAINING PLENARY INDULGENCE. Read about the conditions here: http://www.ourladyswarriors.org/indulge/plenary.htm there's this song members of the Sacred Heart sing most times, it's 'mother Mary, mother millionaire i love you (mother Mary, mother millionaire, i love you)'. who knows this song? sounds funny, but i love it when they sing it! have a great day all! |
