Hi Deeshe! I changed jobs but did not inform CIC....until request for Schedule A. I believe that the change in employment referred to in the link you shared is relevant for CEC applicants because that change directly affects the application.

Deeshe1:
thanks alot Jollyjols, if you are convinced that people have the same experience and re in Canada today then i won't bother.

cheers.

Oh well...i hope this works.....first time poster.....Siaman, Association of silent readers....

I started typing my story on the 26th of June, but work & other commitments delayed the conclusion.
I hope I eventually get to post this as I don’t have an account on NL yet and procrastination have been a tight buddy on this matter. However, remembering how heartwarming the success stories I have read here have been, I will do my very best to eventually share; better late than never eh? I will trrrrrrryyyy to be very brief because as I am playing the tape in my head, it seems like it’s going to be a long one.
It’s CPR or as we call it COPR!!!!!
Actually, we have received our passports already o, but Accra just sent the Visa Cover letter today (June 26).
Timeline:
IELTS – December 2018
After months of feet dragging, my spouse and I registered and wrote the test. I had previously combed the thread for the precious tips & tricks shared by the elders. I jotted the tips and read them like the Bible for several days. After I got the hang of them, I started reading the assessment criteria for each section of the test.
For listening, I used several online test sites for practice. I initially had problems with the last two sections because I used to tune out and I will miss most of the answers. But with continuous practice, I eventually got 8.0.
For Speaking, I watched a lot of band 9 videos online and also Jay’s video where he shared the PPF model. Interestingly, one of the topics discussed in the Band 9 videos was actually my Task 2 writing question!
On the speaking day, I prayed to get a man (someone had opined that having the opposite gender as your examiner was more favourable) alas, I got a woman!!! Chai! My heart started racing and I became nervous. It took me a while to comport myself and I was eventually able to go with the flow. At a time, we were talking (or rather I was lol!) about the weather and how unpredictable it had become and I was seriously trying to remember ‘global warming’ to boost my vocab scores but I couldn’t remember the words for the life of me! Incidentally, the examiner then asked me why the weather has become unpredictable, I just told her “I don’t know” with a straight face and continued the conversation. I did this so as not to become fixated on remembering that I will now lose my train of thought entirely! I sha ended up with 7.5 in speaking.
For reading, despite it being my fave, I practiced a lot!!!! I didn’t want to get a low score on what I was good in; I did get 9.
For Writing, I really did not practice much, but I thoroughly went through and understood the criteria and I read lots of sample essays. I have an “oriyomi” score – 7.
ECA – ICES
Those were the good days of ICES beating its set deadline of 10 weeks, I got mine in 4 weeks while my spouse got his in 5 weeks. An interesting thing was that copies of our reports were also sent to us in Nigeria even though we filled the address of a friend in Canada for the two copies. Months after we had submitted our e-Apr, we discovered the mailed reports in the mailbox in front of our house. Apparently, they had been there for a while, but we didn’t notice because we weren’t expecting anything.

Medicals
This was done in IOM and we spent the entire day there 7.30am – 5pm!!! Gosh, I was so upset!!! If not for the late day given by Q-life and we wanted to submit on time, we would have gone with Q-life.
PCC
T’was done by a random officer at their forensic department and we paid N4k each even though the officer wanted to tax us for more.
POF
Chai! This one ehn!!!! I didn’t know why I had it in my head that a family of three required N8.5m o! See how we were looking for money upandan, that we even delayed entering the pool. Eventually sha, we had more than enough…over-POF come dey worry us.
Documents Uploaded

PCC – uploaded the three pages.
International Passport – we all just renewed our passports, so we uploaded only the bio-data page of the new passport. We did not bother with the markings on the old/expired ones.
Proof of Studies – IELTS report, ECA, MSc. Certificate, BSc. Certificate, WAEC certificate. These were all merged into one document.
Change of name – Marriage certificate, sworn affidavit & newspaper publication.
ITA – Jan. 2019
AOR – Feb. 2019
MEP/BIL – Apr. 2019
I had promised myself that I wouldn’t check my profile more than once a month, for where?? I was checking it every week! One of the random days of checking, I caught a ghost update. I mulled raising a CSE afterwards, but my spouse encouraged me to chill. I did chill for a day or two…..but while reading my beloved NL thread, I saw the CSE link Topsmamen shared…ha! this is a sign o…I told myself & quickly raised the CSE using the format someone had shared in one of the Whatsapp group I was in. Got a reply like 5 days later, eligibility started, V.O – Accra. I said it’s ok, I will stop checking my phone for the golden mail when I wake to pee at night.
Alas, the golden notification came 2 days after!!! It dropped in my account as an advice to check my CIC account for a message. I actually thought it was probably an ADR and was bracing myself when I saw “Request Letter”!!!! Oh, the joy!!!!
CSE raised – May 22, 2019
PPR – May 30, 2019
Passport submission – first working day in June. The required Schedule A was uploaded through the placeholder provided on the account.
While going through the chats on NL, I read about someone that made a mistake on the Schedule A wrt question 6. I did not see that question fa! Are these people using another Schedule A ni I had to go through the questions 6 again and discovered that I only read and responded to the first part of question 6d. We had answered “no” to all the question 6 items. My spouse entered panic mode….eh, this is misrepresentation, ha…this & that….I was very calm about it and just jejely wrote a LOE and corrected the error. The LOE + corrected schedule A were uploaded via CSE.
My client information placeholder was always behaving like ogbanje! One day it will be there, when you want to then use it, it will disappear. On one of the nights it reappeared, I quickly uploaded the LOE + corrected schedule A again.
Anyhoo, project monitoring the account began in full swing and for the most part the account was showing “your action is required” meaning that the initial schedule had not even been processed…we were sha praying. God cannot come and leave us at the final lap of the journey.
Then a lady that submitted her passport after ours shared about her application’s approval. I rushed to my profile and only caught a ghost update. Afterwards, it was showing application submitted.
A day after, I checked again and saw application approved!!!! Halleluyah!!! Tears welled up in my eyes instantly about how surreal it was! We waited for two more work days before going to pickup our passports. VFS did not notify us that the passports were ready for pickup..we just went on a hunch.
The joy when you see your returned passports and CPR is inexplicable…I pray for everybody waiting at one milestone or the other…what God has done for others, He will do for you & more! Hold on, your testimony is coming soon!
Thank you to everybody that contributes on this precious thread, both the question askers and the responders, God bless you all.
Whew!!! I did want to be brief ……oh well, I tried! Lol!!!
