Education / College Scholarships For First Generation Students by lroyalartistmg: 6:22am On Dec 02, 2019
Here is one of the best article for you to read on College scholarships for first generation students.

Are You the First in Your Family to Attend College?
General financial aid is a starting point for most college students, but to cover the costs of higher education, students turn to specialized grants and scholarships that are only available to certain members of the student body.

Some grants and scholarships carry a mission, to distribute aid in a way that benefits targeted students. Minority scholarships that require applicants to exhibit certain ethnic heritage, or women-only financial aid are examples of student assistance that addresses the educational needs of particular student groups.

Access to higher education is an important measure of progress, so families that are sending their first members to college are given special consideration in the form of First in Family Scholarships. If you are your family’s first college student, this aid provides a leg-up towards increased educational mobility.

The scholarships are funded by public and private dollars, and administered according to the individual standards of each award. Students who qualify for first in family scholarships will be subject to a variety of performance and need-based requirements. First in family scholarships commonly require minimum GPAs that are above average, as well as financial need related to college.

Corporate Scholarship Programs
The Sallie Mae Fund in partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, puts forth the Sallie Mae First in Family Scholarship. This diversity scholarship elevates hispanic access to education, subject to applicants meeting a combination of performance and need-based criteria. In addition to being the first member of your family to pursue a four-year college degree, eligibility for this scholarship requires:

Hispanic cultural ancestry
Financial need
U.S. Citizenship
Full-time enrollment
Undergraduate degree program
Approved institution
GPA of at least 3.0

Education / How To Get Jobs In Usa For Foreigners by lroyalartistmg: 7:52am On Dec 01, 2019
How to get jobs in usa for foreigners

Here are the steps and guide on How to get jobs in usa for foreigners the Step by Step Guide to Getting Your Job in the USA.

Five years ago, I set a challenge for myself to get professional experience in the USA for one or maybe even several years.

After some research, I realized that I couldn't work in the USA without a work visa. To get this work visa, I needed to get a job. Thus, I needed to be sponsored for a work visa.

The first thing to do for anyone looking to enter the US is to find a job. Then, you will need to find a sponsor for your visa. Once that is done, you will be good to go and can move to the US.

This guide will tell you how to get a job in the USA that will deliver a visa sponsorship fitting your situation, profile, citizenship desires, and expectations.

So, let's see how you can get a job in the USA!

Since so many people are looking for a job in the USA, the rules have become more strict regarding who can enter and why.

After my own experience, I have seen hundreds of my followers who face four major difficulties:

ALSO :Postgraduate scholarship in nigeria: Apply for Postgraduate scholarship in nigeria 2019/2020

Finding a job in the US isn't so easy-peasy, is it?

In any of those four cases above, you are going to get nowhere! Actually, 90% of failures in getting a job in the USA as a foreigner come from one mistake. And if you encountered the difficulties above, you might be making this mistake: applying without targeting.

Even before thinking about building your American resume and applying to jobs opening in the USA, you have to target the right open jobs and companies for you.

But targeting jobs in your field is not enough! You need to understand that up to 5% of companies in the US may sponsor you for a work visa. It may be even fewer, depending on your situation, profile, as well as the job opportunities you can get with it.

So, first, let's dive into what you want, and then what you will get depending on your situation, profile, and expectations. This is the foundation of your American project.

Based on this, you will then be able to build your application, target the right companies, and approach them effectively.

But before going any further, I want to tell you something...

What You Want Might Not Be What You'll Get

You might not want to read what I have to say next. It might offend or challenge your expectations.

Landing in the USA with a work visa does not mean you will get rich or stay in the States for life.

What we are going to see is the reality of the US market as it is today. You might not like it, and unfortunately, if your profile and expectations don't match this market, it's not going to happen. Sorry to disappoint you.

Maybe it will be easy, and maybe it will be impossible. It all depends on what you want and expect. Just be prepared to adjust your expectations.

If you don't want to accept the reality and adjust your expectations, you have only your own decisions to fall back on. The choice is ultimately yours. You must remember that it's your life. My choice was to live in the USA, and I now live an amazing life there. It's not because I'm lucky; it's because I reviewed my expectations and accepted the reality. That's it.

If you are not ready for such a big step, it's time to seriously think that you may misunderstand exactly what the American Dream is. And the United States might not be for you, after all. The choice is yours!

The way things are, you need to fit the mold, or you are out.

As unfortunate as this fact is, you need to understand it before going any further. I don't want to waste your time. So, if you continue reading this post, I assume that you understand the implications of this process.

Now, let me explain how to get a job in the USA!

The mini importation business is one easy way to get you out of your financial troubles. It’s a very profitable way to make money online and offline in Nigeria as an undergraduate irrespective of the institution you find yourself in.

The main idea is to import goods that catch students eyes or attention, it doesn’t make your sex, both male and female can go into this business as far you have something that people likes and want to buy
You can import the following items and they will thrive well in any Nigerian campus:

Modems and card readers.
Flash and memory card.
Solar chargers.
Sandals and shoes.
Clothes and underwear and lots more

Important Note-
There is no joy like making money legally,as you have no cockroach under your bed,you can move freely anyhow you want without fear.Never forget your major purpose in school, which is to get a degree. In whatever you do ,do it well and legal.Making Money legally is time consuming that’s just the not so happy story, but still be calm, friends as what you discover in university can take you places even after your university education.
For example the founder of host sleek technologies one of Nigeria’s top web hosting companies founded host sleek as an undergraduate now the business is booming. In his first year he didn’t make money but consistency and hard-work paid off later.Same thing about the founder of 9jaflaver.com Mr Ejump we read his story on this forum yesterday too.
What you do in universities, polytechnics or other tertiary institutions has a long way of taking places in Life.

iPhone 11 Pro Max review: Turning everything up to max
“Easily full-day battery life? Check. Class-leading cameras? Check. This is the iPhone to splurge on.”

Class-leading cameras
Stellar battery life with fast charging
Bright display
Slick iOS 13 software with consistent updates
High-quality build
Camera design is a miss
No USB-C

Iphone 11 pro max review: The New Iphone 11 pro max review
There’s nearly nothing wrong with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The screen is excellent, games run lag-free, and the triple-camera system is versatile and effective, but what I’ve been most impressed by is its battery life. I’ve had to force myself to use the phone even more than normal to hit 30 percent before midnight.

This isn’t just the best iPhone ever — it’s the best smartphone you can buy. Period.

Want the best price on the iPhone 11 Pro Max? Check out our favorite Black Friday iPhone 11 Pro Max deals.

Matte magic
The iPhone 11 Pro Max is slightly taller and wider than its predecessor, but what you’ll notice the most is how it is 18 grams heavier. I quickly got used to it, but the added weight does make this already-expensive phone feel even more luxurious. This is still a large phone, given its 6.5-inch screen size, and it does require two hands to reach the top of the screen.

It remains one of the few phones made of stainless steel, and it feels just as high-end as that sentence felt to write. It’s more durable than the aluminum you’ll find on most smartphones (including the iPhone 11). The back and front are wrapped in “durable” glass, but what’s new here is the matte texture on the back. It’s fantastic. It doesn’t attract ugly fingerprints, so I’m not wasting half my day wiping it clean, plus I prefer matte aesthetics over the glossy kind. Apple’s not the first company to explore this type of texture; Google did it last year with the Pixel 3.

The new midnight green color is a nice change of pace from the usual gold, silver, and space grey, though I’m a sucker for the more colorful options found on the more affordable iPhone 11 (lookin’ at you, purple).

Iphone 11 pro max review: The New Iphone 11 pro max review
While we’re on the back of the iPhone, let’s talk about the camera design. It’s not great, though it is growing on me. The holes are so huge that they stand out a little too much, as though Apple really wants you to show everyone that you have an iPhone 11 Pro Max — not an iPhone 11 or an iPhone XS. The lenses are raised and have a metal bezel around them, but then the square camera module around them itself is also raised. The raised glass is sharp and angular; it’s not a pleasant feeling running your finger on the back and hitting the camera module.

It doesn’t attract ugly fingerprints, so I’m not wasting half my day wiping it clean.

I don’t think the camera design is ugly, but I also think Apple could have done better. One thing to note, the camera module does collect a bit of dust around the rings (as you can see in the picture above), so this area does require a bit of cleaning now and then.

The front is another area where Apple could do bettr. The 6.5-inch screen is wrapped with bezels that appear slim when looking at the iPhone individually, but put it next to phones like the Galaxy Note 10 Plus or the OnePlus 7 Pro, and you’ll see a difference. Apple hasn’t slimmed these bezels down since the iPhone X, which was two years ago, whereas Samsung has been introducing a more svelte look every year. Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s screen still looks modern and beautiful, but thinning out the edges a little more would have been nice.

I’m not going to complain too much about the notch, because it houses the tech necessary for Face ID, which remains the best biometric authentication technology available on a phone. It’s fast to unlock, works in any lighting conditions, and I’ll take it over an in-display fingerprint sensor any day.

Big-screen fun
The 6.5-inch size might be a bit unwieldy in the hand, but who cares about that when you have such a vast screen for watching videos and movies? I love the big OLED screen and the extra real estate it offers, especially when playing games.

Iphone 11 pro max review: The New Iphone 11 pro max review
Apple said it’s using a Super Retina XDR screen, which delivers impressive brightness, incredibly accurate colors, and a sharp 2,688 x 1,242 resolution. I’ve had zero trouble watching shows with a lot of dark scenes, like The Spy on Netflix, in bright sunlight — it helps that the brightness can go all the way up to 1,200 nits in HDR scenes (800 nits is typical brightness).

Education / How To Find Student Loan Account Number by lroyalartistmg: 8:26pm On Nov 23, 2019
Here are the good steps on How to find student loan account number

How do I find out information about my student loans?

You can find information about your student loans, including your balance, through the National Student Loan Data System for federal loans, or through your student loan servicer for private loans.

Federal Student Loans

The definitive source for information on your federal student loans is the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).  NSLDS is the U.S. Department of Education's central database for student aid. NSLDS receives data from schools, the federal loan programs, and other U.S. Department of Education programs. NSLDS also provides a centralized, integrated view of your federal student loans and grants so you can access and inquire about them.

Private Student Loans

To find out information on your private student loans, you’ll need to contact each of your private student loan servicers to determine your total loan balance or check your credit report.

Unlike federal student loans, there is not a single website that contains information about all of your private student loans. Your private student loans will not be listed in NSLDS because the system shows only your federal student loans, not your private student loans.

If you do not know about private student loans you might have, request a free credit report at annualcreditreport.com.  Private student lenders may report your loans to credit reporting agencies even while you’re still in school or in deferment.

Celebrities / World Star Rapper Eminem by lroyalartistmg: 7:34pm On Nov 23, 2019
World Star Rapper Eminem

Complete write up of World best and famous rapper Eminem
‘MMLP2’

Eminem released his eighth album, MMLP2 , on November 5, 2013. The announcement for the future Grammy-winning album, formally titled The Marshall Mathers LP 2 , was made during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

On the awards show, Eminem leaked a snippet of the first single from his album, entitled “Berzerk.” He went to reach of the top of charts with “The Monster,” a track that also featured Rihanna and earned a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

In 2014, Eminem celebrated the 15th anniversary of his Shady Records label with a special two-CD set called ShadyXV . The collection features the label’s most popular songs as well as some new material. The new single “Guts Over Fear” quickly rose up the charts after its late October debut.

Slim Shady

A year later, however, Eminem released The Slim Shady EP , which was discovered by Dr . Dre , the legendary rapper and former producer of Eminem’s favorite rap group N.W.A.

After Eminem traveled to Los Angeles and became runner-up in the 1997 Rap Olympics MC Battle, Dre listened to the rapper’s cassette in the basement of executive Jimmy Iovine’s home. Dre was so impressed that he signed Eminem to his Interscope Records label. In 1999, after two years of working with Dre, Eminem released The Slim Shady LP .

The heavily hyped record became an instant success and went on to sell over three million copies. Eminem’s first single, “My Name Is,” mixed a childish humor and energy with rampant profanity and flashes of violence—a potent and fascinating combination that felt different from anything else in rap. Marshall and Kim Mathers married later that same year.

‘The Eminem Show’

A year later, Eminem released a new solo album,

The Eminem Show , another popular and critically acclaimed album highlighted by the tracks “Without Me,” “Cleaning Out my Closet” and “Sing for the Moment.”

His next album, 2004’s Encore , was less successful than his previous efforts, but still featured popular songs such as “Like Toy Soldiers” and “Mockingbird.”

Rehab, ‘Relapse’ and ‘Recovery’

For the next several years, Eminem recorded very little music and was largely consumed by personal problems. Eminem and Kim Mathers divorced in 2000 but continued to maintain a tumultuous off-and-on relationship until remarrying in 2006.

Nevertheless, they divorced again several months later and began a protracted, ugly and highly public custody dispute over their daughter Hailie. Meanwhile, Eminem slipped further into alcoholism and addiction to sleeping pills and prescription painkillers. In December 2007, he overdosed and nearly died. “If I would have got to the hospital two hours later, that would have been it,” he said.

By early 2008, Eminem had managed to kick his addictions to drugs and alcohol and returned to recording music. He released his first album of new music in five years, Relapse , in 2009, featuring the singles “Crack a Bottle” and “Beautiful.”

In 2010, Eminem released another album,

Recovery , a highly autobiographical attempt to come to terms with his struggles with addiction and experience with rehabilitation. His most acclaimed album in years, Recovery struck a somewhat gentler and more inspirational tone than his previous music.

Eminem said, “I don’t want to go overboard with it but I do feel like that if I can help people that have been through a similar situation, then, you know, why not?” The revealing album won Eminem a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

Eminem is doubtlessly one of the most acclaimed rappers in the genre’s brief history. As much as any other individual artist, he is responsible for rap’s transformation into a mainstream music genre over the past decade. And after 10 years and seven albums, the rapper who shocked, appalled and fascinated the music world with the unbridled rage of his youthful music is reinventing himself as a mature artist.

“I started learning how to not be so angry about things, learning how to count my f—ing blessings instead. By doing that, I’ve become a happier person, instead of all this self-loathing I was doing for a while,” Eminem said. “The music, I wouldn’t say it’s gotten happier, but it’s definitely more upbeat. I feel like myself again.”

Eminem and Trump

In October 2017, Eminem made headlines for a freestyle segment taped for the BET Hip Hop Awards, in which he ripped into President Donald Trump.

Two months later, he released his ninth studio album, Revival . Its first two singles, “Walk on Water” and “River,” featured collaborations with pop superstars Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran , but the album as a whole divided critics and failed to garner the accolades notched by his previous efforts.

‘Kamikaze’

While four years passed between Eminem’s eighth and ninth albums, fans only had to wait a few months before he dropped his next studio effort,

Kamikaze , on August 31, 2018. The surprise album kicked off with “Ringer,” which featured the rapper diving right back into his disdain for President Trump.

Marshall Mathers

Eminem released his second studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP, in May 2000. The album showed off Eminem’s poetic talents as well as his emotional and artistic range. His songs vary from manically funny (“The Real Slim Shady”) to heartbreakingly poignant (“Stan”) to explosively violent (“Kim”) to disarmingly self-critical (“The Way I Am”).

The Marshall Mathers LP sold over 19 million copies worldwide, won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, received a nomination for Album of the Year and is widely considered among the greatest rap albums of all time.

Nevertheless, The Marshall Mathers LP also came under a firestorm of criticism for its excessive profanity, glorification of drugs and violence and its apparent homophobia and misogyny.

While Eminem attempted to mitigate such criticism by maintaining that his raps simply use the rough language he has been surrounded by since childhood, and later by performing a duet with

Elton John at the Grammy Awards to demonstrate his openness to the gay community, Eminem nevertheless remains reviled in some quarters for his offensive lyrical content.

In 2001, Eminem reconnected with several of his friends from the Detroit underground rap scene to form the group D12, recording an album called

Devil’s Night featuring the popular single “Purple Pills.”

Education / Student Loan Balance: How To Check Student Loan Balance by lroyalartistmg: 2:59pm On Nov 22, 2019
Here are the tips on how to Find Your Student Loan Balance.

With the typical graduate having up to 12 different federal and private student loans, it can be difficult to keep track of them all. But finding out exactly how much you owe is essential for managing — and paying off — your debt

Find out how much you owe in student loans

When you took out your student loans, you agreed to borrow a set amount and to repay it with interest. Your interest rate can cause your loan balance to grow over time, so you could end up owing thousands more than you originally borrowed.

To make things even more confusing, your loans can sometimes change hands. Some lenders will sell your loans or transfer them to other loan servicers, so who you originally had as a loan servicer may no longer be the right one. Your loan servicer is who you make payments to and go to for questions, so it’s important to figure out who your current servicer is to repay your debt.

So if you know you have student loans, but aren’t sure who your loan servicer is or how much your balance is, here’s what you need to know about finding both federal and private student loan balances.

Hispanic scholarship fund: hispanic scholarship fund For 2019/2020

How to find your federal student loan balance

If you have federal student loans, there are a couple of different ways to track down your balance.

1. Use the National Student Loan Data System

To find your current federal student loan balance, you can use the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), a database run by the Department of Education.

When you enroll into a college or university, the school’s administration will send your loan information to the NSLDS. The database also pulls information from loan servicers and government agencies, so it’s a comprehensive outline of all federal student aid you’ve received.

To find your federal student loan balance on NSLDS:

Create an account with a Federal Student Aid ID and sign in
Check the list of all of the federal student loans under your name, including the original amount, current balance, interest rate, payment status, and loan servicer
Visit your loan servicer’s website to create an account, make payments online, and ask any questions you may have

While the NSLDS is useful, there are some limitations:

Not always up to date: Information on the NSLDS can be as much as 120 days old, so it may not be the most up to date view of your loans.
Not all loans are listed: The NSLDS only contains information about Title-IV eligible loans and grants, so if you took out other federal loans — such as loans for medical or nursing school programs — they won’t show up on the NSLDS. Private student loans also won’t be listed.
2. Contact your school’s financial aid office

If you have federal loans that don’t show up on the NSLDS, another option is to contact your school’s financial aid office. The staff there can look up your past loan information, including what you originally borrowed and who the loan servicer was. With that information, you can contact the servicer to get your current loan balance.

Hispanic scholarship fund: hispanic scholarship fund For 2019/2020

How to find your private student loan balance

Because the NSLDS is only for federal loans, your private student loans won’t show up in the database. If you refinanced any federal loans, those won’t show up either because once you refinance your student loans, they become private loans.

To find any private student loan balances (or check who your lender is):

Get your credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion — at AnnualCreditReport.com (you can do this once a year for free)
Check your credit report to see a list all of your current obligations, including student loans. It will list how much you borrowed and who the loan servicer is.
Contact the loan servicer to start making payments or start the student loan refinancing process

Managing your student loans

While it may sound complex, learning how to answer “How much do I have in student loans?” is an important first step in managing your debt. Once you know how much you owe and who your loan servicers are, you can come up with a repayment plan that works for you.

If you want to pay off your debt as quickly as possible so you can save money, check out these strategies that can help you pay off your student loans faster.

Education / How To Win Scholarship by lroyalartistmg: 8:13am On Nov 17, 2019
how to win scholarship

Here are the top 10 tips on how to win scholarship both within the country and Globally.

1. Create an accomplishments resume.

This summarizes the student’s awards, interests, activities and accomplishments. It can help the student write a better application and teachers write better letters of recommendation.

2. Don’t miss deadlines.

Half the scholarships have deadlines in the fall and half have deadlines in the spring, so start searching for scholarships ASAP. There are also many scholarships available to students in elementary and secondary school, not just high school seniors, and some scholarships that require the applicant to already be enrolled in college.

3. Complete the scholarship matching profile thoroughly.

Many of the questions trigger the inclusion of specific scholarships.

4. Apply to as many scholarships as possible.

Winning a scholarship depends as much on luck as on skill. Increase your chances of winning by applying for as many as possible. (But don’t apply if you aren’t eligible.) Smaller scholarships and essay contests are easier to win because they are less popular. Reuse essays to save time, customizing them for each new application. Answer the essay question out loud and transcribe a recording of the answer to avoid writer’s block. Proofread the essay carefully before submitting the application.

5. Look for scholarship listing books.

They can be found in the jobs and careers section of the library or the campus Career Center. When using scholarship listing books, check the copyright date. If it is more than a year or two old, it is going to have too much old information.

6. Find local scholarships on bulletin boards.

Look near the high school guidance counselor’s office, outside the college financial aid office and campus academic departments and in the local public library.

7. Tap into family connections.

Students should also check with their parents’ employers, clubs, unions and fraternal organizations.

8. Read the paper.

Check out the coupon section of the newspaper for local and national corporate-sponsored scholarships.

9. Maintain a professional online presence.

Some scholarship providers now require finalists to friend them on Facebook. Also, use a professional email address to make a good first impression.

10. Dress to win.

If selected for an in-person or video interview, dress as if you would be a proud recipient of the award.

Education / How To Paying Off Student Loan(complete Guide) by lroyalartistmg: 5:03am On Nov 16, 2019
How to paying off student loan(Complete Guide)

Here are the best Guide on How to paying off student loan within stipulated time.

If you borrowed money to pay for school, your first question might be how best to pay off your student loans. The short answer is that there's no magic bullet, but there are definitely things you can do to make paying back education debt easier.

Student loan debt reached an all-time high of 1.41 trillion in 2019 so you're not alone. A growing segment of the economy is devoted to helping Americans figure out how to pay off student debt, and there's a lot to learn Start by reading this overview to understand the basics. Then learn about and consider various options, such as loan consolidation, loan deferment or forbearance and think about how you will work paying student loans into other financial goals, such as saving for a down payment on a home. There are even plans that allow for loan forgivenenss (see #8, below).

Now, review these nine tips to help you get a handle on your student loans—and even pay them off faster.

1. Know What You Owe

The first step in repaying student debt is knowing what you owe. If you haven't done this yet, take time to figure out:

How much you owe, in total, on all your loans.
Which student loan servicers you owe money to and how much for each loan.
Which of your loans are federal and which are private.
The minimum monthly payment for each loan.
The interest rate for each loan.

Once you've done this part, you can move on to the next step, which is choosing a repayment plan.

2. Evaluate Student Loan Repayment Options

How you repay your loans depends on three things: the type of loans you owe, how much you can afford to pay, and your money goals.

"Financial goals are different for everyone," says Joe DePaulo, CEO and co-founder of College Ave Student Loans."Some may want a longer repayment plan that allows more flexibility in their monthly budget, while others may opt for a repayment plan that allows them to pay off their student loans as quickly as possible."

There is a range of student loan repayment options to consider. If you need flexibility and you owe federal student loans, then you might look at an income-driven repayment plan. There are several choices that calculate your monthly payment based on your income and household size and allow you more time to repay your loans than you'd get on a standard 10-year repayment plan.

On the other hand, if you want to repay your loans as quickly as possible, you might want to stick with a repayment plan that has the shortest term. The trade-off is that you'll have a higher monthly payment. The best way to evaluate loan repayment options is to use a loan repayment calculator, such as the one offered by the Department of Education.

3. Use the Grace Period to Your Advantage

The grace period is the time frame in which you aren't required to make payments on your loans. With federal student loans, the grace period typically lasts for the first six months after you leave school. Whether you have a grace period and how long it lasts with private student loans depends on the lender. With private loans and unsubsidized federal loans, keep in mind that interest is still charged during your grace period and will be "capitalized"—added to the total amount you owe—after the grace period ends.

One way to make the grace period work for you is to make advance payments against your loans. Paying down some of the principal means less interest that accrues later. At the very least, try to make interest-only monthly payments in the grace period to cut down on what you owe.

4. Consider Consolidating or Refinancing Student Loans

Consolidating and refinancing offer two ways to streamline student loan repayment. With debt consolidation, (or student loan consolidation) you combine multiple loans together at an interest rate that reflects the average rate paid across all your loans. This can be done with federal student loans to merge multiple loans (and monthly loan payments) into one.

Refinancing is a little different. You're taking out a new loan to pay off the old loans, so you still end up with one monthly payment. But if that new loan has a lower interest rate compared to the average rate you were paying across the old loans, you could also save some money—provided you don't extend the term. One thing to note about refinancing private student loans is that you'll need good credit to qualify, which may necessitate bringing a cosigner on-board.

Be very careful to avoid student loan scams, which are particularly prevalent if you try to refinance your loans or investigate loan forgiveness.

5. Pay Your Loans Automatically

Scheduling your loan payments to be deducted from your checking account automatically each month means you don't have to worry about late payments, which could hurt your credit score. You could also score some interest rate savings if your lender offers a rate discount for using autopay—federal loan servicers and many private lenders do. The discount may only be a quarter of a percentage point, but that can make a difference in how quickly you pay off the loans over time.

6. Pay Extra and Be Consistent

One thing that can slow down your student loan payoff is paying only the minimum due. Joshua Hastings, founder of personal finance blog Money Life Wax, was able to pay off $180,000 in student loans over a three-year period by taking a focused approach, which included paying extra on his loans every month.

If you're able to pay extra, you may want to target one loan at a time while paying the minimum on everything else. The question is, do you use the debt snowball method or the debt avalanche?

"When deciding which student loan to pay off first, it's best to go with the one that can free up cash flow quickly. That way you can have more money to throw at the next loan," Hastings says. "As you grow your cash flow, it's a good idea to transition to the high-interest loans."

7. Apply 'Found Money' to Loan Balances

Using found money—meaning money that isn't budgeted for as part of your monthly income—is another way to gain traction with student loan repayment. Found money includes:

Tax refunds
Rebates
Annual salary bonuses
Income earned from a side job
Cash gifts you receive for birthdays or holidays

You can apply these amounts to your loan principal to take out a chunk of your debt in one go. Other opportunities to use found money to pay down loans quickly include inheriting money from relatives or receiving a settlement as part of a lawsuit.

8. Look Into Forgiveness and Reimbursement Programs

Public Service Loan Forgiveness is designed to offer student debt relief for students who pursue careers in public service. You make a set number of payments while working in a public service job and the remainder is forgiven. If you don't qualify for loan forgiveness, you may be able to get help with your student loans through your employer. Talk to your HR department about whether student loan reimbursement is available as an employee benefit and what you need to do to qualify.

Another method you can try with paying off student loans is switching from monthly to biweekly payments. Similar to making biweekly payments on a mortgage, this tactic results in your making one extra loan payment per year. You'll need to talk to your loan servicer to find out whether automatic biweekly payments are an option, but if not, you may be able to make additional principal payments at any time through your online account access. The upside of making extra biweekly payments yourself, versus automatically, is that you can make the payments when it fits your budget and skip them if there's a month when you don't have the extra cash.

The Bottom Line

Tackling your student loans proactively is key to paying them off sooner rather than later. There are plenty of ways to manage your debt more effectively, but the worst thing you can do is nothing.

"If you find you're having difficulty affording your federal or private student loan payments, don't ignore the problem or assume there are no options," DePaulo says. "Reach out to your loan servicers to discuss your situation and try to create a plan to get back on track."
