We would like to host a surprise birthday dinner party for our father for 50-100 people in April. We seek an experienced and expert event planner to assist us in planning the event?

What are terms? What venues do you recommend in VI, Ikoyi or Lagos Island?

The event should be elegant, sophisticated and intimate.

Thank you

The Range Rover on this page:

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-84426.1024.html

got me thinking of car protective covering.

Any one has ideas on how to get this or better car covering and the costs?

Thank youl

Thanks again, Kunle.

Quite a lot I didn't know. You are quite informed. I have to say Naija, sha!! Especially the part about the "inspector not being around for a few weeks".

I saw a picture here on Nairaland, where a SUV was completely wrapped in some kind of protective covering. Do you know what that is? I would like to get it to protect the vehicle. Seems to be a good idea to prevent schrathce, dents, etc,

OK, it seems I'll take the gamble of Roro VIP.  I'm tempted to ship via container as this might expedite the shipping date, but the downside here is increased shipping and clearing costs.

I don't quite understand why the same car costs more to clear in Lagos if shipped by container as opposed to RoRo.  The value of the car is the same whether shipped RoRo or container so why do agents always quote more for containerized vehicles??!!!

Many Thanks, Kunle!  All the best to you

Thanks, Kunle, very much!

Thanks also for the referral to Adexfem.

Can you recommend to me a reliable shipping agent.

Ro-Ro VIP , neer heard o fit. How does it work? What does it get you?

Thanks so much!

Autos / Re: Shipping From Ny To Cotonou Or Lagos Via Acl Grimaldi by lovehateNG: 6:41am On Feb 27, 2012
Thanks Kunle.

Yes I am worrying and over analyzing, na becuase I dey fear.  The car is a heavy investment, so i can't afford any problems.

Your idea about trucking the car to Baltimore is a good one.    You are right NY is the busiest terminal, so yes Customs can take time there.

Are you recommending Roro over Container?  I know container costs more, but if it can help me ge the car there quicker and safer it might be worth it?

What say you?

Lastly, any reputable clearing agents you recommend.

Thanks again!
Autos / Shipping From Ny To Cotonou Or Lagos Via Acl Grimaldi by lovehateNG: 5:25am On Feb 27, 2012
Hello All!

I will like to ship a vehicle to Nigeria from NY within the next week or two and need some counsel and assistance.

1. I understand that ACL/Grimaldi has the safest terminal in Lagos and is the most organised for fast clearing. However, I also understand they constantly experience backlogs in shipping. As a result, a vehicle delivered to the port may not leave NY for 2-3 months or more if shipped by RoRo and maybe even a month if containerized. What do people advise given this? What are alternatives? My aim is to get the car to Nigeria as soon as possible so I cannot afford these delays.

2. Cotonou vs. Lagos: It seems that Cotonou is significantly cheaper for shipping and also for clearing. So I am considering shipping it to Cotonou instead of Lagos. I have to ask given the price differential for both shipping and clearing why are many others not shipping and clearing in Cotonou, then driving the car to Lagos. Am I missing something? Is there a negative to the Cotonou option that I have overlooked?

3. Equivalent of ACL/Grimaldi in Cotonou: Does ACL/Grimaldi have their own terminal in Cotonou? Is it as safe as their terminal in Lagos? If shipping to Cotonou should one use ACL or another shipping line, and if another line - what line should be used

4. Any other direct to West Africa options? I prefer a direct shipping line for speed and to avoid delays/risks associated with transshipment in Europe.

5. I understand RoRo is safe for Nigeria if shipped via ACL but not to TinCan? Is RoRo safe to Cotonou and if so to what terminal in Cotonou/via what line??

What do the Nairaland auto experts advise in connection with the above?

Thanks so much!
Romance / Re: Just When I Wanted To Propose by lovehateNG: 1:49pm On Jun 29, 2010
I’ve been lurking on nairaland for over 5 years , maybe more, but I had to finally register an account today to respond to Mr. Blackwood.

Mr. Blackwood, I wish I could see you and draw your ear and pound your head well well!

Please LISTEN to me like  a brother – well well!.

Your first mistake is meeting that girl today as you plan.

Women are too sly, too cunning , too smart.

No one knows exactly what she was doing in Lagos. She is the only one that knows.  She has now ha d sufficient time (not that girls even need sufficient time) to create a fine tale for you.  The simple truth is:
(1) for a close boyfriend & girlfriend – her coming to Lagos without informing you is a NO-NO
(2) to respond to you rudely is also is a NO-NO.

So whether or not your first instincts are right i.e, that she was/is two-timing on you (something I am 98% certain is what actually is going on); the two points above are more than enough justification to end the relationship.
As my mother always tells me.  Every woman has the blood of Eve running through her veins.  Women are notorious for having plan B’s and plan C’s.  This woman is not for you.  I have so much to say, but not enough time.

I am very very concerned for you… I feel like most men (myself included) when love don shack our brain we no dey fit reason again.

So I’ll tell you something,

You are clearly a praying man,  God answered you and blessed you with a FANTAStIC job by any standard.

You know what, God also blessed you and revealed to you – that this lady in UI is NOT FOR YOU.  God worked it out such that your surprise visit occurred on the day she was on her own offshore job probably with another client.  DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT ignore this signal grace from God.  Do not ignore this blessing from God. God has shown you the way.

God has  done a new thing for you in your career and He will do a new thing for you in your love life. Trust him and move on.

I go dey pray for you, because I fear very strongly, that this woman will deceive you and tomorrow you will FOOLISHLY – VERY FOOLISHLY marry her!

May God give you wisdom & strength.

P.s.  I don’t care about the N180K ring. Yes it was a hasty action., but better to lose 180K than to be tormented during a lifetime of an unhappy marriage with a potential gold digger and unfaithful spouse. Consider the NGN180K  as your insurance penalty.

BRODA SHINE YOUR EYE!  RUN FORM THIS GIRL!  DELETE ALL HER NUMBERS!  RUN O! RUN O! I DON WARN YOU.  I don get small experience with these babes. I DON WARN YOU!  I am so concerned about you – a complete stranger, that I had to open a new account .  please heed my warnings.

P.P.S  If this story is fiction and you've wasted my precious time responding to you, then may God JUDGE YOU MIGHTILY!!
