Politics / Re: How Nzeogwu Shot Mum. Nzeogwu Was A Murdering Physcopath . by luckysay(m): 12:37am On Feb 22, 2016
It is very good for today's young Nigerians to be educated onthese issues. We don't really know this country we call ours so much. You can just imagine a young military officer of the age range of 30, about 6 years after independence discovered that this country is on its way to doom and decided as a military man to right the wrong. 50 something years after, how far have we gone? We are still faced with the same or worst issues of then. Those we call heroes in Nigeria are not heroes but were self centred individuals ready to turn the country around as they liked to their benefit. Let's stop celebrating the Balewas, Awolowos, Ahmadu Bellos, Tafawa Balewas etc and look into what will lead young people to take such brutal actions.

The worst illitrate is he who thinks he knows and refuse to learn and he don't know anything in reality. He will remain ignorant and die as one.
I wish to us this medium to challenge my fellow Urhobo brothers, let us go into intellectual debate on the issue of Isoko and Urhobo relationship. Thank God we are in a technology age where informations are not far fetched.
It will remain a shame if these people still continue with this misinformation without going back to reseach and correct their wrongs. I will see it as lack of knowledge and understanding. If they are sincere, let them go and study their own written urhobo history and Isoko history. They will be better informed. They are all online. Google and see.
Thank you.

For the sake of correcting all this misinformation by some people who did not have facts before rushing to inform the public wrongly. Isoko is not part of Urhobo and it cannot be a dialet of Urhobo. Rather, Urhobo should be called a Dialet of Isoko. Isokos are seniors to Urhobos in talking about time of arrival and migration. Apart from Olomo an Isoko town that migrated from Olomu an Urhobo town, no other Isoko town migrated from Urhobo. But Okpe people of Urhobo migrated from Okpe-Isoko (check Okpe Urhobo history). Effurun in Urhobo land is said to migrate frm Erowha in Isoko, Kokori (ukoko Irri) in Urhobo land migrated from Irri in Isoko land, this to mention a few. Erowha in Isoko land (translated in Bini as "far from home"wink is an ancient town. All the clans in Urhobo and Isoko confirmed that they met Erowha in its present lacation wen they arrived.
With the above stated, what makes Isoko to be an Urhobo dialet? The people of Isoko were never called Urhobo until when for administrative purposes under the Western region then, Awolowo grouped Isoko and some part of Urhobo as Western Urhobo Division from the colonial masters Warri division. Otobo and other Isokos fought and Isoko LGA was later created.
Please stop mis informing people about your superiority message of Isoko as a sub group of Urhobo.
Thank you.

Please for the purpose of history and setting records right for the future. I wish to advise all my Urhobo brothers to be more intellectually sound. They should always get their facts before commenting. Am not insulting anyone at this time but I feel I have the right to defend who I am. Isoko which is my tribe is not an Urhobo language. Isoko is Isoko and if I may say, it is even more proper to say Urhobo is a sub-language of Isoko. Erhowa in Isoko is the oldest clan in the Isoko and Urhobo region. All other clans (isoko/Urhobo) came to meet them there. I don't know where this my Urhobo brothers got the impression that Isoko language is a part of Urhobo language and they broke off. There have been no time in history when Isoko was ruled under Urhobo or what ever.
Isokos are senior to Urhobos in terms of when they arrived. We have always been independent from the Urhobos or any other tribe right from time. The only time we were called Urhobo and Isoko fought agaist it is when the colonial masters grouped Isoko under the Eastern Urhobo division for administrative purposes. We were all under the Warri division before this development.
Please desist from mis-informing people.

Culture / Re: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by luckysay(m): 5:36pm On Feb 11, 2016
Am just so surprised that most of the Urhobo brothers that post here lacks basic knowledge of their facts before they rush to type half baked informations and argues blindly. Am sorry to say.
Starting from the last. Some Isoko and Urhobo's decents from Igboland is a research work done by a prominent educational icon in Nigeria. To just argue his work blindly online with insult shows lack of intellectual civilization on the part of the Urhobo man.
Again, Isoko is different form Urhobo for your dull head to hear. Look are what you posted as Isoko and Urhobo words being same with yoruba and Igbo;
(1) Biko - isokos don't use biko as please but ole or ivieee
(2) Obara - obara is not blood in Isoko language. Blood is called aze
(3) Oba - Isokos don't use oba as a king but Ovie
(4) Osusu - osusu is not also an isoko word.
(5) Olori - olori in Isoko language does not mean hesd as in authority but Lord. This is similar though.
(6) Akpere - I don't know of any Isoko word called Akpere.
(7) Jesu - is not a Nigeria name. It is a jewish name Jesus corrupted the work over in the various listerners intonation.
It will please you to know that isoko is very rich in words and hardly borrows. Though there may be interrelationship

There are a lots of Isoko movies presently. There is even this Jesus movie transcribe in Isoko. As in jesus and all the actors speaking Isoko. You can get Isoko movies in Oleh, around Nyaga Market junction and also in Ozoro.
They are also available in some stores in Warri and Ughelli.
There is a film academy in Ozoro wish awards diplomas. Government owned and approved.
We really need to publicise and advertise Isoko.

I am Warri Eriarie Victor. I say thank you to whoever started this forum. I am an Isoko man from both parents. I am privileged to be born by a father that had love of teaching Isoko. Late Evang. Isaac Warri. The first man to open an institute of Isoko language and culture in Isoko land of Oleh. He wrote many books on the learning and reading of Isoko language. For those of you who wish to learn the language, we have them so many in stock. I wish to place them on net to enable easy access. We have films in Isoko. The language have been greatly improved over the years. Isoko bible was the 12th bible translated into local language in Nigeria.
There are history books of Isoko. A popular one by Prof. Obaro Ikime titled; "the isoko people of nigeria" is available for those with interest of isoko history.
I want to correct someone in this forum who said Igbide is from Igbo land. No. The people of Igbide left Benin city on a sujourn in Igbo land, they later left there with some Igbos associate and some Igbo servants and slave to their present Igbide in Isoko land. Please try to confirm this fact very well.
Apart from Erhowa, a clan in Isoko that is believed to have been in their present location as long as time, all other Isoko and Urhobo clans are directly or indirectly decents from Benin. Erowha have a dialet different from all other Isoko language and only understood by themselves and speak Isoko as a second language.
Isoko is a great nation. The Niger Delta christian styled dance and songs are originated from Isoko by a great man of God called Adam Igbudu. You can search him on net. Their are a lots of prominent Isokos in delta state. The first legislative representative in Delta state during the Western Region, Otobo is from Isoko. The first professor of history in Delta state, prof Obaro Ikime is from Isoko. The first indigenous catholic bishop of Warri diocese is an Isoko man. The first Deltan to attempt contesting Presidency in Nigeria, Ubeku, is Isoko, to mention a few.
Be proud to be an isokian. That's where the Holy Bible decended from heaven in Araya Isoko South LGA. Check the facts online.
For more info on Isoko, check on Aziakpono Institute of Isoko Language and Culture. Oleh.

The yoruba story of Oduduwa is so funny, stupid and meaningless to me. Am always so surprised how a modern day learned person still believes all those folktales and still hold on to it with passion as if it makes them a better people. I feel we should be more intellectually advanced than those tales by moon light of oduduwa falling from heaven with a snail etc etc

macof:

Thank you for the history of urhobos stated above. I just want to correct some things as I know it. Bovi the comedioan is not Urhobo but Isoko man, Sam Okposo also is Isoko not Urhobo. Again, in all Isoko and urhobo towns, Erhowa is d aborigins. They all meet erowha in its present place and seek for a place to abode which erhowa gave to them. Many urhobo towns migrated from Isoko like the Okpes, kokoris, effurun etc while olomoro in isoko migrated from olomu in urhobo land. Interrelationship between the two people started right from origin. Urhobo can't be the 5th largest tribe in Nigeria. We hav the Ggagyis, Nupes Tivs etc cutting across states and in large populations in the north. Please check your facts properly. Thanks
.
If you wanna know about Oduduwa pleas go through the appropriate chanel - Initiation
