This is all about discouragement, don't ever let it get to you!

There are many things that work to keep us from completing our life-missions. Over the years, I’ve debated whether the worst enemy is procrastination or discouragement. If Satan can’t get us to put off our life missions, then he’ll try to get us to quit altogether!

The apostle Paul teaches that we need to resist discouragement: “So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up …” (Galatians 6:9 NLT).
Do you ever get tired of doing what’s right? I think we all do. Sometimes it seems easier to do the wrong thing than the right thing.

When we’re discouraged, we become ineffective. When we’re discouraged, we work against our own faith.
When I’m discouraged, I’m saying, “It can’t be done.” That’s the exact opposite of saying, “I know God can do it because he said ….”

Ask yourself these questions:

How do I handle failure?
When things don’t go my way, do I get grumpy?
When things don’t go my way, do I get frustrated?
When things don’t go my way, do I start complaining?
Do I finish what I start?
How would I rate on persistence?

If you’re discouraged, don’t give up without a fight. Nothing worthwhile ever happens without endurance and energy.
When an artist starts to create a sculpture, he has to keep chipping away. He doesn’t hit the chisel with the hammer once, and suddenly all the excess stone falls away revealing a beautiful masterpiece. He keeps hitting it and hitting it, chipping away at the stone.

And that’s true of life, too: Nothing really worthwhile ever comes easy in life. You keep hitting it and going after it, and little-by-little your life becomes a masterpiece of God’s grace.

What Makes for a Good Confession?

Contrition
Contrition is “sorrow of the soul and detestation for the sin committed, together with the resolution not to sin again.” the reception of this ought to be prepared for by the examination of conscience made in the light of the Word of God. The passage best suited for this can be found in the Ten Commandment, the moral catechesis of the Gospels and the apostolic letters, such as the Sermon on the Mount and the apostolic teachings

The confession of sins
Confession to a priest is an essential part of the sacrament of penance. “All mortal sins of which penitents, after a diligent self-examination, are conscious of must be recounted by them in confession, even if they are most secret…”
Without being strictly necessary, confession of everyday faults (venial sins) is nevertheless strongly recommended by the Church. Indeed, the regular confession of our venial sins helps us form our conscience, fight against evil tendencies, let ourselves be healed by Christ ad progress in the life of the Spirit. By receiving more frequently, through this sacrament, the gift of the Father’s mercy, we are spurred to be merciful as He is merciful.

Satisfaction
Absolution takes away sin, but it does not remedy all the disorders sin has caused. Raised up from sin, the sinner must still recover his full spiritual health by doing something more to make amends for the sin: He must “make satisfaction” or “expiate” his sins. this satisfaction is also called “penance”
The penance the confessor imposes must take into account the penitent’s personal situation and must seek his spiritual good.
…it can consist of prayer, an offering, works of mercy, service of neighbour, voluntary self-denial, sacrifices, and above all, the patient acceptance of the cross we must bear!

I was in Lag throughout last week, I couldn’t believe it! some trainings came up and we were asked to stay back for them. Thurs was public holiday and management decided to add Fri to it. So I had a long and restful weekend!
We left Lag Sunday and I’m back here again in Bayelsa! funny how I’ve missed this tiny state! lol!

it's sunday again and today the church celebrates The Most Holy Trinity

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not be lost but may have eternal life (John 3:16)

Sometimes these words can become too familiar and they roll by on the page without eliciting any new thought. But the greatest mystery of the universe is that God gave - and He gave and He gave some more. In fact, He gave everything so that we could be with Him. That's how much He loves us! 

This is the real mystery that we celebrate today. This is a day to rejoice in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit who[i] love [/i] us!  It's a day to rejoice in the very personal love that God has for each one of us - a love that will never abandon us. God has held nothing back. He invites us, weak and sinful human beings, to share completely in His divine life. And He has moved heaven nd earth to make it possible! What an amazing lover and a most generous giver!

John's Gospel tells us that God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth by revealing the mysteries of the gospel to our hearts. The Holy Spirit takes what He hears from the Father and the Son and reveals it to us in a personal, life-giving way (John 16: 12-15). And this is not just a passing on of information. The Spirit works in such a way as to bring us into an experience of the Trinity. His revelation always lifts our hearts, fills us with joy, and gives us confidence that we are God's beloved children.

Let us at Mass today, ask for a deeper revelation of the Trinity, a revelation of the love that gave everything so that we could be with Him. Expect God to fill you with His divine life and give you a deeper taste of his love.

Have a splendid time at Mass as you encounter Jesus in the Eucharist!

just to remind us all that as we continue to honour our Lady in this month of May, let us try to attend Mass and receive Holy Communion daily or as often as possible; try to overcome some bad habit and acquire the opposite virtue; we should ask our Lord to give us the grace to imitate the virtues of His Mother and try to pray the rosary daily if possible!

and at any opportunity we get, try to promote devotion to our Blessed Mother!
