Phones / Re: Nigerian Internet Service Providers (isps) And The Unlimited Data Sham. by markt: 6:45pm On May 22, 2020
Bottom line, NCC has to be more involved, anyway, I have tagged them on this write-up on Twitter. It might not make any difference but if we all take turns at throwing jabs at them maybe one-day they will want to do eye-service as most of their manner is in this country with the top organizations trying to save face. I could only tag a few of the ISPs can I have any more of their Twitter handles please.

Always extorting the masses, I remember back in the days when emails were introduced as a thing, to send an email or reply to an email was N150, to open the email box was the same charge and that didn't include paying for internet access at a cafe.

Then there should be a way to bring the regulators to book, even if we have to use social media as a tool against them. It's getting out of hand, the country is hard as it is and corporate giants are still milking the average to low people.

That was a one time experience!

This thread will make more sense to those who have need for a lot of data, (heavy data users).
Like me, they will probably agree that the Nigerian unlimited data as advertised by all the ISPs are a sham of some sort.

Why do people have to pay heavy for an advertised product only to be deceived by poor speed, poor equipment or even the worst one - speed throttling - Can you even believe it?
So I have tried a few of these providers and I think I'm truly disappointed.

First of, whilst in South Africa I found out I could select speed and pay for unlimited data without any throttling back. I paid as low as the equivalent of N7,500 per month and didn't pay for equipments as long as I renewed monthly.
In the UK, infact that one is going too far, because inside the buses and malls the free internet is unlimited although subject to usage policies to prevent fraud.

Back home in Nigeria, maybe there's something I need to be made to understand but all the service providers never give you actual value for money paid.

1. Spectranet was my first port of call, and I am made to pay an amazing N18,500 for the unlimited gold plan, which actually is beautiful till you hit the 100GB limit then you are throttled back. The catch is that, the data seems to run faster than expected and when you accost customer service and ask for a breakdown you realize you were truly duped but nothing is done. That company needs to be checked.

2. Ntel became an option but there customer experience and speed are nothing to write home about. I stand corrected! But ntel for the basic user, might make sense, but definitely not for the heavy users, the best I have gotten on ntel is close to 2mbps. (Not even perfect for Netflix streaming.) The new one they are doing is asking you to renew subscription via there staff. Feels like a scam.

3. Swiftng is now making their unlimited plan with a 3mbps come at a whopping N24k! Imagine! It's outrageous how they make so much money from something that should be more affordable. Their service can also be apologetic.

If you have tried smile network or other providers, please share your experience, I hear in Lagos Wifi.com.ng is a horrible experience as well.

I believe the NCC should wake up to doing their job and make it a better experience for the users. The mobile providers have good speed but you pay out of your nose if you need to use heavy data, never a good idea for heavy users.

My opinion!

Hi Geraldyne, it's unfortunate you find yourself in situation, going through your story seems you are in between delicate choices, more
Ike being between the devil and the deep blue sea!
In my opinion, cultism always has repercussions and if he truly has blood on his hands then that's even worse, but again love conquers all, you say he cried, it means there's a chance to save this guy from destroying himself, cos in my thinking he knows he's in the wrong line. That's the first step to repentance, admitting you are wrong.
Right, now our primary concern is your safety and if he truly loves you he will let you go. So this is my suggestion, just like we all know you can't stop a car speeding at 200km/hr with the handbrakes safely, except via gentle application of the brakes, so you will also cautiously and slowly ease yourself out of this relationship. Easiest way to kill a relationship is reduced communication.
Reach out to me if you need more enlightenment away from is forum.
Career / Re: Pilot Career by markt: 2:21pm On Nov 04, 2009
Imagine! Read that Akwa Ibom gov. was in a flight that was involved in a "near-miss" (nearly colliding with another plane in mid-air). The suspicion is that one of the planes did not have a TCAS (Transport Collision Avoidance System) or it was not working; How can that be?
How reckless are we going to get? We can as well cut off the wings of the planes in this country and allow them compete with cars, trailers and buses on the highway than have them fly without a TCAS, even most recent modern cars come with "proximity alert systems",
is it till we hear that two planes ran into themselves b4 the government or people responsible for aircraft certification on flight safety realize the gravity of danger abi do they now want passengers to start helping the pilot to look out for incoming planes by looking out of their windows?

Thanks for the upliftment!
I am not sure if airliners outside naija would willing take an International to train and work for them though i stand to be corrected! I have gotten so many schools writing to me trying to work me through the admission process, been shying away due to financial challenge but i know deep in my heart that before the end of this year i will leave for a flight school and by this time next year i would be a serving pilot.
One thing i can do for genuine pilot-wanna-be's (which i expect every person to do) is to keep you posted on positive developments as where a breakthrough lies for the actualiation of this dream. God will definitely pave a way for us!

@RDV and IVY,
I am truly impressed that you guys could share and help those of us aspiring to be pilots.
The challenges with this country requires Gods intervention o! Going through the internet i found out that most nations have airlines that PUBLICLY request for interested people to enroll for Pilot training programs, all these depend on the selection criteria. Places like India are in deep need of pilots and have alot of open support facilities for interested candidates.
Back here, we hide adverts because of some flimsy excuse(though RDV threw a better light on this), if we need to grow in this country we must look for those who are genuinely interested in dealings and engage them.
I know that in Nigeria we have alot of opportunists that just dive into what seems to be reigning or where the money seems to be, but in flying you can't deceive people and yourself for too long, so if you are only into the flying fever only because of the benefits then you need a rethink - the idea should come from a true passion and desire to be in the skies.

As for me, i am still want to fly sponsors or no sponsors, i have shown my interest to some schools in florida and they have replied, all that holds me is to have the financial backing, which will come.
@IVY what flight school did/do you attend? and what license do you get to graduate with? are you going to fly in the country or outside and how long was/is your program? How long did it take you to get a visa

Hoping to work at getting into flight school before december, A WORD OF WISDOM - If all that stands between you and actualizing your dream is money then you are as good as actualized; Money will and must always come.
