Please, I would like to find out, if WAEC scratch cards are only available in Yaba or they could be purchased anywhere in Nigeria?

Thank you

AutoElectNG. I am genuinely grateful for your assistance thus far. You have been quite supportive and helpful in helping get my Infiniti QX4 back on the road. I sincerely cannot thank you enough. God bless you tremendously. Regards

AutoElectNG:

Co.stee has pointed you in the right direction, the electric motor in the IACV in your car has a tendency to go down, but sadly it fails to go down alone, it likes to take the ECU along.

Best practice indicates that when you face this problem, replace both...but replace the IACV first, and the ECU next failing which, the new to you ECU will soon fail - if the technician you consulted did not tell you this, he is not thorough!

Secondly, if the new to you ECU has this code P0505 but fails to go away after following the recommended procedure for clearing it, then you are back to square one, you are thus faced with a difficult choice - buy a replacement ECU or repair the one that died by replacing the faulty chip.

My advice...buy a new (not new to you aka tokunbo) IACV before thinking of replacing the ECU, and make sure the part number matches your old ECU if you go the replacement ECU route.

Note: I suggest a new IACV because the used ones in the market may have been beaten to death, their motors may be close to end of life, you do not want to back here so soon after for the same problem.

Let wiring integrity be confirmed before the installation of a new ECU.

Get an OBD II bluetooth scanner and install OBD II software on your mobile and frequently scan for issues (especially if you see a check engine light) so you will be ahead of trouble next time. Learn more about OBD II here https://www.nairaland.com/3661728/on-board-diagnostics-obd-ii-questions

Did you have a check engine light on that vehicle? If you had, did you scan for codes? I think you must have had, but since most likely you did not check, you were not aware that you had IACV trouble? Did you have a jumping/unsteady idle?

Yes, the check engine light was on for a very long time and I just kept driving. I guess I was the architect of my own problem. Since you are far away in Abuja, is there anyone equally reliable you can recommend here in Lagos?

I forgot to add also that we put in a new ECU and it went in flames in less than 18hrs. I am in deep problems right now. The car broke down at my children's school and it has been in the school premises ever since then.

This is an SOS call, Please

Please, I need professional help from a willing member.

My Infiniti QX4 just shut down somewhere in Ikoyi and smell of something burnt oozed from the dashboard (I couldn't say specifically from where). I got a mechanic who, in turn, brought a rewire after looking at it. A sensor was replaced yet the car did not start. Eventually, I was told it was the brainbox (when brought out, it was still smelling very burnt).

My fear is, I hope the only problem is the brainbox because that alone will cost me N40k (I already discussed with a seller at Ladipo). I have had the SUV for more than 6 years and I have never done any major work on it other than servicing and replacing bad shocks.

Prior to the complete breakdown, the SUV would not move fast even when I fired it. It took sometime to gather moment to move at my desired speed, which I found worrisome but I didn't know exactly what might be wrong. I blamed the whole it on old age (it's fast aging).

Anticipating your professional counsel.

saydfact:

No7: Tiles (Next up for estimate is tiling works)

Welcome after such a long break.

For tiling we'll assume all floors would be tiles and only toilet and bathroom walls up-to 2.1m (lintel level) would receive tiles.

From the drawings attached:

a. Total Floor Area of Bedroom, Lobbies etc = 37.98m2
b. Living / Dinning room = 37.10m2
c. Toilets and bathroom (floor) = 9.16m2
d. Toilets and bathroom (wall) = 24.9 * 2.1 = 52.29m2
e. Kitchen and store = 16.99m2

Total Square Meter = 105m2 (approx)

The reason we separated the areas is because we would use slightly more expensive tiles in the public spaces e.g living room than in the private spaces e.g bedroom

Rates of Tiles for:
a. @ N2,200 per square meter = 84K
b. @ N3,350 per square meter = 125K
c. @ N1,250 per square meter = 12K
d. @ N1,200 per square meter = 63K
e. @ N1,200 per square meter = 21K

Total Material Cost: N305,000:00k (to reduce cost of material, you could go for cheaper floor tiles especially in the Living and Bedroom areas, or change totally to cheaper options like Rubber (Nasco) tiles in the private spaces e.g Bedrooms)

Transportation Cost: N20k (depending on distance of purchase)
Labour Cost: 105 * 450/m2 = approx 50k
Sand 20 tonnes = 55k (Max)
Cement = about 30 bags @ N2350 = 71k
miscellaneous = 10k

Total in this Section: 196k

Grand Total: N501,000:00K (Five Hundred and One Thousand Naira Only)

To Be Continued:
Stay Tuned.... THANKS.

Thanks for sharing this. I have actually been searching where I could find how tiler charges. Now, I am better informed. The guy tiling my house actually plans to rip me off but with this information now, I am better equipped to negotiate well with him. Once again, thank you and God bless you richly for this

I must express my admiration for this concept "Do It Yourself". A couple of years ago, I posted here on Nairaland concerted efforts I was making to hurriedly complete my 3 bedroom bungalow so I can finally be free from my cantankerous landlady. Today, the building is as good as ready to move; though tiling work and wiring are ongoing as I write. I am particularly encouraged by the likes of Hajj, Rotech and lot more people I can't recall their names. May the good Lord continue to use to you encourage many more people to aspire to owning their own "homes". Thank you

Dear esteemed Nairalanders, I want to thank you all again for sharing your experiences especially on completing a project. Of course, you will pardon my repeated enquiry about how to roof a property. I have once shared it here and would like to share it again because I did not get any satisfactory response yet.

I have a bungalow measuring 61feet by 24feet that I desperately need to roof. By that I mean, I need to ensure it is timely roofed before my rent expires, as my landlady has increased my rent by almost 50%. Unfortunately, I am lean on cash so I am actually looking at doing a very simple roofing that is extremely cost effective yet durable.

I have been advised to do a very simple GABLE Design with very low King Post. My property is straight square without any edges or curves. Could somebody be kind enough to give me a rough estimates of the amount of woods and slates (my preference is the big cement-fibre corrugated roofing slates) I will need to roof this property?

May the good Lord continue to bless you as you help us small property owners, trying to escape exploitation of Lagos wicked landlords and landladies.

Hello Dear colleague Nairalanders. I have been a member for years and have monitored various discussions around roofing a property. Interestingly, I have a bungalow I am about to roof and I desperately need some expert advice. It will suffice to state at this point that I am not looking at a very fancy roofing designs and materials like I have seen in here but something modest and long lasting. My reasons are these: I lost my rewarding banking job years ago and I have had this uncompleted property since 2008 raised already to roofing level. My rent just got hiked ridiculously and I have finally decided to cover my property, tile the living room, a room or two then move in by middle of this year.

The property measures 61 feet by 24 feet and someone has suggested gable design for its cost effectiveness. I am open to any advice that isn't too expensive and for the roofing preference, aluminium 0.45mm or good slates will be fine by me. I just need your help, ladies and gentle me of Nairaland. I want to know the cost implication of my chosen roofing design in terms of quantity of roofing sheets, woods, other accessories and workmanship. I am willing to engage any Nairalander than can offer these services at a fairly discounted fee/rate.

My prayer is that the good Lord will continue to broaden your knowledge and wisdom horizon so you can impact many more lives like you are magnanimously doing already.
