Politics / Re: Another APC Application Confirmed By INEC by mafifle: 12:53pm On Mar 12, 2013
percipi1: It is a common law principle that the first in time prevails. I think INEC should go ahead and register the African People’s Congress if they met the conditions for registration. All Progressive Congress should adopt another name. By the way, I don’t like the acronym (APC). They should choose an ideological name like Labour party. E.g, Conservative, Tea, Green, Independent, Republican, Referendum etc

They want the name to sound like ACN and CPC. The Yorubas want to help return power to the North undermining the SE.
Politics / Re: Another APC Application Confirmed By INEC by mafifle: 12:47pm On Mar 12, 2013
take dat: Slow your roll! If the FACELESS APC had long submitted their application to INEC before the merger came to be, why didn't INEC as a neutral umpire immediately informed the coalition party when they came out with the communique of forming APC, that there is an existing application for the same acronym as picked by the merger? INEC cannot claim it wasn't notified by the respective parties in the coalition of their intention to go into a merger, so why wait for weeks before making it known to them? Since 7th of February, INEC just saw the need to call their attention to it on the 10th of March after all the publicity! What a Mockery of institutional incompetence!

Why are you contradicting yourself. You call INEC a neutral umpire and at the same time you want to inform the coalition of a request by another intending party . This is a game and the umpire only blows at the point of infringement and not anticipatoryly. Abi your late stooge said any thing is right in a game .

Before calling me a "One Nigeria" champion, please make sure you represent me fully.
For the record, I stated that "a PERMANENTLY DYSFUNCTIONAL Nigeria is a prime enemy of Igbo survival, and we should use ALL our resources to leave it". It is here in this thread, all you need do is go back and read.
What I would never support is a one track mind towards Biafra without thinking HOW to actualize it, and in the process history repeats itself.

Ndigbo need a functioning country, be it Nigeria or Biafra. So, if you are interested in quoting me, please quote me properly.
Thanks.

Are you saying post independence we are not in "a PERMANENTLY DYSFUNCTIONAL Nigeria" and by implication entangled with "a prime enemy of Igbo survival"?

Please help me i am about abdicating some of my right (voting), but before doing that i need to make sure i an convinced.

Politics / Re: Federal Government Complicit In Fuel Subsidy Fraud - Fashola by mafifle: 8:53pm On Feb 27, 2013
If GEJ stands for election in 2015 he is going to still WIN. It is too late for Fashola to find his voice now.

Gbawe: I love the new politically combative Fashola. His talk here, even if correct, is a political statement of intent. I am now convinced a top 2015 APC political role has been pencilled in for Fashola going by how the Lagos governor has upped the ante as an open critic of the FG lately. We all saw Ribadu doing precisely the same thing in 2010-2011

If there was a criticism I had of Fashola, it was his hesitancy to fully define himself as a politician. Now he is doing so. Very important to perform but also important,if you have top-level ambition, to be visibly charismatic, for good or bad, in Nigerian politics . All GEJ's gra-gra will come to nought because he will be the last accidental President Nigeria ever has. The old boys are running out of steam and their machinations , since 1999, that made it possible for their unprepared, uncharismatic and dour stooges to lead Nigeria can no longer endure in this day and age.

Things have changed and the leaders of the future will be opinionated and resolute men like Fashola, Amaechi, Ribadu, Aliyu,Okorocha, Oshiomhole, Aregbesola, Fayemi et al. Whether folks like these guys or not, I personally identify them as the next generation of Nigerian leaders because we are entering an age where Nigeria, forced to do so by evolution, will conform to what obtains elsewhere i.e those who plan to lead, plus have the ability to do so, get to lead.

The days of promoting mediocre embodiments of establishment docility (Yar Adua , GEJ, David Mark et al) into top offices will be over soon. I have to thank GEJ for unwittingly hastening the extinction of his own kind in the top tier of Nigerian politics. It is all for the best because ,either way, we need opinionated and resolute characters leading Nigeria and not gradualists who do not stand for anything at all.

Go on with one nigeria.

mu2sa2: The water from that borehole pump i believe is drinkable and available. In ilorin metropolis mains water runs once in a blue moon; in fact i will say 80% of the population of Ilorin has no access to water from the state water board and this has been the situation for over 20 years. Ironically every governor that comes into office budgets and embezzles billions of naira in the name of greater ilorin water scheme.

Enugu is not the only great city in the SE, in terms of population and industries, Onitsha and Aba is ahead but Enugu is the political capital and Owerri as the summer capital.
Fact 2; Onitsha has the largest concentration of high rise buildings of 4,5 and 6 storeys in west Africa.
Fact 3; Aba has more industries than any SW city bar Lagos.
Fallacy; Ibadan is the largest city in WA! gosh are you an illiterate?
Fact 4; Lagos, Kano, Abidjan etc are far more populous than Ibadan.
Fallacy; You concluded that Ibadan is fine because you went to Bodija estate? Now its either you are a kid or you possess a very low IQ.
Fallacy; Igbos are under the shadow of Yorubas! Igbos are actually ahead in many spheres of life.
Please don't insult our sensibility with your ignorance.

When someone produces goods or services at a cheaper rate than his contemporaries, due to his skills or better opportunities, he is said to have comparative advantage. This is the reason why you find the Chinese in Angola or Igbos in Mali, its not because the places are more developed, rather they move from stiff competition at home to virgin areas they can dominate. You see why Igbos are really smart? Go to any spare part market in Sub-saharan Africa, you will marvel at how the Igbos control the supply chain and the most interesting aspect is that they make Nnewi their hub!

Onlytruth: @ PhysicsQED

So how will that spoil my day? In fact it has made my day!  grin grin

The gist of the article is that Igbo has ALWAYS borne the interest of southern minorities at heart contrary to what some of these minorities have been saying. We are the only majority group that acted on the feelings of our minority neighbors to have a political space and control their own affairs. As you showed in the "Middle belt" thread, it even began with Zik.

That does not mean that it is in Eastern interests to pursue disparate political goals in Nigeria since we are still neighbors and blood relations. undecided  We did it just to allow peace and dignity. I would want these minorities to understand the context and take over the struggle to re-unite the Old eastern region. Our (South East/South) clout in Nigeria can only gain from it. We have nothing to fear or lose from such unity.

Andre Uweh: To the 3 contestants: Onlytruth, Alex and Biafra rep.
Do you think it's proper for Ndigbo to honour a Yorubaman-Fajuyi who died defending Aguiyi Ironsi an Igbo head of state?

As far as i know, Igbos have ever remained greatful to Fajuyi for defending Aguyi Ironsi. He has always been an Igbo champion. Every Igbo man will always have good words for Fajuyi even though there has not been any physical display of such honour.

My personal comments.

Over to our would be Ezes.

Onlytruth So, I would rather create a local “Biafra” whereby every state governor is held personally accountable for his actions while in office, be it economic, executive, political or cultural. We need to start holding our governors accountable first. If we do that successfully for a few years, we may wake up to find that all our Biafran dreams have been achieved even without mentioning Biafra.

Why are you quoting Biafra in the bolded? Are you implying local militia or a movement/pressure group whose ideology is centered on accountability in govt, equitable distribution of dividends of democracy, meritocracy etc .

How convenient to refer to to constitution when it suits one's argument and disregard it when it doesn't.

Oga! what exactly is your issue here? Are you a paid agent? Why cant you behave yourself and allow things flow? Do you think clowning around will put forward your opinion?

We are all aware of the deficiency in the constitution. And the has been a majority understanding that same will be reviewed. so why not allow that when the time comes.

If you opened this moniker to derail this process, you are already DOA.

Please be guided.
Politics / Re: Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland By-Election 2013: Nominations by mafifle: 2:40pm On Feb 25, 2013
Alfamann:
OK Then.

I hereby appeal to the nairaland igbo election tribunal to nullyfy the ongoing process of selection of a new Eze. This process is not supported by our constitution.

Having gone through, the constitution, there is no place that it states that a bye-election should be organised in case of resignation of a sitting eze. This ommission by itself, renders the ongoing process unconstitutional, null, void and unbinding to any son or daughter of igboland.

A second appeal is the situation of ezenwanyi once an eze is out of office. The constitution did not adrress this neither but the Eze and ezenwanyi were elected together and the administration is theirs together. When one resigns, the administration automatically loses legitimacy and the remaining one loses power and his/her office must also be disolved. This will ensure that the new eze will not be burdened by the remnants of the last disorganised administration.

I hereby propose that:

1- A moratorium be declared on the ongoing bye-election process.

2- A constitutional ammendment commitee be appointed to amend the constitution to adress the issue of the process to follow in cases of resignations.

3- That the issue of what happens to an admnistration of Eze and Ezenwanyi when one of them abdicates be adressed.

Another issue is that Point B has called on Ezenwanyi to organise the rest of the election process. This also is unconstitutional and her legitimacy to organise this election is seriously in doubt.

Point be should also be reminded that he does not make the rules, his role is to make sure that the rules are followed without bias. He has no authority to make binding decisions on the rest of us. The constitution does not confer him such powers.

When there is no constitutional provision to cater for an event, precedent is used and when there is no precedence, majority agreement is assumed to be law and initial precedence is set until there is a constitutional provision.

We did not think that an Eze can adbicate mid way into his tenure.

Noiseless2: Umuigbo mmamanu! I will like to thank the entire electoral commitee and all the clean hearted partispants for the good work of the first stage against all odds, jisie nu ike ummuna. I hereby suggest that Okija juju should not be allowed to ever be nominated or run for any leadership that has anything to do with the Igbos indefinitely, given the troubles he continues enjoying causing on the Igbos as such a person has no place atall in Aligbo.

@Electoral commitee, I hope that the Biafran issues will be allowed during the questions to each leadership candidates, for the people to know and understand their honest views and how they intend to aproach certain issues as regard to Biafra.

Thanks.

It is also an abomination for a person to openly abuse and insult his own tribe. I will also add that the said Okija Juju be excommunicated (Ka anyi gba ya mkpe) as it is done in the Igbo tradition for a period of three years.
