From experience, its preferable to buy a brand new steering rack. After replacing mine (2000 4runner), four times (with tokunboh) and kitting (rebuilding) twice within the last 14 months all to no avail. I eventually bought a brand new steering rack for just 50K and hoping this lasts. I had to consult with Oga Gazzuz on the matter when I felt I was being shortchanged by the mechanics due to the rapidity of failure of the tokunboh parts. He made me realise that as the replacement parts are quite old themselves, as such it is difficult to ascertain the degree of wear.

Areas around observatory are quite expensive. From your poster I guess you will most likely be studying at UCT. All the same, I will drop a link here for you, you can use it to secure accommodation. Just bear in mind that its going to cost you lots more than we pay back home in Nigeria. Concentrate on Mowbray areas, its a stone throw from Observatory, and Nigerians are quite a few there as well. I stay in Belhar which is about 20 - 30 mins from Observatory. Good luck

Sure there are, check in the train station terminal in Cape Town(by the stairs leading out to the main road, where renovations are on), and along Vortrekker road in Bellville (almost opposite Wimpy). There you will find Nigerian restaurants, I cannot remember the name now. As for Nigeria food items, you will get inside the train station terminal as well, while on the stretch leading to the restaurant. You can also check in Goodwood close to a pizza shop. Good luck.

This is to notify all who own this sweet SUV of the challenges they MAY encounter, considering that my wifey drives same, and has just faced this problem. * certainly there exists manufacturer's defects in the transmission/ECU of the ride, even though it has not warrantied a recall by Toyota as the problem rears its ugly head after a long while, mostly after ride is around the >80k mile mark .

* Replacement/ repair costs is well over >200K (naira), in fact, its between USD3000 - 5000.

Advise: If your this is your dream car, maybe you get a manual shift, or let it remain a dream .

plz dont discontinue this wonderful service. Speaking from my personal experience, I give kudos to all of you rendering this FREE service, especially Jenju, as he was the one who attended to me. I was so impressed and informed with the kind of info you get from a carfax, as it helped me from making purchases based on looks and marketing "raps" of dealer, and I can now even enlighten dealers who are not nairalanders on VIN and its importance. Its amazing that there are dealers out there who know next to nothing about VIN, and would even tell you it doesnt exist, until you show them the location (thnx to Nairaland for guiding us to that as well).

I must say that I am surprised, albeit disappointed that you have refused to post the VIN of this SUV to me, after numerous emails and calls, vehicle inspection nko. I had to resort to posting this on nairaland to avoid your coming up with excuses aboout the VIN.

I guess putting my hope into picking up this ride from you was a mistake, just pained that the time, money and energy spent on negotiating this ride with you could have been directed to another.

I use a P990i as well, bought a 2Gb memory card from Ikeja when i came home for the xmas , and trust our people, it was fake, got it returned to seller.  Would suggest you purchase from a reputable seller (with warranttee), and you may as well indulge yourself into buying a Jabra BT 620s stereo bluetooth headset for your phone, thats what i use, and i must confess its terrific (got it here though).

Its quite refreshing to see the outpouring of emotions/feelings people have about their fathers. It goes to show that fathers are still doing something right in the lives of their kids.
