The Church – The Hope Of The World – Thursday October 20, 2011 – Pastor Chris

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).

The Church of Jesus Christ is the oasis of hope in a troubled world. The Bible says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The Lord Jesus Christ came to the world as God’s answer to all of the problems of mankind. He declared in Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He’s the solution to all who are hopeless, and the certain cure to the economic and social upheavals threatening the peace of any nation.

This is the message the Church should boldly proclaim to the world. Its high time people knew that Jesus is the only hope and assurance of their peace, progress and prosperity. As a child of God you have a responsibility to manifest the glory of God in your sphere of contact and be a source of hope to the hopeless in your world. That’s your calling: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for the wonderful privilege of being your child and the inheritance that’s mine in Christ. I’m so glad that in Christ I’m divinely positioned and enabled to influence my world with the grace of God and impart hope to the hopeless. Thank you Father for lifting me up as a source of hope to the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I don't think joagbaje is wrong
Not every word in the bible is spoken of God, some are documentations

When demons speak, they are only documented but they are not Gods word

God Is Not Against Medicine! – Sunday October 16, 2011 – Pastor Chris

By Diane Maartens in Rhapsody Of Realities Daily Devotional · Edit Doc.And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine (Ezekiel 47:12).

There are believers who’re averse to medicine; they wrongly assume that for a Christian to take any kind of medication is an indication of a lack of faith. Meanwhile, God is not averse to the use of medication; that a Christian uses medication doesn’t mean he lacks faith or that he’s done something wrong. In the Old Testament, as we read in our opening scripture, God gave the priests medical instructions for the people. In this particular instance the prophet alludes to medicine, he says, “…the leaf thereof for medicine.”

We find the same allusion in Revelation 22:2: “In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” If you carefully consider the language of these scriptures, you’d understand that God wasn’t against medicine. He says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. In other words, healing came from the use of those leaves.

This helps us understand God’s thinking concerning medicine, and how that He wants people well. What is wrong however is for anyone to rely on medicine instead of God’s Word. As a Christian, it’s important you know that the Word of God is the best medicine; far more potent than any herb or medical drug: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20-22).

Here, we discover the curative and therapeutic power of the Word; it’s health – medicine to your flesh! The word “health” is from the Hebrew word “marpe” which means medicine, healing or remedy. It connotes that which has curative ability. You should rather use your faith to receive healing through the Word. But if you choose to take advantage of medical help, you’ve done nothing wrong. But remember, there’re ailments that till date, have defied any known medical diagnosis and cure; you can always trust the Word for your healing and health.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the entrance of your Word and the light it has given me. Your Word is the food for my spirit and it produces health in me, making me vibrant and productive today, and evermore, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15TH: PASTOR ANITA

Speak The Word With Boldness

For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

(Hebrews 13:5-6)

The Word of God in your mouth has inherent power to produce what it says. When you speak it with the boldness of the Spirit, things change. The Bible tells us in Acts 4:31 that the apostles were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the Word with boldness. Notice it didn’t say “they preached the Gospel with boldness, even though that is definitely implied. Rather, it says they spoke the Word of God with boldness.

What then is the Word of God or rather, what was it they said that passed as the Word of God? In this context, whatever they might have said about themselves on the basis of what God has said is the Word of God. The apostle Peter for one, on the day of Pentecost, declared the Word of God with so much passion and boldness that three thousand souls were saved after they heard him speak. Peter’s words were so impregnated with divine energy that it pricked the hearts of his hearers: “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37).

Never be timid about the Word; declare it at all times with boldness. Our opening scripture says, “He has said, so that we may boldly say….” Be bold to say what He has said about you in His Word. For example, 1 Peter 1:23, says: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.” Therefore, speak boldly in consonance with that word, declaring to all and sundry that you’re a product of the Word.

In Christ you live and move, and have your being; you reign with Him in the realms of glory. You’re a victor over death, hell and the grave. Make these your bold confessions today. Remember, the Word of God in your mouth is what produces result. Therefore learn to speak the Word with boldness.

CONFESSION

I’m a victor, I’m a success; I’m a winner for ever, because greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. I’m a product of God’s Word and, therefore, I achieve results by the Word and through the power of God’s Spirit. I’m walking in the realm of glory today, because life has come to me in the Word, and through the Word. Praise God.

You’re Royalty – Friday October 14, 2011 – Pastor Chris
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5-6).

The kings of the earth make painstaking efforts to raise and culture their children, because they’re royalty. Their kids don’t walk, talk, dress or behave like everyone else. The expectations are even greater when the child in question is the heir-apparent. That’s why Solomon said, “I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live” (Proverbs 4:3-4).

Solomon certainly wasn’t David’s only child, yet he said, “I was my father’s son” because he was the one groomed for the throne. There was a special training David needed to bequeath to him which the other sons didn’t get. As God’s children, we’re his heirs: “And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:17).

You’re a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. You’re not an ordinary person; you’re royalty. Your heavenly Father owns the whole world and has placed you in charge of His possessions. No wonder the Bible says all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21). What an honour to be an heir of God!

You’ve been called to reign in life as a king. Make up your mind to walk, talk and live as the king that you are. Refuse to talk cheap or live a beggarly life. Kings don’t talk cheap, they exercise authority. Even in your prayers, don’t beg. Relate with God as a son. He loves you and knows you’re His heir, who has a right to His inexhaustible inheritance.

Prayer

I’m a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, holy and a peculiar treasure unto God. I was born to reign and rule in life with the dominion of the Spirit. Through my words, I effect changes in the realm of the spirit, and cause circumstances and situations to align with God’s plan and purpose today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

It’s amazing how people like ‘mabell’ and other supporters project their own idiocies onto rational people who are trying to enlighten them. I find the following quote both hilarious and yet highly revealing of the sort of mental condition that is keeping Nigeria in bondage.

Quote from nuclearboy:

CE members are usually violent, myopic and so so SO dedicatedly money minded yet here is this gentleman speaking like someone who still has brains not yet corrupted by yaks yaps.”
This is like pointing to a goat in the midst of lions and saying “here is the only animal that we can be sure will not be eaten within the next two hours.’

I very much agree with deols that many of these evangelical con artists all over the world are actually atheists/agnostics who realize that there is a lot of money to be made in the church industry. Also, many of these guys are sociopaths who have no feelings whatsoever for the people they are taking advantage of and feel no sense of guilt.

At the same time, one has to remember that human beings are very complex entities. One cannot immediately conclude that just because someone constantly lies and invents stories of miracles and supernatural events so as to deceive a gullible public into believing that he is a powerful MOG, or engages in other kinds of dishonest and rapacious practices, therefore means he is not a true believer. People often find all kinds of ways to rationalize and justify their actions even if they are inconsistent with their beliefs.

Of course, it is also possible that some of these men (and women) were once genuine believers but gradually lost their belief along the way on the road to immense material prosperity. The truth is that, at the end of the day, most Christians are not really certain about what they believe. There is a strong doubt that usually lies in their subconscious. That is why they need faith. Thus, when they are confronted with great material temptations it becomes difficult for them to take these beliefs seriously.

Champion A Cause! – Wednesday, October 12, 2011 – Pastor Anita

But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him. And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them (Judges 6:34-35).

A champion is one who wins for others, not for himself. A champion is a trailblazer, an initiator, a paladin of a good cause. When you look around, you’ll find that several opportunities abound for you to champion a cause and chart new frontiers to improve your world. Irrespective of how “odd” you might feel to be the singular initiator or sole proponent of a positive idea or movement that can improve your immediate society, you must remain undaunted. Let the inspiration for change drive you to champion that positive cause to a successful end. Don’t be among those who merely fold their arms and expect the government to do everything. Rather, be like Gideon who championed the cause to awaken the children of Israel to battle for their liberation against the Midianites.

If you’re a teacher for example, there’re lots of community help-services you can undertake. You can take up the responsibility to organize free extramural classes for students and pupils in your community or neighbourhood. By doing this, you’ll be making a great difference in the lives of the young ones whose parents can’t afford to pay their fees. Many youngsters have grown to become violent and angry at society because they weren’t exposed to the little aids that could have been at no cost.

You can be the one to make a difference. There’s something you can do, no matter how little. Look around you! God has put in you the ability to champion a cause and give back to society. Let’s do something today that’ll help both our younger and future generations fulfil their dreams.

Prayer

Dear Father, I thank you for the investments you’ve made in my life. I’m conscious of your abilities in me and the changes that can be accomplished in society through me, as I blaze new trails for the purpose of fulfilling your good pleasure, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).

A lot of people want today’s satisfaction for themselves and are not thinking about the future generations – our adorable children – the leaders of tomorrow. No wonder Jesus loves them so dearly, and never gets weary of them. Once, His disciples tried to prevent people from bringing their children to Him, but He rebuked them saying, “…Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14).

It’s important for us to give special attention to children – especially the destitute children in our cities, street corners, squatter camps, slums, ghettos etc. These ones live in squalor, abject poverty, neglect and despair. But we can bring them hope. Many of them are frustrated and bereft of a chance to live. Some die every day from starvation, with no one to help. Most have turned beggars on the streets. A child turned beggar from a tender age would surely become a violet adult. He would take out his anger and frustration on society. This is one of the reasons for increasing crimes in society; the reason we must do something now.

According to the Bible, children are a blessing, and a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). God expects them to be raised in the right way (Proverbs 22:6). It’s important that we give them special attention and consideration when making decisions, whether or not they are our biological children.

It’s your responsibility to put things in place or set things right to safeguard the future of our children. Remember, every child is your child.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Prayer

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for opening doors of opportunity for me to be a blessing to my world today. By your Spirit, and through your wisdom, I identify and carry out those things you’ve ordained me to do that’ll better my world, and bring glory to your Name, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Make An Impact! – Thursday October 6, 2011 – Pastor Anita

By Diane Maartens · Last edited 9 hours ago · Edit Doc.So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled (1 Samuel 17:50-51).

It’s our responsibility as individuals to make our impact felt in our respective spheres of contact. It may be in your community, place of work, city or nation at large; look out for a need, and reach out to meet that need.

Imagine if David had joined the rest of his kinfolks to merely lament and muse over the terror unleashed on the Israelites by Goliath. Rather, he rose to the challenge. He saw a need and reached out to meet the need. When his brothers tried to talk him down, he asked them, “Is there not a cause?” (1 Samuel 17:29). David wasn’t in the army, yet he was moved by the plight of his people and chose to make an impact. He recognized he could do something that could change the destiny of his people.

Also, Moses became the deliverer of the children of Israel from the severe oppression mounted by Pharaoh and his taskmasters. He didn’t sit in an “arm chair” to merely criticize Pharaoh for his wickedness. Rather, he was spurred to action by the desire to liberate the children of Israel from the deplorable conditions under which they lived in Egypt. What about Esther? She too changed the destiny of her people by rescuing the Jews from mass annihilation plotted by Haman.

These ones stood up for the salvation of others and made tremendous impact in the world of their time; it’s your turn to do the same. Look out today for a human need around you and reach out to meet that need. Make an impact in your world. Have a personal commitment to serve, as several opportunities for service abound in our world. Let there be a strong motivation, an inner drive, and a powerful propensity to see to it that the lives of those around you are improved through your actions. Be challenged and motivated by the desire to impact your world and give back to society.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Prayer

Dear Father, I see all trials and challenges that come my way as bread. No force has the ability to defeat me or throw me off balance because greater is He that lives in me than he that’s in the world. I’m more than a conqueror, and I live with confidence, knowing that all of heaven and power of divinity are working for me, for my good, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
