Thank you

For the rejections I’ve seen myself so far, it’s usually attached to the mail sent to the applicant especially for standard visitor applications. However, there might be exemptions.

Pls house,

Does UKVI always attach rejection letter to collection email if visa was refused?

Someone said that's what they have been doing in recent times.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by MamaGiovanni: 7:00pm On Jan 05, 2023
18 million naira is about 33k pounds. This is enough for a deposit on a house (about 15 % deposit if you're buying a £200k house for instance).

It is not enough for an outright payment for a property even a flat.

The major problem would be you securing a mortgage from the bank. It's not all about your deposit, several factors come into play:
1) the bank will want to prove the source of your deposit and make sure its not laundered money. If he money was not made in the Uk, difficult to prove

2) the bank would want to see your source of Income- job etc. If you're a student, might be difficult

3) proof of immigration, if you have a temporary visa ie not permanent residency or British citizenship, banks will view you as a risk and interest rates would be much higher.

In all, I don't believe in discouraging people, speak to a trusted mortgage advisor for further advice.

JaySterling:
Hi guys, I just moved to the UK In October for my PHD with my wife and 2 kids. I’m the main applicant and wife is dependent.

My two younger brothers are also coming in February for their masters with their wife’s
and kids

The 3 of us are planning on buying a property which would serve as a family house for 3 of us our wife’s and kids, instead of paying multiple rent.

We jointly have about 18M in Nigeria
Please can this be enough to serve as a down payment for a bungalow where we can spread the balance over the years in a mortgage plan.

Also, we are planning on putting all the funds (18M) into one account and send it to UK via form A. Would this be possible?

Please can someone advise me on the process for all this and guide us on what best to do to avoid mistakes

Please advise

Pls experts in the house @justwise and Co.

If I have my biometrics on 4th January, can I submit bank statements from 30th November (bank statements are printed at the end of the month) on my self service portal?

Or is it better to wait for my December bank statement to be released to make for the 31 day rule for bank statements?

Hi @MizMary, I'm in a similar boat...was her company active on CAC and did she get her visa

Also did you sponsor her fully?

Hope to hear from you soon

MizMary:
Hello gurus.
Pls I am getting worried ooo.
I applied for a visa renewal for my mum (a 2 yr visa) since the 28th of September but not received an outcome yet.
TLS centre was in VI and she has been to the UK twice on 6 month visit visas.
The problem is the I just checked the CAC public search tool t check if her business is still active, as I have been bothered by other people’s refusals, but I have not been able to find the business name.
Getting worried as this may be a refusal even though I am the one fully sponsoring the visit.
What do you guys think?
T for tenks!
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by MamaGiovanni: 9:54pm On Nov 13, 2022
Thank you so much for this!

Eddy4400:

I submitted the documents below, but note that they are both retirees. So upload docs to show proof of business evidence etc. Yes, you need to upload their bank statements as well, even though you're fully sponsoring them. Infact, I still explained large deposits in their accounts in an LOE with evidence attached.

1. Invitation letter from my sister (mentioned my mum & dad will stay with her family for the entire 1month, so accommodation & feeding is covered and they'll sponsor each of them with £1000 for flight to and fro UK)
2. Employment letter, 6month payslips, 6months bank statements showing monthly pay from work for both my sister and her husband. My sister's salary bank statement was low, so I added her 6months savings account statement
3. House ownership docs for my sister & husband, council tax bill, utility bill (water)
4. My sister's birth certificate, pictures of her & family with my dad&mum as evidence of relationship, her marriage certificate, BRP card and passport datapages for her entire family
5. My mum's retirement letter, Pension Annuity letter, 6months savings account where her pension gets deposited, their marriage certificate
6. My dad's 6months savings account showing pension deposits, no retirement letter though...explained in his own LOE that it's missing as he retired over 20years ago, their marriage certificate
7. Under additional docs, uploaded documents to show proof of strong ties to Nigeria (brief LOE written listing docs)....my brother's birth certificate as proof they have a child in Nigeria, current picture of mum & dad with brother, his wife and kids, land property documents, proof of TBills Investment maturing next year
8. Mum & Dad's Nigerian Passport, all old passports and stamped visa pages for all visas old/new

This is all I can remember, but I think I covered all docs I uploaded

Pls which documents did u submit? I need help and guidance to apply for my parents?

Eddy4400:
To encourage those worried about the wait times (like I was, travel date planned for Dec 3rd), just apply. Regular standard visit visa by the way (2years) for my parents, both retired. Not their 1st time applying

Biometric- Oct 26th
Ready for collection email- Nov 9th
Delivered by courier - Nov 11th

Hello everyone,

I live in the UK and am trying to apply for my parents to come and visit for 2 weeks early next year.

Ages 62yrs/72yrs, both are self employed and own businesses in Nigeria.

I will be fully sponsoring both of them but was told I would need to include their own account statement also.

Problem Is both use their business accounts for transactions, they don't pay salary into their personal accounts, they withdraw from the business accounts instead for their personal use.

Both business accounts are fully registered with CAC and have tax returns.

My question is can I submit the business accounts on their behalf?

My own account statement will be used as proof of funds.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by MamaGiovanni: 5:36pm On Jan 08, 2019
Wow. I'm shocked that your visa was denied even when maintenance was ticked on COS. Because it usually states 'maintenance for applicant and any dependents if applicable'.

Regarding the issue of money logdement in account, why don't you print out your bank statement in such a way that the opening statement starts from when the adequate money required reflected in the account. A few days or weeks of patience will go a long way.

Naiobi:
@mamagiovanni yes, it was ticked for the main applicant for our first application (we'd been told that would cover for all).

However, when the decisions on our applications came, mine and my child's were refused, but my partner was granted.

So, we'll be applying alone and plan to do so in a couple of weeks.

Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by MamaGiovanni: 5:04pm On Jan 08, 2019
was maintenance ticked on COS of main applicant?

Naiobi:
I just came across a thread where someone mentioned cash/money lodgment as grounds for visa refusal.

Thing is, my tier 2 dependent Visa was refused late last year because we didn't present a satisfactory maintenance letter to cover for my family (I am the dependent), we resorted to using a bank statement to support my next application.

Now, because my partner won't be applying with us (+child), we decided to use my own personal account which has my name in full as seen on my passport (we didn't use my other account which is more active because it has just my first and last name).

After reading about cash lodgment now, I am a little afraid that the ECO will likely have issues with the fact that the account didn't always have funds in it, just a few thousands here and there (prior to the commencement of the 90days).

We paid in the the total sum of the required maintenance cost for my child and I (plus a little extra to allow for fluctuating exchange rate), and are just waiting for the total of 90 days to be up before we reapply.

I just need to know if the cash lodgment will be a problem, so we don't go wasting money and time again and find another alternative.

Kindly advice.

Many thanks.

@greenfriend Pls when did you do your biometrics for your tier 2 visa and was it priority or standard?

Still waiting for mine, it's the 12th working day already.

Greenfriend:

I was in a similar state as you this time last year. But in addition to what U attached, I added a family picture and letter from both parents. And my passport was deflowered. Just collected my Tier-2 (Work) visa yesterday.
Anyway, every application is unique in its circumstances

No, you may not even receive the email until your visa is out. They are not consistent with that email.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by MamaGiovanni: 5:57pm On Dec 27, 2018
It's been 11 days since I did my biometrics and submitted my documents at TLS.

The TLS tracker shows received by UKVi but I'm yet to receive any email from UKVI decision making center in Sheffield confirming receipt of the application and saying it's been prepared for the ECO.

Other times, I got the email from Sheffield within a few days of biometrics.

Should I be worried? Or could the Christmas break be affecting the process.

Anyone in my shoes?

Hi @jennyhumphrey @justwise and any other experienced person here.

I want to apply for tier 2 visa for myself, hubby and kids.

I have a query regarding my first child's birth certificate. She's 4yrs old now, but I got her NPC birth certificate about a year ago when she was 3 yrs old. Prior to this time, we used her baptism card as proof of birth (it was gotten when she was a month old and contains her names and the names of us her parents).

I read that late birth certificate (over a year after birth) could raise eyebrows.

Note that my other child [sub][/sub]got her birth certificate within a year of birth.

I have sworn an affidavit in the high court stating that I'm her biological mother, and that the NPC issues birth certificate to children between 0 to 18 years.

I'm planning to include her baptism card, birth certificate, immunization card and the affidavit in her application.

Pls do you think it's okay? Or should I just submit only the birth certificate and pray no issues are raised?

The visa fees are to expensive to risk a rejection.

Pls prompt advise is needed here.

Thank you all.

jennyhumphrey:
I included an affidavit stating that I am his mother sworn at the high court, included more pictures from his birth till date( I included this in the first application but I don't know why they ignored it )addressed the reason why the birth certificate was obtained late in my additional information then included a cover letter explaining same in details, I gave example of my own birth certificate which was obtained late as the norm in the country and I also outlined how his welfare will be sorted in the UK in the cover letter. Also pray, pray and pray. All the best

Hello house, I am back to say thank you to all the wonderful people on this thread. My son's visa is out. He was denied at first and I applied exactly a week after I received his refusal note. I took the advice of ekpotek . I submitted same documents and upgraded the bank statements. I also addressed the initial refusal.

Timeline
Application submitted 31st August
Biometrics 4th September
Sheffo receipt email 10th September
TLS collection email 24th September at 2.30 pm
Received passport with visa 25th September at 2.46 pm

My observation, TLS VI centre more organised, less strenous and faster than ikeja.

Thank you @ekpotek, justwise and all the good people.

Congrats on your visa ma. I want to ask, are you planning on going for an academy course for the plab 2? There is this debate as to whether it's necessary to include an academy or not in the application. Also, if one was to start saving strictly because of the visa, how much do you think it's appropriate to start with as the opening account?

Thanks

I didn't put academy cos academy is not accredited for visa issuing basis as plab visa is not a student visa. To avoid Wahala. Also if you mention academy, you should have much more money in your account as your stay is longer. What most doctors do is, if you're finally issued for 6 months, you can travel earlier and attend the academy in person, but if you're given a shorter duration visa, you can do an online academy course.

A lot of doctors are mentioning academy these days and are still being given visa. Sometimes it backfires, most times it doesn't. But you must have a lot of money in your account to mention academy.

Start planning early more than 6 months ahead for the visa. Tidy your account. You should have more than twice or thrice the budget for your trip in your account.

If you don't have enough money, look for a sponsor.

I know someone who had about 900k in his account and was given. He did not have a sponsor. He earns about 250k monthly. Put his monthly expenses at 65k monthly... and budgeted £800 for the trip of 4 days. Note that £800 is about N400k. So the trio cost less than his 2 months salary.

It all depends on the ECO.

Visit www.naseersjourney. for more details. It caters specifically to plab. Nairaland was helpful to me also cos it dealt with the peculiar problems of Nigerians. So go through the pages thoroughly.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by MamaGiovanni: 11:34am On Apr 07, 2018
@gazalito @bogolobango

I applied for a business visa for plab exam

I submitted the following documents:

Reason for travelling:
- short cover letter explaining why I need to travel to write the exam-plab 2 is done only in the UK. No other place.

- email from the body inviting me for professional exam
- email congratulating me for previous step exam pass taken here in Nigeria
- educational certificates (ielts, university degree certificate, certificate of registration with professional body in Nigeria, nysc certificate)

Finances.
I sponsored myself. So I submitted :
-Letter of introduction from my employer stating my position, start date of job, salary after tax and any bonuses entitled to, duration of leave , reason for leave, date of resumption at work
- 6 months salary slips
- 6 months bank statement. Only credits came from my salary to avoid unnecessary explanations. I put all my savings in my salary account prior to the 6 months to avoid unnecessary explanations too. So I presented only one bank account .

Previous travel history.

I had been to the UK about 5 yrs ago on a student visa for a short course, so I submitted the certificate issued to me after the course.
- photocopy of previous passport with the tier 4 UK visa issued then. And the bio data page
- I also visited the UAE with my husband a few years ago, so I also put a phocopy of the stamps on my previous passport and the bio data page.

Domestic ties back home.
In my cover letter I explained that I was able to save a lot of my salary over the past few years because my hubby was the main breadwinner of the family who took care of our family expenses.

- marriage certificate
- wedding pictures
-children's birth certificate
- 3 family pictures of hubby, me and kids
- photocopy of my husband's international passports bio data page
- letter of introduction from hubby's employer stating his salary for past 6 months, position, duration of employment
- hubby's bank statement for 6 months (he had some unexplained credits less than 100k here and there, but since he was not my sponsor, we didn't explain it)
- hubby's land documents
- consent letter from hubby stating he'll be with the kids while I travel

Evidence of home
- tenancy agreement in hubby's name
-rent receipt paid by hubby

Itinerary.
- I booked a cheap hostel (all female room) for £55.5 for 3 days
- I booked a provisional flight ticket with Klm, cost £541. I wrote in my cover letter that I'll pay once my visa is granted.

Total budget for trip was £760. Duration of stay: 3 nights

My salary is N140k. My budget was almost 3 x my salary but I had x 4 of my budget in my salary account.

I hope this helps someone esp doctors applying for visa for plab exam.

I'm not an authority on this matter, but I think you should involve a lawyer and if possible take legal actions.

I printed out my bank statement on the 1st of March and submitted my online application on the same day, however, the earliest appointment date for biometrics and submission, I could get was 9th march.

Should I print out another bank statement or is an 8 day old one okay?

Good evening @justwise @ekpotek and everyone

As proof of employment, must I submit my employment offer letter given at start of job ?

Or

Will letter of introduction from my employer detailing my position, income, duration of job and leave suffice? Together with payslips and bank statement

Also, I traveled to the UK in 2011 on a student's visa, at the POE, I wrote my uncles address as the place I was staying. We were not asked where we'll stay on the tier 4 visa form, we just needed to show we have enough money for Maintenance.
Do I need to put my uncle as part of relatives in the UK? though on the GOVUK site, the only options are for immediate family such as parents and siblings.

I'm booking a hotel for the trip.

Thank you very much.

.

Saving does not necessarily means unspent fund in a bank. Savings could also means fund that are avaliable to you such as stocks, fixed deposits, etc. If there a unspent fund in your salary account, this does not equate to savings. Your saved fund should be in your saving bank account and must be consistent over the past 6 months.

Thank you. It is quite confusing and I've heard different opinions.

Pls I need some advice in filling the confusing part of savings in the accessuk online application.

I have about £4000 saved over time from my salary income. It's in the same account where my salary is paid monthly. Do I declare it as savings? I know someone who was recently refused on account of this issue.

The person had some unspent money in her salary current account. But put in the application that she had no savings. One of the reasons she was refused was that she didn't declare any savings.
