[exactly my thoughts.

Religion / Re: Cardinal Okpaleke Visits Imo State (Photo) by Mario93: 11:18am On Sep 08, 2022
A blessing it is indeed for Nigeria to be given a new cardinal; congratulations to okpalaeke.

But then I beg to differ on the mbaise issue. Let's be constructive in our criticism. As much as the office of the pope bears infallibility in all matters of doctrine and other catholic issues; should it be wrong for any other catholic faithful to voice out if there is a perceived sense of mis-direction in some decisions made by the Vatican.
Only those who really understand that the church in itself is highly political know that some issues are better left the way they are.
A lot of persons berate mbaise people for their decision stating the fact that decisions from the Vatican should not be contested.
Mind you, same issue occured in the SW where a bishop was rejected and a new diocese was created; as was done for okpalaeke (by creating ekwulobia diocese) after his rejection. If this was done in SW to calm the tides; should mbaise people be totally blamed. That mbaise was really wrapped in controversy that even Cardinal Onaiyekan washed his hand off the case. In response to a comment on SE unity by someone here, I agree with you that we are not united. Unity exists when common interests are respected. Imo won't be united cause orlu people feel only them should produce governor's (which has remained so for almost 20yrs). Aren't other regions qualified, they play the game of numbers for their interest, but spell out competence when their son wants to contest. Evidently, is hope more competent than ihedioha.
Someone made a statement that Anambra remain leaders of Igbo race, but should that be extended to the church if we claim to really serve Christ. I sight an example with the current suspension of the knights of st John in Nigeria by the supreme body in USA; this issue was birthed cause of the selfishness of an Anambra man who was the head in alignment with the then president of cbcn (an Anambra bishop). I chose to be specific with regions and names in this response, so we understand that unity can exist only if we respect each other despite our ethnicity/origin, religion, race, strata and find common grounds. Life is simple but we humans choose to complicate things due to selfishness.
Before we are quick to berate mbaise people let us look inward in our individual families, some of which are divided and try to know the cause of it's division which will most likely be linked to individual selfishness that births the desire to oppress others whom you feel can't challenge you. Some will argue it's survival instinct to rule and being on top but in the real sense it is pure wickedness.
Before we argue on religion (especially Christians) let us always ask ourselves this question; how would Christ have wanted it, not how would I have wanted it.
