Business / Re: ATM in Nigeria by losky(m): 4:54pm On May 25, 2006
the "out of order" issue is even a normal thing, Most times (especially weekends),when u really need cash.
Last december i had a nasty experience in lagos, i tried getting money out of an atm machine somewhere on the island,my account was debited, but the money never came out of the machine.it took more than one month for my account to be credited back, and on two seprate occasions,i was made to write a letter of complaint to my bank!

Politics / Re: CBN Bill Bans Spraying Of Naira Notes by losky(m): 1:07pm On May 04, 2006
Bolex, how can u say "naija will always be naija, nothing can change it"
thats a terrible thing to say cos i think we all should do all we can to change naija, and let go of that "naija-will-always-be-naija" attitude.
yes we're all guilty of abusing the naira, but whats wrong with making an attempt to stop it?
Politics / Re: CBN Bill Bans Spraying Of Naira Notes by losky(m): 12:24pm On May 04, 2006
i think this bill makes A WHOLE LOT  of sense,
its now a"ritual" in every wedding ceremony!the reception program must have "bridal dance" and the guests MUST come out and spray.u even find some people selling clean naira notes at such ceremonies!!
cmmon guys, this helps to put an end to all these forms of abuse,
yes, there are other things in the country to be addressed, but dont u think this is one of them

so alj, what'd u think of the authenticity of the whole story?

i would really like to know ur own views
i cant stop wondering about the whole experience,if it really happened.
Literature / Has Anyone Read Yann Martel's "life Of Pi"? by losky(m): 3:02pm On Mar 21, 2006
this is an awesome book,a must-read!
its kinda controversial, cos its supposedly based on a true story, the experiences of a sixteen year old indian boy called Pi who is the sole human survivor after the ship in which him and his zoo-keeping family (migrating from india to canada) sinks, and  is on a life boat for 227 days in the middle of the pacific ocean, with a hyaena, a zebra, an orangutan and - beat this - a 450 pound bengal tiger which was finally his only surviving companion!!

another interesting thing about this story is Pi's conversion from hinduism to christianity then to islam, and trying to practise all three together!
we also learn about animal behaviour,as his parents owned a zoo in india.this adds to his survival tactics while on the life boat.

Pi is a creature of faith (or faiths,as the case may be),who sees eternally renewed wonder in God and in his creation.

when he finally gets aground, his story is seriously doubted,so he gives  another version of his survival, which many people believe is the true one, while the other is a figment of his (crazy??) imagination.

the book is really captivating.I read it in almost 5 hours, it depicts a whole lot and will leave you pondering long after you're through,
theres a whole lot to talk about concerning life of pi,so i keep wondering,

Has anyone read Yann Martel's life of Pi?!!!!!!!!
Literature / Re: James Hadley Chase Novels: Share Your Experience by losky(m): 1:11pm On Mar 17, 2006
his books triggered the reading habit for me.i remember my very first - the way the cooky crumbles.
but somewhere along the line,i kinda noticed that they all have a particular pattern (my personal opinion) and that became kinda boring.
