Basically an Anioma man. He's still an Igbo. I will explain the "regular Igbo" term.

Nigeria is divided into 6 Geo-Political zones. We have the North East, North West dominated by the Fulani tribe, we have the South West dominated by Yoruba's. We have the Middle Belt dominated by minority tribes.

And we have South East region dominated by Igbo's only. Then there is the South South region of which Delta state belongs to. Now mainstream Igbo's are found in South East region but couple of millions are also found in some SS states like Delta state, Rivers state.

So saying he is not regular Igbo he meant he is not from the main SouthEast Igbo, but from the South South region.

But all these divisions don't really matter. He sees himself as Igbo man and we recognize our Igbo siblings across different zones.

That settles it.

Thank you! Yes this settles it lol

He is going to Nigeria next month for a month. I'm going to miss him so much. He asked for my families measurements so he can bring me some dresses. He asked me did I want any food, I have eaten Nigerian food, but I have never had stock fish so he's going to bring me some of that. He said he is going to sell some of his properties so he can get us a nice house, he wants me to go with him one day and that's always been a dream of mine so I am a happy woman.

Here's my darling... He calls me Nkem

Delta is a state in Southern Nigeria. It is mixed up with different tribes like Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ijaw and Igbo.

Delta Igbo is an Igbo man from Delta state. Simple. He speaks Igbo and practises Igbo culture.

Your baby has a beautiful name though.

Chiadika, have found a beautiful name to put in my novel. smiley

Oh ok because when I met him and asked what tribe he is from, I said are you Igbo? He said yes but not regular Igbo, I'm delta Igbo. I didn't understand, so thank you for the explanation smiley

Hi guys been a while since I posted last, but I need some help. My baby always sends me sweet things in English and Igbo and he's trying to teach me and all, but I need extra help. He has traveled to Texas, and will be back Tuesday. In the mean time I would like to send him some sweet messages expressing me love for him. My Chiadika is the man of my dreams, I've always wanted to marry a Nigerian man, an Igbo man. Please help me.

Oh and can you help me understand what a Delta Igbo is? Lol

Exactly what I was thinking. She's probably mixed with people from all over Africa. The whitemen have really dealt a cruel one on a lot of people.

This is true but does that make me more or less African? Lol I wonder because the average African American has 70-99% west African DNA and the average African American has at least 1 white ancestor, but you can look at my dads people and tell there is not white in his lineage at all, they are very tall slim and dark skinned, my moms side is short, light skinned and have some members that look white or half but I carry more of my fathers DNA I am dark skinned, high cheekbones, strong, sure we are mixed but I will say I'm African until the day I die. Like where is Africa America, theres no such place cheesy

Hi

You are probably mixed with several tribes like most of African Americans so it's very hard to tell.

Is that possible for you take to take both autosomal dna test and mitochondrial dna test (mother to mother).
I'm telling you because the mitochondrial dna test you want to take is only one ancestor, it's not significant at all, it' like 1 ancestor among 1000 ancestors.

Anyway, hope you find what you want.

I will have my brothers do my fathers line and I'll do my mothers. I know its a stretch but I am willing to accept what I can get, I know I am West African, but to know more would be amazing! wink

Uganda is an East African country. The trans-atlantic slave trade took place mostly in the West.
Though it is possible to have ancestors from Uganda, it's unlikely.

Nice pics btw. You are very beautiful smiley

Thank you, yes I know, I think the Uganda comment was supposed to be an insult, but I am not bothered, thank you for your kind comment! kiss cheesy

I will go as far as to say that you certainly do look as though you may have strong ties to SE Nigeria, and in saying so... Igbo is the most logical guess as to which specific ethnic group from that region you may descend from. [/quote

Thank you so much! wink

You look like someone from Southern Nigeria... but as per tribe, it would be difficult since you don't have very tribal features... you can easily pass for a Bini (Edo), Igbo or Yoruba woman... If you are in Nigeria, you would blend in easily... except when you start talking then your accent would give you away...

Thank you! This makes me feel a little better about who I am smiley ( I mean I am always proud to be African) but to hear you say I can blend in makes me feel great, thank you! wink

Sure, Nigerians are accomodating... if you ever come just try to speak Pidgin English and the dominant native language of the state you are in (in Lagos, it is Yoruba)...

Even though our per capita income is lower than the USA, we are not living in abject poverty...

BUT be prepared for the heat season that occurs between February to May before the rains start.. and in a place like Lagos (where i stay) add high humidty to the heat... in the Northern parts of Nigeria, their own is dry heat (low humidity).

Thank you very much, too much heat makes me physically ill, but I will adjust as long as there is air conditioning lol

...You gotta be kidding me..lol...I admire your courage and resolve to discover your roots no matter what it takes..I still don't get where the motivation is coming from cos I know there are tens of millions of african americans who don't give a bleep about Africa..

I have been this was since I was a child and I am 35 now lol and yes there are plenty of blacks here in America and other countries that try to deny who they are and where they come from, and I think its really ridiculous! I mean why be ashamed of who you are and where you come from? There are also a lot of us who want to go HOME! But you never really hear about us I am sure, I am sure you hear of the fools that don't like to put AFRICAN in front of American, those that don't do anything but ask silly questions every time they meet an African person, asking crap like do you kill lions and do you all wear clothes angry my daughters high school teacher said "why would your mom want to move to Africa, its so dirty and poor there" UNBELIEVABLE! Her teacher is white and I wanted to slap her face off, I said tell your teacher, there are many rich people over there that could buy and sell her life! Any time anyone insults anything to do with Africa and her people I get pissed off, more so when its another black person! I am tired of the people here, fighting, shooting each other, unlimited babies and no husbands, full jails, crime, death I am sick of it all, its out of control. I live in a small town that used to be safe, not so much any more. I want to live somewhere that is rich in history and tradition. Sure we had some, but this new generation of idiots and losers are destroying everything my people died for, so I am ready to leave.... I just hope I am welcomed with open arms <3

....What else do you intend doing apart from just visiting? grin

To be honest, if Donald Trump is elected I will be moving there forever lol I eventually want to move back home (where ever that is) but I will live out my last days in Africa somewhere. I have a decent amount of money, I would love to build a house there, that would be a dream! Maybe start a business to help women and children, I have 4 of my own, so I know things can get tough sometimes. I just don't want anyone to be rude to me because I am African American and I don't know my history blah blah blah, that's not my fault, if I had a choice, I would have chose to be born in Africa!
