Politics / Wike Laughs Off Apc’s Call For Probe Of Rivers Killings by lokobyforch(m): 3:48pm On Sep 29, 2015
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State yesterday dismissed call by the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership in the state for the probe of killings witnessed during the last general elections in Rivers, saying it was laughable.

Wike, who disclosed this in Port Harcourt, the state capital, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, claimed that the APC and its leadership were frustrated.

He insisted that the call for a probe into the killings was laughable considering the fact that they occurred when an APC government under former Governor, Chibuike Amaechi was in power.

Inko-Tariah accused APC State Chairman, Davies Ikanya of indirectly indicting Amaechi of maladministration and repudiating his constitutional responsibility of protecting life and property.

The spokesman urged the state’s APC leadership to give the public details of the killings during the last general elections since it claimed to have the records.

According to him, “I have just been briefed on the bombastic outburst by Davies Ikanya and his co-travellers in the Rivers State chapter of the APC, deprecating Governor Wike for not probing the killings in Rivers State during the elections.

“This is laughable and inane. Is it a case of selective amnesia? Since Dr Ikanya has details of the murders associated with the last general election, why not make them public? In fact, he should be the prime suspect in the alleged murders.

“This obviates the need for further proof that Ikanya and his cohorts are a bunch of flustered and rudderless characters who will relentlessly – although fruitlessly – try to sully the reputation of the governor.

“You don’t need a probe panel to disclose the identities of the alleged murders and their victims. After all, the APC was in power and in control of the state’s machinery. Why then did it not set up a panel? The reason is simple: it shall indict itself.”

Politics / APGA Warns PDP, LP Over Attack On Obiano by lokobyforch(m): 2:56pm On Sep 29, 2015
The All Progressives Grand Alliance on Tuesday in Awka Anambra State warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party to desist from unnecessary attacks against Governor Willie Obiano or taste the party’s wrath.

Addressing reporters at APGA’s state secretariat, the party’s publicity secretary, Hon. Chinedu Nkwonta, said these parties had delved into unwarranted attacks on the working governor because of joblessness.

APGA described allegations of abandoning projects initiated by former Governor Peter Obi by Obiano as frivolous and ludicrous being concocted and peddled by opposition elements without vision.

APGA said, “Let me be clear on this, the honey moon for these visionless and non directional political parties and their cohorts are over. APGA can no more sit and watch them undermine the office of the Governor with unfounded allegations.

“My office is equipped and ready to return back to them as they dish. He that lives in a glass house should not be throwing stones. Enough of their nonsense, that APGA is a law abiding party does not give anyone the impetus to ride our leader and BoT Chairman. Any negative attack on Akpokuo is an attack on APGA. It is an attack on the general integrity of Ndi Anambra who are predominantly APGANS.

“Let me remind the dreamers once more that PDP does not exist in Anambra, what they have are bullies and intimidators that have in the past advantaged their control of the centre to defraud us during elections.

“APGA is fully awake now, be rest assured that such can never happen again in Anambra. Labour party has gone into extinction as it is, no need to push it.”

Romance / Why Most Men Prefer To Watch Porn Than Their Naked Partner In Bed by lokobyforch(m): 6:30am On Sep 26, 2015
Most women have always had a problem with men and their interest in porn.

Somehow, realizing that their man ogles at other women in the nude seems to piss them off. Well, if I were a woman, I’d be pretty pissed off too.

But just like all other guys, if I ever caught my girlfriend sneakily watching porn after dark, I’d be instantly excited instead of feeling two-timed and violated.

So why the big confusion over porn?

Well, it all comes down to the way men and women think. Men think porn is sexy. Women think it’s gross.

Men think porn is a way to see many more naked women without really cheating. Women think watching porn is cheating!

Now not all men and all women feel this way. But certainly, most of them do.

Why can’t a man just watch his woman in bed?

A man could sit up in bed and stare at the beautiful woman sleeping in bed with him, and he may do that too. But he could do that anytime he wants, so really, where’s the novelty in that?

Women should know that most men don’t watch porn every single night. They do it now and then, most often when they’re feeling bored. And even when they watch naked women online, they don’t always see the same girls again and again.

Women should feel mighty pleased to know this, men only care about porn when they’ve got absolutely nothing important to do. It’s true, because most men will forget all about porn if you keep him busy.

Men don’t set an alarm and wake up in the middle of the night just to play pocket pool while watching a perky girl moaning on their laptop. Men usually end up watching porn if they’ve been busy working on their computer all night. And after having finished all their work, they have nothing better to do than watch easily accessible naked women staring back at them while doing naughty things to themselves, other women or other horse-like men.

While all men enjoy a good round of pre-intimacy and sex, it’s just not the same as throttling the little man while watching a few porn stars. The satisfaction that men feel in these two scenarios is completely different. And one scenario doesn’t affect his interest or performance in the other.

Why men like porn

Men like porn for a lot of reasons. Here are a few that could help you understand his interest in all things naked on his computer screen.

# A man gets to see more boobies
A man can never see enough of them. All breasts may seem like the same for women, but those subtle dissimilarities between one pair and another make the men want to see all of them.

# Men get to learn new things in bed
Most of the time, men watch porn only to satisfy themselves, but every now and then, men watch porn because it’s funny or completely unique. It’s a fun pastime that men enjoy.

# Masturbation is fun
Almost all men have spent a big part of their single life with the little boy in their pants. And every now and then, he misses the times he’s spent with the little guy. Hanging out with his hands in his shorts can at times, even feel a lot better than sex. There’s no stress, and the fun time can stretch on for hours. And the best part, he gets to see so many naked women while having fun at the same time.

#Men are curious
Every time a man sees an attractive and desirable woman, one of the first things he does is wonder how she looks beneath her clothes. With so much curiosity, it’s easy to imagine why men can’t wait to see and learn about different women’s body parts. And another thing that most men do, each time they see a sexy celebrity on the telly, all they want to do is go online and look for a few nude movie clips of that girl to see how she looks naked.

Will your guy watching porn affect your relationship?

Nope, his interest in watching porn has nothing to do with the relationship status. He used to watch it when he was single, and now he watches it when you’re sleeping. To a man, porn isn’t his way of cheating on you or fantasizing about other women. It’s just one of his favorite pastimes when he’s feeling restless or bored.

But will he ever compare you to a porn star he likes? It’s obvious he will. Has he ever asked you to try something new or kinky in bed all of a sudden? It’s probably an inspiration from his computer. But whether he compares you or not, a man’s mind is developed enough to realize that what he sees on his computer isn’t real, at least to him. It’s just a fantasy girl stripping herself off and moaning at everything she sees. And men like it!

Will he love you less because he sees other naked women?

No, somehow watching porn doesn’t seem to affect most men, unless they’re addicted to it and can’t live with it. No research or scientist has been able to conclusively prove the real reason behind why men like porn just yet. Perhaps, it’s just his desire to see more naked women and feel good about it. After all, no man is ever satisfied with the number of naked women he sees in his lifetime.

But if you look at it from an evolutionary perspective, primitive men just had to have sex with any primitive woman that moves in the old days. He couldn’t waste time on getting an erection or building up the pre-intimacy if he has to have sex with a woman he bumps into, especially if he had to finish the deed before her real mate sees him. Perhaps, this has lead to a man’s wandering eye and his interest in constantly seeing new naked “mating potentials”.

Should a woman be bothered by his curiosity?

Don’t be. Men hardly ever think their interest in porn qualifies as cheating. Instead, cuddle up with him and watch a few movies yourself. [Read: How porn can save a relationship]

Think of it this way.

A woman watches romantic movies all the time. And she would definitely be able to relate to the feelings of love and affection the actors share on screen. A woman may enjoy the movie, but does that mean she’s falling for the actor in the movie because she felt all those emotions?

Heck, she may even wish her man was more like the romantic actor in the movie. But does that really change anything in real life? No!

And that’s the same thing with men and porn. They may watch women flaunting their assets on their computer, but once their date with their little friend is over, they forget all about it. Even if they do wish their women were more like those porn stars!

Now that you know why men watch porn, relax and stop worrying about it. It’s just a movie and that pair is just another one in several breasts that he’ll admire in his lifetime. At the end of the day, you’re the beautiful woman he sleeps with and he likes his life just the way it is!

Politics / Inside EFCC’s High-profile Corruption Case-DAILYTRUST by lokobyforch(m): 5:53am On Sep 26, 2015
Many Nigerians feel the nation’s foremost anti-corruption agency is, after all these years, not doing enough. What’s been cooking behind the curtains at the EFCC? Daily Trust took a peek.

Arguably at the top of the list of corruption cases being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are those in the pension administration of retired civil servants in the country, checks by Daily Trust revealed. With several ongoing corruption cases in different courts across the country, sources in the anti-graft commission revealed that the top cases include the aforementioned pension scam fraud in the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the now-infamous oil subsidy scam and the Central Bank of Nigeria currency scam. Others are scams involving biometric data and a former Head of the Federal Civil Service, Steve Oronsanya and corruption charges level against former governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido, as well as Adamawa State’s ex-governor Murtala Nyako.

Also listed is the ongoing corruption case against former governor and gubernatorial aspirant in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, and ongoing investigation of alleged fleecing of public funds by former Governor of Kebbi State Saidu Dakingari and Martins Elechi of Ebonyi State. Another on-going probe that is considered top priority by insiders is the ongoing one involving stolen funds at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Pension fraud

EFCC is currently prosecuting two separate cases of pension scam in Federal High Courts in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); the Police Pension Scam and the Head of Service of the Federation Biometric Data exercise scam. In March 2011, ten suspects from the office of the civil service of the federation were arraigned alongside 30 companies on 134-count charges for allegedly defrauding the Pensions Account, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, over N30 billion.
The cases against the accused persons has gone through several court process over the years with amended charges and delays in the justice system, hence most of the charges filed in courts has not been concluded, Daily Trust learnt.

At the last hearing of a related matter, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the EFCC, on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 arraigned four persons before Justice Abubakar Talba of the Federal High Court, Gudu, Abuja, on a 29-count charge bordering on conspiracy, and collecting by false pretence. The four accused persons Ibrahim Ahmed Mazangari, Muhammed Sani Sulaiman, Hajia Fatima Mazangari and Saleh Yerima Tsojon, are alleged to have obtained N1.2 billion from the Federal Government by false pretence and with intent to defraud.

They are accused of purporting same to be monthly pension payable to M. S. Suleiman, Saleh Yerima Tsojon, Isah U. Adamu, Daniel Mikano, and Abdulahi Garba Musa who were falsely held out as pensioners of the Federal Government, by inserting their names in the pensioners’ payroll.
The accused persons, who were offered a biometric contract by a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Steve Oronsaye, to regularize names of pensioners on the pensions’ payroll, allegedly smuggled in names of fake pensioners, and collected unearned pension.
While fixing November 2 and 3, 2015 for trial to begin, Justice Talba ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody, pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

In another pension fraud case, N20.8 billion fraud allegation filed by the EFCC against Esai Dangabar, former Director of the Police Pension Board, who is standing trial alongside Atiku Kigo, Inuwa Wada, Mrs Uzoma Attang, Mrs Veronica Onyegbula and Sani Zira is still pending. The accused persons are standing trial on a 20-count charge bordering on stealing and criminal breach of trust, these cases are still ongoing, Uwujaren said.
Meanwhile In December 2013, the EFCC said it discovered that Steve Oronsaye, a former Head of Service, and other top directors of the civil service allegedly conspired to defraud the country of N6.2 billion pension fund.

The Money was alleged to have been stolen through complex contracts for biometric enrolment and payment for computer accessories that were never supplied.

According to sources, Oronsanya, while Head of Service between 2009 and 2010, entered into the fake contracts that awarded N6 billion in bogus services.

According to Uwujaren, Oronsanye was arraigned on 15 July 2015 at the Federal High Court Abuja, while the case was adjourned for hearing to the 21st October 2015, the case has been sent to the Chief Judge for reassessment base on the allegation of bias.

Oil subsidy fraud

Outrage over the alleged oil subsidy fraud perpetrated by oil marketers pushed the EFCC to commence several probes which led to recent arraignments of individuals and entities in courts across the country, an EFCC disclosed to Daily Trust.

The EFCC, on Thursday July 26th, 2012 docked some of the 20 suspects billed for trial over the fuel subsidy scam before Justices Habeeb Abiru and Adeniyi Onibganjo of the Lagos High Court.

While Mr. Abdulahi Alao and Axenergy Limited were docked before Justice Abiru over a N2.6billion scam, seven others were separately arraigned before Justice Onigbanjo.

Alao, the managing director of Axenergy Limited was docked on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain money by false pretences contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

The accused, with his company Axenergy Limited, allegedly obtained the sum of N2,640,141,707.75 (Two billion, six hundred and forty million; one hundred and forty one thousand; seven hundred and seven Naira, seventy five Kobo only) being payments obtained from the Petroleum Support Fund for the purported importation of 33.3 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit.

The these cases which are still pending in court are part of cases being prosecuted in what is described as an ongoing investigation into the oil subsidy regime, Uwujaren noted that the investigation would be extensive and several more subsidy scammers will be arraigned in court soon.

Currency fraud

The EFCC also said Justice Nathaniel Ayo Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ibadan, on 15th June, 2015 dismissed the bail application brought by six former staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. The accused persons: Patience Okoro Eye, Afolabi Olufemi Johnson, Ilori Adekunle Sunday Kolawole Babalola, Olaniran Muniru Adeola and Fatai Adedokun Yusuf, are being prosecuted by the EFCC for over N8billion mutilated currency “recycling” fraud.

Justice Emmanuel in dismissing their application for bail said the interest of the accused must not only be considered while looking at their application but that of the common man and the society. He said the court was refusing the accused persons bail because of the gravity of the offence which borders on the economy and well being of the people of the country.
Justice Emmanuel dismissed their application and ordered for accelerated hearing. He also warned counsel that he would not entertain frivolous applications.

The accused persons were arraigned June 2, 2015 on 28-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing. Specifically, the former apex bank employees are alleged to have compromised the CBN’s Briquetting exercise, meant to combat the inflationary spiral in the economy, occasioned by excess dirty notes. Justice Emmanuel adjourned the matter till July 6 and 7 for trial.
In a similar development, Justice Emmanuel also dismissed the bail application brought by three former staff of CBN and two staff of Sterling Bank.

Former governors on trial

Many former governors are also being prosecuted for financial crime offenses committed while they held sway as chief executives of their respective states, although many of these cases are still pending in courts.

The EFCC recently commenced fresh trials of some former governors. According to Uwujaren, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 the EFCC arraigned former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, his two sons Aminu Sule Lamido and Mustapha Sule Lamido, Aminu Wada Abubakar and Batholomew Darlington Agoha. He said they were docked before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a 27-count amended charge bordering on corruption and money laundering.

One of the charges read: “That you Alhaji Sule Lamido (while being Governor of Jigawa State, Nigeria), Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, and Speeds International Limited between 15th October and 18th December, 2008 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did convert an aggregate sum of N124,649,915 paid by Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company Nigeria Limited into the account of Speeds International Limited. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges. Justice Adeniyi Ademola, thereafter, adjourned till October 21 and 22 for trial.

Also on Wednesday July 9, EFCC made a string of simultaneous arraignment of four governors, their sons and other accomplices on charges of diversion of public fund.
The EFCC arraigned a former Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, his son Abdulaziz and two aides: Zulkifkk Abba and Abubakar Aliyu before a Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of embezzlement of state funds.

The EFCC also arraigned a former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, on a three-count charge in a different court on conspiracy and money laundering; the next adjourned date for trail is the 28th of September at the Federal High court in Abuja.
Another former governor recently arraigned is Timipre Silver of Bayelsa State who is being prosecuted for alleged conspiracy, Abuse of Office and Money Laundering. He was arraigned on 25th June 2015 at a Federal High Court in Abuja; no definite date has been set for resumption of trial.
Also being investigated is former governor of Kebbi State Saidu Dakingari.

According to sources in the commission Dakingari was supposed to report at the Abuja head office of the commission earlier this week but sent his lawyer with the excuse of visiting his wife who is sick and being treated abroad.

The EFCC had on Monday March 18, 2013 arraigned the former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu alongside a former Director General of the Directorate of Rural Development in his administration, Alfa Ibn Mustapha before Justice A.O. Adeniyi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

They were arraigned on a 36-count charges bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N10,965,837,040 (ten billion, nine hundred and sixty-five thousand, eighty hundred and thirty seven naira, forty kobo).
A top official at the EFCC decried the slow pace of the case, noting that the commission has already called three of four witnesses and is close to its final addresses on the matter. He pointed out that if the matter is not concluded before elections in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu may escape justice and hide under the immunity clause if he wins the election.

Ineffective EFCC probes

However, a source with a divergent view noted that EFCC probes were defective in the selective constitution of its probe committee’s setup and the processes used. It noted that: “the probes are ineffective and never result in anything advantageous and that’s me being honest, because I have never seen or heard any reasonable outcome to be celebrated as a result of an EFCC probe.”

The source continued: “I would say Tafa Balogun’s and Bode George’s were good cases that were conclusive but not extensive in my opinion because if they were, more heads should have rolled. The pension thieves and subsidy cases should top the list, but they seem to have become secret cases of sorts, which no-one is following up on anymore.”

Crime / Armed Robbery And Pick-pocketing Now The Order Of The Day – Aba Residents Lament by lokobyforch(m): 12:57pm On Sep 25, 2015
Residents of Aba, Abia State, Friday, lamented over the resurgence of armed robbery and pick-pocketing in some parts of the city, as robbers now waylay traders and workers between 5am. to 6am. around Ngwa, St. Michaels, Azikiwe roads and York Street.

According to reports, a cross section of traders at the market have continued to record early morning robbery incidents since some drug dealers were sacked from their former abode at York Street, calling on the police to beef up security in the area.

One Christiana Peter, a trader at the ‘Good Morning Market’ at Ngwa road, disclosed that she was robbed of N7, 000 when she went to buy goods from the market.

Likewise, a staff of a transport company, who identified herself as Mrs. Pearl Ikechukwu, said she lost over N20, 000 to the robbers at the York Street by Park road junction as she alighted from a bus at about 5.30am when three men approached her and pointed a gun at her.

She said: “On my way back from work, I withdrew N20, 000 to pay a debt at the office the next day because my friend was travelling by 7am. When I alighted from a bus that I took from Ogbor Hill to Park road at about 5.30am., three young men stopped and pointed a gun at me. Before I knew what was happening, they collected my hand-bag containing the money. I couldn’t shout because there was nobody to help.”

Vanguard reports that all efforts to get the reaction of the spokesman of the Abia Police Command, Ezekiel Onyeke, failed.

Politics / Why Mr. Godwin Emefiele Should Have Been Fired by lokobyforch(m): 9:01pm On Sep 23, 2015
The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, is coming under fire from economists and investors as the economy reels from the collapse in oil prices, Financial Times has reported.

Emefiele had introduced a range of currency controls in recent months to try to halt the decline of the naira, which has lost about 22 per cent of its value since the oil price collapse began in July 2014.

But critics say the measures are inflicting pain at the worst time for Nigeria. They fear that Emefiele is jeopardising the hard-won credibility of the country as an attractive frontier market.

The governor’s recent policy moves “break the rules of Economics 101”, says one Nigerian economist.

More than a dozen Lagos- and London-based economists, investors and analysts told the Financial Times last week they thought the central bank should allow the currency to find its market value.

They estimate this should be between 10-20 per cent lower than the official interbank rate, which is between 197 and 199 naira per dollar.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who took office in May, has yet to outline a fiscal policy and observers say this has increased Emefiele’s influence.

“The new administration has not been engaging at the macro level in the past three months or so and this has caused this pressure on the naira and on the central bank”, the Chief Executive Officer, Economic Associates, a consultancy in Lagos, Ayodele Teriba, said.

“Rather than comforting us this has rather made us more worried.”

Emefiele defends the new measures, which include the effective banning of 41 imports including key goods such as rice and steel pipes. He says the currency is appropriately priced and argues that “people are expecting the abnormal to happen in Nigeria”.

“We can’t continue to pursue a policy of indeterminate depreciation of our currency,” he says, noting that fellow African oil producers Angola and Ghana have devalued by slightly more than Nigeria — 23 per cent and 25 per cent respectively.

China has been roiling global markets all summer as its authoritarian leaders try to stop a huge stock bubble from bursting and its slowing economy from stalling

Tony Elumelu, a prominent Nigerian businessman, agrees. He advocates conserving foreign reserves by removing fuel subsidies that cost the government an estimated $3bn a year — a move Mr Buhari has for now ruled out.

Emefiele’s predecessor, Lamido Sanusi, was widely praised for reforming Nigeria’s banking sector and increasing transparency at the central bank. He was suspended by former president Goodluck Jonathan just days after he exposed an alleged $20bn in “missing” oil revenues.

There are concerns that the central bank may be influenced by the presidency. Buhari last week commented that he did not think the naira should be devalued further.

“The central bank needs to be seen as an institution which is operating with the very highest global standards, to reassure investors that the path of the bank is in keeping with the best practices in central banking”, a Nigerian economist and chief executive of AGH Capital Group, Charles Okeahalam, said.

Sarah Alade and Joseph Nnanna, deputy central bank governors, have publicly stated that there is insufficient liquidity in the market to meet dollar demand and say the bank needs to allow freer

“The issue of obtaining dollars has become ludicrously difficult. If he is right that the price (of the naira to the dollar) is right, then there should not be a shortage”, Paul Clark of Ashburton Investments in South Africa said.

Clark and other investors predict the impact of the central bank’s policies will be long lasting and fear that the ejection this month of Nigeria from JPMorgan’s influential emerging markets bond index will be the first of a number of blows to the country’s reputation.

The governor’s policies have been tried before in other emerging markets, and they “buy time, but they always fail”, the Head of Research at emerging markets-focused asset manager, Ashmore, Jan Dehn, said.

“And as they do so they create serious reputational damage that can take years to live down.”

Religion / Eid-el-kabir Celebration: Saraki Preaches Fear Of Allah, Unity by lokobyforch(m): 7:24pm On Sep 23, 2015
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday felicitated with the Muslim faithful on this year’s celebration of Eid-el-Kabir and urged Nigerians to make the fear of God the foundation for their lives.

Saraki in a goodwill message to Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithful, to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir said the Eid-el-Kabir festival symbolised the fear of Allah and the desire of man to always comply with the wish of his creator as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

He noted that with fear of Allah, mutual respect and love, “we will tolerate one another, work together and be able to harness our abundant resources as a progressive nation. We cannot achieve much with unnecessary factions and disharmony. What Nigerians need now is to move forward with the present change era”.

He also called on all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and mutual respect adding that these virtues are the panacea to move the nation forward.

Saraki said: “We have herculean tasks to address. Our army of unemployed graduates and youths are hovering on the street. Insecurity is threatening the peace and social development of our dear nation, quality health care services and economic buoyancy are major challenges that require urgent attention.

“I am very optimistic that with our collective efforts, these challenges are surmountable and we will soon overcome.” Saraki stated.

The Senate President however used the occasion to call on all arms of government not to rest on their oars in the onerous task of building a formidable nation where all Nigerians will live in peace and prosperity.

Saraki charged Muslims to continue to pray for the government, the Military and other agencies in the fight against insurgency adding that the peace and socio-economic development of our nation remain paramount.

He pledged the continuous support and encouragement of the Senate in putting Nigeria back on the right track.

Crime / CCT: Saraki's counsel Protests Tribunal's Adjournment Date by lokobyforch(m): 2:04pm On Sep 22, 2015
The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, adjourned sitting over allegations of false assets declarations leveled against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, till October 21, 22 and 23 2015.

This decision has, however, been protested by counsel to the Senate President, Joseph Daudu, who said the time was too short for them to aggregate all that is needed for a strong defence.

Saraki pleaded not guilty to the 13-count charge read to him by the Court Clerk, when he was docked on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Prosecuting Counsel, Olurotimi Jacob, accused supporters of the Senate President of attempting to ridicule the tribunal judge.

Politics / Unpaid Salaries: Osun Students Hold Deputy Governor Hostage by lokobyforch(m): 7:02pm On Sep 21, 2015
Students of tertiary institutions owned by the Osun State Government on Monday, September 21,2015 to the streets of the state capital, Osogbo to protest the prolonged strike embarked upon by their lecturers as a result of non-payment of their salaries by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Students, mostly from the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree; Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke; Colleges of Education in Ila and Ilesa, commenced the protests in Olaiya before trekking to the State Secretariat in Abere, chanting anti-government songs and slogans.

.The students arrived at the secretariat around 11 am, laying siege at the gate until about 12:50pm, when the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori, arrived with her convoy.

As soon as she arrived, the students were said to have laid on the ground in front and behind the car, making it impossible for her go into the secretariat or turn back.

Moves by Laoye-Tomori to calm the students down failed as they remained adamant.

Also caught in the melee was the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, Lawrence Oyeniran, who the students make jest of by poking his stomach.

Lukman Adekitan, the Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students, said the students were tired of staying at home due to the strike in the four institutions.

He called on Governor Rauf Aregbesola to addressed the issues raised by the lecturers, saying students of the affected schools have wasted a lot of time due to incessant strikes.

Politics / Okorocha Gets Approval To Increase Imo State Debt Profile To N80bn by lokobyforch(m): 9:10am On Sep 21, 2015
Governor Rochas Okorocha has gotten approval to take the Federal Government’s N20 billion bond.

With this, the state debt profile would increase to N80b.
It was observed that the state is owing over N60 billion, including the Federal Government’s N26 billion bailout fund, which is expected to be paid back in 20 years.

The decision by Governor Okorocha to grab another N20 billion became manifest via a letter from the Federal Ministry of Finance, DMO/PMD/241//T/7, dated August 25, 2015, and signed by A. M. Daniel-Nwaobis, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

According to the letter obtained by Vanguard, the Permanent Secretary’s mail was sequel to Okorocha’s earlier letter, dated May 2, 2015, requesting for approval to issue on “an Irrevocable Standing Payment Order, ISPO, for an amount of N402,957,780.91 monthly for 84 months in respect of a N20 billion ISG (Imo State Government) Bond Issuance Programme” to Finance Uncompleted and New Projects.”

The Federal Government drew Okorocha’s attention to “the fact that based on the fall in oil prices and the consequent decline of revenues for governments at all levels in the country, there is an urgent need to exercise greater restraint with respect to borrowing to avoid future debt unsustainability.”

It informed Governor Okorocha that the Debt Management Office had advised that his request could be granted. Consequently, the Permanent Secretary granted a “no objection” approval for the government to go ahead with the plan.

“Accordingly, I hereby grant a no objection for the state government to issue an ISPO for a monthly deduction of N402,957,780.91 for 84 months in respect of a N20 billion bond for the completion of on-going infrastructure development projects and for new development projects in the state, subject to the state meeting other requirements of the Investment and Securities Act, 2007,” the Permanent Secretary stated.

Politics / PDP Attack On Buhari Shows It Supports Impunity, Corruption – APC by lokobyforch(m): 9:19am On Sep 20, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party of openly launching a counter-offensive against the efforts of the Buhari administration to rid the country of impunity and corruption, but warned that the opposition party will fail in its attempt to take Nigerians back to Egypt.

“Saturday’s Press Statement by the PDP is nothing but a thinly-veiled frontal assault on the relentless efforts of the Buhari Administration’s to clean the Augean Stable of the last PDP Federal Government,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed

”With its statement that is nothing but an unabashed support for impunity and corruption, as well as its major actors, the PDP has now confirmed itself as the official ‘poster boy’ for corruption in Nigeria.”

APC said the long-winding sophistry about the rule of law, democracy and personal freedoms is aimed at couching the PDP’s abhorrence and disdain for the fight against corruption in democratic clichés, especially now that the battle is gradually hitting the PDP where it hurts.

The party said for the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary himself, the persistent onslaught against the Buhari administration is neither altruistic nor informed by any belief in higher values, “because the allegations of corruption hanging on his own neck, from within his own party, is a clear indication that he is mortally afraid that the wind will soon blow hard enough to expose the fowl’s rump”.

“Neither the PDP as a party nor its spokesman have the moral authority to condemn anyone, least of all a President that is working hard to rescue Nigeria from the abyss to which it has been plunged by the former ruling party.

“For the PDP to brush aside the latest revelation that a government it sired could not account for $700 million from the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), or the fact that the party could not account for billions of Naira in its own campaign funds, and then launch a frontal attack against a reformist government, is the height of shamelessness.

“For the ethically-challenged spokesman of the same morally-deficient party to continue to spew trash under the guise of opposition politics is totally provocative and absolutely unacceptable. Worse still, the lack of focus in the labyrinthine statements being issued by the opposition party has confirmed the prescience of the APC’s offer to the PDP’s spokesman to take a crash course in how to speak for the opposition,” APC said.

Politics / PDP Flags Off E-registration Exercise In Edo by lokobyforch(m): 5:20pm On Sep 12, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party has flagged off the e-registration exercise of both old and new members in Agenebode, headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

At Ward 1, existing and prospective members of the party were seen as early as 9am seen filling registration forms given to them and waiting to be registered.

Director of Operations of the firm handling the project, Emmanuel Nsubuisi, said registered members would have been issued identity cards immediately but some equipment arrived late.

He however promised that the cards would be ready by Monday.

According to him, “The project itself is highly complicated and technical because we have to do instant issuance. When you register their bio-metrics, you print their cards for them and you encode on the card instantly.

‎”Due to logistics reasons, some of the equipment could not arrive on time. But we are taking custody of them in the next one or two days.

Chairman of the e-Membership Registration Committee, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, said the PDP has begun an inclusive process of rebranding itself in order to conform with global best practice of political participation.

Chief Dokpesi said the e-registration would put an end to godfatherism within the party and create room for all members to be owners of the party.

Dokpesi warned that the PDP would collapse if younger generation were not given opportunity to aspire and participate in democratic processes.

“They (registered members) will contribute their own quota, so you don’t have to look for a godfather. You can imagine if you pay your N100 every month. For six million members, that the PDP at one time said it had, that would have been N6 billion in one month, N72 billion in a year. So, why are you looking for a godfather?

“When in August 1998, we said PDP, Power to the People. That means power resides with the people; it is the people that decide. But we now have a PDP where a group of people, when they get together, they determine who the governorship candidate is. They determine who the governor is, taking away the power from the people.

“When you are going into an election, unless you have a good godfather, or a powerful godfather and godmother, or a garrison commander, with your merit, you will not become what you want to become,” he said.

He continued, “In Edo North here, there were some certain persons who will determine who the councillors will be; who will determine who the local government chairman will be, will determine who will contest for state house of assembly.

“They alone will determine who will go for governorship; they alone will determine who will be minister. They will determine who will be president, they will determine (and) above all this one, the assistant to God because actually, they were quarter to God.

“And we said no; we have to try to return power to the people and the only way we can do it is to be a part owner of it, is to be able to properly get the ordinary man to play a role (and) to give him a voice.

Dokpesi, who is also the head of the reconciliatory and mobilisation committee of the PDP in Edo, warned that the “party will collapse,” if it failed to create an opportunity for the younger ones.

He said, “PDP as you can see have become party of the old men. We have to return the party to the younger generation. The times of the Anenihs of this world, of the Shehu Shagaris, of the Adamu Ciromas of this world, of the Babangidas and Raymond Dokpesis of this world have come and gone.

“This party will collapse if will do not encourage the younger ones and give them opportunity. After all, Shehu Shagari became a federal minister at the age of 18, (Richard) Akinjide became a minister at the age of 21; M. T. Mbu became an ambassador at the age of 20. Just all of them had the opportunity to get involved. They didn’t say they were too young then.

“The party is coming back with the policy of zero for primaries. We are saying if we have biometric registration. People don’t like this because they can no longer sit in their air-condition of their sitting room and decide the fate of others.

“We must return Nigeria to an ear where ordinary citizens of this country have the right to aspire to anything he wants to become without having some up there to push him. We are in an era of technology and we need this to rebuild the party, mobilize the youths and let the people know the core value of the reforms of the party.”‎

Politics / Breaking: APC Vice Chairman Resigns by lokobyforch(m): 3:12pm On Sep 11, 2015
Malam Musa Adamu, the Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, has resigned. Adamu, who is the zonal vice chairman of APC for Bauchi South Senatorial District, announced his resignation at a news briefing on Friday in Bauchi.

He said the resignation was to protect his image, honour and dignity. Adamu said that the party lacked good leadership in the state, as such it would be unwise for him to remain in its state executive council.

According to him, most card carrying members of the party and the generality of sympathisers have also lost confidence in the state leadership of the APC. “I tender my resignation as APC Zonal Vice Chairman Bauchi South Senatorial District in view of the prevailing circumstances and political realities of present day Bauchi State APC,” he said.

He accused the party leadership of “unethical behaviours” which were in conflict with the political ideology and philosophy of the party’s apex leader President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adamu however said he would remain a member of the APC, and expressed the hope that measures would be taken to correct the anomalies within the party, so as to ensure purposeful leadership.

Like it or not sex is a favour but not just a favour rather a "mutual favour". The real question here is:

WHAT ARE THE MUTUAL FAVOURS:

* the guy who is terribly HANDSOME and the fat ugly RICH babe.

* the fat RICH guy and the FIGURE 8 lady.

* the BODACIOUS unschooled lady and the lanky EDUCATED guy.

* the short black lady DOCTOR and the tall CUTE guy.

* the super ugly ARTIST and the HANDSOME retrogressing manager.

* the rich INFLUENTIAL guy and the rich lady NOBODY.

If you cant offer something to your crush then forget it, everybody is looking for something. PLS DON'T EMBARRASS YOURSELF.
Politics / Nigeria Is No Easy Task - Buhari by lokobyforch(m): 9:37am On Sep 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it is not easy for his administration to fight terrorism, oil theft and corruption at the same time.

But he said in spite of the difficulties being faced in fighting these scourge, his administration would not relent in eliminating the vices from the nation’s body polity.

Buhari said this when the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe, visited him in Abuja on Thursday.

The President, who expressed appreciation for Gnassingbe’s visit and for his concern about regional security, said his regime was being challenged with the Boko Haram insurgency, oil theft, illegal fishing, oil pollution and illegal dumping of toxins in the country.

Buhari said it was not easy for his administration, which he said, was fighting on many fronts.

According to him, the government is contending with insurgency in the North-East and oil theft in the South-South while trying to provide infrastructure in the country at the same time.

He said, “His (Gnassingbe’s) concern about regional security made it imperative for him to organise a summit on maritime security and development in November to examine a lot of issues.

“As for Nigeria, we are grateful for the sympathy and the goodwill expressed, touching on the performance of our armed forces and law enforcement agencies, since this administration came into being. It is not easy trying to fight on so many fronts, the North-East, the South-South and then try to provide infrastructure in our country.”

The President observed that the cooperation of the regional countries comprising Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic had resulted in the isolation of Boko Haram and peace in the region.

He also advised African countries to pay attention to agriculture and manufacturing to provide jobs for the jobless.

Earlier, the Togolese President had invited Buhari to a security and piracy summit scheduled for Lome in November.

Gnassingbe said his country was organising the summit because $7bn had been lost to piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.

The Togolese leader told Buhari that the security summit would deal with issues of piracy, oil theft, environmental pollution, immigration as well as human and drug trafficking.

He therefore called on African nations to collaborate to combat the scourge and security challenges in the sub-region.

Gnassingbe commended Buhari and the Nigerian security forces for the work they were doing to combat terrorism in West Africa.

When asked by journalists if African countries were not hosting too many summits, Gnassingbe disagreed, saying the summits were not enough.

He said, “Piracy alone costs the Gulf of Guinea $7bn a year, that is what we lose for not combating it and we also know that without cooperation you cannot combat piracy, but the first stage is to come together and talk.

“If all the African countries are on the same page, it would be easy to tackle the security

challenges, so we have to keep holding summits, because individual countries cannot combat piracy effectively without cooperation.

“If you try to fight them in Togo, they go to the next country, then you don’t have the mechanism to go into the other countries. So, summits are necessary, they are not even sufficient.”
