Based on PMs I got from my last post, I’d like to clarify and explain how the Education/Loan system works according to my little experience. Please note, everything below is from personal exposure in Alberta and may not be 100% true for other provinces!

So obviously, the first thing to do is apply to a school. There are lots of schools around and preference can be based on field of study. E.g

-SAIT/NAIT for technical, business related and medical science courses
-Bow Valley College for Office management, Arts, Business related
-University of Calgary and University of Alberta for Bsc and Post-graduate
-Etc. Please avoid private colleges, it's not worth the tuition.

It is better to choose a course after adequate research (employment rate, entrance salary, job conditions etc). I know people who have gone to to school, finished and realized they wasted their time...and then start all over again, wasting money and precious years and sometimes accumulating over a hundred thousand dollars in student loan.

Minimum requirements for admission differ, could be a function of school / course. For instance, It’s SSCE for SAIT or in other cases you need Course by course evaluation.

Student Aid: There are two parts to this; student grant and student loan. Student grants are grants you dont have to pay back but you only qualify for them if you apply for student loan..student loan, you have to pay back in monthly installments six months after your studies. The tuition is paid directly to the school and balance paid to you. This balance is about 80% of living expense based on family size and its paid in lump sum.

E.g If your tuition and living expenses for a semester sums up to $10,000. Then tuition of eg $3000 is paid to the school and $7,000 sent to your account at the start of the semester. The percentage of this $10,000 that comes as grant depends on your family make-up, previous investment and family income (Those with children have upper hands here as they get more percentages of Grants)

So basically when you apply online, you would be asked to mail some documents and the school would be contacted to confirm your studentship before funds are dispersed.

Note: The requirement is, you must have been resident in the Alberta for 12months prior to applying. But if you are new to Canada and can prove that you have been resident in Alberta since your arrival in the country, you are eligible for the loan (you would need an ID card from Alberta to prove apply).

Another question is on how much you can combine with work. As a PR you dont have limitations on how many hours you are legally allowed to work. You can work to cover your basic living and keep the loan part of the money and refund once you are done with school and no longer require it. With weekend work and some sort of driving for small deliveries, you can make enough money to live within your means.

Hi,
I have been trying to send you a PM, don’t know why it’s bouncing back. Kindly send me one.
Thank you

It depends on many factors, I'd say land where you have people to help you integrate well, can't overemphasize that. But if you don't have anyone? look at where your experience is most likely to land you a job asap. I landed in Alberta.. You get health insurance on the same day you land once you register unlike ontario where you have to wait 3 months. Calgary has a good transit system, very pleasant to the eyes except for the Bipolar weather. Edmonton is less expensive, colder than calgary, I believe there are more jobs in Edmonton and more government job opportunities. Now When i landed in calgary I got a job 1 month after. Moved to edmonton and got 2 jobs within 2 months( I still carry my naija cert upandan) I've not done any studies here whatsoever. And if you are concerned about your kids, Children Adapt way faster than adults.

So Read up on both provinces(Ontario and Alberta) then make a decision.

Please can I PM you

In my opinion, the Southside is ideal for families. There's a Telegram group, you can join and get more answers to your questions there. Send me a PM so I can send you the link.

Please let them know - The cold here can kill somebody oh. Better spend money on a good accommodation. Don’t compromise because you would stick with that situation for 1 year.
Please trying to send you a message, need your opinion on something that has to do with interpreting my gcms notes. Thanks

What exactly do you do now? What will HR confirm as your job description/responsibilities?

Hi,
I still handle same schedule, but the HR said they only issue letter to embassies and anything outside the usual introduction letter won't be issued. The HR won't give letter with my duties on it. Planning to just attach the official schedule of duty given to me ( the one u said is class C).
What do I do and thank you so much for your swift response
