An Owerri-based cleric and prophet, Ekene Bob Ekechukwu, has declared that despite the victory secured by former Lagos state governor, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in the just-concluded presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a former minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who came a distant second, would be the party’s flag-bearer in the 2023 general elections.

The prophet further revealed that the Kaduna state governor, Nasir el Rufa’i, who did not participate in that primary election, would eventually be picked as his running mate in that election.

Prophet Ekechukwu had previously given prophecies which came to pass.

He predicted the demise of Prophet T.B. Joshua; the death of a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Attahiru; prophesied that a former Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, would face severe corruption charges and that he would be arrested in his home by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and many others.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu on Friday hosted the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.
Governor Abiodun during his visit to the former governor of Lagos State pledged to support his presidential ambition in the 2023 general election.

The Ogun State Governor in a post on his Twitter account noted that his visit to the National Leader of the ruling party is to congratulate him on his victory at the presidential primary of the party.

Recall that Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rival, former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who gathered 316 votes, while Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo polled 235 votes.

The Ogun State Governor who shared a picture of the visit on his Twitter account wrote,

The Ondo State Police Command on Friday denied reports that the gunmen who attacked worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo have been apprehended.
Recall that on June 5, alleged Fulani herdsmen attacked St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, during church service, killing over 30 congregants, and injuring over 60 others who are still receiving treatment.

A viral video which has been making the rounds on social media claimed that the perpetrators had been arrested by the combined effort of the Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps and other security agents.

Residents of Owo had stormed the palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye to confirm the news of the arrest.

The monarch while trying to placate the crowd said he also heard the rumour and urged them to remain calm.


However, an anonymous source within the palace informed newsmen that the rumor was false and it was later discovered that it was about a group in the Owo/Benin boundary arrested with weapons.

The source said:

“It was only a rumour. Youths besieged the palace in their thousands when the rumour broke out, but it was discovered to be a false alarm.

“Kabiyesi was only trying to hail their doggedness as he told them that, ‘I heard the rumour like you too’, admonishing them to be patient to authenticate it.

“But it was later discovered that the story was about a group arrested along the Owo/Benin boundary in possession of dangerous weapons.”

Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, told newsmen that she was not aware of the arrest.

She said:

“I can not confirm anything like that. There is no story like that in the state.”

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress(APC),Senator Abdullahi Adamu has announced Senate president Ahmad Lawan as APC consensus presidential candidate.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has debunked reports that he was involved in an auto crash on Monday morning.

Reports had emerged on social media that Osinbajo’s convoy was involved in a crash along airport road Abuja.

But his spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the VP only stopped at the scene of the incident to lend assistance to a citizen who was involved in an auto crash.

Akande further stated that Osinbajo has arrived Owo in Ondo State, where worshippers were heinously attacked and killed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

According to Vanguard, the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential screening committee may have ranked Vice President Yemi Osinbajo top of the 23 aspirants jostling to secure the party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
The committee had announced that it cleared 13 of the aspirants to contest the primaries due to hold on Monday and Tuesday but was mum on the fate of the others.

An authoritative source hinted that what the committee did was to score the aspirants based on its own criteria and the Vice President emerged tops.

The committee’s report submitted to the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Adamu Abdulahi, was scheduled to be deliberated upon at Saturday night’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the 23 presidential aspirants at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Also at the meeting were the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babangida Monguno (rtd).


It was gathered that the main objective of the meeting was to encourage the aspirants to support the individual who was ranked top among those who were screened.

The meeting, which took place at the official residence of the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Saturday night, came barely 48 hours to the national convention of the ruling party where it is expected to choose its flag bearer.

President Buhari had already asked the governors of the APC to support him to pick his own successor, a demand that has generated some controversy within the party.

Saturday’s meeting also came against the backdrop of the outburst by former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, against President Buhari ostensibly over the perceived plot to sideline him from the race.

Former Brazil and Chelsea defender, Alex has revealed that he has undergone heart bypass surgery to clear four blocked arteries.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress’ presidential screening committee, John Oyegun, has stated that 99 percent of its presidential aspirants agreed to support a consensus candidate.
Oyegun made the remark while presenting the committee’s report to the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu.

“We engaged every aspirant on the issue of consensus,” he told Adamu. “It is a pleasant surprise that 99 percent agreed that the party is supreme. And that whatever the party decides – with proper consultation – they will likely accept.

Only one exception, who said I will accept consensus only if it is for me. I think it is a point that needs to be made and emphasised.

“So that gives you a lot of leeway in the hours ahead to trim down even more drastically.

“But finally we think we should not be afraid of a contested primary if anybody insists on a contest.”

Louisiana lawmakers have converted a controversial bill doing away with the need for permits to carry concealed weapons into one allowing trained teachers and school administrators to carry guns on campuses.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Invoking the mass shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers last week at a Texas elementary school, a panel of Louisiana legislators has converted a bill that would allow people to carry concealed guns without a permit into one allowing trained teachers to carry guns on public school campuses.

Until the shooting in Uvalde, Rep. Danny McCormick's House-passed bill doing away with the need for concealed-carry permits appeared to be on track for passage in the Senate — and a likely veto from Gov. John Bel Edwards, who rejected similar legislation last year.

But Uvalde appears to have changed the bill's trajectory. The Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee considered the bill Wednesday night — as one member noted that news was breaking of a mass shooting in Oklahoma. Two senators cited surveys of residents indicating opposition to allowing concealed weapons without mandatory training and permits.
Then, state Sen. Eddie Lambert, a Republican from Gonzales, offered the amendment allowing an elementary or secondary school to allow designated volunteers from among its teachers and administrators, to undergo police-style training to carry concealed weapons on campus and serve as “school protection officers.”
Lambert's amendment removed McCormick's original no-permit language.

“Why can't we do both?" asked Sen. Jay Morris, a West Monroe Republican, who authored the bill vetoed last year by Edwards.

“You're right, but we're going to talk about realities in politics right now,” said Lambert, who didn't want the two controversial issues tied together. “Rep. McCormick can always bring the bill next year.”
As of Thursday, it was uncertain that either concept — no-permit concealed carry or arming teachers — would survive in the final days of Louisiana's 2022 legislative session. Lawmakers faced an adjournment deadline of 6 p.m. Monday.

McCormick said in an interview Thursday that he believes at least some of those who supported Lambert's amendment simply wanted to kill his bill, which was approved 64-27 in the House in April. Still, he said he supported Lambert's idea and had not decided whether he would try to get his original language restored in the session's final days.

One of the state's largest teacher organizations expressed opposition to the revamped bill.

“Teachers are expected to provide their own gun, obtain their own concealed carry firearm permit, complete a minimum of 400 hours of training on their own personal time and carry all the responsibility and liability if anything goes wrong,” said Cynthia Posey, legislative director for the Louisiana Federation of Teachers.
McCormick's original bill drew notably strong opposition in a state where guns are popular and voters approved a 2012 state constitutional amendment affirming gun rights. Opponents included various law enforcement officials and Edwards. The Democratic governor is a military veteran who has touted his love of hunting and fishing and support for gun ownership. But he has said allowing the carrying of concealed weapons without training and permits would be bad policy.

Efforts in the overwhelmingly Republican Legislature to override last year's veto failed.

The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Wuse, Abuja has remanded Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late popular gospel singer, Osinachi, in Kuje Correctional Centre.

The Federal Government arraigned Nwachukwu on Friday, June 3.

He is facing 23-count bordering on culpable homicide, verbal, physical abuse and wrongful confinement, wrongful restraint, economic abuse, forced isolation, emotional and psychological abuse and attempt to commit culpable homicide, among others.

Nwachukwu will be in prison pending the hearing and determination of the homicide-related suit instituted against him by the Attorney General of the Federation.

The presiding judge, Justice N.K. Nwosu-Iheme gave the order on Friday after he pleaded not guilty to 23 charges bordering on domestic violence and homicide, among others.

She ordered that the suspect be remanded at the correctional facility while the trial was adjourned to June 16 and June 17.

The 42-year-old gospel singer died on April 8, after spending days at a hospital. Her husband was accused of subjecting her to domestic violence, which led to her death.

Following the incident, Nwachukwu was arrested by the police and he has since been in detention.



Nwachukwu was charged under sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 and culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code which is punishable with death.
