I don't think your application will be rejected because you are a teacher, and you've only taught for 3months. From what I have seen on this page, people without previous jobs gets it. You can get a letter from them if you wish, or provide a copy of your IVF employment letter and other certifications you have.

I will suggest you send a webform and email reminding them of the timeline. Timeline for temporary work permit from nigeria is now 25weeks. And it should be almost 25 weeks by now.

Written webforms and sent a couple of emails but no progress. Did you do anything specific for them to respond to you?

No review or background check before 21st march 2023. We sent two webforms (Nairobi and general) and an email around 11pm Nigerian time on 21st and got a response around 11am on 22nd.

Jan 5th ,Hubby contacted the MP of his province and pleaded with her to intervene that we have waited for too long,she sympathised with us and promised to write IRCC,one week later she asked my hubby to send my UCI and that of my children, Jan 26th I got a medical request...

Please was your application alone on your old account or you had it with your child's application? If with your child, the new account you created when you linked it, did you find your child's application in the new account along with yours?

I have been trying to link my account but showing "not found", my application was cancelled by ircc and was asked to link and really don't know how to resolve this as I have tried every means and links, so please I don't know if your method above can also work for this situation, as I can only see my child's application but mine was cancelled by ircc mistakenly. Please any suggestion because the cancelled application is even showing "action required" as status update but can't access anything. Thanks

Can we now use spouse's parents, hubby's mother, and land properties as home ties? yes, (you can)

Is medical a must for hubby? if yes (yes)

Is Upfront medical okay since hubby travels a lot and IRCC can send them for medicals while hubby must have returned to work? (yes)

Do children need medical? if yes (not sure about this but I want to believe they do)

Is Upfront medical okay since hubby needs to take them there as well? (yes)

Do children of age (14, 11, and 9) need biometrics? (I believe they do)

GCKey for student or GCKey for hubby, which is preferable? (anyone, your choice)

Spouse is a student and she left in early Jan 2023 for a one-year Program with Co-op being inclusive. Her SP and WP are to expire Jan 2024.

We are planning to apply for OWP for hubby and SP for 3 kids of age (14, 11, and 9).

Hubby is the sponsor and has good travel history. Hubby works outside the shore of Nigeria

She also used home ties as detailed below in her SP application:

1. Ability and efficiency in supplying services to her community on her return to Nigeria.
2. it will increase career prospects
3. enable her to compete both locally and internationally.
4. mother-in-law and her 17-year-old cousin living with them.
5. promise to return to where she volunteered before she traveled; so that she can share knowledge
6. Set up a similar outfit (of study) in the future because her community has a shortfall in the area of skill acquired.
7. Together with hubby, they have landed properties in Nigeria.

I need help with my GCKey account, I was unable to login to my account for sometimes, it keeps taking me back to the sign in page. I filled a webform to complain about it and I was advised to open a new account and link my previous account to it. My issue now is that I have been unable to link the old account to the new one. I will advise you to do it together even if it means waiting to put the money in your account for some time. The wait can be emotionally draining for both parties.

If the family member can send the required funds to your account over a period of time and you can prove that you are financially stable, then you can apply together but if not, let her apply alone while you join later.

4. They can, so I will advise that let the new and the old application be in sync. Be consistent with all the records you give.
5. I will advise you do, especially if you said something related to it in your previous application. As I said earlier, let all the info you give be consistent, in sync, and corroborate each other.
6. It will further strengthen and give more credibility to the application. I want to believe they don't confirm for everyone, but I will advise you to present genuine letter and inform people that you think might be responsible to respond should in case they decide to confirm.

Thanks to everyone for the good work here. I am a returnee here.
Please, I have already arrived in Canada last Month for study and I want to apply for open work permit for my wife and study permit for my kids. I used an agent for my own application, but with the information I am seeing here, I believe that I can do it by myself now.
In this case;
1. Will I be the primary applicant or my wife ?
2. I read that kids above 5 will require study visa and below will require visiting visa. Can this be further confirmed ?
3. Will all the application be together in one GCKEY account or it will be done for each of the family members ?
4. Will IRCC refer still make reference to my application, especially what was written in my own SOP ?
5. If yes to no 4, do I need to write the SOP for my family application now to align with my own SOP or it's not compulsory that the narrative be in alignment ?
6. My wife is a civil servant, is there need for her to obtain a leave of absence or something like that from her place of work to support the application ? Does IRCC confirm such letter ?

Yes, she will be able to extend her study permit in September. She might just need to submit her application immediately the semester starts.

But I don't know if it applies to her case since you said she's already in Canada.

all schools in Alberta alrealy closed admission for may so next option is fall (September)
Her study permit expired in December, will I be able to renew study permit extension if she start school in fall ?

I applied in September and my medical has not been updated till today not to talk of getting any update. My spouse has sent webform emails and reached out to MP like couple of times but no response and MP responded saying SOWP applications usually takes months so there is nothing they can do.We are hoping on God and we would testify soon!!

PPR !!! For a family of five.
My spouse traveled to Canada on student visa in August 2022. I applied for myself and three kids in October 2022.
Timeline
1. Family application, Sowp for me, study permit for two of the kids and visit visa for the third kid on the 21st October
2. Biometrics on the 27th October
3. Medical request by IRCC on the 28th November
4. Medical screening submitted on 27th and passed on 28th December
5. PPR on the 30th for all members of the family.

I appreciate nairaland as I did everything on my own and from information gotten here.

Note: I used the old gckey account my spouse used in getting her study permit.

Pls as soon as ur spouse lands in Canada you can put in ur application as it's not necessary to wait as most people presume.

My application was cancelled in June, IRCC requested I apply for SOWP instead and refunded the application fee - Submitted June 30th 2022

Spouse Study permit was approved August and she resumed September

Munchkins Visitor Visas were approved September 28th, I got medical request same day

PPR today, November 3rd, 2022

It’s been quite interesting and I’ll advise people always apply as a family on the old portal if they have the funds to support it!

Good day, I am trying to apply for SOWP for my husband using my gckey. At the end of the day, the work permit fee showed twice and the open work permit fee also showed 2. It summed up to about $500. I don't know where I am making a mistake, can someone guide me, please?
