Did your connection go off at any point during the interview?
Do you think your lighting was good enough?

Farouksenior:
i saw this

SUCCESS CRITERIA

You were assessed on the following key areas in the video interview and case study. These areas are critical to success in Unilever.

• Judgment (i.e. big picture thinking, analyzing information and making decisions, thinking innovatively and being positive about change).

• Drive (i.e. having the motivation to succeed, working to accelerate business growth, being obsessed with consumer needs and improving brands and consumer experience)

• Influence (i.e. communicating effectively, learning from mistakes and inspiring others)

You were required to demonstrate at least an acceptable standard of performance for each area in order to show that you have reached the minimum requirements of the programme

Feedback

Judgment - Big picture thinking, analysis & decision making and change & innovation
Overall, you provided mixed evidence against ‘big picture thinking’, with some positive evidence but with some areas that require development. You could develop further by thinking about how you would support Unilever’s wider vision and goals. You needed to provide more evidence about the details of some of the wider issues (i.e. impact on resource, on other people, on the consumer, on budget etc.) and how you would deal with these in Unilever. You could develop further by thinking about how you would work more effectively with different teams across Unilever and how you could achieve savings (i.e. deliver more for less). For example, what approach would you take to build relationships with others in order to gain information about the wider business? How would you ensure you were effective at cross-team / cross-functional meetings? How would you add value?

You provided some positive evidence against how you assimilate information, but you needed to provide more clarity around how you analyze information. What process do you go through to get to the crux of a problem? How do you ensure that you evaluate the data in a way which means no important issues are missed? You also needed to provide more information about how you make decisions and how you would arrive at a decision quickly. When analyzing information you may want to think about what you are trying to achieve? It is useful to set out the questions that you want to answer at the outset so that you can identify the trends, inconsistencies and risks in the data. You would also benefit from thinking about how you present the full rationale behind your ideas / solutions in a convincing manner (especially when working with more senior individuals). For example, what are you setting out to achieve? Why is it important? Why is it useful to the audience? What can they gain from this project? What methodology or approach are you utilizing?

Overall it is clear that you are positive about change and you identify some opportunities for better ways of working. You could further develop by considering the full impact of change on others and think about the practical implications of making your ideas a reality. You may also want to think about how you would motivate and encourage others to generate creative ideas and how you would address resistance to new ideas or new ways of working.

Drive - Drive to succeed, accelerating business growth and consumer needs
You demonstrated some understanding of Unilever and your own values and strengths. However, you needed to provide more detailed evidence of how you would use your strengths to be successful in Unilever and on the Programme. You could benefit by thinking about how you will drive your own career and development and how you will overcome challenging business problems or barriers.

You needed to provide more evidence against working effectively to accelerate business growth. For example, it is clear that you adopt a structured approach to work, but is not clear why quality is important to you and what steps you will take to maintain quality results. You could improve further by explaining the logic behind your thinking and providing a clear rationale for your methods. You could also improve further in the future by thinking about how you prioritize complex tasks, how you deal effectively with pressure and how to multi-task more effectively to achieve more in busy times.

Influence - Inspirational leadership, influencing skills and learning agility
You demonstrated mixed evidence against this area, you provided some positive evidence but also have some development areas. You spoke clearly for most of the interview, however, you needed to provide further evidence that you would work closely with stakeholders across Unilever (including senior individuals). In order to improve further you should think about how you would work collaboratively and effectively with a wide-range of people (i.e. including those more senior to you) and how you will proactively support others? How would you share information to ensure that everyone worked well together? What action would you take to support and motivate members of the team? You also need to think about how you would take control of your own development and learning? How would you learn from your mistakes and what action would you take to ensure that you didn’t make the same mistakes again in the future?

I did Access too, wasted time and money going for different stages only to be kicked out after an interview with top management which went seemingly well. The annoying thing was the excuses I had to give at work just to attend their interviews.

Lola800 and others that have gotten rejection mails, don't despair. Good jobs will come eventually. The good side is you already know your fate unlike the rest of us that are drowning in anxiety. Now, you can channel your energy to other great things.

Good luck to everyone!

PS: In as much as this video interview saves time and energy, I think I still prefer a real interview or at worst, a Skype interview. At least, you'll get to see your interviewers' faces.

Thanks

Awwww, Lola don't feel bad. I same feedback almost immediately (about 10-15 mins). I was heartbroken cos i was already in love with the company. Just let it go and try other good orgs. All the best.

Forgot to add this, i did not cry but tears rolled down my cheeks and i was down almost the whole day but I know why i didn't do well and i am over it now.

Thank you so much
Lool @you didn't cry but tears rolled down your cheeks...it's all good. A good number of us experienced that too wink

If you have an idea of why you didn't do well pls share cause I have been racking my brain for what I did wrong

As for the Access, there's a very good possibility that you'll get called for the August batch if you didn't get a regret mail after TM Int.

Meanwhile it would be nice to get updates and opinions from people so we all can brainstorm and know how this stuff works.
Thanks to all those that have contributed (and not just silently observing), Yes I understand that not everyone likes to say stuff online but it's only fair to give back when you gain.
I gained from people's contributions hence why I'm taking out time to give out responses

@lola800, you should confirm if the feedback mail was personalized. I will like to know the catch phrase used in your feedback that made you draw your conclusions.

Yes it was personalised. I mean it had my name
Doesn't necessarily mean it will differ totally from someone's else mail. It could just be a change of name but same message.
Plus I got the reply less than 2 hrs after the interview. If they actually went through the video and came up with that analysis thrn I give them thumbs up to them.

Are you saying that the email you got immediately after the video interview was a regret mail where you were advised to apply again in 12 months? The email that rates you according to Drive, Influence & Judgement?
If that is so, then it's a New development in the Hirevue video interview update email from Unilever.
Can you tell specifically how it was written?

Yeah I also thought of that @new development.
Either that or I did sth unacceptable(you know they try to sieve people out which ever way they can).Plus the notion our foreign peeps have of Nigeria, they may be on their guide for any signs that someone tries to trick the system.
I have also speculated that late applications are automatically turned down. (I mean games/videos done close to the end of the 7 days ultimatum)

These are all speculations btw

please did u get the congratulatory message on completion of stage 3? What did u apply for please?

I got a congratulatory message first for attempting/completing the test. With a list of traits they looked out for during the interview. Then an analysis of performance based on those traits.
Then a second mail (regret mail) came in saying they won't be continuing with my app. For those yet to get a second mail, it could be that your apps are still under consideration. Rejoice and be glad

God bless you real good for what you have done. Thank you for the questions and the the other aspect of using another phone if u messed up the first time. I read the questions you wrote here, prepared my answers but as I was answering it, I knew I was saying nonsense so I used the method you suggested and it worked.

Now here are the questions again.

1. If you were in a make research team where a new change process is being implemented, the old staffs are not receptive to the change this they are risking their health and also wastage. The question is
- how would you communicate the new change process of how to reduce waste to them
- what suggestions would you proffer
- what will thee solutions achieve

2. You are in the social interaction team and you have been posted to Thailand. There's a a situation where many dark skinned customers in south east Asia do not use light and lovely despite its content of sunscreen and there liability to skin cancer if not using sunscreen.
You are to profer a solution to the business team to let them know if the fair and lovely would be a viable brand in Thailand

- how would you interact with the customers
- What will you use to gather your data

3) describe your most innovative Unilever product and what the limitations are or suggested improvements.

- what makes it innovative
- what are the limitations to this product if any
- ways to embed this product to the market

4. The video has been posted. Watch the video. The video is a TVC. Here are the questions.

- come up with a business problem regarding the TVC
- what are the risks if any identified in the business problem and how did you come about it
- mitigation to the risks
- who would you communicate your points to abd what would be the most important points for each audience

Now these questions are for those that applied for research and development. If you have done supply chain, please take the pain in typing what you can remember for others to learn and prepare well. Don't think they will do better than you. Remove that mentality. It's not a competition. My name is timojerry and I just want to make common sense lol.
I know I've done my best as to the questions. Prepare well before you start. I was sweating lol but I know God has taken control. I wish you all the best.

God bless @dyduds again if not I for no know wetin to expect

Good night.

C

Thanks man
This really helped.Helped me know what to expect. There's more to the last question though. There's also a graph. Has to do with pollutants generated from the new product and how to deal with it since a since a particular city relies on naturally occurring bacteria to degrade zinc waste(which is part of the ingredients in the deodorant) and an increase from the Dove men's +care would lead to more than can be handled by that city
Some calculation may have to be done during this
I don't know if it was same with the rest peeps or there were variations to the question

For the part of the game that has to do with numbers. Make sure u have a pen and a book or lots of papers. No matter how long the digits become try not to get it wrong.
Make sure you are not distracted. Keep your eyes fixed on your screen and write all the digits down.
That was what I did. I did not use my phone so I'm not sure how the guys that used theirs were able to ace it. But I think the using a computer for the game is better.

For the part that had to do with sharing money. I didn't share the extra I got equally with my partner. I gave him $0.5 less. When I was asked to rate how fair I was on a scale of 0 to 10, I picked 9. My result showed that I tend to be critical.

The part that had to do with cards, reading facial expressions and arrows, I'm not sure how I did those.

Truth is I wanted to practice before doing the main test but it turned turn I was taking my test without knowing. Just be calm and don't get distracted even when you think you aren't doing well.

There was one that had to do with tapping the space bar key. For each, you have an option to play the easy or hard one and your chance of winning is usually displayed on the screen. This was the trick I used, whenever the chance of winning was less than 50%, I played easy. When it was more than 50% I played hard.

I hope this helps.

All the best

The ones that have to do with risk taking; the cards, balloons etc) try and stick to a pack of cards/pumping a balloon a number of times when it gives you positive result. BUT don't stay there for long try other pack of cards or pump uo the balloons more times feom time to time.More like to check if there are other ways you can yield more increase/profit.
The firstt money game give about 2.5 and when asked to rate your giving performance give a 7 or 8 . When asked to rate theirs give 4 or 5(
For the percentage of winning games, follow belle's instructions

I have taken my test and got my feedback quite quickly-Negative
The feedback came in less than 2hrs after taking the interview.
There was a very detailed analysis about my performance.
I don't know if the mail was personalised though. I was encouraged to apply after 12mths and work on my skills. Personally I think I put in alot of effort and did well in some areas I was told I didn't do well enough. I would not lie I feel really bad about it cause I put in a whole lot of effort and went the extra mile in preparation (not just reading their page, but business analyses page, the UFLP graduate page, Quora, gbo gbo e).Asides that ,it's the only thing I have supplied for that's really related to my course of study... but it's all good. I would prep gradually-I believe in letting a company's values and related info become part of you, not just head knowledge, it makes the interview process easier and more natural(unfortunately, there's hardly ever time for that)-and keep my fingers crossed that there would be another opportunity like this in 12 mths...unless I have sth better
I am also wondering why my reply came in soo quickly caue I want to believe a lot of people that did theirs days back are still awaiting replies. Could it be I did something very undesirable? My network went off at a time though and I had to retake the first question.
But job search in Naija sha...if one is not careful ehn depression can just take over cry
oya enough with my rantings grin
Congrats to all those who scaled forward. Have a wonderful time in the rest of the assessments and give it your best
You stand the chance of taveling to other countries during the cause of the programme..btw pls keep us updated with the process

Get a phone with a bigger screen or a laptop. I used my tab at first(the smallr samsung tab) and it said my screen was too small. So I guess you'll need the regular big tab/ipad or a laptop/desktop to do the game.Personally I feel using a laptop/desktop is actually better because of the nature of the game.In my own opinion it might increase your chances of winning by a small percentage(note I said my own opinion). Good boy wink
so there is a distraction...or not there...try to find it "the wave of a hand...NOT DESTROYING"

mayoor15:

Hand-waving is an idiomatic metaphor, derived in part from the use of excessive gesticulation , perceived as unproductive, distracting or nervous, in communication or other effort. [citation needed] The term also evokes the
sleight-of-hand distraction techniques of stage magic , [2] and suggests that the speaker or writer seems to believe that if they, figuratively speaking, simply wave their hands, no one will notice or speak up about the holes in the reasoning. [2] This implication of misleading intent has been reinforced by the pop-culture influence of the Star Wars franchise, in which mystically powerful hand-waving is fictionally used for mind control, and some uses of the term in public discourse are explicit Star Wars references. [3]

What if from

The wave of a hand, never destroying Crinkle, crisp, clear – described

Please this question is directed at those who have written this test before or who have an idea of how it is held. Please if you pass the attitude test, will you be going to the next stage immediately or will you be asked to come back? I'm asking on behalf of those who are not Lagos-based.
From the account of a friend that took the test some time the year before last, the process is as follows:
Aptitude test after which you get your score(okay not numerical) to proceed or not to the next level.
Those that have been asked to proceed would immediately undergo the essay writing.
They would be reached at later date(can't really recall if the results come out immediately at this point but I highly doubt).
If successful you'll be reached and paired with a team of 7 persons and you guys would work on a business report.
It is after this that those to proceed to the final level (personal interview) would be chosen.

Disclaimer:The above process may have changed as the above occurred about 18months back + May be subject to one or two slight errors due to communication barrier between I and the individual who gave the account.
