Introduction

In the dynamic world of smartphones, none commands the spotlight quite like Apple's iPhone. With a legacy of iconic unveiling events and a vast user base, the anticipation for the iPhone 15 is reaching a crescendo. Here's a glimpse of what we know so far about this highly-awaited release:

A Tradition Unchanged

Apple is renowned for its commitment to tradition, favoring evolutionary over revolutionary changes. We expect more of the same this year with some minor twitches here and there Mark your calendars, for this September promises to be unforgettable as the iPhone 15 makes its grand entrance on the 12th of September.

Four Models to Choose From

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the iPhone 15 series is set to offer four distinct models. After the introduction of the "Mini" models in the iPhone 12 and 13 series and the departure of the Mini in the iPhone 14 series, Apple continues its trend. This lineup is rumored to include the standard iPhone 15, the larger iPhone 15 Plus, the feature-packed iPhone 15 Pro, and the formidable flagship, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or possibly the iPhone 15 Ultra).

Farewell to Lightning, Welcome USB-C?

The European Union's push for standardized USB-C ports has finally reached Apple, with a mandate set for 2024. However, industry insiders suggest that Apple might embrace USB-C sooner, potentially with the iPhone 15. This shift promises significant benefits for content creators, as it will enhance wired file-sharing capabilities. Given that Apple's iPad and MacBook already rely on USB-C, this change seems both logical and long overdue.

Speed, Efficiency, and Performance

Apple's approach to battery life improvement differs from its competitors. Instead of increasing battery capacity, Apple prioritizes efficiency and optimization. The iPhone 15 is poised to take this further with the introduction of the A17 bionic SoC (processor), built on TSMC's cutting-edge 3nm process. This advancement will result in superior power management and efficiency, setting a new benchmark in performance, optimization, and battery management.

Camera Revolution

In the world of smartphone photography and videography, the iPhone 14 Pro Max held sway in 2022 and early 2023. However, the iPhone 15 is set to reclaim the throne, if rumors and leaks hold true. With a new periscope sensor and substantial camera optimizations, the iPhone 15 promises to shine in the AI-driven age, offering an unparalleled user experience.

Other Exciting Features

Apple's innovative spirit extends beyond the core functionalities. The Dynamic Island, introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, is expected to undergo enhancements, delivering even more immersive experiences. Moreover, the iPhone 15 is rumored to feature a screen with a remarkable 2000nits brightness, setting new standards in visual quality. Brace yourselves for a device that will push boundaries and redefine excellence.

Conclusion

As we eagerly await the arrival of the iPhone 15, it's clear that Apple is poised to deliver yet another groundbreaking device. With a potential shift to USB-C, impressive performance gains, a camera poised to reclaim its throne, and a host of other exciting features, the iPhone 15 promises to be a game-changer in the world of smartphones.

Phones / 8 Things You Didn’t  Know Your Iphone Can Do by LordScummander: 11:58pm On Aug 24, 2023
The iPhone is one of the commonest phones in the world. The iPhone has over 80% of the smartphone market share in the United States alone. With each new model, Apple introduces innovative features that often go unnoticed. In this blog post, we will uncover five hidden capabilities of your iPhone that you might not have known about.

Measure Anything with Your iPhone.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed to measure something quickly, but you didn’t have a physical tape measure on hand? Well, your iPhone can come to the rescue! Introduced in iOS 12, the Measure app uses augmented reality (AR) technology to measure objects using your phone’s camera. Simply open the Measure app, point your iPhone at the object you want to measure, tap the starting point, and then drag the endpoint to your desired location. Your iPhone will provide an accurate measurement, making it a handy tool for DIY projects or even just measuring furniture to see if it fits in your space.
Hidden Magnifying Glass
For those moments when you need a magnifying glass to read the fine print, your iPhone can step in as a makeshift one. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier and enable it. Now, you can triple-click the side button (or home button on older models) to activate the magnifier. Use your camera to zoom in on small text, objects, or anything that requires a closer look. It’s a feature that can be a lifesaver when you forget your reading glasses.

Emergency SOS

Your iPhone can also double as a personal safety device. In an emergency, press the side button (or home button on older models) five times quickly, and your iPhone will call emergency services in your region. It will also send a message with your location to your emergency contacts, making it a valuable tool in critical situations.

Quick Camera Access from the Lock Screen

Have you ever missed a perfect photo opportunity because you couldn’t unlock your iPhone quickly enough? You can access the camera from the lock screen without unlocking your device. Swipe left on the lock screen, and your camera app will instantly open. This feature ensures that you never miss capturing those memorable moments.

Hidden Level Tool

Your iPhone’s built-in Compass app has a hidden feature that acts as a spirit or bubble level. Open the Compass app and swipe left to reveal the level tool. This tool can help you hang pictures straight, ensure your bookshelves are level, or assist with any task that requires precise levelling.

Custom Vibrations

You may already know that you can customize ringtones, but can you also create custom vibrations for specific contacts? Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone > Vibration and choose “Create New Vibration.” You can tap out your own pattern and then assign it to a contact in your Contacts app. This way, you can identify who’s calling or texting you without looking at your phone.

Scan Documents and Sign PDFs

With iOS’s built-in Notes app, you can easily scan documents using your iPhone’s camera. Open a note, tap the camera icon, and select “Scan Documents.” Your iPhone will automatically detect the document’s edges and create a digital scan. Additionally, you can sign PDFs directly on your iPhone using the Markup feature. When you open a PDF in the Mail app or another app that supports it, tap the markup icon (which looks like a pen tip) to add your signature or annotations.

Voice Unlocking

Did you know you can unlock your iPhone using just your voice? This feature, known as “Voice Control,” allows you to control your device using spoken commands, including unlocking it. To enable Voice Control, go to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control and turn it on. You must set up a voice profile by following the on-screen instructions. Once Voice Control is set up, you can wake your iPhone by saying, “Hey Siri,” and then issue commands like “Open Messages” or “Unlock the phone.” Remember that Voice Control is highly secure and requires a unique voice print to work, ensuring that only your voice can unlock your iPhone. This feature is convenient and can be a great accessibility tool for individuals with mobility challenges who may have difficulty using physical buttons or touch gestures.

How many of these features are you familiar with? Did we miss out on anything? Tell us in the comment section

Phones / Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra In 2023: Is It Still Worth It? by LordScummander: 4:03am On Aug 24, 2023
Many observers have argued that the Smartphone industry appears to have plateaued. Beyond the foldables (which remain a niche segment), there seems to be no innovation, with many smartphone makers offering little to no remarkable upgrades. With a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra released in 2020 still holding its own three years later, there might be some truth in that assertion. The Samsung S20 Ultra is now available for a fraction of its original price, and if you are in the market for a phone that does it all, here are 5 reasons why the Samsung S20 Ultra might be the phone for you.

First Impression: A Stunning Display

One of the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is its massive 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. This screen delivers a vibrant visual experience that’s perfect for consuming content of all kinds, from videos to games and more. The colours are rich and accurate, and the contrast is simply stunning. Plus, with a 120Hz refresh rate, the user experience is incredibly smooth, making scrolling and transitions feel effortless.

Performance: Exynos 990 vs. Snapdragon 865

The performance of your smartphone is crucial, especially if you’re a heavy user. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is powered by either the Exynos 990 or the Snapdragon 865 processor, depending on your region. While both processors are powerful, the Snapdragon variant tends to outshine its Exynos counterpart, particularly in demanding tasks and power. So, if you’re all about speed and efficiency, you might want to consider the Snapdragon version.
Camera Capabilities: 108MP Excellence

For photography enthusiasts, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a treat. It boasts a camera setup with a whopping 108MP primary sensor, which is quite impressive, even when compared to newer models. This sensor captures sharp, detailed photos that can rival many dedicated cameras. The S20 Ultra debuted Samsung’s class-leading 100X Zoom capabilities.
This is the camera your friends will want to use to capture pictures and videos at events.
Battery Life: All-Day Power

The S20 Ultra houses a massive 5000mAh battery that easily delivers over 7 hours of usage on a single charge. This means you can use your phone throughout the day without worrying about finding a power source. Whether you’re browsing, streaming, or gaming, this phone has the stamina to keep up. The 45w charging capability also ensures you can top up quickly.

Price Point: Affordable Luxury

Now, let’s talk about the price. At just 280,000 naira, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra offers an excellent value proposition. You’re getting a top-tier phone with a fantastic display, solid performance, and a versatile camera, all at a relatively affordable price compared to some of its competitors.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is a premium smartphone worth considering. It offers a stunning display, powerful performance, exceptional camera capabilities, long battery life, and all of this at a reasonable price. If you’re looking for a device that can keep up with your daily needs and more, the S20 Ultra might be the perfect fit.

Phones / 5 Reasons Why You Should Get An Apple Watch by LordScummander: 5:18pm On Aug 19, 2023
Since its launch in 2015, no Apple product has divided opinions as much as the Apple Watch. With the Apple Watch, there is hardly a middle ground; you either love the Watch or despise them. Some people consider them a waste of money and needless, while others consider them a necessity, especially for fitness enthusiasts. Make we no lie sha, dem cost small o but that’s where Oga Bassey comes in. HERE ARE THE TOP 5 REASONS YOU NEED AN APPLE MATCH:

You have an iPhone

See, ehn, it’s a no-brainer; if you have an iPhone and you are in the market for a smartwatch that allows you to get the best out of your smartphone while also offering seamless integration, there is only one option- ONE option, the Apple Watch. From making and receiving calls directly from your Watch, Siri on the go, checking notifications from your phone and other cool tricks, the Apple Watch can be the Robin to your iPhone’s Batman. The possibilities are endless. Abeg, please, don’t buy those cheap imitations (fake, copy, replicas or whatever the sellers call them); you will lose out on the seamless integration between your phone and even your MacBook. To save yourself from that, visit here to get a genuine and affordable Apple Watch and join the 1% too.

You are a Fitness Enthusiast

Apple calls it “the ultimate device for a healthy life”, and we kinda agree. The dedicated Activity App on the Apple Watch is remarkable. Among other things, The Apple Watch can help you monitor and record your workout exercises and routines. Are you a cycler? Is the treadmill your gig? Are you a runner? Whatever rocks your fitness boat, the device has got you. It also has challenges you can set up to compete with your friends. A device that is committed to keeping you fit and shielding you from the ills of a sedentary lifestyle. What is not to like, Brethren?

You Care about Your Health

Even if the fitness monitoring software baked into the Apple Watch is not your cup of tea (Shout Out to Team Fit Fam or is it Farm?), you care about your health. You want to know if you have cardiovascular concerns, if you have been sitting for too long, and sometimes a reminder that you need to REST can be very helpful. You can also use the Watch to check other things like your blood pressure, blood oxygen level and heartbeat rate. The Apple Watch should be your best friend. The device was designed with your health and wellness in mind.

You are invested in the Apple Ecosystem

Apple’s ecosystem is one of the most extensive. Apple has its fingers in the Internet of Things (IoT) pie. From the Homepod to smart switches, doorbells, and the big ones like the MacBook and the iPhones. The integration is fantastic; you can use your Apple Watch to unlock your MacBook and perform other cool tasks.

You Are one of the Cool Kids

The Apple Watch is a fashion statement for many people, and it’s easy to see why. The modular design (especially the straps) and the somewhat unique squarish face of the Watch make them popular among the cool kids. We have all met that person who coordinates their Apple straps with their outfit. A functional device that contributes to the drip? Yes, please!

Good write up,it's what I am using,I really don't like iphone before now it's simply the best phone through out the world follow by Samsung...consider the age of when they produce iphone xs max and still working if it's android it's will pack off

Thank you chief. Your experience is very similar to most people who switched over from Android. They used to go from hating the iPhone to literally becoming Apple fanboy. Personally, I think the Xs Max is one of Apple's best designs of all time.
Phones / Rediscovering Excellence: The Iphone XS Max Is It Worth It In 2023? by LordScummander: 12:34pm On Aug 19, 2023
Introduction

One of the most head-scratching moments in the history of Apple releases occurred between 2018 and 2019, following the release of the iPhone XS Max (in 2018) and the iPhone 11 (in 2019). Till today, despite what the specs sheet says, many are convinced that the iPhone XS Max is the better phone of the two, and it is very difficult to argue. Yes, the iPhone 11 has the better processor, the A13 Bionic smokes the A12 Bionic in the iPhone XS Max. However, the gorgeous 6.5-inch OLED display on the iPhone XS Max leaves the 6.1 LCD on the 11 in the dust (and in 2023, that display remains a head-turner), while the lenses powering the iPhone 11 camera system are theoretically better than the XS Max, the consensus among phone users is that the XS Max produces the better pictures. Apple has a lot of questions to answer.

In 2023, the iPhone XS Max is an easy recommendation for Apple lovers who are in the market for a phone with a budget of ₦250,000. This vintage gem offers a balance of power, elegance, and functionality that can still hold its ground in today’s smartphone landscape. Here are some of the reasons the XS Max is an easy budget recommendation for us:
The Super Retina OLED Display

At its launch, the iPhone XS Max brought a groundbreaking 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED display to the table. Even now, its display quality remains impressive. This larger-than-life screen was a game-changer in media consumption, delivering vibrant colors and stunning contrasts that made every visual experience a feast for the eyes. The nostalgia surrounding this feature is a testament to the innovation it brought to its time. Make no mistake, this is a phone that attracts attention.

A True Performer with A12 Bionic Chip

Powered by Apple’s A12 Bionic chip, the iPhone XS Max delivers a seamless performance that can easily tackle your day-to-day tasks. Despite the years since its release, this device continues to offer smooth multitasking, responsive app launches, and reliable performance that doesn’t falter. For users looking for an iPhone that keeps up with their needs, the XS Max delivers in spades.

Photography and Videography Excellence

The iPhone XS Max’s dual 12MP camera setup captures stunning photos and videos that still hold their own in today’s visual-centric world. The combination of wide and telephoto snappers helps the device take breathtaking portraits and detailed landscapes; the device’s camera capabilities are nothing short of remarkable. It can even record videos in 4K resolution at up to 60 frames per second, ensuring you can capture life’s moments with the clarity and detail they deserve.

Battery Life and Storage

Despite its age, the iPhone XS Max provides decent battery life, allowing you to stay connected and productive throughout the day. With a budget of 250,000 Naira, you can acquire the 256GB storage variant of the iPhone XS Max. However, when considering a purchase, check the Battery Health, ensuring it’s above 85% for optimal performance and longevity.
A Vintage Masterpiece That Holds Its Relevance

While the iPhone XS Max might not be Apple’s latest and greatest offering, it remains relevant as a vintage masterpiece. It might not claim the top spot in the hierarchy of today’s higher-performing iPhones, but it leaves an indelible mark with its impressive features and capabilities.

In the quest for a high-quality iPhone that fits comfortably within a budget of 250,000 Naira, the iPhone XS Max emerges as an exceptional choice. Its Super Retina OLED display, powerful A12 Bionic chip, exceptional camera capabilities, and satisfactory battery life make it a solid contender even in today’s fast-paced smartphone landscape. So, if you’re looking to join the 1% of iPhone users without compromising on quality, the iPhone XS Max is a vintage gem that still holds its shine.

Phones / 5 Bad Habits That Damage Your Phone’s Battery by LordScummander: 7:02pm On Aug 14, 2023
Your battery is the fuel that powers your phone; saying you have a good phone when your battery is poor is like saying you have a Bentley with an empty tank; beyond pictures for the gram, your Bentley is as useless as the ‘p’ in psychology. But the average phone [s]user comes from the tribe of the Coconatti (where the inhabitants have coconut heads)[/s] is guilty of phone abuse. Everybody knows that allowing your phone battery to run out completely before charging it will affect your battery health in the long run. However, there are other seemingly harmless things that will kill your battery faster than you can say, mogbe! Here are some of the commonest ones:

Placing Your Smartphone Under the Pillow

Yeah, we get it! While charging your phone and chatting with the Love of Your Life, you slept off, with your phone ending up under your pillow. We have been there too. When this happens, it’s not uncommon to wake up with a blazing hot phone that has lost most of its battery juice. Sister Deborah, hope sey your money long? Not only can you damage your phone patapata, but you can also end up burning the house. Your phone needs air almost as much as you do. Think Safety!

Using Your Phone While Charging it

Remember what we said about heat and lithium batteries? Yep! The heat generated while charging and using your phone is worse. Uncle Lanre, Scoreboard Leader, don’t play Call of Duty while charging; your battery will spoil o. intensive tasks like playing games, recording and editing a video generate significant heat. When you do any of these tasks while charging, your phone gets dangerously hot; if you continue to do that, well, it is not in our mouths that you will hear that your battery has an actual shelf life.

Charging your Phone with your case on

Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Your phone uses lithium batteries. Lithium batteries hate heat; nothing degrades your battery faster than heat. ***clears throat****Charging your phone generates a lot of heat (How many times have we mentioned heat?); naturally, most phones, at least the flagship, have a very good heat dissipation mechanism where the majority of the heat leaves the phone via the phone body. But Olori Pablo, leaving your Rabbit Channel custom-made case on your phone will not allow the heat to leave your phone seamlessly. Eventually, your phone will shut down after a few hours

Using a Cheap Charger or Plugging into an Unsupported Power Source

It is not everywhere you see a USB source that you chook your phone. Some sources are not optimised for your phone. Similarly, not every charger is compatible with your phone; each phone has its power requirement and charging technology, and using an incompatible or substandard charger will ruin your phone. Modern smartphone chargers have built-in chips that regulate your phone’s power supply. How can you use an itel charger to charge your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra? Have you no fear? If you need a compatible charger for your phone, Oga Bassey offers standard and OEM-approved accessories at affordable prices; you can get yours here. Abeg, use only approved chargers to avoid stories that touch.

Those Battery Apps

iPhone users might not be able to relate, but the Google Play Store for Android phones has many apps that promise to help you improve your battery-na scam! Make I no lie give you; those apps do more harm than good. The background processes hog resources and, in turn, consume batteries.

Which one of these crimes against the battery are you guilty of? Tell us in the comment section.
