Does anyone here have a good japa travelling bag for sale? |

Hi guys, Asking for a friend, For a first time traveller to UK? Does the UK require persons to travel from their country of nationality? For example, if you apply for a UK visa from Nigeria, receive approval, and then for instance you travel to Ghana, can you travel from Ghana to UK directly or must return to country of application Nigeria before travelling to UK? |

Just checked the list. My wife’s visa has been approved today. For everyone who has waited this far and still waiting, I hope you get good news soon. 3 Likes |

Update: 14th November Seems JF visa processing has resumed as some JF looking numbers seem to have been processed recently. Fingers crossed. |

This was very hard to read. I have this to say: Your father is probably the real father of that boy. There is no other reason he would accept to take care of a Predator who sees his own children as prey. If you can’t afford a DNA test, I’d say find out his blood group if it matches with most of you, chances are you are halfway to solving the mystery. 2 Likes |

Saw this post from a Facebook user today (picture below), celebrating speedy processing in UAE, and what can I say? Just a word of encouragement for us still waiting for JF reunification from Irish Embassy, Nigeria. Hang in there and don’t lose spirit. There is really no real reason to explain why we are treated like this, but delay is not denial. Hang in there compatriots, wish you all a sound reunification. 4 Likes

fineboynl:Good idea, but what if I don’t find a buyer when its time to leave? Are there no professional companies that have cars for rent, self driven? |

I’ll be going to Nigeria to spend time with my family for Christmas. Please where can I find a decent company to rent a good car for 1 month in Lagos? And how much does it cost? Self-driven only. Not with a driver. |

Anyone have any idea if the Embassy in Nigeria is still processing visa applications following the security alerts? And by the way, I saw they just posted new decisions a few minutes ago and the rejections are staggering. Don’t see any JF looking numbers though. Should we expect we would be informed if they stopped or took the applications elsewhere for processing? |

I think there are better ways for them to weed out the trolls and no-good applications than subjecting everyone to a 10 month wait. I understand they may be inundated with tons of applications and all applications have to be processed, so it can be demoralizing as a VO to open an application and see dubious content and for several applications on end. So to discourage such people from even applying they delay all the applications?. While I support a thorough process, I think whatever they are doing in those 10months to admit the right people could be achieved in far less but even if they have genuine reason to wait this long, they should let us know this time frame officially prior to application. I mean someone here was rejoicing recently on receipt of good news of his family reunification saying he couldn’t wait to hold his son in his arms for the first time since he was born. Im sorry but If I were in his shoes, I would be upset, cos after a 10 month wait, I would have already missed his first walking steps or learning to call me dada. These are things you never get back and all because I was working and paying taxes (without recourse to public funds) to make Ireland a better country while such son was subjected to months without their father cos somehow someone with same country as daddy’s passport decided to shoplift cereal funds at the benefits center. If they really care about children they should find better ways to kick out the bad eggs instead of making us all suffer. Perhaps set a 20 year rule before Nigerians can claim benefits. I don’t think the genuine Nigerians care about any benefits, we just want to work hard, pass through this life and have the ones dearest to us by our side at all times. Many of us or family members have exceptionally clean records in other host countries before coming to Ireland and to be painted with the same brush as the majority of benefit hunters that hold the same passport is grossly unfair. Why subject us all to this grueling torture? You can’t treat a person unfairly because he holds the same passport as a few psychos. There are psychos in every country. Nigerians have also contributed immensely to Ireland’s growth over the years where is our kudos for that? Why focus on the negatives to make life difficult for those who intend to help grow the country? Secondly, If they made this information about a 10 month wait clear on the Irish embassy websites in Nigeria perhaps we would know what to expect and so plan on how to keep our families sustained within that time frame rather than getting disorganized due to being given an unrealistic expectation of reunification and being kept in the dark about its progress. . 7 Likes |

This is indeed disheartening. Imagine having to pay outrageous flight ticket fare to Nigeria to visit family because we can’t fly elsewhere on holidays due to spouse’s passport being held for months at the embassy in Abuja. Is there anyone here in government who could talk to the Ambassador about doing something? I don’t suppose this wait is due to Covid anymore. 1 Like |

If you think this is bad. Try opening a bank account in Ireland. I think these folks are clearly passing a message that they don’t care about us. Period. Best look elsewhere like UK or another country. I’m gonna leave Ireland for good if they don’t get my wife’s visa after 6 months. Total joke of a process. |

There is a petition I saw online https://www.change.org/p/irish-embassy-in-nigeria-family-unification-for-nigerian-and-ghanian-critical-skills-nurses-holders-in-ireland?utm_content=cl_sharecopy_30119010_en-GB%3A4&recruited_by_id=a8d98330-36ae-11ed-bd4b-5994e1d14d3b&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&share_bandit_exp=initial-30119010-en-GB |

What if the applications are sent to Dublin via a super slow postal service? Last week a Zimbabwean dropped a testimony on fb that his family just got theirs after they submitted on July 18. We have to do something. Do we even have an ambassador to Ireland at all? If there is, what are they doing? It’s senseless waiting for JF visas for months, while even Zimbabwe with Mugabe-incurred international sanctions gets JF visas way faster than we can. 1 Like |

Tiry87:Your employer should apply and pay for the work permit on your behalf. I too had to check all of that information for them, luckily they had some persons who had gone through similar in the past when relocating to Ireland, so any changes to the system were not much. Though the time taken before these permits are issued could be a bummer. The work permit to apply for would depend on if you are employed as a critical skills worker (which means you would require a critical skills permit) or a general skills worker (a general work permit). The differences in rules and timelines for each of these types of permits differ significantly and are quite comprehensive. So I would enjoin you to visit Irishimmigration.iE website to know where your role belongs; on the Home Screen click on this (pictured below; choose work), you will get all the information you need by following the prompts and answering the questions. You can provide this information from the site to your employer. As for the visa, you will have to apply in Nigeria by yourself after you have obtained your work permit. 3 Likes 1 Share

ICaSNg:Thanks a lot for your reply and yes it was all legit. In these 2 years, can I enter and leave multiple times as I please, or is there some restriction of some sort? cos I read on their site (screenshot below) something to do with not for frequent visits. Like how long or frequent could be considered living a long period of time?

Hi everyone, please for those who have visited UK from Ireland, know someone who has, or lived there before moving, please help me answer this. So I recently moved to Ireland from Nigeria for work, but have lived in UK for a long time (8+ years) and would like to go to UK to visit friends. I understand I may need a visit visa for that. How do I apply for a UK visit visa from Ireland as a Nigerian and how long would the process take? Costs? And also how many months/years visa do you think I would get on it? |

scholesy18:Dublin is currently processing applications received in February. I am of the opinion that Abuja office sends the applications to DUBLIN for processing. So probable outcome would depend on how long before the application is sent from Abuja to Dublin |

URGENT Please for those who moved to Ireland for work, how do you register for a bank account? My employer provided temporary hotel accomodation and I dont have access to any utility bills from the hotel for use in opening the bank account. Please what are my options? |
