Respected business magazine, Forbes, has released a list of its top 10 African richest musicians. Acts like, Akon, Jidenna, Wizkid, Tinashe, Davido, Don Jazzy and Sarkodie, made the list. Forbes Africa list was put together using factors such as endorsement, popularity, show rates, sales, awards, YouTube views, appearance in newspapers, investment, social media presence, etc. Below is the list of the artistes that made it; 1. AKON Akon has over 35 million albums sold worldwide. He has won numerous awards including five Grammy Award nominations and has 45 Billboard Hot 100 songs under his belt. He tops the list according to Forbes Africa. 2. BLACK COFFEE, SOUTH AFRICA The multi-award-winning artist’s real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo. He was born in South Africa’s house music province, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and raised in the Eastern Cape province, where Nelson Mandela hailed from, before moving back to KZN to study music. 3. HUGH MASEKELA, SOUTH AFRICA Hugh was born in Witbank, east of Johannesburg. He has released more than 43 albums and performed with Marvin Gaye, Dizzy Gillespie, The Byrds, Fela Kuti, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Miriam Makeba. 4. DON JAZZY, NIGERIA Don Jazzy is ranked fourth richest in Africa and also first in Nigeria. Like many artists, his real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, and he started playing music as a child in church before moving to the UK to pursue his career. 5. TINASHE, ZIMBABWE-AMERICAN Tinashe was a child model by the age of three. The twenty-four-year-old sang before she could talk and made her first appearance in 2000 in the film Cora Unashamed. Her voice also starred in the cartoon feature film The Polar Express alongside Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks. 6. JIDENNA, NIGERIAN-AMERICAN By the age of 10, Jidenna Theodore Mobisson knew he wanted to do music but was afraid to tell his father who wanted him to be an engineer. He is ranked sixth according to Forbes Africa. 7. WIZKID, NIGERIA Wizkid is arguably currently the uncrowned king of African music. Grammy Award-winning artist, Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz, danced to his songs Ojuelegba and Caro, with Keys posting a video on her Instagram account with the caption, “This song makes me happy”. Kylie Jenner also posted a video of herself dancing to Wizkid’s music on Snapchat. 8. DAVIDO, NIGERIA Davido has claimed a high status in just five years. He said it was people like P-Square and D’Banj who made him believe this was possible. He became famous for his widely acclaimed 2012 debut album “Omo Baba Olowo”. 9. SARKODIE, GHANA Michael Owusu Addo started out as an underground rapper and through the help of Duncan Williams, his former manager, his career was launched. Staying true to his identity, he is a big advocate of Azonto, a Ghanaian genre that is said to have been born out of Kpanlogo, a traditional dance. His first single off his fourth album, Mewu, sold almost 4,000 copies on the first day of its release in Ghana. He was also the first Ghanaian to win a BET award. 10. OLIVER MTUKUDZI, ZIMBABWE Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi has 65 albums under his belt, more than the legendary Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. 34-year-old man, Oluwaseyi Adefin, has
reportedly obtained N850,000 from a woman,
ostensibly to help her obtain a Schengen
visa.
A Schengen visa costs €60 per adult person,
€35 per persons age 6-12 years of age, while
children under six years are issued the visa
free of charge.
In Naira cost, according to the http://
www.italy-ng.com/tourist_visa.html the
highest amount payable for a Schengen visa
is N19,500.
The highest fee payable by those going for
long-term stay is N37,700.
However, Adefin allegedly defrauded the
woman of N850,000 on pretext of securing a
Schengen visa for her, and has appeared in a
Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagostoday
(Wednesday).
Adefin, whose address was not provided, is
facing a two-count charge of stealing and
obtaining money under false pretences.
The accused committed the offences
sometime in August 2016 at No. 24, Adisa
Bashau St., Off Adelabu, Surulere, at about
1.00 p.m., Police Prosecutor Christopher
Okoliko told the court.
He said the accused obtained N850,000 from
the complainant, Fibiana Ikechion, with a
promise to get a Schengen visa for her.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the
Schengen 26-member-states include Austria,
Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy and
Spain.
Okoliko said the accused failed to procure the
visa for the complainant or refund the money.
The offences contravened sections 285(1) and
321 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
(Revised).
NAN also reports that Section 285 (1)
stipulates three years for stealing, while
Section 321 provides two years for obtaining
by false pretences.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to
the charge.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused,
the Chief Magistrate, Mr. A.A. Paul, granted
him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two
sureties in like sum.
Paul said one of the sureties must be
gainfully employed, while the other surety
should be a landed property owner in Lagos
State.
In addition, the sureties should provide
evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State
Government.
The case was adjourned until May 31 for
mention.

Residents of Owheologbo community, Isoko North area of Delta State, were Sunday night, thrown into confusion as one person was reportedly killed and six houses, including a secondary school building, were razed following a row over a girlfriend. Though details of the incident were sketchy at press time, community sources said the deceased, simply identified as Mr. Dennis, was killed at about 9:30p.m. in his mother’s residence. It was learned that angry youths on getting wind of the incident, mobilised and set fire to houses, cars and other properties of members of the family of those who participated in the killing. A source said the assailants had fled the community to avoid lynching by the mob. Council boss reacts Speaking on the development, Chairman, Isoko North local government area, Emmanuel Egbabor, confirmed that the incident was related to issues concerning a woman. He said: “When I was called, I alerted the police and soldiers, who immediately moved into the community.” While disclosing that security agents had taken the corpse away from the roadside to a mortuary, he said: “The Army and police have helped to restore peace in the community. I have advised them to carry out proper investigation into the incident.” Contacted, Delta Police PRO, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, saying “I have heard so too. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are demanding £1.3million in damages from those responsible for taking and selling photographs of Kate topless on holiday in France. Their French barrister, Jean Veil, made the request for the huge sum of money in compensation on the first day of a criminal trial in the Paris suburb of Nanterre – where six defendants are on trial. Mr Veil told the town’s Correctional Court that both William and Kate had suffered massively from repercussions following the use of the sneaky long-focus lens pictures. He said they deserved damages and compensation amounting to 1.5million Euros (£1.3million) – in addition to ‘significant fines’ dished out to the guilty parties. In the written declaration read by Mr Jean Veil, William said: ‘In September 2012, my wife and I thought that we could go to France for a few days in a secluded villa owned by a member of my family, and thus enjoy our privacy. ‘We know France and the French and we know that they are, in principle, respectful of private life, including that of their guests. ‘The clandestine way in which these photographs were taken was particularly shocking to us as it breached our privacy.’ William added that the images were ‘all the more painful’ given that his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, was regularly stalked by paparazzi before her death in a Paris car crash in August 1997. Mr Viel said the couple had ‘never consented to any pictures other than official ones’ and both had ambitions to ‘become King and Queen of England’ – a vocation that ‘comes with obligations’ The Duke and Duchess have personally asked for the huge sum from the French version of Closer magazine, which actually published the topless pictures of Kate. The lawyer said William and Kate also wanted 42,000 pounds (50,000 euros) from La Provence, for publishing the sneak pictures without the Duchess showing off her breasts.
