Hope you’re settling in nicely.
I’m guessing you’re September intake.

Truth is most employers prefer having full time workers but that doesn’t mean students still don’t get gigs here and there.

I'm currently searching for jobs now, my contract with amazon ended in January. Funny enough, a company called me this afternoon regarding a job I applied for... but they couldn't give me because they needed full time workers. E no easy ... but u know that's how it is... so I'm emotionally prepared

UK work experience is not a prerequisite to land a job here in Scotland for a part-time work.

Glasgow is to Scotland what Lagos is to Nigeria. So you’ll have plenty of job options.

National Insurance (NiNo), ShareCode, and BRP are the basic documents employers demand irrespective of the job or location and you can’t get those without touching down here 1st.

But if you have an address you can start applying on ‘UK indeed’ so you hit the ground running on interviews as soon as you arrive.

Goodluck chief !

Ps: Apologies Tensazangetsu20 It is not my intention to derail your thread.

Hello bro... I was banned on my other account so I had to look for a way to log in with this account.

I've been in Scotland for 5 months plus and honestly, jobs plenty die, but as a student, it's not easy getting jobs. One has to keep on applying here and there.

Honestly when one will begin to enjoy this place is when you can now work full time.

Thanks a lot bro

Your name looks familiar like you're a programmer, wouldn't it be better to use your msc time for internships instead, so you can get a good IT job straight out of school assuming they retain you in one of those internships, instead of just working for money.

You can't get internships on a student visa here.

Chief,
I’m in Scotland, UK.
I’m using this location as a springboard to make major move in the nearest future. Came in via Tier 4 visa on a postgraduate course that I got 7k scholarship and £500 monthly upkeep (10months installment).

Scotland has everything England has except crowd and high cost of living. Affordable rent, cheap food, pocket friendly transportation cost, just name it.
I’m not saying it’s all rosy here but by Gods grace I have made some decisions that made things easy for me over here. From job to accommodation to friends . . .

The mistake most people make is thinking ‘japa’ is an immediate game changer lol.
For smart people it’s a long game to play just like planting. You till the ground and plant the seed, believe nature to provide good sunshine and rain, then get ready for harvest.

I’m sure you get what I’m driving at.

Congrats bro. I'll also be coming to Scotland this month for my MSC program. I got a number on Nairaland for a job over there ... But the person couldn't help me with one saying I don't have UK working experience.

Is there anyway you can assist with a job or referral at where u work?? I'll be doing my MSC at a Uni in Glasgow.
