MegaMan2020: I would say the Yoruba culture is the most well known outside of Nigeria. Its not even debateable to be honest. the language the traditional attires, the music. The least well known is the Igbo culture because are Igbos tend to adopt other culture than their own.the LEAST well known culture in Nigeria is IGBO? Nollywood? Chinua Achebe? P Square? Okocha? Iweala? Zik of Africa? Osuofia? Genevive? Biafra? the amount of igbos in diaspora? Tiv is more well known than igbo? I would say the face of Nigeria internationally is very Igbo. If a non nigerian is told to describe nigerians they will most likely describe an igbo man. As far as africa the most popular nigerian words are Biko and Chineke because of Nollywood's popularity. Outside of Nigeria the artists that are the most well known are. Most read book about africa in the history of man is an igbo cultural epic. This is Nigeria's biggest cultural export. The work Okro/okra is even a part of the english language. ![]() Most well known african tribes are Zulu Maasi Ashante Igbo Yoruba Sans (Bushmen) |

Someone that arrived to Uganda on a private jet, and fills stadiums in that country, can't pay for a hotel and 'extra fees?' blogger needs to contact his mother if he wants attention. i smell a lie |

Plus there's a BBC Hausa and no BBC Yoruba or BBC Igbo. And the north was basically handed Nigeria at independence by the british If you study history books in the west about civilizations in africa you'll hear of Benin and Hausa City States. |

white people are fascinated with the majesty of northern culture and the natural environment there. Believe it or not, if you exclude Lagos, the North probably gets more international visitors than the south, easily. All the whites that i speak to that have been to Nigeria went to the North or Lagos. Show a foreigner a picture of Durbar if you want them to respect Nigeria. ![]() |

If the nigerian police authority had sense it would stop reported the amount kidnappers are making as if they're trying to advertise the profitability of kidnapping. When's the last time the earnings of a technology or medicine firm in Nigeria was reported? 1 Like |

Part of the peace agreement is to not come into success threads trying to be negative because it's someone else's tribe. This factor will help children achieve their dreams because their parents employed by it will have the resources to invest in their future. It will give people hope that didn't believe they will every find work. It will give the community a sense of pride and accomplishment which to me is a greater gift than gold i don't think the packaging is something to dwell on. You can't ask the bird why it can't fly when it first hatchets from the shell. |

ODUA_NEGRO: I do know about him, and he's not as rich as Babangida We don't need the government giving out oil contracts, there are private means of doing this. If the private sector is corrupt in the oil industry the oil industry will suffer, but if government is involved, and government is corrupted, we are doomed for generations, all aspects of life from the education, to power, to the price of garri If nigeria wants a real government the government has to take it's hands and eyes away from the oil industry. Regulate so that people like Tony Buckingham don't take advantage of the citizens but an oil minister shouldn't be the one that picks and chooses how gets to drill what land. |

the AVERAGE american artists doesn't make a lot of money. It's the top 10 that we always hear about and they're extremely rich, but everyone below that is not much richer than artists in Nigeria. That's what people don't understand. What is a mixtape? a collection of free songs up for download on the internet...americans don't buy music anymore, unless through itunes and other online mediums. Dbanj thought that he was about to take a 'bigger step' but failed to realize he was already bigger than most of Good Musics roster, except Kanye himself. Dbanj's success was due to his personality and his hits. Don Jazzy was key to making the hits and American media isn't going to give him a chance to show his personality because it's rigid and not as open minded as the british media. I'm afraid he pigeon holed himself. Don Jazzy on the other hand has the talent but doesn't have anyone with the star power and personality of Dbanj to make it heard. There are beats on the Frenzy album that Dbanj would have turned into international hits. Prince is great, i like that he's finding his voice and making himself unique, but Dbanj is Dbanj. |

f. Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF): the PTDF will provide funding to train Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians, and craftsmen in the fields of engineering, geology, science, management and other fields related to the petroleum industry. The PTDF will be funded by the Government, substantially by means of reinvestment of monies received by the Government in its administration of the industry. ^this is the only meaningful part. Unless this is a biased propagandist summary, this bill is a total and complete waste of time and represents a real lack of the ability to solve our problems. It creates more ministries for looting, there are functions regulated by 2-3 ministries at one time, and concentrates power in the federal government even more. The bill is trash. the ministry of petroleum has the right to 'award' contracts? why? did the ministry find the oil?! Have people bid for exploration rights and buy land from the people that own it, what they find is theirs and the government can regulate to make sure they're not destroying the community or breaking any laws. why does a ministry pick and choose who gets oil contracts? Is that not the core of our corruption? these people aren't serious, if this is the real bill GEJ will never have my support again. |

Any nigerian born and bred in Anambra is an Anambran as well There are hausa and igbo people who's ancestors have been in lagos longer than some yoruba there. Almost nobody in lagos is an indigine, unless you believe the colonials ran into a huddle of 20 million precolonial africans when they go there. |

im an igbo man and this is a STUPID attention seeking thread! If the time and person is right i would love to see states take on non 'indigine tribe' governors but saying it as if it'll be a must is stupid. Moderators, to ensure the peace we've established continued i advise deleting this nonsense. it was only created to start trouble. 6 Likes |

At least. This is a good policy because reduced price of travel means a sharp increase in business activities, and tourism. Hopefully they're quality planes and hopefully they actually do as they say. |

The US denied saying Nigeria would break up. America is more foolish than you think. Notice they excluded themselves from the countries that are set to decline? |

My apologies for presenting an incorrect picture, it was presented to me as such. the point it it's orderliness and that fact that it has the things needed to make a street liveable, lights, and side walks. Come to the south and see people building skyscrapers with no sidewalk. |
![]() |
Makurdi ![]() Zaria ![]() ![]() Minna ![]() Maidugari ![]() Northerners are very orderly planners that are more concerned with the practical than impressing someone (which is killing us in he South) in the south we work on programs that impress people like monorails, but the same cities trying to have monorails don't common have pedestrian walk ways or closed gutters We should stop lying to ourselves about the North, these are very reasonable people like them or not. |
![]() |
The media in nigeria is very reckless. This is why i semi-support NYSC. I think the program needs to be changed though, you can't take Nigerians to the most impoverished parts of each region on their only chance to travel to a random part of the country. I think the should go to the villages and help where the help is needed, but have a regional recreation vacation where they all meet up in a nice part of the region and are entertained by locals, that would be very conducive in building understanding and defusing tensions (which themselves i feel are over stated) I was shocked when i saw pictures of Northern places like Yobe. Even the Maidugari that's suffering right now is a solid economic community. We're celebrating having lights line our streets in the south east now, places in the north that we've been looking down at have had this as a reality for ages. |

Abia is easily the most dangerous place in Nigeria. I'm not exaggerating, but many in the SE believe that the kidnappers are coming from Abia because the state is very enterprising and bold but hasn't had a good leader since independence. This isn't an attack on my Abia people, Aba saved my family because it was there that we rebuilt our lives after the war and where my father was born, but there are issues in Abia that nobody has addressed in 50+ years because of bad leadership. The only thing holding the place is a bold citizenry and their innovative thinking, unfortunately kidnapping is the new innovation ![]() 1 Like |
