I don't even know where these tribal arguments started and what led to it but I just want to say that unless they have direct evidence via contacts behind the scenes or can show proof that they themselves are involved in the audition process, anybody creating spurious narratives about housemate selection being predicated on tribal affiliation is utterly stupid and doesn't deserve to be included in any intelligent discussion devoid of sentiments and factless presuppositions. One cannot describe the level of delusion and disgusting idiocy it takes to casually assume from the comfort of your dirty couch that you can possess absolute knowledge of what goes on in the minds of the organizers during the casting process when you're not even remotely involved in production. Some of you trying to imply that there is some form of tribal favoritism in the selection of housemates might simply be projecting your own bias, prejudice, hatefulness and anti-social tendencies on to others without even realizing it. Let's stick to what we know please. We KNOW that a significant portion of the viewing public has found this season to be severely underwhelming. We've explored possible reasons including poor casting decisions as well as laziness and lack of creativity on the part of the organizers. That's a far as we know as viewers. Asserting that nepotism is a contributing factor is a huge leap that will require extra information not easily accessible to the average fans and if you're not privy to the details, I don't see how you can come to such conclusions so flippantly. It's one thing to speculate, and it's another thing to take your speculation as a complete truth. Stop suffering people with these painfully obtuse ethnic based analyses that has absolutely nothing to do with the narrative or concept of the show itself. 3 Likes |

N3TRAL: I don't agree with most of the claims you've made here (especially the ones with tribal distinctions), but I agree with the general sentiment expressed in your post that the viewers choice of who to support is often based on superficial preferences and not necessarily personality or talent, which mostly explains why "gameplay" or "strategy" is useless in BBN. As much as I enjoy the Big Brother concept as a whole, there's a lot of things I never liked about our version of BB since I started watching it as a hardcore fan back in 2019, and I never paid much attention to it because realistically there weren't any good alternatives for me in terms of Nigerian reality TV, but this season has amplified those flaws to the point I can't ignore them anymore. I'm probably done watching the show after this season. Maybe it's the way production handled it this year, but the show format and general vibe doesn't appeal to me anymore. 3 Likes |

rainluv: I don't disagree with his preference. I'm only saying that such a game is not practically relevant to win the show. Who is Neo and vee again?π LoL, you say this like the housemates just decided to save them out of the blue. Did you forget how nominations went that week? Neo was literally arguing to Ozo and Dora against the idea of nominating Vee. Same happened with Vee, Trikytee and Laycon. Vee fought hard against their suggestions of nominating Neo. They protected each other at the expense of the other four. I remember Trikytee wanted to nominate Neo and I remember Vee fought hard to subdue this thought. So no, the housemates didn't just save them. You have to understand the context in which they were saved. Neo and Vee manipulated the house into saving them. Gameplay determines your fanbase Actually this is not true, and anyone who believes this as an absolute fact doesn't understand how BBNaija is really played. If at all there is any gameplay from the housemates, it is mostly done before the show even starts (paying influencers and all that jazz). And that's not even gameplay, it's called pre-gaming, and a good argument could even be made that it's cheating. But once the show actually begins, the game is strictly in the hands of the fans, and it is them who decides who goes far into the game and who doesn't. And let's be honest, the average BBNaija fan doesn't care about gameplay or strategy. They're more sentimental in their choices, looking out for looks or people who seem like drama magnets. That's why we often have bandwagons early in the show for housemates who realistically don't have any special skills or advantages over other housemates. 1 Like |

rainluv: Khosi literally won because she received the highest number of votes. That's it. Don't get me wrong, she and Thabang played arguably the best social game in BBTitans and I loved them for it, but without the fanbase, her gameplay wouldn't have accomplished anything for her. Neo and Vee managed to keep each other safe while manipulating Ozo, Dorathy, Laycon and Trikytee into sacrificing themselves to go on the block at the semi finals of the Lockdown season. They basically carried themselves to the finals and yet they ended up with less than 5% in total votes collectively. So I think it's safe to say that while the puppet master gameplay is entertaining (more entertaining than shipping and toxic personal beefs), it's practically redundant on this version of Big Brother. 1 Like |

MasterSteps: Exactly. The scheming and manipulation type of game is more effective in a show where the players have to use their wits and skills to carry themselves to the end (e.g. Survivor, the challenge etc). But in BBNaija, playing the puppetmaster or mastermind might sometimes actually be the fastest way to getting yourself evicted LoL. |

MamBi: For crying out loud, thank you! Let these guys feel the pressure. They're too freaking comfortable. In it's most ideal setting, the Big Brother house is supposed test your patience, your resilience, your strategic thinking etc. That's why in most foreign versions we get a lot of housemates who decide to check out by themselves because they can't cope with the stress. 2 Likes |
