The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a couple, Onyinmiebi (Miebi Baraza) and Beatrice Bribena, wanted.
An alert by the anti-graft agency urged persons with information about them to contact any of its offices across Nigeria.

The agency is searching for the duo over alleged fraud to the tune N2billion.

The Bribenas are the promoters of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.

“We are dedicated to improving members’ lives via financial empowerment, business financing, thrift & credit, housing, scholarship, etc”, its profile reads.



Bribena, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Bayelsa State, is pastor at Christ Embassy Church.

He is accused of scamming thousands of billions of naira after promising a 25 percent Return on Investment (ROI) monthly.

In 2021, the victims repeatedly visited the company’s headquarters on Otiotio Road in Yenagoa to seek a refund. The EFCC has sealed the building.

The company also has branches in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers capital, and some other parts of the country.

Baraza had informed investors it was trading with their money on forex platforms but stopped after it could no longer pay returns.

Last July, Bribena released a video to debunk speculations that his health and business were failing.

Two Rivers State delegates – Onimiteim Vincent and Barrister Prince Loveday Motats – who participated in the just concluded Presidential Primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja have lost their lives in an auto crash.

The two delegates lost their lives on their way back to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.

The Sienna they were travelling in reportedly collided with another vehicle.

One of the victims was said to have died on the spot while the other was taken to an unknown hospital where he died.
APC governorship flagbearer in Rivers State, Pastor Tonye Cole, confirmed the tragic incident.

He said the deceased were loyal servants of the APC in Rivers, adding that he had developed a bond and friendship with them.

“We lost these gems in an accident heading back from the presidential primaries, in yet another painful sacrifice for a democratic nation. My heart and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this difficult time.

The United Nations Children's Fund has said that Nigeria is off the track in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 4 which is quality education.



The international agency's representative, Saadhna Panday-Soobrayan said this yesterday June 9, at the Transforming Education Summit organised by the National Universities Commission in Abuja.

Soobrayan also said that the Coronavirus pandemic exacerbated the fragility of Nigeria’s education systems which was already struggling with poor access to quality learning and low resilience to shock.



She said;



“Additionally, frequent attacks on schools – including abduction of children, who should always be safe in school, has also resulted in prolonged school closures and is contributing to high rates of out of school children and low learning outcomes."

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu on his own part said the education curriculum being developed would focus on skills and entrepreneurship to enhance the employability of graduates.

The Federal Government has linked the members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) to the attack on the St. Francis Catholic church in Owo, Ondo State on Sunday, June 5th.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this while briefing state house correspondents after a meeting of the National Security Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today June 9th.

He said the government had been able to locate the perpetrators of the Owo attack and zeroed in on ISWAP terrorist group.

The minister, who briefed journalists alongside Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, said security agencies had been directed to go after the perpetrators of the act and bring them to justice.


The minister said the group was out to pitch Nigerians against one another and make it appear as ethno-religious war.

He said there was no ethnic agenda in the attack, urging Nigerians to unite and defeat the terrorists.

In a small clinical trial, 18 patients took the drug Dostarlimab for six months, and all of them had their cancer vanished.

A small clinical trial discovered that every single rectal cancer patient who got an experimental treatment saw their disease vanish, in what looks to be a miracle and a "first in history". According to the New York Times, 18 patients took a medicine named Dostarlimab for six months in a limited clinical trial done by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and all of them saw their tumours shrink at the end.

Experts stated that the malignancy is undetectable by physical examination, endoscopy, positron emission tomography or PET scans, or MRI scans. This shows that Dostarlimab has the potential to be a 'possible' cancer cure for one of the most lethal tumours.

This is "the first time this has happened in the history of cancer," according to Dr. Luis A. Diaz J. of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dostarlimab is a medicine made in a lab that functions as a surrogate for antibodies in the human body, according to specialists.

According to the New York Times, individuals in the clinical experiment previously received treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and invasive surgery, all of which could cause bowel, urinary, and sexual dysfunction. The 18 patients expected to have to go through these surgeries as the next step in the research. However, they were surprised to learn that no more therapy was required. Experts were astounded by the trial's outcomes, stating that total remission in every single patient is "unheard-of."

Dr Alan P. Venook, who is a colorectal cancer specialist at the University of California, said that the complete remission in every single patient is "unheard-of". He hailed the research as "world-first".

Experts praised the study because not all of the participants experienced serious side effects from the medication trial.

"There were a lot of happy tears," said Oncologist Dr Andrea Cercek, describing the moment patients found out they were cancer-free as quoted by New York Times.

According to doctors, the patients, during the trial, took Dostarlimab every three weeks for six months. "It is noteworthy that they were all in similar stages of their cancer. The cancer was locally advanced in the rectum but had not spread to other organs," added doctors.

"At the time of this report, no patients had received chemoradiotherapy or undergone surgery, and no cases of progression or recurrence had been reported during follow-up,' researchers wrote in the study published in the media outlet.

According to cancer researchers who studied the medicine, it appears to be promising, but a larger-scale trial is required.

Following the worsening insecurity in Abia state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered herders and settlers residing inside the forests around Umunneochi Local Government Area, to vacate immediately.
It would be recalled that the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, Samuel Uche, was kidnapped alongside the Bishop of Owerri Diocese and the Prelate’s chaplain on Ihube-Leru-Isuochi Road in Umunneochi LGA. The victims were released after payment of N100 million ransom.

The new directive was contained in a statement issued by the State Information Commissioner, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, on Sunday, June 5.

The statement said the directive was consequent upon the fact-finding visit of the governor to the scenes of incessant kidnappings and killings in Umunneochi Local Council of the state and interactive sessions he has been having with Umunneochi leaders, stakeholders and security agencies.

The Governor also directed that cows and herders operating in the area are restricted to the Cattle Market at Umuchieze until a final decision is reached concerning the menace in the Cattle Market.

“Arising from the extensive interactive sessions which His Excellency Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has been having with Umunneochi Leaders, Stakeholders and Security Agencies, he hereby directs as follows:

1.That the Commissioner of Police Abia State alongside with Umunneochi Youths provide immediate Security along the Ihube to Isuochi Road stretching from Ngodo through Lomara Junction all the Way to Ihube.

2.Upon the implementation of the above directive The Governor directs the Chairmen of Umunneochi LGA, Chief Ifeanyi Madu to open the Road leading from Ihube through Lomara Junction to Ngodo Isuochi immediately.

3.The Commissioner of Police, Abia State has been mandated to draw up logistic requirements for mounting six additional check points at strategic locations across Umunneochi LGA.

Presidential candidate on the platform of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has extended condolences to the family of the victims of the attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, which left scored dead.

Obi, in his reaction on Sunday via his verified twitter handle, noted that the incident further demonstrated that Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state.

Eyewitnesses said, “Parts of the altar POP caved in as the gunmen shot many worshipers.

“Blood stains were on the floor of the church as corpses were moved to the Federal Medical Centre and St Louis Catholic Hospital, Owo.”

Youth from across the nation who converged on Kaduna under the aegis of Nigeria Youth Collective Action to deliberate on the 2023 Presidential election, have vowed never to vote for any presidential candidate above 55 years old come 2023.

This was part of the communique from a 2-day interactive session on the 2023 Presidential Election by the Nigerian Youth Collective Action held in Kaduna between June 2nd and 3rd June 2022.

Aliyu Muhammad Sani, Director of Communications of the Nigerian Youth Collective Action, said at a press conference in Kaduna on Friday that arising from a Two-Day Interactive Session of the Nigerian Youth Collective Action, participants, speakers, discussants, and delegates reached a consensus on deepening social, political and economic participation of the young people through inclusion and deliberate mainstreaming, and most importantly, creating opportunities for young people, in the coming 2023 Presidential election, in line with the Not Too Young to Run Law, of the country.

He said the session recognized that Nigeria is a country with more than 70% of its population below the age of 50 years. And that youthfulness fuels huge energy capable of delivering sustainable prosperity to the over 200 million Nigerians if well harnessed and rightly targeted.

A 39-year-old man, Niyi Adeyemo, has accused his wife, Jumoke Bamgbola, 38, of beating him to a pulp during a disagreement at their residence on Love-All Street, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos State.
Adeyemo, who was said to be suffering from arthritis, was admitted to a hospital after the alleged assault which happened on Monday.



PUNCH Metro gathered that the marriage, which was consummated in 2018, hit the rocks in 2019.

Adeyemo, who spoke to our correspondent from a hospital bed where he was receiving treatment, said his marriage crashed after his mother visited their home and his wife objected to it because she did not like his family visiting him.

This, he claimed, led to their separation.


He said his wife’s demand for a divorce became intense when she returned from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in January 2022.

He said:-
“Bamgbola stormed my house on May 30, 2022, around 11am and asked me why I had not been picking up her lawyer’s phone calls. I refused to respond and she said that I must talk to her because she came prepared for me.

“I tried walking away, but she dragged me back and tore my native attire specially sown for my late mum’s burial and became violent.



“She started throwing punches at me all over my body, especially on my legs because she is aware of my health condition. She tossed me around the house and kept saying that she would make sure I was admitted to a hospital.

“She also dragged my private parts and bit my hands as I tried to prevent her from biting my manhood. I deliberately stopped myself from hitting her like I was advised. So, I telephoned her dad and put it on phone speaker; her dad called out her name, but she refused to respond or listen to him.
“Her dad asked me to leave the house, but I couldn’t, as she locked my neck with my torn clothes and said that I must give her a divorce. I passed out as a result of the severe pain and later found myself in a hospital.

“My wife’s demand for a divorce became intense when she arrived from Dubai early this year. While she was in Dubai, we resolved our differences through video calls and made plans to relocate from where I stayed. But she suddenly changed and began comparing me with another man she met over there.

“She came back in January 2022 and requested to lodge at a hotel in the Lekki area of Lagos so as to self isolate because of Covid-19 to avoid virus infection on our son. Apparently, she came back to Nigeria with a boyfriend with whom she had arranged to spend the night in the hotel.

“I telephoned her several times, but she refused to receive my calls and when I used other people’s mobile phones to call, she cut off the calls after she heard my voice.

“She once telephoned me and said that only our child bound us together and I would be powerless after she took away our child. She later threatened to kill me with her bare hands if I didn’t give her a divorce because her boyfriend said that he could not marry someone who was married with a child.

“The matter has been reported at the Ketu Police Station, but she is yet to be arrested as she has gone into hiding.”

Reacting, Bamgbola said she filed for a divorce and her husband was served, but he refused to honour the court invite.

She said, “I went to the court on Monday to see the lawyer and he complained that my husband had not been picking up his calls or from my mum as well and I telephoned him, but he kept pleading with me that he did not want a divorce and that he had been suffering from anger disorder.

“He admitted that he allowed a third party in our marriage and that he was sorry. The lawyer told me that I had to see my husband and make him understand what I wanted because of our only child.

“So, I went to his place and met another lady with him in the kitchen. I asked for us to talk and asked why he refused to receive the lawyer’s calls and why he was telling people that he gave me N1.5m to rent an apartment, but he denied it.

Dream Nigeria Initiative, an Abuja-based civil society organisation, has lamented that the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has been a victim of judicial rascality orchestrated by Governor Nyesom Wike.
The group’s Acting Executive Director, Mr. Dike Aguonye made this known in a statement sent to journalists on Wednesday.

According to him, the recent ruling of the Supreme Court has vindicated Amaechi.

The Supreme Court had last Friday dismissed Amaechi’s appeal to stop his probe over an alleged N96 billion fraud.

The apex court, however, stated that although all the prayers of the former minister were dismissed, the 6th one was determined.



Dr Agunoye said:-
“Among the several issues for determination, Amaechi asked the court to determine whether the judicial commission of inquiry can competently investigate and probe him.

“But in their decision, the respected seven-member apex court panel held that the two lower courts were right in their pronouncement that the commission of inquiry has the right to investigate and probe the appellant.

Polish professional bodybuilder, Paul Poloczek, has died at the of 37 just hours after competing in a championship in Germany.

The Polish-born strongman had taken part in the NPC Worldwide Championship before his sudden death.

A cause of death has not been established but Poloczek is just the latest high-profile bodybuilder to die in recent months.

Professional bodybuilder Paul Poloczek dies at 37 hours after competing in a tournament



Poloczek was originally a football player but fell in love with bodybuilding as a teenager and joined the famous Powerhouse Gym franchise in Oehringen in Germany in 2002, before later becoming its owner.

He won his first Junior Championship bodybuilding competition aged 17 and later finished second in the German Championships in the Super-Heavyweight division in 2012.



He later won the Arnold Classic amateur tournament in 2017 which allowed him to go professional.

Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has wished Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi well.

According to him, he was considering making Obi his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.



Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Kwankwaso said it would have been possible if Obi had not joined another political party after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said;

“Many people suggested that (for Obi to be running mate). I believe it could have been possible if not because he joined another party and now he is already a candidate as we have seen from the news just now.

“We look forward to seeing what happens in the next few days or weeks.”

Kwankwaso who wished Obi well, also disclosed that they’ve had the opportunity to talk about several national issues.

He added;

“Actually, we had the opportunity to talk to ourselves on many national issues until a few days to the time when he declared for the Labour Party of which now he is the presidential candidate.”

When asked if the party would consider picking his running mate from the South East, he said the NNPP is not yet settled on that. He said as far as the former APC and PDP chieftain is concerned, the NNPP needs an influential personality as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

Kwankwaso said;

“We are not there yet. After the convention, the party will sit down and look around and see if we can have a very good, credible person with capacity; somebody who is acceptable; somebody who can bring as many people as possible to vote for our party as a vice president of the NNPP from the southern part of the country.

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra, and Pat Utomi, a professor of political economy, are set to contest the presidential ticket of the Labour Party (LP).

TheCable understands that the national convention of the party is set to hold today Monday in Asaba, the Delta capital.

A source in the party told TheCable that Obi and Utomi are the two leading presidential candidates of the party.

On Friday, Obi, a presidential aspirant, joined LP hours after announcing the resignation of his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former Anambra governor said his decision to join LP aligns with the interest of Nigerians across different sectors, adding that he wants to take the country from consumption to production.

“Therefore, I have chosen a route that I consider to be in line with our aspirations and my mantra of taking the country from consumption to production; and that is the Labour Party which is synonymous with the people, workers, development, production, securing and uniting Nigerians as one family,” Obi had said.

Utomi, co-convener the National Consultative Front (NCFront), is one of the stakeholders creating awareness on the need for a third force that will break the dominance of two major political parties in the country.

A Nigerian pharmacist has claimed that it is not right for any Christian to borrow money from someone else.

According to the pharmacist, it is a practice that implies that God is not sufficient enough for you.



The Twitter user, @RowlyDaDon argued that borrowing is “anti covenant”. He said that believers should rely on God totally for supplication as God never fails. He also quoted texts from Deuteronomy and proverbs to back his argument. He advised that christians should not walk on the realm of borrowing.

Nigerian singer, Portable, was involved in another car accident barely three months after surviving one.

In March, Portable took to social media to thank God for his life after he rammed his Range Rover into a building’s railing.



According to him, the accident was an attack by some spiritual forces.



He has once again taken to Instagram to thank God for preserving his life after his car was involved in a crash earlier today.

Sharing a video of the accident scene, the Zazu Zeh star claimed his enemies are trying to kill a superstar.

An aspirant has allegedly recovered over N100m he gave to party delegates after he lost the House of Reps ticket in the just concluded party primaries in Kaduna State.


Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who disclosed this on Twitter, said the man used vigilantes and hunters to recover his money from the delegates after he lost.
