I am sorry to bore you with a little bit of an issue i and my siblings seem to have.

I hail from SE nigeria (where most of you refer to as the biafran enclave). I with all my siblings were born around lagos, been around lag for about 75% of my life.

Here is why i wrote this piece. I and my siblings find it difficult to speak our dialect i.e igbo also(yoruba #Birthdialect) but we understand 70% or more of both languages. Anytime we try speaking it, it doesn't seem to work speechwise and i think it a problem in a setting as Nigeria where...

I would like to know if someone here has sometime had an issue like this and how he/she managed to change it.

Most importantly he drives this home as touching the teaching of the Word

Study means to be diligent and eager
The opposite is to be apathetic .
English Dictionary defines apathy thus.lack of interest, concern,
lack of concern about, unconcern about, apathy about/towards, nonchalance about, lack of interest in, disregard for, obliviousness to, uninvolvement in/with
Place side this with the attitude to bible study of many a Christian ,pastor and you should be shells shocked
Jesus in one of his rebukes in revelation given to john shows his disavowal with such bad attitude

So,having top positions in the society ,owning real estate isn't proof of nothing spiritually ,
Such men were referred to as apathetic spiritually .
It's in many charismatic churches ,you will find normally mentally and academically thoroughbred individuals go apathetic with scriptures .
They won't read ,study and meditate .
This apathy is why on social media folks like and comment on posts without thinking through ,
It's lack of interest .
Same folks will do hours of Board meetings to arrive at decisions ,management meetings etc but lazily read spiritual materials .
It's lack of concern .
And many preachers know it and use it to their own advantage .
Do you know why many preachers don't do thorough study ?
They know you don't demand for it !
They quote scriptures anyhow ,because they know you won't check it .
And anytime anyone puts them to question ,they appeal to your laziness and indolence ..
" they are critical,they want to pull other ministries down "
And if you are African,with a " they are doing me mentality and superstition " you fall for the bait .
Rather than take responsibility for teaching falsehood ,we bait the apathetic ," they don't respect elders" ,
it will work in africa ,Nigeria very well .
Respect and honor are scriptural truths ,but as I said scriptural .
We are told to disrespect collecting dollars for blessings .

Contrary to some misguided opinions ,it's not those who insist on proper bible interpretation who cause strife,rather it's these men who fleece the flock ,take money for prayers .
Paul says , MARK them and AVOID them .
But the apathetic will never see this ,hence his support for sentiments .

They are 28 warnings in Pauls letters against twisting scriptures and misrepresenting the gospel ,no letter of paul is devoid of these warnings .
Jesus gave 18 warnings against false teachers .
Peter had 7, James 3, Jude 2, writer of Hebrews 3, john 7,book of revelation 9
So how does taking heed to this be labeled strife
That's how the apathetic will see it .
Let me cite a simple example ..
" speak the truth in love "
Are you familiar with this covert use of scriptures to divert attention ?
They don't deny its the truth but they claim " the language ",you might lose your audience
They might need to counsel Jesus who sure filled his sermons with terms like " stupid ,idiotic,perverse ,senseless
Or paul or peter ..,and they were referring to believers both under their watch and fellows ministers .
Or are you surprised its in the Bible? A sign of apathy .
Now let's examine the speak the truth in love mantra

Apathy might make you see this scripture otherwise till you read the pretext

He called men " cunning ,crafty "and referring to their ways as sleight ,and He's talking about teachers !

He's describing teachers and with such strong terms
He asked him to stop them !in meekness but stop them !
Timothy is to WARN believers about such men .

The apathetic won't see this ..
He would rather believe paul was judgemental ,teaching a young minister to disrespect other ministers ..

Let me end with a counsel I gave a younger minister who suddenly became an advocate for peddlers of error ,
He tried to drive me into his warped psychological box ,
He admitted false visions ,filthy lucre ,twisting scriptures by one of his sworn heroes ,but told me ,it still doesn't matter ,let's " walk in love "
I asked him if he could say that when he stands before Jesus..
You don't get it !
No one is picking faults ,we all make errors ,and learn ,myself more ..,no perfection at all.
This isn't about our human faults ,weakness or ignorance ..
It's about the sanctity of scriptures ,and not using the gospel to achieve Personal fiefdoms and ambitions
That's not a mistake ,that's peddling !
To the apathetic ,I pray you become Fervent and diligent with scriptures ,stop doing camps,
This isn't about a new move or wave ,or some struggling for national prominence ,or nation wide mantles
That's a rat race which a sincere preacher should be disinterested in..
This is about preserving the truth and sanctity of the gospel
If Luther had been silent and followed the ignoble path many tread today ,who knows?
Europe a bastion for the gospel fell for this apathetic Christianity ,preserving images ,empires and fiefdoms ,but allowed the gospel be disrespected and twisted till it was too late ,
This must be avoided in Nigeria and Africa..
It can ,if you and I take our pastors to scrutiny on their teachings and visions ,and reject apathetic Christianity ..
When they know you will study scriptures and be diligent too ,they become more careful
Then there will be hope
It can and it should be done .

BEFORE YOU PRAY FOR A SPOUSE ..

When you choose to pray over a matter scripture clearly instructs you on ,you are mischievously living in disobedience .

For example ,before you start praying whether a brother or sister is " Gods will " for you in marriage ,kindly know it's really up to you .

Paul gives just one admonition in this regard

1 Corinthians 7:39 KJV
[39] ..she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

This rules out none believers .

To marry ONLY in The Lord ,has no specific person called Gods will but rather specific issues you consider before settling for any .

You didn't receive any brother or sister as an inheritance in Christ to be married to ,so several can fit into or not fit in..

As earlier said ,the non believer is totally out .

A licentious person who lives like a non believer and in open sin.
It's no need praying over it whether he or she is the right person .
They are not .
Also ..those with false doctrines or better still have varying spiritual convictions

An un accountable brother or sister is a no no even if he or she posts scriptures regularly on Facebook .

Who see money as godliness .They can't be right choices too.

Paul contextually was dealing with doctrine .
Marry someone with the same doctrinal persuasion .

This is without prejudice to other natural issues like cultural ,academic ,physical,pursuits compatibility etc which require common sense not prayers .

You can open your eyes and ears and take note of these .
However ,before you start praying or fasting or asking your prayer contractors for prophecies ,open your heart to Gods word clearly written .

Then you will see if its Gods will or not .
